Some Playlists Won't Shuffle

I have several playlists created on my iPod, but some of them won't shuffle. I thought that maybe there was a limit on the number of playlists you could have, so I created a test playlist and it worked just fine. The songs on the problem playlists will play just fine if I don't have "shuffle" selected. But if "shuffle" is selected then the iPod will only play one song at a time, and then only if I select that specific song to play. I've tried deleting the bad playlists and re-creating them (even with different names), but I get the same problem every time. Does anyone know what's up with this? Thanks!

does your "shuffle songs" function on the main iPod menu work? it could be that you have too few songs in the playlist maybe? other than that i've never heard of this.

  • Some playlists will not shuffle in iTunes

When I click on the shuffle button in the lower left hand corner, the tracks do not shuffle. This only happens in some playlists but not others. Can't seem to get these playlists to shuffle.
    Thanks.

    Slight correction.
It will shuffle just fine but it won't show the songs in the shuffled order.
The playlist will simply jump up/down when the next shuffle song plays.

  • Some playlists will not shuffle

Some of my playlists shuffle - visibly - and some won't. I'm using iTunes 8.2.1

The playlists that don't visisbly shuffle will still play shuffled.
For the playlists that do not change, you are sorting on a column (besides the very first one) so they display sorted on that column but will play shuffled. The playlist will jump up & down while playing.
The playlists that display shuffled are being sorted on the very first column which is the sequence number of the track. Thes playlists will display shuffled but will play in the order they are displayed.

  • Playlists won't shuffle

i recently got a new computer and updated to itunes 10.1.0.54.
none of my playlists on my ipod will shuffle anymore. they will only play in order. they also won't shuffle when i am playing directly through my ipod. it will shuffle my entire library, but not the playlists.
i've looked at answers to similar problems and the fixes didn't work for me, or i didn't understand them.
    thanks,
    wendy

I am having the same problem with all of my playlists now in iTunes 10.1 They will play in order, but will not shuffle. Once you try to let it play the next track during shuffle or click next track, it stops playing. Didn't have this problem until this recent iTunes update!

  • The music in my playlists won't shuffle?

So I updated my MacBook Pro last night and now my playlists wont shuffle correctly. When I turn on the shuffle feature and I have a column selected (number, rating, etc), all it does is rearrange the songs. it's not a real shuffle because I can still see which song is coming next (ie, songs 1, 2, and 3 might become 3, 1, and 2, but they'll still play in that order). When I turn on the shuffle feature without any column being selected, nothing happens. even though the shuffle button is blue, the songs in the playlists play in their exact order. the shuffle only seems to work properly when im playing music out of the entire music library, not one playlist.
is this a new feature of the updated itunes? or am i doing something wrong?

    Rearranging songs is shuffling them.

Yes itisi a real shuffle becuse the songs are not in track order. If you do not want to know what is coming next, don't look at the screen.
Or sort on any column besides the first (with the numbers) and the playlist will bounce around.
The first column is the play order.

  • Some playlists won't sync, why and how to fix?

So far I have found 5 playlists on my iTunes library that won't sync to my iPod. I have no issue with my previous iPod or my iPhone with those playlists but only with my late 2009 issue iPod classic (160GB).
Anyone know why or how to correct this issue?

    More Information:
The the difference in the Smart Playlists that appear in the iTunes left-side folder panel but not in the Devices/iPod/Music tab panel and those that appear in both is that they all contain the Match All rule term: "Playlist is ".
I need that rule because I load only a subset (about 9,000 songs) of the songs on iTunes onto my iPod Classic. I use a Non-Smart Playlist ("My iPod List") to enumerate those songs. Thus the various Smart Playlists need to be conditioned on that ("My iPod List") Playlist subset so that they do not load other songs from iTunes. This used to work just fine. One of the upgrade revisions to iTunes (9?) or the iPod broke it. Smart Playlist Rules that reference other Smart Playlist still work correctly.
    Can this bug be fixed?

  • My Playlists won't shuffle

My created playlist will no longer shuffle. I have shuffle turned on and I have it set to songs only in the preferences, but it still doesn't shuffle them. I have turned shuffle on and off about 100 times and it still doesn't work. Help? Also, I have the 60GB video pod.

  • Can some playlists shuffle by default and others not?

I have some playlists that I ALWAYS want to shuffle, like my “everything except jazz and classical” or maybe my “rock only” playlists. And now that I think about it I pretty much want almost all my playlists to shuffle. BUT, I nearly always want albums to play in order.
    So here’s my problem:
I set my 80gig iPod to “shuffle/songs” and listen to my “everything except jazz and classical” playlist and everything is fine. Then, I hear a song that makes me want to hear the whole album (in order) so I need to go to settings and select “shuffle/off.” Then when I get done with that album or I’m ready to move on and I want to shuffle one of my playlists I need to go back to settings and change shuffle again to songs.
    Possible Solution:
Since I nearly ALWAYS want certain playlists to play random (shuffle) and albums to always play in order isn’t there away (and there should be) to make certain playlist default to shuffle? I would think you should be able to right-click on a playlist and select “default shuffle for iPod” or something like that.
Anyone have a solution, because I’m really getting sick of turning shuffle on and off for the same thing over and over?
    Thanks,
    Eric

As of now, that's the only way to do it.

