[SOLVED]Replacement for pkgd

Hi,
I was using pkgd up until today to share pacman packages across the network. This is very useful because my internet connection is extremely slow and updating packages like tex would usually take almost an hour. I was able to go to my university update my netbook and then share them with my pc when I got home.
According to this thread, pkgd is no longer being supported.

I was wondering if there are any viable alternatives to it. I've looked into pkgdistcache but it doesn't work. I'm not very fluent in python and the following errors don't mean much to me.

Any suggestions? I know I could set up a local mirror and mount a shared folder, but I'm just wondering how well that will work when I'm roaming with my netbook?

Well I tried that, I used quickserve. The problem I had was my netbook has ati graphic card and my desktop has an nvidia. So while it was updating it would give me an error about a corrupted file pretty much an empty file. I haven't been able to figure out to tell it if the package is missing download it from a different server...
I tried pkgdistcache a couple weeks ago, I wasn't able to get it to work for me though. I'll give it another try when I have some updates.

Warranty on iPhone is not international, but valid only in country of
original sale. Since you purchased the iPhone in Australia, your warranty
is valid only in Australia. You must either personally return the iPhone
to Australia for evaluation and possible replacement or sent it to someone
in Australia to take into Apple for the evaluation. Apple will not accept
international shipments for repair nor will Apple ship out of the country
after replacement.
Sorry to be the bearer of this news, but it is the way iPhone warranty and
replacement has always worked.

I have transferrer my self using WD Smart ware and a separate win 7 backed up to a WD 2T external ( win 7 backup is now struggling to back up but I do have one copy)
when new HD was put in, and repair disk put in it wouldn't pick up the back up off the WD 2 T. WIN 7 or my manual backup.
So I loaded up a win 7 32bit (off an older computer which is now parts) but it wouldn't reconis Win 7 back up on the WD 2 T.
Using WD smart ware. I did transferrer all the files over to the new HD but could only make an put it in a new folder. Not reload back to the same as it was before I had to transferrer every thing.
I am know stuck with win 7 32bit can't use all 6G memory an no Hp info on comp .+ no ordinal programs or settings install

Photo sharing replacement for mobileme galleries

HI all,
I'm sure there are others out there, like me, who built their entire gallery strategy on using Apple's "mobileme galleries," and now you have had to find a replacement for that becuase as we all know....There will be no replacement for Galleries in iCloud, you'll need to find another service to host your photos.
So..what have you people done to solve the issue.
I'd love to know. I am still using iWeb and have a host for my site, but I need something to get some galleries on display. I used to love using the "mobileme galleries" and really miss that so much. It was so elegant and simple.
If there are any suggestions you can share, please fire away.

Word Replacements for Non- English Characters

Does anyone have an idea on implementing Word Replacements for non- english characters in TCA- DQM 11i.
We are trying to identify, capture and cleanse common accented characters like à, â , ê
However, the default language for replacement is American English , So even if we add these in the existing lists it will not take any effect
Is creating a new Word replacement list for every language the solution ?? any patch recommendations???

This entry has some suggestions for handling mnemonics in resource bundles, and they would take care of translated mnemonics - as long as the translated values are restricted to the values contained in the VK_XXX keycodes.
And since those values are basically the English (ASCII) character set + a bunch of function keys, it doesn't solve the original problem - how to specify mnemonics that are not part of the English character set. The more I look at this I don't really understand the reason for making setMnemonic (char mnemonic) obsolete and making setMnemonic (int mnemonic) the default. If anything this has made the method more difficult to use.
I also don't understand the statement in the API about setMnemonic (char mnemonic):
"This method is only designed to handle character values which fall between 'a' and 'z' or 'A' and 'Z'."
If the type is "char", why would the character values be restricted to values between 'a' and 'z' or 'A' and 'Z'? I understand the need for the value to be restricted to one keystroke (eliminating the possibility of using ideographic characters), but why make it impossible to use all the Latin-1 and Latin-2 characters, for instance? (and is that in fact the case?) It is established practice on other platforms to be able to use characters such as '�', '�' and '�', for instance.
And if changes were made, why not enable the simple way of specifying a mnemonic that other platforms have implemented, by adding an '&' in front of the character?
Sorry if this disintegrated into a rant - didn't mean to... :-) I'm sure there must be good reasons for the changes, would love to understand them.

Create 2 text variables(T1& T2) processing type as replacement path. For T1 set the option as "From" for use interval and for T2 set the option as "To" for use interval. Then you can use the header as T1-T2. This should solve your problem.

Well, trying to save Groupwise as the product of choice at a
customersite.
There errors/issues are just expanding over time and regardless of
information given with Intellisync's demise and the upcoming
alternative, it looks as if GW will be thrown out if a replacement for
GMS can't solve these issues they are having..

yeah,, I try to follow/find any info that's hopefull,
problem is .....there's no timeline...as I understand it.
Nothing strange with that since it's a new, coming product,

Replacement for dvd burner Optiarc ad-7530a

Does anyone know of a replacement for dvd rom drive ad-7530a, which came installed in my laptop?

