[Solved] postfix local mail delivery fails

Hi Guys,
on my home pc i use postfix (gmail as a smtp relay) and fetchmail for sending/receiving mails, this works very well, however sending a mail to a local user fails, I'm lost here and need your help guys.
if i send a mail like :
$>echo "Test" | mail -s "Test : local mail delivery" "andy"
The mail stays in the queue for ever...
$>mailq
-Queue ID- --Size-- ----Arrival Time---- -Sender/Recipient-------
CC82513BCA* 455 Sun Aug 3 09:53:09 [email protected]
[email protected]
Sending to external addresses works without any problems.
Here some important info/config files :

# of all parameters. For the syntax, and for a complete parameter
# list, see the postconf(5) manual page (command: "man 5 postconf").
# For common configuration examples, see BASIC_CONFIGURATION_README
# and STANDARD_CONFIGURATION_README. To find these documents, use
# the command "postconf html_directory readme_directory", or go to

# For best results, change no more than 2-3 parameters at a time,
# and test if Postfix still works after every change.
# SOFT BOUNCE
# The soft_bounce parameter provides a limited safety net for
# testing. When soft_bounce is enabled, mail will remain queued that
# would otherwise bounce. This parameter disables locally-generated
# bounces, and prevents the SMTP server from rejecting mail permanently
# (by changing 5xx replies into 4xx replies). However, soft_bounce
# is no cure for address rewriting mistakes or mail routing mistakes.

I have solved it, and this was the problem (main.cf) message_size_limit = 0 i have set this to unlimited "0" so bigger mails not get rejected by postfix, the defualt value was 10240000 (~10 Mb) after finally checking the postfix log with journalctl -u postfix (because /var/log/mail.log) is not used anymore i found this line : "fatal: main.cf configuration error: mailbox_size_limit is smaller than message_size_limit" after setting mailbox_size_limit to unlimited "0" postfix starts to delivery local mail.

  • Yosemite mac mail drowning in mail delivery failed messages I didn't send!

    babs bellNov 14, 2014 7:03 PM
Since upgrading to Yosemite, I am getting hundreds (tens of thousands this week!) emails that read:
    From: Mail Delivery System
Subject: Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender
But I didn't send any of the emails! I've spent this entire week deleting them, working on phone with my server who claims to have fixed it (NOT!), and 5 hours on phone support with Apple today. Still happening. There must be a setting that is screwed up in Yosemite, eh? Who can help me? Using Mac Mail on Mac Book Pro. I'm drowning here! GLUG. Thanks!
    Edit

Did all of that with Apple and they nor my server thought this was the problem, nor did they get it resolved. I'm wondering if there's a rule in Mail preferences that I accidentally deleted that could be the cause. There were two rules and neither made any sense to me but as soon as I deleted the first one, I realized I probably shouldn't have. And there's been a huge problem since...not sure that's why but I must find the resolution. I did have genieo somehow installed so Apple got it uninstalled and did tons of things to my system to clean this and that. BUT the problem remains. If you use mac mail and Yosemite, can you check the two rules that automatically were in the mail preferences window to tell me what rule I deleted? Thank you so very much!

It's as if the .mac smtp code is ADDING a bcc to any message sent to me! All the comments to date have been less than encouraging - surely SOMETHING can be done about this! No?

  • Mail delivery failed

eprint center shows computr connected email address is allowed to send email to printer but when i send email get mail delivery failed  this is a permanent error 550 5.7.1 command

For those who are experiencing ongoing issues with their web services, you can attempt to try the following steps that may help resolve your problems.
1.) Completely shut down your printer and restart it
2.) If you have prints that have not printed, log into ePrint Center (or create an account if you do not have one) and then look for your printer status. If printer status is green but you still have pending jobs, delete the pending jobs one at a time (Starting with the oldest first). There may be a print job stuck in the queue that further restricts other jobs from completing.
    a. If option 1 or 2 above still doesn’t work, removing web services and re-adding web services will cause the printer to reattach to the cloud.
    b. Please note that if you attempt option 3, you will get a new eprint email address (and lose your custom one with no ability to get it back) furthermore, you will need to re-add your printer back to your ePC account.

