So is there any chance i could compile it? Need to downgrade gcc?

[SOLVED] ruby-panelapplet2 won't compile (i686 & x86_64)
Hi!
I already wrote forum post in 64 bit section, but today I got to i686 machine and the error is the same, that damned package won't compile
Can anyone help getting this compiled? Any hints?
Errors are as follows:
Package 'glipper' has no Name: field

checking for rb_define_alloc_func() in ruby.h... yes
checking for rb_block_proc() in ruby.h... yes
checking for new allocation framework... yes

That is driving me crazy, coz I can't get SSHMenu work properly and that is one of the tools I use all the time
If someone has that package in x86_64, please send that to me (edzis123[@]inbox.lv). Please remove all numbers and brackets from there
If the package is not available, alternate way is sending the files in the package, I suppose these should be like this (I took sample from i686):
/usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.9.1/panelapplet2.rb
/usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.9.1/x86_64-linux/panelapplet2_main.so
/usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.9.1/x86_64-linux/panelapplet2.so
Thanx in advance.
Last edited by Kirurgs (2010-02-21 21:32:26)Hi!
After spending quite a lot of time on this, I found the error why I couldn't compile almost any of ruby packages including ruby-gnomepanel2.
To my big surprise, pacman -R glipper fixed the issue and I'm now using sshmenu w/o any issues.
Ruby seems to broke if some additional (possibly incorrect) packages are installed, which it shouldn't!! Uff...

[solved] Vanilla kernel won't compile on vanilla install
I am new to Arch Linux but not new to other Linux distros. I've encountered somewhat of a strange problem. I wanted to test out some custom kernel modifications on Arch Linux. (Specifically, I have been trying to implement unRAID [ http://lime-technology.com/ ] into a Arch Linux install.) I ran into some problems compiling the modified 2.6.36.2 kernel and figured it was just my modifications. But to my surprise, I am unable to even compile a vanilla kernel on a fresh install (base and devel) of Arch Linux. After further testing, it seems to affect other kernel versions, but only older kernel version. For example, vanilla 2.6.38 compiles fine. I've outlined my process below.
1. Fresh install of Arch Linux (base and devel)
2. Installed OpenSSH and configured so I could connect remotely.
3. Prepare source tree: http://pastie.org/1929380
4. Accepted defaults on make menuconfig
5. Full build log: https://pastee.org/gvng5
Then it tanks on this error:

LD arch/x86/mm/mmiotrace.o
LD arch/x86/mm/built-in.o

I've tested on other kernel (old-ish) versions and I get the same error. Any ideas?
Last edited by TaterSalad (2011-05-20 04:49:15)I don't what the problem is, but I could not get it to compile with gcc 4.6. I did do a netinstall the first time around though with all the latest packages. Maybe there is some updated package throwing the error? Maybe binutils? No matter though. I don't need gcc 4.6 anyways. I reinstalled Arch with a non-net install (to get the older packages) and it worked. Thanks for the help graysky.
If anyone is in the mood for hunting bugs, you might try a fresh netinstall and reproducing my original steps to see if you can reproduce it. Might be worth reporting.

Compiling MPlayer-SVN on Arch64
Has anyone successfully built the Subversion package on Arch64?
Thanks. I hadn't started to dig into the problem yet, but the compile error was blah..blah..blah.. libtool.... ccache...
This is great. I'm itching to try out MPlayer-cvs.
------->>>EDIT
It worked. A minute or so later, Subversion compiles. A minute after that, MPlayer-svn didn't. I guess that's a talk for this new and improved thread!
It seems that the compiler is not finding avutil.h (possibly from the ffmpeg library [/libavcodec/avcodec.h]). -

All of this is coming from swscale. Enabling Mplayer's internal swscale fixes the build for me, but it's hardly a solution seeing that there is no difference at all in between the code bases.
The question:
Why are Archers seeing this and yet there's no traces that I can find anywhere on the web? I ask because I don't know if it's a Mplayer bug, a FFmpeg bug, or one of the core libraries in Arch? In short, I don't know who to file a bug report with.
What I know:
1) The build fails in different places on different architectures.
2) Mplayer seems to not be able to find yasm even though x264 and FFmpeg find it fine, even with the configure flag --yasm=YASM.
3) FFmpeg is not installing any swscale header file other than libswscale/swscale.h and force installing it does not help.
a) There is no difference at all in the Makefile between the two code bases.wonder wrote:to be fair i don't think you can build mplayer-svn against ffmpeg-svn. you can only with mplayer-mt-git against ffmpeg-mt-git or something like that.
I've been doing it daily for well over a year. Maybe even two.
-- Edit--
If anyone cares, it's because of how Mplayer deals with FFmpeg's header files. For instance, Mplayer is looking for yuv2rgb.h, but FFmpeg now produces yuv2rgb_mmx.h at runtime on my system. It looks as if libswscale's build files are being generated per architecture for usage of ASM code. Mplayer isn't looking at things quite right anymore. -

Make sure to have linux-headers installed as the same version lie your kernel.

Mplayer-svn with dvdnav patch - testers needed
This was getting a bit OT here, so here's a new thread.
I've added the dvdnav patch, which provides support for DVD menus, to the existing mplayer-svn PKGBUILD. It compiles successfully, but I don't have a DVD drive, so I can't test it. Here's the PKGBUILD:

The link above gives full details of what this patch can and cannot do.
I'll run the package here to make sure existing functionality is OK, but I'd be grateful if others could try out the DVD stuff and report back. If it's good enough, I'll include it in the AUR package.

