[SOLVED] Only seeing 4 out of 8 cores (2x Quad Core)

Hello all,
I just got some new toys today. A server with 2 E5410's. 2 quad core 2.33GHz Xeons. Great fun. Now I have installed Arch64 on it. The problem is I can only see 4 cores, not 8. The BIOS shows 2 processors detected and 8 logical processors detected.

Am I missing something?
Current kernel is 2.6.24.4-1
Will I need to compile the kernel myself with some different options? And if so, what options would those be?

I got it working and decided to wait it out until Arch officially supports 16 cores before I update the kernel again. These are the steps if I remember correctly...
Get the current kernel26 at http://archlinux.org/packages/core/x86_64/kernel26/
(you need to go to "view svn entries")
Download everything in there...
PKGBUILD
config
config.x86_64
kernel26.install
kernel26.preset
In "config" find the line "CONFIG_NR_CPUS" change it from "4" to "8" or whatever you want
"CONFIG_SPLIT_PTLOCK_CPUS" should also be changed to "8" if it isn't already
In "config.x86_64" look for the same two lines and make the appropriate changes.
Build and install the package as you normally would.
Restart, then cat /proc/cpuinfo should show a wonderfully long list of CPUs

How can I get all the content of my photo stream to automatically upload to my PC? this is hapening since I got a new computer, I used to have all my photos synced, I cant figure out what Im doing differently and why only the last 4 photos appear.

Ok so I figured out that the photo stream won't upload pas content on its own and has a 1000pics limit, so if anyone has a way to mass transfer them that would be helpful.

Why Logic 8 only seeing 8 out of 24 inputs of digidesign hardware

I just installed Logic 8 at a studio I'm working at and so far Logic is only seeing 8 inputs out of a possible 24. In the peripherels window/ Digidesign Hardware Setup/ DAE /Audio Hardware Set Up /Logic preferences, it is seeing the three different pieces of hardware. ( Digidesign 192#1, 192 #2, 192 #3 ) This is exactly correct, yet I'm not sure where the problem is for it's not seeing inputs 9-24 in the mix window. Any ideas out there.. much appreciated

Your wifi problem sounds very much like the problem I had. The wifi would drop out, the icon showed it was still connected. If I turned it off, I couldn't turn it back on. Another user here pointed me to the problem, which was the wifi cable (the flat cable goint from the card to the motherboard). I found it on ebay for $13 and it's been running fine since I replaced it. This is the repair guide for your machine. The part number will be on there if you click the link.

If you select a mailbox, you should get an Edit button (easier to see in landscape mode). Clicking the button will provide you with check circles for the messages. You also get Delete and Move buttons at the bottom. Check the messages you want to move and then navigate to the mailbox you want to drop them into. I think as long as you can navigate to a mailbox you can move the messages to it.
In the Mac Mail application and probably Outlook on the Windows side, you also setup rules to move messages to specific mailboxes. If the mailboxes are stored on the server, then you can have the sorting done on the server and they should appear that way on the iPad. If your later messages do not show up, you may need to have the iPad app pulled down more messages until they are all showing.

You never know when a hard drive or a directory might go bad. Having a bootable clone is a must.

The iPhone remembers information about previous contacts.
Complelely independently, you have a Contacts app with a contacts list. It sounds like your contacts list has 3 names on it. You need to add a few names.

SharePoint 2013 users only see custom list and document lists that they uniquely created

In my first SharePoint 2013 project, I want to create a view where users can only see their own files that they generated. I think I know how to create this view when the list is associated with the 'Documents; folder. However I have created several custom
lists where I can only see these items when I am on the navigation pane to the right and the unique custom lists are listed under 'recent'.
Let me know if you can answer any of the following questions:
1. When on the main SharePoint website, can lists be displayed in other locations than what I just listed? If so, where would I see these other lists?
2. I would like to include the custom lists that are located in the 'recent' navigation pane as a view that only I can use. This would be based upon userid. If this is possible, how would you combine the lists lists in the same view? If this is not possible,
how would you set a view just for the lists listed under the 'recent' section?
3. The content approval solution under versioning settings of a library to restrict the documents to only ones that the user created (and also Approver rights). Then if they create a new view they still won't see the documents that were not created by
them. What about custom lists that are not in the documents area but are in the 'recent' area? Would this restrict users to see only items that they created?
4. Item level Permissions in advance settings solve this problem for the list in the document area and the custom list in the recent area? If so, how would you setup these values?