  • Mail delivery fail but still received mail

    hi
i keep receiving 2 messages straight after receipt of the original which is readable..
    1st message: mail delivery fail
    2nd message: undeliverable
i have no problem reading the original message
    regards
    kel

This is a problem with your recipients ISP not delivering the email, or with Comcast in not sending it once it reaches their mail servers. You should check with your recipients to find out if they use the same ISP, and have them check with the ISP to ask why mail sent from a Comcast account is not being delivered.
If this affects all your recipients (assuming there are many more than just the two you mentioned), then its a Comcast issue and you should call them and insist they make any necessary changes so everyone can receive email from you. If it only affects those two recipients, they would need to call their ISP and have them make the necessary changes.

  • Thunderbird Issue. Thousands of inbound e-mails from "Mail Delivery Failed" from people to whom I've never attempted to send an e-mail.

All inbound e-mails are going directly to "TRASH" how do I fix this? I also have has thousands of inbound e-mails from "MAIL DELIVERY FAILED" involving people to whom I have never attempted to send an e-mail. Whats the cure? I have to use Time Warner as an internet connection and there is a duplicate of about half of what I'm getting in inbound traffic on Thunderbird.

The inbound is Backscatter see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backscatter_%28email%29
The trash issue is most likely the SPAM tool that comes with your anti virus program. Try disabling the tool in the anti virus suite and see how you get on.

Do you still have this issue? You can turn off email notifications (under the Options Tab > Email Notifications in FormsCentral) if you do not wish to receive any email when a form is submitted
Or are you saying you want to receive the email but the format is bad? If this is the case do you mind forwarding one of the email to me ([email protected]).

  • Outlook 2003 mail delivery failed for Active Directory user

    Server 2003/Exchange2003
We are using an outside company (Integra) to handle our email and only use Exchange for shared archived email.
When configuring active directory users the wizard automatically sets up email entries in the format: [email protected]
When responding to a meeting invite from outlook to a local AD user, all users receive undeliverable messages for the accounts in the format [email protected] as below...
The example below was a bounce back when I accepted the invite.  The invite shows up on my calendar just fine.

Well it looks like none of our outlook installations actually are accessing the exchange email, nor are we able to send to those email addresses even though they exist.  I have 2 email inboxes in Outlook, 1 is the Integra inbox - works fine.  The
other is called Mailbox - UserName - populated with folder that are and always have been empty.  If I send an email to myself at [email protected]  I get the following bounce back.

  • Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender (Only One User)

    Hi,
I am facing really strange issue from last two days but fail to resolve the issue.
My hosted exchange 2010 is working absolute fine. I configured new domain (previously using SBS2003 with Postini service), all users are working fine no spam emails, NDR etc (We are using Forefornt Protection 2010 for Exchange Server, All engines are updated)
but only one user/email address continuously receiving spam emails. Please review the attach pictures of Message Tracking, Email and Header.
I really don't know what is the issue, users continuously receiving below emails after 2 or 3 minutes, i am just wondering why my exchange server allow those email address. How i can stop these emails.
Note: Old SBS server is shutdown. Postini service is already disabled.
    Please help me.

    Hi,
According to your description, it seems that the user's computer has virus.
I recommend you scan the user's computer and check if any virus caused the issue.
    Thanks.

Also, since you have tried that for your test environment, how you are proceeding the hybrid migration ?
You can get better help by using
exchange server deployment assistant for hybrid deployment migration which auto configure the all setup according to our exchange environment.
    Moreover, here is another appreciable
resource which can be a good approach to proceed migration from exchange 2010 to office 365.

i do alse receive from gmail....
    please help... what is happening!!!!

Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app.  I am certain other applications also need this information.  Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information.  Feel free to post additional information, faulty information, or other related topics below as this is simply a collection of data and it would be practically impossible to test all of them. Thank you!
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" if I helped solve your problem.
When a solution is found please mark the post that solves your issue.
