[SOLVED] Package without URL

Hello everyone!
I've made a very small package. It's made up of only two files (two small shell scripts), so I added them along with the PKGBUILD in the source tarball. I don't have a server to host the files, nor would I like to set up one (or register somewhere) to just store three kilobytes. So, my PKGBUILD has no url variable.
I've looked in the official guidelines, at the wiki, and it just says you have to put an URL. What should I do, then?

I'm with Scimmia, but have additional reasons: size isn't the only relevant factor. When packages do contain some form of code in the aur tarball (patches, install scripts, etc) it is (or should be!) only because the upstream source of the original source code (and/or installation procedure) is incompatible with arch linux. So this might include a patch to put things in the right directory, or a script to go in /usr/bin/ to launch a binary put in an odd location.
But in this case you are the upstream source. They're small ... so? They're yours. You don't need to fix someone else's work and include the fix in the tarball ... it's your work.
Also, github is handy for many other purposes. And I can assure you they do not 'spam' you with any sort of adds, or any nonsense. They also have *phenomenal* service reps. I emailed a question one day and within hours I had a very courteous, clear, and complete answer ... and I'm not subscribing, just using their free service. I avoid signing up for things as much as possible, but github is really just a great company/organization/site/whatever.

Is there a way to add files to a package without repackaging in a new folder?

So I'm working on this promotional binder for a company. I'm working section by section including photos and whatnot. Anyways, I got to a certain point with one section and packaged everything so I could start anew the following day.
My question is this: is there a way for me to add files to the InDesign file I already packaged WITHOUT having to repackage in a new folder and archive the old one?
I mean it just seems to me that I SHOULD be able to select the package option and the work would repackage/update the package, much like a Word file would when you select the save button.
(And if there isn't, is someone at Adobe paying attention that could make this a possibility? That would be fantastic.)

You can Add images to your package by using the Links Panel submenu (top right) and choose Utilities> copy links to...
And you can select the images you want first - or don't select any to copy them all.
Fonts - not so much.
But that's one easy way to get new images into your packaged folder.
But I don't like this to be honest. I much prefer creating a new Package and calling it "Version 2" or "Final Artwork" or something that is right by your file naming convention.

Can I get a text package without renewing my contract?

I am currently out of contract and I want to stay that way however, my wife and I are starting to text and we currently pay per text. I think it would be cheaper to get a text package than continue to pay per text.
Can I add a text package WITHOUT locking ourselves in for another new 1-2 year contract?

the only thing that could happen is if you bought the phone at someplace like bestbuy/walmart/amazon/ect
and are still under a contract you may get hit with an etf from them. they often have a seperate contract you sign
that says you wont change your plan within x number of days, the x varies by place.

OK. That wasn't clear at first. See the following:
Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS. Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term. Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default. You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.

How to run ActiveX bridge packager without VC++

Hello everybody,
The ActiveX Bridge Developer Gude states that I have to
install Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 with SP3 to run the ActiveX packager.
Is there a way to run the packager without installing MS VC++ on my computer?
What components from VC++ are actually required?
May be they can be found in other software?

Recovery time of transient response is defined as the time from the beginning of the transient to the voltage point on the waveform fallen into 10percent of the overshoot. Well, the waveform is something like a pulse with a soft slope.

I recommend plotting your data on a graph on paper. Take a look at the data, and determine what is unique about the point you are looking for. Look for how you can teach your program to look for this point.
I have written several algorithms that do similar, one in fact being for a power supply, the other being for RPM. Neither algorithm used any advanced analysis tools. They are just a matter of determining, mathematically, when you achieve what you are looking for. Just sit down with your graph (I recommend multiple copies) and draw horizontal and vertical lines that determine when you get to the point you are looking for. You are probably going to have to reverse the array and start from the end, so think in those terms.

l me a bitmap of the graph, and what you are looking for and I will try to be of further assistance. Don't do that however; until you you have given this a few tries. Your solution should be involve a lot of logic on analog levels.

