[SOLVED] Pacmanager error after uuid update

I have been using pacmanager for awhile and have had no issues with updates to its dependencies. Today an update to uuid came and I started getting errors when trying to start pacmanager. So I went to the AUR page noticed someone previously had the same issue and they solved by rebuilding the AUR packages that were dependencies. I went through that and did not getting any further in the solving of the problem, also tried rebuilding all the dependencies as well as the main package after they were rebuilt still to no avail. Can anyone shed some light on what I am missing here, I feel like it should be obvious but for some reason is evading me.
Can't locate OSSP/uuid.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/share/pacmanager/lib /usr/share/pacmanager/lib/ex /usr/share/pacmanager/lib/edit /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl /usr/share/perl5/site_perl /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl /usr/lib/perl5/core_perl /usr/share/perl5/core_perl .) at /usr/share/pacmanager/lib/PACMain.pm line 39.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/share/pacmanager/lib/PACMain.pm line 39.
Compilation failed in require at /usr/bin/pac line 35.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/bin/pac line 35.
So as you see it seems to not being able to find something from uuid. Thanks for any help or smacking me to realize what I am missing here. Also I did verify what it is looking for does not exist on my system.
EDIT:
While trying to still sort this out I have run into something that seems "weird" to me I was looking over the uuid package just a moment ago, and the AUR page stats it was uploaded first today, yet it has been installed on my box before today? I know the package I maintain on AUR actually shows when it was first submitted normally. How could this have been used as a dependency before this but was initially submitted the 8th yesterday? It may be nothing just seems strange to me, also if it was submitted on the 8th its all ready been orphaned.
EDIT2:
Well after lots of tinkering around I cloned the AUR repo to get the -8 version of uuid to see if I could notice what had changed through the update. I noticed that configure was missing the --with-perl call which is why I was missing the file that I was. But the part that I still do not get is how can an unmaintained packaged get updated, and with major changes. It got a new patch and a new PKGBUILD between -8 and -9. I am trying to sort through what the actual differences are with the patches as time permits for me, if I can confidently say why the changes took place I will take over the package as well, but honestly at this point I am at a loss for why the changes that were done took place on the 8th.

Not really sure what is/was up with that. I took over maintaining the package in the AUR though. I fixed it for pacmanager to build the perl parts properly. We will see how it goes.
It is possible though that is what happened is it went from [community] to AUR. Just always thought it was an AUR package to being with, I could be wrong though.

  • [solved] AGP Error after last update with fglrx driver

Hello. I updated today (current: the new beyond kernel and the new fglrx driver) and have errors.
This i found in my Xorg.0.log:
(EE) fglrx(0): [agp] unable to acquire AGP, error "xf86_ENODEV"
    (EE) fglrx(0): cannot init AGP
    Any ideas?

    Ok:
    Full Xorg.0.log.
This is from the Stock Kernel, I normaly used the Beyond Kernel, but rebooted with this for testing. Its the same error.

    but no effect.
Update was done while in runlevel 3, so without X.
Also tried to rmmod and then removed the fglrx packages, reinstalled the packages and load the module -> no effect, same error
    Module is loaded correctly:
    [sorcerer@sorcdesk ~]$ lsmod | grep fglrx
    fglrx 382828 0
    agpgart 27108 2 fglrx,intel_agp
    // edit :
Found the old Packages for 8.24.8 in my pacman cache and installed them. With this version all is fine.
Any ideas, why the new driver version is not working?

    Ok.
The last problem I got was covered here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=89043
sudo pacman -S librsvg did the trick. (I don't know why, since it isn't a recompile)
I'm still not 100% sure that all packages have been recompiled for other programs I've not checked to work properly, but I'll mark this as solved.

I keep getting a msvcr80.dll error after iTunes update failed?

Seems the base of the problem is the update installation does not change the libraries but the software wants to see them changed.  So the user has to go clear out all software that shares the libraries and then install the full version so they are rebuilt properly.

  • [SOLVED] broken gnome after lib update

    Hi all
After the update, startx fails w/ gnome but not w/ kde. I know that my xf86-video-intel was changed to xf86-video-intel-uxa. next I tried xf86-video-intel-sna (because it is listed on arch's xps15z page) and still no success.
I would really love some help. The actual fail goes something like: wallpaper, mouse, top bar (w/ clock etc) and then the bottom bar, and right when it looks like it will hand over control, I get dropped into gnome error screen letting me know that something went wrong.
    Thank you

I am. I prefer to run as root.
I have tried running as non root and the result is the same.
Do you think it has to do with /lib changes?

  • Tons of permission errors after iLife updates....

I always repair permissions before and after any updates..
Before the iLife update I had just one permission error with cups or whatever, I always get that one...
After the iLife update, I am having hundreds of errors every time I repair.. I also had a kernel panic this morning..
I ran FSCK, hundreds of errors.
I've used disk utility to repair disk.. No problems found.
I've used Disk Warrior, No problems found..
Anyone else experience this? Should I try and reapply the standalone installer? I hate to reinstall any software with all these permission errors.
    Advice?

Yes, everything seems to be working fine.. I reapplied the standalone, no longer have hundreds of permission errors, but still have about 50 each time I repair.. The report shows all errors related to front row and iPhoto..
If it's no cause for concern, I won't worry about it..