Why they recommend (in doc's) to use mod_oc4j and not a mod_proxy for fronting SES with OHS and made no support of mod_oc4j this is a big mystery for me...

Replacement for the J6400

We currently have a HP OfficeJet J6400 All-in-One Printer. It works fine and we are happy with it. However, our platforms are changing. We both have iPhones, iPads and iPods. We need to migrate to an Air Printer in order to make better use of our technology. It's a pain to have to send something to another platform (laptop) and then print.
My question is, which HP with Air Print would be a good replacement for the J6400. We still want all the features of an All-in-One.

I personally think either the Officejet 6500A Plus or the Officejet Pro 8600 would be perfect for your upgrade. They share a similar design to that of the Officejet 6400 series. Disappearing CD/DVD drives seems to be way too common the last couple of years. You 'might' find that it actually reappears if you start the laptop up once without it, shut down, reinstall it and start up again.

Replacement for hib-dlagent

I've written a drop in replacement for hib-dlagent in python that uses the undocumented API (mostly, anyways). It's quite a bit faster as it logs in, fetches and parses about 30 orders in about 8 seconds by doing them all async. Also, I dont think there are any captchas.
I've not tested it extensively and it's pretty hacky right now, but I could clean it up if there is interest in it.

For whatever reason yesterday it wasn't requiring any captcha challenges, yet today it is. After delving a little deeper i now know there's no way around it, even the android app requires one to login...sometimes. Though I'm not sure why only sometimes.
I'll have to come up with a way of opening a browser, letting the user solve the captcha, and sending the challenge/response codes back to the script. Yay =\
Edit: It's actually not that bad. I can request a new challenge(s) using HB's public key, then fetch the image for the challenge and show it to the user. The response is just the text of the image, both the challenge id and response get posted to HIB's server along with the login creds for verification. It's just a matter of presenting the image to the user.

Introduction
I'll waste no time in expressing my opinion on this one: I loved the jog control in previous versions of Premiere, and a small part of my heart died when I realised that those beloved controls couldn't be reinstated in CS6 (though an ever larger chunk died when I realised that Q and W don't work by default in Prelude... ).
JKL is great as a concept, but in practice, not very responsive - it's difficult to make precise jumps in speed quickly, and I'd hate to log footage in CS6 using the JKL keys alone.
It was whilst reading through a different thread on the forums that I had an idea. Why not just jog with the middle mouse button? REAPER uses a similar idea to great effect for scrubbing.
And so the journey began.
Installing/using quickJog
Pre-requisites
Glovepie is only available for Windows. The script, therefore, only works on Windows.
Sorry Mac users.
To use quickJog, you'll need to download the following:
GlovePie, from glovepie.org. Doesn't matter whether you grab the version with or without emotiv support, as long as it's a recent version
The quickJog script, from bit.ly/getQuickJog (unreserved thanks go to Creative Inlet Films for hosting this)
A mouse with a middle-mouse button/clickable scroll wheel
You'll also need to ensure:
The JKL keys have not been re-mapped in Premiere. This is essential, as quickJog 'presses' the JKL keys to alter the jog speed in Premiere.
Installation/usage
Is currently as simple as...
Start Glovepie
From the File menu, select Open...
Navigate to wherever you unzipped the quickJog script. Open it.
Click the Run button
Click the [ .] button at the end of the menu bar to minimise Glovepie to the system tray
To shuttle, click on the program monitor, source monitor or trim monitor, and scroll the mouse wheel. This functionality is built-into Premiere. You can hold Shift for bigger jumps.
To jog, click and hold the middle-mouse button over the source monitor, program monitor, or timeline, and move left or right to increase/decrese the jog speed (just like the old jog slider).
QuickJog tracks the position of the mouse itself, not the position of your mouse cursor, so don't worry about the cursor touching the edge of your screen.
Keep your eyes on the video, not the mouse!
To exit, right-click the glovePie icon, and select Exit.
quickJog works in Prelude too, which is pretty cool.

In hindsight, I'm not surprised that the JKL keys are a popular choice amongst editors (especially for those who've moved across from other NLEs), but it does rest somewhat uncomfortably in my heart. It feels like Adobe have replaced the pedals and gearstick in my car with a keyboard: not great for those moments when a child runs into the road.
The Shuttle Pro (and Bella to my knowledge?) controllers emulate left/right arrow keypresses to do their work, making the playback 'glitchy' during shuttle operations - I don't like that. I didn't particularly like the feel of the Shuttle Pro when I tried it either. I do like controllers like this (I have one), but have been working for some time on interfacing between the Sony 9-pin protocol and Premiere.
As such, my intermediate preference has been to use a graphics tablet (with a keyboard) for NLE work - hence why having the jog/shuttle controls on screen was so darn useful! Now that I have quickJog mapped to the stylus eraser, edits are much faster.
Quick aside: Huge commendations on just how much can be mapped to keyboard shortcuts in Premiere, huzzah!