As it turns out the, setting Item-Level Permissions in a library is fully supported with PowerShell!
The PowerShell commands for changing this are very simple:
$web = Get-SPWeb http://YourSite/
$list = $web.Lists[“Your Document Library Name”]
$list.ReadSecurity = 2
$list.Update()
$web.Dispose()
Note the 3rd line which is where you determine the value for this setting using the following values:
1 = “Read all items”
2 = “Read items that were created by the user”
If you wish to modify the values for Create and Edit access instead, replace .ReadSecurity with .WriteSecurity with
the following values:
1 = “Create and edit All items”
2 = “Create items and edit items that were created by the user”
4 = “None”
For example:
$web = Get-SPWeb http://YourSite/
$list = $web.Lists[“Your Document Library Name”]
$list.WriteSecurity = 2
$list.Update()
$web.Dispose()

HELP, please! My photos have disappeared from iPhoto library & I can only see them on the screensaver.

Firstly, I should say we haven't updated/installed/deleted anything. I just opened iPhoto yesterday and first it told me it couldn't open up without specifying a library, but then it seemed our library has just disappeared. I then created a new library as, I have to admit, me & my DH are complete tecno dummies, but that didn't help much. The only thing which we have done in the past couple of days is set up the screensaver to play our photos. So now we can only see the photos on that - I'm presuming that means they haven't been completely lost (?) but am in a panic as we've got no back-up (three years worth of photos!).
When I go on 'system preferences' (hope that's the correct translation, our computer's using Italian) and the screensaver, I can see 'picture folder' where all the photos are but I can't find that anywhere else on the computer.
Also, I read other threads about similar probs & tried launching iPhoto pressing down 'option & control' but that didn't help me out either.
We also spent half an hour on the phone to the Apple helpline here in Italy (yes, that's a charged call) to try and understand what's gone wrong and the advisor just kept telling us she didn't know how to help us out 'cause our Mac is an old model
Apologies in advance for my complete ignorance about how to solve this problem but I'd be really grateful if someone out there could shed some light on what's happened.

when you say to go to my Pictures Folder, do you mean to go on Finder, then Pictures, then look at the iPhoto library?
Yes. Is there more than one there?
The material in your screensaver are cached images. They cannot be recovered and soon they will go way.
If you have deleted your Library (and it sounds like you have done this, accidentally) the you have deleted your Photos and you need to restore from your back up.

Installed 8GB in DV6-2190 laptop but only seeing 3.99 usable - using Windows 7 64-bit

Hi there ... I have a HP DV6-2190 laptop, running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, and have installed 8GB of RAM. The BIOS sees this RAM just fine, as does a bootable Linux distro. However, in Windows, I am only seeing 3.99 usable. Since Resmon shows that the first 4GB are hardware reserved, does this mean that that 4GB of RAM is completely consumed by the video card? Is there a way to get it use a bit less and give my programs a bit more? I do end up running out of memory when using music editing programs and VST hosts, such as Cubase.

I have solve this problem.
I plug in a usb 3.0 HDMI blackmagic capture device in to the mac mini and connected the HDMI out of the macmini to the HDMI in of the black magic.
So it thinks it has a primary screen and it now mirror this the apple tv.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

Making a slide show and can only see the top 1/4 of the bottem line of photos in the project. help?

I am working with beat markers and it was going along fine until suddenly everything went awry. I dropped in a bunch of photos and the last photo assigned itself a time of over 3 minutes. Beat markers are at less than 1 second. I have removed the beat markers for the photos I want to remove, in order to try again. When I try to delete the 3 minute picture the entire project loses its beat markers AND on top of all of that, I can only see the top 1/4 of the pics in the bottom line of the project. I've tried several work arounds and can't fix this. Anyone have suggestions?

I'm trying to not personalize this too much, but it's grandkids talking to Grandma and Mom and Dad trying to solve new machine hiccups. Normally, I could just go in via iChat and control the other machine and troubleshoot, but I can't do it with Facetime only. My buddy list doesn't see the other computer even though we are connected on Facetime right now. My name is not highlighted for the other computer. What could have gone so wrong?