I've heard though the grapevine the MPlayer-svn will play a whole bunch of WM stuff natively. So, here are my questions:
In AUR there's a package build. What do people think of it so far? Is the MPlayer plug-in working with that build? Has anyone here successfully got it to run on Arch 64?
For the last question: the Subversion package build won't compile on Arch 64. I may see if I can find a solution if MPlayer-svn is worth the time.skottish wrote:Is the MPlayer plug-in working with that build?
Yup, works fine here. -

I can't seem to figure out how to make mplayer's "ao=pulse" option to work.
It works fine with alsa, but I couldn't find anything definitive on Google about what might be wrong. I think one of the problems might be that I couldn't find any errors in mplayer's output.

Is there something else I can check with the MPlayer feedback?
Also, I'm using mplayer-vaapi, but I took a look at its abs PKGBUILD and it didn't have any configure options disabling pulseaudio. At least I'm assuming the abs PKGBUILDs reflect the default options that the binaries come with.
Last edited by mellowmaroon (2013-04-14 05:26:07)You were right about it being muted through the PA mixer! I didn't think about that, and installed pavucontrol. I figure I'll try to learn how to learn to do it through pactl/pacmd sometime.
Though, I have "flat-volumes = no" so I have a kind of global maximum volume and normally can set other applications' volumes individually from within the program. Pavucontrol reflects MPD+ncmpcpp volume changes, but apparently doesn't seem to pick up MPlayer's application volume.
Is there any way to fix MPlayer so it's internal volume adjustment will be the same as what is under Playback in pavucontrol? Or if it isn't exclusive to MPlayer, is there any way to have all applications start at the 100% playback volume (not the output device volume)?
EDIT: Quickly found it! Haha I had "softvol=yes" in my config file, I think to try to increase the Alsa volume when I had that on. Thanks for your help anyway!

[SOLVED]Mplayer sync issue
Hi!
I've been having this issue lately with mplayer. Everytime I play a video file the video gets out of sync. Sometimes it slows down, sometimes it freezes, but audio always keeps going. If I pause and resume really fast, it will speed up, and if I do that a couple of times it will stay in sync for the rest of the playback. I would like it to always sync

**** Your system is too SLOW to play this! ****
Possible reasons, problems, workarounds:
- Most common: broken/buggy _audio_ driver
- Try -ao sdl or use the OSS emulation of ALSA.
- Experiment with different values for -autosync, 30 is a good start.
- Slow video output
- Try a different -vo driver (-vo help for a list) or try -framedrop!
- Slow CPU
- Don't try to play a big DVD/DivX on a slow CPU! Try some of the lavdopts,
e.g. -vfm ffmpeg -lavdopts lowres=1:fast:skiploopfilter=all.
- Broken file
- Try various combinations of -nobps -ni -forceidx -mc 0.
- Slow media (NFS/SMB mounts, DVD, VCD etc)
- Try -cache 8192.
- Are you using -cache to play a non-interleaved AVI file?
- Try -nocache.

sorry my bad english, I'm brasilian XDpiussj2,

Just an advice: Please use [ code ] tags around your listings instead of [ quote ] ones (without the interfering blanks of course). This will make them more readable and put them into scrollable windows. -
This is my first in depth attempt to understand the code for enabling arrays. I THINK I have a fairly simple problem, but the code won't compile and NetBeans is telling me I'm missing a symbol &/or class, which I just don't get. Hi,
I'm trying to migrate my application from JDev 11.1.1.0.2 to 11.1.2.2.0 but even after Jdev migrate to new version, the application won't compile correct. Seems that some classes wont recognize dependecies from other package. If i have a class in Web that import a class from Model, in compile time the console give me this kind a error: "package 'xxx.yyy.www' does not exist". If i open any class that gave me this error there isn't any warning or red line showing errors, in the line of the import i can use Ctrl + right click and go to the class without problems. The dependecies between projects (web, model and ejb) are correct. I dont know what is, any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Alexandre Rocco.Hi
I am facing the same problem when migrating from JDev 11.1.1.4.0 to JDev 11.1.2.2.0. Any idea?

JDeveloper 10.1.2.1 won't compile my code?
Hi,
I'm pretty new to JDeveloper, and Java in general.
I've just downloaded and tried to run JDeveloper 10g (10.1.2.1.0, Build 1913) and I've having problems.
When the application loads, I get a dialog message titled "Java Virtual Machine Launcher", with the message "Could not find the main class. Program will exit"
JDeveloper then finishes loading.
I've knocked up a quick JSP page, but it won't compile. I get the message "Internal compilation error, terminated with a fatal exception."
Also, I've notived that if I go to Project Properties and try to look at Profiles->Development->Libraries, JDeveloper throws a NullPointerException.
I've got JDeveloper 10.1.3 on my machine, and it has none of these problems?
After looking around on the web, I'm thinking it might be a CLASS_PATH problem, but how can I confirm this, and how can I fix it?
Any ideas on what is wrong would be appreciated?
Thanks
ThomThanks thahn.
That fixed the "Java Virtual Machine Launcher" error - I would never have thought spaces in the directory name could have caused this problem!
The other problems remain though, so I still can't compile any code.
