[SOLVED]Intel HD 4600 HDMI - Monitor won't standby

Hi,
I bought a new desktop with the intel i5 4440S - intel hd 4600 and I have a problem with the monitor standby.
When the monitor go to standby, the monitor's led is orange for only 2 seconds then it goes blue and try to catch the hdmi signal and again like a loop.
Normally when the monitor is standby the led is always orange until I move the mouse to wake up from the standby.
The monitor is a Iiyama prolite x2382hs connected via HDMI.
I am using the latest kernel 3.13rc6 from AUR but the same thing happens with 3.12.

Ok, after a long research it seems that this behaviour is normal for HDMI (first time I use HDMI).
I also tried with the DVI cable and it works fine, confirming that is an HDMI "issue".
Problem solved.

  • [SOLVED]Intel HDA HDMI Keeps Coming Back From The Dead Like a Vampire

I have an Asus H87M-Pro mobo with a E3-1265L v3 Intel CPU.  This CPU does my audio and video, but the problem is I haven't had audio since I installed this mobo.  Dead silent.
I believe the problem must be that HDMI audio is siezing card0, which I infer is the default sound slot, but blacklisting the modules hasn't worked:
    blacklist snd-hda-intel-hdmi
    blacklist snd-hda-codec-hdmi
... and setting those modules to never, never take card0 hasn't worked:
    options snd-hda-intel-hdmi index=-2
    options snd-hda-codec-hdmi index=-2
alsamixer always comes up first with
    Card: PulseAudio

I can <f6> and choose HDA Intel PCH and it's not muted, but that doesn't get me audio.
With no settings in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf I get:

The first index value (1) corresponds to first id (PCH) and since sound cards are counted from 0, this sets HDMI as primary. This should become pretty clear following the example on wiki.
Oh it's clear when you have different sound cards, as with their example of the MIA.  But what's not clear at all within the Intel driver, is the relation between "index value" (an utterly abstract term unconnected with anything substantive), and ID.  I infer that the IDs in this case are PCH and HDMI.  But HDMI has two possibilities, analog and digital, as does PCH.  How can HDMI have an analog function?  And is PCH my goal? And what does PCH mean anyway?  Why does everything have HDMI in the name?  Where does Pulse fit in all this, since alsamixer considers it the default?  And why is the module named snd-hda-intel-hdmi.ko yet when it's loaded it's called snd_hda_intel_hdmi?  And which should I use in blacklist.conf?  And why is there a snd-hda-intel-hdmi.ko and snd-hda-codec-hdmi.ko?  And which should I use in blacklist.conf for options?
See none of this is explained in the wiki, and yet is fundamental to understanding how to set this up.  Whoever wrote the wiki already knows all this and assumes the reader does too, which is a common failing of tech writers.  With huge gaps in the information, I can't begin to synthesize a solution.  Maybe fundamentals aren't important to the kids these days.  They will find out soon enough though.
    emeres wrote:
    options snd_hda_intel enable=1,0
This is ambiguous, since, like I previously stated snd-hda-intel is used by both cards. Again the link to wiki where it is explained step by step how to determine vid and pid and use it with options. Vid and pid are used to determine a specific card and so specific options can be set for a specific card. They can be used with both suggestions. Yes there are very unlikely scenarios, where it might cause more trouble than good.
    I think you mean this:
    blacklist.conf:
    options snd-hda-intel id=PCH,HDMI index=0,1
    options snd-hda-intel-hdmi index=-2
    options snd-hda-codec-hdmi index=-2

card 1: HDMI [HDA Intel PCH], device 1: ALC892 Digital [ALC892 Digital]
    Subdevices: 1/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
Unfortunately it doesn't work.  Notice that now everything has HDMI in the string... ridiculous.
By vid/pid, I think you mean this:
    # lspci -nn |grep -i audio
00:03.0 Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v3/4th Gen Core Processor HD Audio Controller [8086:0c0c] (rev 06)

05:00.0 Multimedia video controller [0400]: Conexant Systems, Inc. CX23885 PCI Video and Audio Decoder [14f1:8852] (rev 03)
Where's HDMI?  Where's analog?  Guessing that "4th Gen Core Processor HD Audio Controller" might be HDMI:
    blacklist.conf:
    # PCH
    options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=auto vid=8086 pid=8c20
    # HDMI
    options snd-hda-intel index=1 model=auto vid=8086 pid=0c0c

Now thankfully I do now have audio for the first time on this mobo.
But HDMI is now 3rd? And there is no Hauppauge?  Can anything be done about that?

