Some kind of "IN LIKE" type comparison dealy?

I want to do something like...
SELECT * FROM emp WHERE position_no IN LIKE (SELECT position_no_prefix||'%' FROM some_other_dealy);
Given that's not possible, does anyone know of a good way to achieve the same?

         ,some_other_dealy sod
where position_no like sod.position_no_prefix||'%'