I have the same problem and I am very upset. I have heard that Apple/iTunes is removing all songs that are unlicened for this type of download. Apple does not want to be responsible for pirated music. Much of mine is down loaded from CD's.  I have to go to search and put in every song and then, if found,  put it into My Music then back into iTunes.  WHAT A HASSLE. I don't remeber reading anything about this. 224 songs so far.  NOT HAPPY.

  • Run keeper app won't shuffle my workout playlist even with the shuffle button on

Run keeper app won't shuffle my workout playlist. This started when I upgraded to Iphone 6.  The shuffle button will not stay in the on positio.

This is a problem with the app "Run Keeper" not iOS itself or your phone. Report your problem to the App developers.

  • IPod Touch won't shuffle full playlist

    iPod Touch, 16GB, iOS 6.1.6
Problem: Selecting shuffle on a particular playlist (900 songs) results in a shuffle of only 174 songs. Playing the playlist directly (without shuffle) plays all 900 songs. Playing the playlist in iTunes (either as is or shuffle) plays all 900 songs.
Other playlists (ranging from 137 songs to 467 songs) play/shuffle all songs as expected on both iPod and iTunes.
    Troubleshooting:
    * Shut down iPod and restarted - no change.
    * Reviewed playlist, resync - no change.
    * Recreated playlist from scratch, reloaded - no change.
    * Checked shuffle selection - last song is different every time (in case a corrupted MP3 was killing the shuffle)

Found the problem - apparently, one of my kids set "skip when shuffling" on a bunch of Christmas music when using iTunes as background music this summer..*laugh*

  • Audiobook won't shuffle on ipod nano (and other related issues)

I am learning German and I bought a set which comes with an audio companion that you can use on your MP3/ipod.  They come in units of no more than 3 minutes each and there are quite a few of them.  I uploaded the content onto iTunes.
First of all iTunes recognised them as music and displayed them in my music file.  No big deal, I went to 'Get info' on each one and changed the media kind to Audiobook so that they would show up there and not play with the rest of my music.
This is where the problems start: -
    1.  For some reason my nano won't shuffle the units.  I can only assume that it thinks these are 'books' which you wouldn't shuffle.  As such it simply plays one unit (3 mins long) and then repeats it.  It doesn't even move onto the next unit/book.  I've tried turning shuffle on and off, both on the ipod and on itunes to no avail.  I've gone into 'get data' and the tick-box which says 'Skip when shuffling' is greyed out and can't be unchecked.
    2.  I can't skip to the next unit like I would when listening to a song.  Pressing forward (right) does nothing.  I literally have to return to the main menu and select another unit manually.  Oddly enough, the only way I can get round this is by going into settings on the ipod and turning shuffle OFF.  Then it allows me to skip to the next unit!  Problem being that then none of my music will shuffle.
    3.  Once I select a new unit (either my returning to the main menu or skipping forward by turning shuffle OFF) it remembers my last position.  I'm sure this is great for books, but not these small 3-minute units.  I've gone into 'get data' and the tick-box which says 'Remember playback position' is greyed out and can't be unchecked.
These are my problems.  I just want them to be like songs, but in a different file (i.e. not music) where I can skip forwards and backwards.  I've tried adding them to their own playlist but the problems remain the same.
Any suggestions as to why this is or how I can resolve it would be greatly appreciated.  It shouldn't be this hard.

    Update to this -
I just tried changing it all back to Music, checking ''Skip when shuffling' and adding them to their own Playlist.
This works in so far as they won't now play when my music is playing, but I still have to turn Shuffle OFF in order to be able to skip units!
I want these shuffled, but of course I can't uncheck skip when shuffling, otherwise they'll play as part of my music.  Catch 22.

  • How to create playlist of party shuffle from CD?

I had moved all my gigabytes of songs into a DVD to free up some space. How do i create playlist of party shuffle from the DVD?
I guess the answer is NO. Any workaround?

You can't create a playlist within the shuffle itself. It has to be created in iTunes first, then synced across.

  • Some playlist show but there is no music

I recently had my computer repaired and all of the music was saved on a jump drive and reinstalled after the repairs. It now has some playlists that contain no songs. Other playlists are fine. It also does not recognize my ipod when I plug it in.

Not all content types are available in all countries, and unfortunately the UAE is one of those countries where music and films are not currently available to buy from Apple (which may be to licensing issues and/or a country's laws) - the full list of what you can buy where is shown on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3599 . Also as the terms of use of the stores state that you cannot use another country's store, you won't be able to use another country to buy content from either.
Are there other music and/or film download purchase sites that you can use ? For music you can also copy own CDs and sync them to your device via your computer's iTunes