The nvidia section of the pulseaudio page on the wiki looks similar. I don't see anything in the instructions there that would make the solution nvidia-specific. I would consider giving it a shot to start here but replace "device=hw:1,7" with "device=hw:0,7".
Maybe, the name of the section needs changing to something more generic than just nvidia. Eg, it may be more appropriate to call it just "HDMI Configuration" with a note about which cards it's known to apply to.

  • P55t - External 4K HDMI monitor connection unreliable

    I have a new Satellite P55t laptop with 4K integrated display (PSPNVU-03004P).
I have a 4K monitor connected on the HDMI port.  Running Windows 8.1.
It works sometimes, but for some reason is entirely unreliable - it seems to lose contact with the monitor, which puts all the windows off the external display back onto the main display - the main display constantly flickers as if it is trying to connect to the external monitor again, etc. etc.
I have a short HDMI cable (600mm) which works fine with this display and another PC.
Intel HD Graphics 4600 driver version 10.18.10.3412
    AMD Radeon R9 M265X driver version 13.351.1006.1001
Any ideas on how to solve this? - besides convincing Toshiba to start using proper display systems (DisplayPort) that can at least support 60Hz! Duh!

Toshiba staff monitoring this - isn't it time you took major issues like this seriously and made some contribution to the forum?
Is there any reason why I can't install the most up to date Intel HD 4600 Graphics drivers?

  • My Viewsonic monitor won't work with the Imac using the Mini Port to DVI adapter.

My Viewsonic monitor won't work with the Imac using the Mini Port to DVI adapter. I also tried the HDMI to DVI adapter ane the Mac-Mini with same result. The monitor does work on my older Macbook Pro that has the DVI connector. Is it a Software/Driver issue ?

Should be extremely simple, please carefully read Connect multiple displays to your Mac. If you still have problems then it's probably a cable issue that would be resolved by replacing the adapter cable. You should be using this adapter. If you are using a third party adapter that might be your problem!

  • How do I connect my 2010 Mac Book Pro to two HDMI Monitors?

    Hi All,
I currently have a 2010 Mac Book Pro (Non Retina) which has only one MiniDisplay Port. I am trying to connect it to two HDMI Monitors. How do I do this? I originally was going to buy a MiniDisplay Port to HDMI Adapter and a HDMI Splitter, but won't that show the exact same thing on both displays? Thanks.

If you can connect each computer to the Internet at the same time without swapping cables, you have all the infrastructure in place for File Sharing.
    On your Mac,
System Preferences > Sharing > File Sharing can be used to "Share" [read: "make available to others"]
OS X Mountain Lion: Set up a Windows computer to share files with Mac users
If you decide to connect an external Hard drive:
The PC does not believe there are any other Operating Systems, so it cannot read Mac OS X files.
The Mac can read and write FAT and exFat, and can Read but not write NTFS.

  • Macbook Pro 2013 HDMI Monitor Goes Black for a few seconds

So I purchased a brand new Macbook Pro 2013 (specs below) and for the entire time I have been using it with a BenQ RL2455 via HDMI with no problems at all. Recently though I have started to experience problems between the computer and the monitor. There is no particular sequence as to when this will happen but the monitor screen just goes completely black for a couple of seconds, and then goes back to normal.
There is nothing to suggest that the monitor is being disconnected from the mac, as it still detects the fact that the two are still connected. I have followed each cable back to the source and they all seem to be properly connected.
As you can imagine, this is very annoying and inconvenient, and it would be much appreciated if anyone knows any solutions to this. I just thought i'd see if there was anything i could do before i contacted apple, just incase i was being a total idiot and missing something obvious!
    Thanks!

  • Macbook with lion; external monitor won't wake

I have a 2008 unibody aluminum 2.0 ghz MacBook with an Acer s232HL 23" external monitor. Lately I've noticed that the external monitor won't come back to me after I put the computer to sleep. I'm using Lion and a Dynex MiniDisplay Port to DVI adapter. I never used to have this problem with Snow Leopard, but I got Lion right after it came out, and I could swear this problem didn't really start until a week or two ago.
I'm able to get the monitor back, but only after unplugging and replugging it in about 15 times.
    Here's what happens:
I wake the computer up from sleep. The laptop monitor comes on. The light on the monitor turns from amber to blue, and it cycles through its ports–DVI, HDMI, and VGA–looking for a signal, before saying "no signal", and going back to sleep.
I unplug the monitor from my laptop.
My laptop screen briefly turns blue as it is reinitializing.
The Acer light goes from amber to blue again, and cycles through its display. If I leave it unplugged, it says "no cable attatched," or something.
    I plug it back in.
    Laptop monitor briefly goes blue.
Acer light goes back to blue and it cycles through its ports again before saying "no signal."
I repeat this a multitude of times, until the computer and monitor seem to randomly agree to speak to eachother.
Has anyone else experienced this and found a more acceptable solution than mine?
    Thanks,
    Sam

Hi Sworden79, I'm having exactly the same problems with my Macbook Pro 2011...
I didn't notice the problem at the begining, I think it start to happend with one of the Lion updates...
Is really anoying... to make it worst, some times when I restart the computer if the monitor is plug in the computer freeze... I have to disconect the monitor from the computer, then force restart long pressing the power button, wait till Lion load and then connect the monitor back... (experiencing this issue that you are describing then...)
I notice that it reduce the amount of cicles it takes to recognize the monitor if you have display preferences open when you connect the monitor to the mac...
    This is SO annoying!

I'm not sure Apple is going to write drivers for a Windows Operating System, so we may have to rely on the generic drivers.
What model pavilion do you have?

  • Macbook Pro Retina - HDMI monitor sometimes displays blank during reboot

I'm running two monitors (HDMI, DVI-D) on my MBP Retina 13" running the latest Mavericks 10.9.2, and sometimes when I reboot the HDMI monitor which is set as the main monitor appears black/blank on reboot (power is on but nothing is displaying). The other two screens have signal and are displaying. When this occurs the HDMI monitor power button won't function and I end up having to un-plug/re-plug in the monitor for it to display.
Has anyone come across this or have a solution to this problem?

It appears this also happens when coming out of sleep mode, where the HDMI monitor comes up as a black screen and the DVI-D and laptop screen refresh correctly. (it's as if it's not getting the video signal although the monitor is turned on)
Anyone else come across this? I highly doubt this is a one time case.

  • Qosmio X70-A-11Q - HDMI Monitor doesn't work

    Hello
I work on my Laptop with 2 external monitors. One is connected via VGA and the other via HDMI. That all worked fine until yesterday where my HDMI monitor couldn't be found.
    Things i already tested:
I tested the moitor by connecting it with another computer and it worked (with HDMI), so the monitor can't be the issue.
I also tried an other HDMI cable...didn't work ether.
BIOS is updated to the latest version
graphics driver from NVIDIA graphics card and from the standard intel graphics card are updated to the latest version.
Also a strange thing: when im in the BIOS menu while having VGA plugged in the screen keeps turning black for 1-2 secounds and then turning on again
Would be great to get some tips on what i can do :)
    thanks

    Hi
Are you able to use the HDMI out port without connecting another additional monitor to the VGA port? Please check this because from my experience it should be possible to use either the VGA or HDMI port.
However, I think the problem might be related to one of the graphic card driver.
Why? Because I think that one video out port would be controlled by one graphic chip.
In case you are using two monitors at the same time (VGA and HDMI) one video graphic card (nVidia or Intel) would control VGA port and the other HDMI port.
I think you should reinstall the Intel display driver.
First of all you should uninstall the installed Intel display driver from the system (do that in device manager). Then you should reboot the notebook. On the Toshiba EU driver page you would find the latest Intel driver v10.18.10.3308
This driver is released for Win 8.1 as well as Win 8 and Win 7
Would recommend you to install this version to fix the HDMI problem

I have an HP ENVY 700 series PC with an Intel i5 processor and an Intel HD 4600 onboard graphics processor running Windows 8.1 64 bit.  When playing high graphics games the computer will restart itself.  This happens with all full screen games, (Diablo III, Starcraft II, Sim City, etc).  I have tried all of the suggestions given on other forums.  None work.  I have the game graphics set to the lowest settings and the resolution in the game set to the same resolution the computer uses.
Does anyone have any REAL solution to this problem.

    Fred, welcome to the forum.
The best solution is a discrete video card.  Integrated video simply is not designed for gaming.  This will no doubt require a power supply unit (PSU) upgrade, as well.

    Hello MoeC,
I understand you are having issues with your graphics driver crashing since you upgrade to Windows 8.1. I have found another driver for your computer on Windows 8.1 that I would like you to try. This is Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver and according to the specifications for this driver is supports only the Intel HD Graphics 4600 running Windows 8.1 64-bit.
Uninstall the driver you currently have installed and download and install the one I am recommending.
I believe this should resolve your graphics issue. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!