  • [Solved] Pacman error after incomplete upgrade

    Hi
I was updating my archlinux when my X11 crashed (I was restarting it after tweaking my gnome 3) .
Trying to update after that indicated that my system was already uptodate. Installing anything indicated that pacman was running else to delete a file /var/lib/pacman/db.lck , which I did.
Now I can install but get these errors (for an example of re-installing pacman):

  • [Solved] Audio dead after system update

I was having a difficult time with network issues so I did a system update last night, and while it cured my network woes something broke my sound which was working fine before. I use MPD and Ario to play music and VLC to play video and both have no sound. I tried everything in the wiki to no avail, and searched the BBS for ideas (I always use startx).
I did several lsmod, aplay -l, aplay -L, etc commands and everything looks just the same as before the update. I checked audio levels in alsamixer, and even tried to install pulseaudio on top of several reboots and adding myself to audio. The only thing else that might help is I hear a pop from my speakers every so often. I don't know what else to provide that could help. It's hard for me to figure out because everything looks normal, and the cards are even being initialized as far as I can tell.

*EDIT: I went ahead and tried a few more things and reread the PulseAudio entry in the wiki and used pavucontrol as a last ditched effort and found that after the update it seems the soundcard became muted somehow even though I never had pulse installed before on this machine.
I should have tried that first, sorry for anyone who wasted their time on this thread and a good lesson for fellow newbies is to always try control packages first before moving onto other means/making a thread. Marking this as solved.

  • [solved] X11 desaster after todays update!

    Hi!
I have some big problem after todays update of my system. I just installed the new Kernel 2.6.19-beyond (I need this one because of my reiser4 partitions) and rebuild the nvidia module for it. After the usual restart I'm no longer able to start KDM or KDE at all. Whenever I want to start KDE the either by using kdm or startx my computer starts working for about 5 seconds, the screen starts to switch as usual, but than I get thrown back to the console, having a blank screen laft and the computer doesn't react anymore.
It also stops working immediately and I only can push trhe reset button. This is some fatal problem since I have lots of work that needs to be done. I also switched the xorg.conf to the nv or vesa module but still the same thing happens. I also rebuild the beyond kernel but the same thing.
So can anybody help me with this. I need to get my work done and couldn't find any answer to this. This is very urgent since I already have a schedule that is almost out of control.
    Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the advice. But I usually delete the cache after a while, so it just happened that I did this a couple of days ago so I don't have the previous kernel in there.
About the Xorg.0.log, I already checked it for any error or warning by using
    more /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep WW
    and
    more /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep EE
but there's nothing in there that indicates any problem. Both results don't show any warning or error. Besides that I didn't change the xorg.conf after the update and it worked before....
But thanks anyway for trying to help me out. Do you (or anybody else here) have another idea that I might have not thought of?
So I'm still stuck on this and my working clock is ticking.
I really don't have any clue what this might cause.  :?
    Thanks!

  • [SOLVED] tp_smapi fails after system update (to 2.6.39)

I am currently running Arch Linux on my ThinkPad X41.
I am having troubles trying to get tp_smapi work on my system after the full system update that I did yesterday. I jumped from (12.2010) 2.6.36 to kernel 2.6.39. Since yesterday, tp_smapi was working perfectly, but after the update, it seems that the new kernel cannot recognize the tp_smapi module. I tried to remove and insert it again with modprobe tp_smapi, but I am getting: "FATAL: Module tp_smapi not found" every time.
As I have build tp_smapi from AUR, I removed it with pacman -Rd tp_smapi and installed my package again. Even removed hdapsd and reinstalled it again after tp_smapi and I am getting the same - the module could not be found.
I saw that there is a slightly newer tp_smapi in AUR, but currently I am not able to build the package, as I am getting some build() errors like: "gcc: error -pg and -fomit-frame-pointer are incompatible."
This PKGBUILD seems a patch for 2.6.37 kernel and probably could not build directly under the new kernel. Anyway, I am still not able to bring the good old tp_smapi to working condition.
Anyone with a working solution about this?
edit: I have posted this in another thread, but hope this should be useful in a separate topic.

    Hey, SUCCESS out here...
@whompus, thanks so much for the precious advices and clues.
First, I looked into this thread (very useful as well): https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=80138
Following it, I found out a new gcc CFLAG argument, primary used in newer gcc versions (after gcc v4.2)
    -march=native
According to the information, given it should automatically detects the features your CPU supports and sets the options appropriately.
Setting my /etc/makepkg.conf accordingly, and adding some other useful options, my tp_smapi package build succeded.

  • [SOLVED] Strange error message when updating Pacman

I get a following error message when updating pacman and doing system upgrades:

I tried running pacman -Syyu, but that did not seem to solve the problem.  There is /var/lib/pacman/local/openssl-0.9.8l-1/
directory but it is empty.  When running pacman -S openssl, I get the above error message as well but it spans for hundreds of buffer lines.  In the end I end up with this:
    openssl: /usr/share/man/man3/ssl.3.gz exists in filesystem
    openssl: /usr/share/man/man3/ui.3.gz exists in filesystem
    openssl: /usr/share/man/man3/ui_compat.3.gz exists in filesystem
    openssl: /usr/share/man/man3/x509.3.gz exists in filesystem
    openssl: /usr/share/man/man5/config.5.gz exists in filesystem
    openssl: /usr/share/man/man5/x509v3_config.5.gz exists in filesystem
    openssl: /usr/share/man/man7/des_modes.7.gz exists in filesystem
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
    [mike@goat ~]$
    Anybody have any insight?

Sounds to me like openssl is installed on your system but the info on it is now missing from the local pacman database (/var/lib/pacman/local).  In other words, pacman forgot that you installed it.  So in your second clip of code, pacman is complaining that files belonging to openssl exist in your filesystem, since you do have it installed but it no longer knows that.
Don't know if this is the proper way to fix it, but I imagine forcing a reinstall of openssl (pacman -Sf openssl) should get pacman to reinstall openssl so that it knows it is installed.
    Bregol,
    pacman -Sf openssl
seemed to have fixed it.  Did not know of the force reinstall option.  The necessary directories in /var/lib/pacman/local/openssl have been created.
    Thanks,
