[Solved] xscreensaver-command -lock not functioning

I've installed the xscreensaver-arch-logo package from the AUR and followed the wiki to get it up and running, although it returns this error
no screensaver running on display:0.0
Now I have included
xscreensaver -no-splash &
in my .xinitrc, which is where I start openbox. When I enter this command manually and then run the -lock command it works fine. So obviously its not being run from .xinitrc.. I have tried other variations
/usr/bin/xscreensaver -no-splash &
exec xscreensaver -no-splash &
neither work... I'm running the command after I run the exec command for openbox, if that makes any difference..
Anybody have any idea what is up?

OK... it is not running. That is showing you your grep command looking for it. Nothing is wrong with the package, but with the method you're using to start it.
Try this:
1)
% cp /etc/xdg/autostart/xscreensaver.desktop ~/.config/autostart
2) Logout and log back in.
3) Post the output of
ps aux | grep xscrensaver
I thought files in /etc/xdg/autostart are started by all users anyway?

[SOLVED] Xscreensaver-command -lock no longer working

As of yesterday afternoon (probably after the upgrade to 5.13-1), I have been unable to lock my monitor using xscreensaver. The screen fades to black, only to jump back to my desktop, and xscreensaver reporting a crash. I honestly can't see a reason from the log file, but I have little experience with programs like this. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could either confirm/let me know it's a bug that has no workaround, and I'll gladly report the bug.

Re-installing 5.13-1 (no change)
Restart of system & xscreensaver (no change in either case)
Downgrade to 5.12-2 (which works, as it did before)

Import command is not functional (greyed)

the "import" command is not available (grayed) I want to import my Safari bookmarks

I guess the first thing you now need to do is to get the latest drivers for your printer because as you say you uninstalled it from your machine and now reinstalled it again. I don't know why you thought printer should have been uninstall;led but anyway, please reinstall the driver and then see if it is recognized by your operating system and try scanning something as a test from outside the PSE13 before going back to PSE13 and trying to scan your real image.
Please post back so that Barbara or R_Kelly can help you as I don't use Apple Mac.

Put "xscreensaver -no-splash &" in ~/.xinitrc (before you start the wm) or in some other file that your wm uses for autostarting of apps.

Voice Command does not function anywhere on phone

Have owned the RAZR MAXX HD for two weeks. Voice Command functionality does not work regardless of whether I try to open it from the apps list, dialer, or contacts list. The error I get reads as follows: "Unfortunately, Voice Command has stopped." If I use the Google Now microphone it does seem to work on a limited basis for certain contacts. Would really like to use the phone hands free while driving but the lack of voice command functionality prevents this.

Fixed it! I had the same problem today with my Droid 4 and search the internet to find some answers. Techs were saying that you cannot roll back updates for the OS and what not but that is not true. I found a free App on Google Play that did backups and restores for apps and the OS. Even though it was too late to have a restore to go back to, I was able to see all the updates and loads that had happened today and uninstalled them from within the program and it did roll them back to the previous versions. I had to uninstall Google Search, Google Play Books and Zillow. and then my Voice Commands would work again. The error I was receiving when I tried to voice command was "Unfortunately Vioce Commands has stopped". I hope this helps someone. NOt trying to sell anything but the App that worked was AppMonster Free Backup Restore.

[SOLVED] Bleachbit command line not working

I am trying to incorporate bleachbit into a script "bleachbit -c". I have tried bleachbit from community and bleachbit-svn and bleachbit-cli from the aur. No matter what I do I get this error:

[Solved] Rankmirrors command does not give the fastest mirrors.

Hello Dear Arch users,
This is not ,actually, a real issue but a simple question.
When I uncomment all mirrors in mirror.pacnew and rank them like with
"rankmirrors -n 12 /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist.pacnew > /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist"
,and try to do a "pacman -Syy", some mirrors failed to connect or time out, so I comment
them in mirror.pacnew and redo the process.
Would there be a way of having only the faster mirrors that don't time out or failed to connect?
If the answer is "no", I think I can begin coding a script that does exactly like rankmirrors but that has not bad" mirrors.

[SOLVED]Clickable Dzen not Functioning

I've been hunting the past few days trying to make my dzen bar clickable.
Mainly to switch workspaces in xmonad, and later adding mpd to my dzen bar clicking next stop previous so on.
I've learn that dzen had add a clickable functionality with the ^ca().
There are a few pages about xmonad with dzen clickables.
Such as

Put no matter who's configuration I try using dzen is not clickable.
Also my workspaces are always named wierd things like
^a(1,xdotool key super+1()1^a() [for first one]
^a(1,xdotool key super+1()1^a() [for second one]
Is the character c being escaped?
If someone could please tell me how to troubleshoot this problem I will be very greatful.
I've also been searching through the xmonad dzen and xmobar hacking thread.
And they have the format from the link i provided above, and it works for them no problem.