Installing packages without confirmation

Pretty much what the title says.
I want to write a script that downloads and installs packages without the need to confirm that I want to install those.
I couldn't find anything in the wiki or the man page about this, could it still be done?
Or do I have to submit a feature request?

Replace libgl provider package without nixing my system

I need to force replace nvidia-libgl with mesa-libgl on my desktop machine but I get a dependency issue from packages that list nvidia-libgl as a dep. I know that they function perfectly with mesa-libgl as that's what's set up on my laptop so logically it must be possible to switch the packages without having to recursively remove everything that requires a libgl provider.
Is there a simple way to do this via pacman that I haven't spotted?

I figured it might be something like that. It's curious because on my laptop right now I have the nvidia-ck-sandybridge package installed (from graysky's linux-ck repo) which lists nvidia-libgl as dependency despite the fact that the mesa-libgl package is installed instead and yet pacman doesn't seem to have an issue with that (presumably because they provide libgl).
UPDATE: I think I've spotted the issue, bumblebee (for nvidia optimus based laptops) provides nvidia-libgl thus satisfying the dependency on my laptop whereas my desktop doesn't need bumblebee.
This is kind of annoying because I think the nvidia-libgl update recently broke mono applications and I want to swap it out for mesa-libgl to test my theory.

[SOLVED] unrealircd without ssl?

Hey guys, I recently picked up a raspberry pi and decided to try out running archlinux for my needs which are basically a mumble server, unrealircd server and a web server. I've run into an issue with unrealircd, one that's happened to me on windows as well. For whatever reason I can't get the configuration to work with unrealircd + ssl. The second i install the non ssl server and run my .conf it's fine and i can connect. Is there a package without ssl? I'm still new to the whole pure command line linux and all that so i'm not sure how to easily browse the different packages. So either if there's a non ssl package, or a way to disable ssl in the .conf would be lovely to know about. Thanks guys!

What error messages specifically are you getting with unrealircd and ssl? I don't remember that being much of a challenge to set up.
Looking at my configuration file, just had to tell it where to find the certificate and key:

certificate ssl.crt;
key ssl.key;
If you really want to disable it, try removing the "ssl;" line from the port configuration section and link section (not sure if anything else needs to be done, but that's the only references I can find to ssl).

I don't use a proxy. My isp uses authentication from the browser, when the browser is authenticated with the username and password, the whole system will be connected to the internet as long as the authentication page is open.

[solved] package verification, some packages unverified

Some of my packages seem to not be validated, they say
Validated By : Unknown
but after reinstall
Validated By : Signature
Some also say validated by md5 and sha, any idea about this inconsistency?

pacman -Si package
as apposed to -Qi

How do I use bin variable in package without asking a user?

I would like to write an SQL but I want to use bind variable in package as a static without asking user? Like below?
I would like to ask you, below there is a emp_id variable? Is this BIND variable?

Compiling a package without disturbing the load process

I need to compile a package, with the changes, in the database without stopping the load process that is using this package. Please let me know if any one has any ideas.

ThanksIf you mean: "I need to create or replace a package", while some session is still running code of that package.
Then sorry: nocando.
Unless you are on 11.2, in which case you could (with the necessary preparation/configuration done first) create a new version of the package in another edition than the session is using. But the session will have to finish its work using the package as-is currently.

I'm trying to fix a system that died in the middle of a `pacman -Syu` (via `pacman -Qenq | -S -`) and I'm having a ton of problems with packages begin invalid. I've set my clock and cleared the cache several times, and I'm still getting invalid signature errors. Here's the debug output from one invalid package:

When the validity check doesn't fail, the unpack often will, implying the same package is still bad.
It could be a bad mirror, in theory, except it's intermittent (albeit frequent), and my top mirror is kernel.org.
EDIT: Looks like the failure hosed something basic- reinstalling pacman's dependencies (including glibc) ended up triggering "illegal instruction" errors (and ultimately segfaults), and rebooting caused the same behavior in systemd.
When in doubt, boot install media, mount target and `pacstrap -cM base`.
This (pacstrapping base and then reinstalling everything) appears to have fixed the root problem, although I'm still experiencing echoes of the problem.