First, please make sure your Office program is fully patched.
If you installed any third-part program that is integrated to Microsoft Office, please temporarily disable the integration to check the result. Also try to disable all add-ins in Office programs to check the result.

"ChnCFCFiltCalc" in Crash option not functioning correctly

It appears that the "EndPoints" option for the "ChnCFCFiltCalc" command is not functioning correctly. It does not seem to be reflecting the points to pad the data at the beginning and end of the signal. This is based on the results of filtering done with and without the option activated. Not activating the option appears to reflect the data and you get the results you would expect to see with the option activated. Activating the option give you results you would expect to see without the option activated.
I am using Version 8.0.981
This was functioning correctly in previous versions. Can you tell me when the "EndPoints" option stopped functioning correctly? I assume it was with Version 8.0. Is it correc

The parameter "CFCPREEVENTTYPE" is an enumeration variable with the selection "EndPoints" or "ZeroMagnitude" and not is optional.
Every mathematical function in DIAdem represents their parameters in global variables - eg. "CFCPREEVENTTYPE" as one parameter of the function "ChnCFCFiltCalc".
If you now call a function in a VBScript you have two possibilities
a) call the function with parameters like ChnCFCFiltCalc(X, Y, E, CFCFiltType, 0,"EndPoints")
b) call the function without parameters like ChnCFCFiltCalc
In case b) DIAdem will use the current content of the global parameter variable.
Maybe that this is you problem.

CPU not functional - 1 blink of caps and num lock

I have HP Pavilion dv4 Notebook
It started giving me blank screen with caps lock and num lock blinking, and I went to the HP support and found out that it has something to do with "CPU not functional" thing. I have to say this diagnosis is bogus and on HP site it says I have to contact HP support for this, and when I go to contact HP support they said my warranty has ended so I cannot even send them an email about it except come to this forum again post my grievance. It seems this error is happening to many customers, and if I remember correctly CPU is not something that will go wrong suddenly, maybe the motherboard or battery, but all hardware parts not the CPU. It seems there is a known issue with DV series of notebooks where this blinking is happening. To your surprise I'm now using the same laptop to post this while the lights are still blinking. The best place HP support directed me was either to pay for service or to contact recycling, REALLY? Is this really the award-winning support HP has. I am dismayed with the intricacy the site has in getting your problems heard by HP and get a resolution. So here I am asking for the community forum if they have fixed their laptops after getting the famous "CPU not functional" error.
And now before I submit this, the cpu fan has started to make very scary noises, just like a small motor bike, somebody please help me.

Bought a Mac Mini. at 18 day's old it started to lock up and not function. Took it in and they wiped and reinstalled it. Well at 24 day's old it's been sitting in the box not being used. First and last Mac for me. But can I get something for the junk?

I have pulled it out of the box and put 2 Mac approved mem sticks in it to boost it to 8 Gigs mem and it still locks up and freazes.. So many people told me Mac was the way to go... 1500 dollers could have bought me a great pc laptop. Now I have a wirless mouse keyboard and a mac mini (aka Brick) that allowed me to donate money to a cause that is helping buildings and companies out side of the US. While I have junk.. It's still under warranty and I reinstalled the os after the new mem sticks. Again.. locks up and does nothing. What can I do with this? Toss it in the trash? Any info on what I might do with it.. Please help!

If your Mini is anything less than six months old it would be running Lion, not 10.6.1, nor would it have been necessary to "reinstall the OS". Any help that anyone can provide is predicated on your system configuration so it's important.
If you are running Lion then boot your Mini while holding the D key. This will load Apple Hardware Test which will enable you to test your memory. "Mac approved" memory is sort of vague, and even memory that is allegedly designed to meet your Mini's specification may fail. There few reputable memory vendors.
"Apple installed" memory is more meaningful, and indicates Apple has tested it and guarantees its function. Otherwise all bets are off with a claim of "Mac approved". You will have to verify that yourself with Apple Hardware Test.
If your Mini was running, or ever ran OS 10.6.1 for that matter, it is close to three years old.
You must clear up these uncertainties before anyone can help.

Sorry, but the warranty for the phone is only valid in the country where you bought the device, and you can't send it in, Apple does not ship internationally.
Has the phone been officially unlocked? Only the carrier can unlock an iPhone.

Hopefully one of these steps should solve the problem.
1. System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
    Highlight Internal Speakers
    Make sure that Mute is not enabled.
2. Remove the headphone.
    If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
    in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
    Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
3. Reset PRAM. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405

    Choose the method for:
    "Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
5. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup

6. System Preferences > Sound> Sound Effects
    Play sound effects through:
