Something's gone horribly wrong between 4 apple devices in my house and I am desperate for some help! I have a MacBook Air, my iPhone and my mums iPhone. And I'm having massive syncing issues! PLEASE HELP!
Ok so long story short I have a mac, a MacBook Pro and two iPhones in the house, one is mine one is my mums.
I only recently bought the MacBook Pro, I turned iCloud on on it and used my iCloud account to sync with my phone and now it has:
A) deleted all my contacts from my phone and MacBook
B) replaced them with the contacts from my mums phone
C) deleted iCal from the main Mac
The problem is none of these are supposed to be linked, mum and I don't share the same apple id or log in details, so I don't know why/how this is happening.
Also I went I onto the main mac to try and see if it was an iCloud issue and there doesn't seem to be iCloud installed on the system at all, it just gives and option for "mobile me" and then asks me to install it/activate it.
Can anyone give me any clues as to why this night be happening? And how I can get my contacts back and keep the two phones and computers completely separate?

Need to Resume download to complete the ongoing Process.
Last Resort, put the iPhone in DFU mode (Google How to do that). Connect in iTunes. Follow on-screen prompts to Restore. All Data would be lost, if not backed up earlier.
To save the photographs you may have to use third party software. Google is your friend.

Removing imlib2-cvs: "something has gone horribly wrong
Hi there,
I did a pacman -Syu today, and pacman wanted to replace imlib2-cvs with imlib2. So far, so good. I said "yes" to the removal, but pacman complained that ffmpeg and adesklets require imlib2-cvs.
So I deinstalled those two packages.
Now, if I try to upgrade, I get the following error message:
error: something has gone horribly wrong
If I pacman -R imlib2-cvs, it claims that imlib2-cvs is required by adesklets and ffmpeg--even though those two packages have been removed.
So obviously, something has gone wrong with the pacman "database." Question is: how can I fix it? Delete the entries for adesklets and ffmpeg in /var/lib/pacman? Delete the entry for imlib2-cvs? Do something completely different?
Some feedback would be much welcome. I hope my system is not broken for good ...

Hi all,
So I started The Big Xorg Upgrade on my laptop. First I removed xorg (to get around the bitstream fonts conflict) and started pacman -Syu. During the package downloads I noticed that I still use some old configuration where the downloads come from ftp.nethat.com , which is very far from me, whereas now I have a much closer mirror ftp.estpak.ee . So I killed pacman and wget, corrected pacman.conf, and rerun pacman -Syu. The downloads were finished nicely, but then I got the following message:
checking package integrity...done
error: something has gone horribly wrong
I have never seen such an error before, and probably I should not have seen it at all. But still I did:) So can anyone tell me what it is about and under which conditions is it shown? Should I file a bug report?

Edit: I cleared the package cache, downloaded all the packages from the same source and I still get the same message. So it was not a problem caused by the interrupted upgrade (and in fact I have done interrupted upgrades in the past with no problems). Any ideas and/or explanations are greatly welcome.

Something has gone horribly wrong...
After a days long battle to get my cd's and audiobooks loaded on to my iPod video, all seemed well. On the four hour drive to my girlfriend's parents' house we listened to most of "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe." When we got to her parents' house I plugged the iPod into their Mac (my computer is a PC) to recharge it and to use iTunes to try and get all our audiobooks to be in listed under "audiobooks" instead of "songs."
But then something went horribly wrong. When I looked at the contents of my iPod, almost all the tracks had little exclamation points next to them indicating that the file's location was unknown. In fact, some of the tracks that we'd just been listening to moments before were now missing!
This is very bad because we're in the process of leaving the country for several years, my computer is now in storage and the reason we bought the iPod was so that we could have stories for our long drive and music once we got there.
Can I fix this problem without reloading everything?

BenSorry for your loss. This is generally how the iPod works. It is part of the way that Apple is trying to make the recording history by not (easily) allowing people to copy their playlists from machine to machine.
If you have iTunes set to automatically manage your playlists for that iPod it will replace the contents of the iPod when you hook it up to another computer. It should have given you a message that says something like "This iPod is managed by another computer. If you proceed you will loose all songs on this iPod."
At least I think that is probably what happened. You aren't completely clear, but is seems that a few songs were left? If that is the case I don't know how it happened. Perhaps you are using different versions of iTunes and that had something to do with it.
It may be possible to get the music back, but I don't know how to do it. Reloading everything is probably your best bet. Depending upon how much stuff you have and the capacity of your iPod you might want to carry a "backup" of all the files as data. Then if you lost them in the playlists part, you could hook to a friends computer, copy all the data off that partition and reload it. Good luck with that.
If you get the music restored you might want to look into getting a charger of some sort. You won't always be able to count on hooking up to somebody else's computer. -

I picked up my E71 yesterday and am really worried, as I have been using the device for 24 hours and there are a number of features that I am unable to yet use, which is obviously causing me some real concern since I bought the device for a number of reasons, and want to be able to use the features I paid for.
I'm going to list them just for ease of explanation - if anyone has any answers to the below then I'd really appreciate it - I am close to giving up.
Email
I have 2 hotmaila accounts that I wish to sync with my E71. I have set one up as a hotmail account, and one using the 'Live' application. However, neither give me alerts when a new email comes into my account and without synching ALL emails to the phone (I have 3000 in one of the accounts) this doesnt seem to be possible
I am unable to pick up my work email as the Exchange Application does not work. I have tried using the email set up wizard as per the Nokia site ( http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/product-support/nokia-e71/email/mail-for-exchange) but my E71 does not give me the 'Mail for Exhange' option as per step 12 of the guide. I have the incoming/outgoing server addresses of my company exchange server but these do not seem to work either.
2. Web
Despite my E71 recognising my wireless internet at home and me putting in the access key, the device will not allow me to connect to the internet using my home internet. I get the 'Unable to perform operation' error message.
3. Contacts
I have one contact which my E71 does not connect to the numbers that are tagged to it - i.e when i receive a text from the contact, the number is displayed in the 'sender' field, and does not recognise that the number is already entered against that contact. Re-entering the contact, calling and replying to their messages does not make a difference to this.
There are other issues but these are the most pressing.
PLEASE can anyone help me?

I am afraid I cannot help but I do have one of the problems too and I cant see if anyone has answered.
I have had my E71 for about 2 months, at first all was well. The 2 of my contacts stopped being recognised, showing only their number rather than name when they txt or rang. I noticed they were coming thorugh with their numbers prefixed +44 rather than 0, so changed the conact info to match and reset the default; I have even compeltley deleted the contacts and re-enterd them but still my phone doesnt recognise them, but all other contacts are ok
Is it me - I dont think I have different settings for these 2 contacts, or am I missing something?

Desperate for some Help 3 Digit Number Problem!!

I have just been given a Curve Blackberry - not new - and have put in my sim card and own contacts. The first time I rang a Orange network 3 digit number from the contacts list the phone came up with a message along the line of
"Input a 3 digit number to make the conntection " and there was a cursor at end of message. I entered the 3 digit number I wanted to call 123 and made call. NOW IS THE PROBLEM ---------- every 3 digit contact I have stored now calls 123 instead of its own number. That is in the contact list it shows the correct number but dials 123 and when going into the edit option on these contacts when I scroll down to the number it shows 123 at the top right of the screen where it says Edit Contact on the left. WORST STILL every new contact I try to add to the contacts list now will only dial 123. PLEASE HELP

Update and correction : When entering new contacts it does still show 123 in top right corner but it WILL ring out on the correct full telephone number entered on all new contacts. However it still will only ring 123 for any 3 digit number BUT I have just found a work around by entering the full numbers rather than the short version. These are all Orange help numbers e,g Top Up etc. so rather than add 453 I have set it up for 07973100453. Hope this might help anyone else who finds this problem in the future.Hey Is99,

The reason you are seeing 123 in the upper right corner is this is the symbol for NUM lock. When you are editing a contact and in the phone number field of the contact, by default it has NUM lock on so you do not need to hold the ALT key down when typing the phone number.

I cannot open iCal because of a problem. Can anybody help me? The computer will not allow it to open and sends a message to apple each time. The icon has gone from the dock, but ical works on my iPad and I am afraid to sync it with my computer in case it wipes everything .
I have the exact same problem. I have not changed anything. This is probably a bug or something that has gone bad with Mac OS X (10.7.2). I have not found any solution for this on the web.

Since up grading to the new OS Lion basicly problem free except my iPhone iPod and iPad all give me sync issues they load apps , music , books , movies , but refuse photos and the sync ends with an error 50 message most times , yes I have re booted reinstalled new i Tunes and all my others help ! I have update every thing I can re installed , no other issues apart from Parallels and windows which I have deleted and will reisnstall and up date when I get my discs back moving house so in storage boxes somewhere ? , but who needs Windows ? is any one else suffering , or have any solutions

Currently my desktop is not connecting at all, Everytime I connect, it's states "We have now logged you out" and requests I login again.
I have of course rebooted,
Gone into taskmanager, killed all the relevant threads, tried again to login through the desktop, no luck, I'll have to uninstall it, make sure the threads are killed, then reboot it and then reinstall it, but I've not had the time to do that.
On another note, and just as a point of reference, myself, personally, I hate these "cloud" file repositories (not to be confused with adobe cloud services which I love) but the file repositories themselves imho, are a blackhole of resource usage when one doesn't/isn't using them,
Is there a way we can use it more of a "ftp" sort of thing, when I want to I can put files there? There is no way to "Download" the repository, no way to download the folders.. only individual files and then it takes I think three different steps before the download starts.. I find this very inhibiting. Just an fyi. for what it's worth.

I am running on OSX 10.10.1 and have a 2009 imac intel and I am having severe latency issues. I am not familiar with macs as this is my home computer used by other family members. Any help on how to troubleshoot why such latency issues?
When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is especially bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.
Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Anyone having Bluetooth syncing issues w VW Tiquan11... and iPhone4? Essentially the pairing craps out every other time when you connect to the cars bluetooth. Requires rebooting iPhone, power off/on and then connects..
Many people are finding their Iphone 4S drops connection with their VW (Passat etc) integrated bluetooth hands free system after working fine for 5, 10, 20 minutes. The only way to reconnect is to switch the car off or turn the Iphone bluetooth off & back on.
This is a dangerous fault and it appears that both Apple & VW have no solution (or are ignoring as they have already sold you a phone & a car).

I have been syncing calendar and contacts on my iPhone 5 and Outlook 2007 using iCloud 2.1.3 (my PC is running Vista). All was well until the events I entered on the phone were showing up in Outlook, but not the other way around. I’ve tried the usual recommended steps: deselecting calendar and contacts in the iCloud control panel and then re-selecting, signing out of the panel and back in, and repairing the Outlook installation in control panel. I even uninstalled iCloud on the PC and downloaded it again (same version).
The furthest I’ve gotten is step 2 (and once, step 3) of 7 while performing “Outlook Setup For iCloud.” At that point I get, “Your setup couldn’t be started because of an unexpected error.” After the first attempt at all this, all my calendar events disappeared from Outlook, although they are still in iCloud calendar and on my phone.

When my husband set up his new iPhone I read a message wrong when it popped up on my phone and now our messaging is synced. Is it because we have the same apple ID? Do we need to change that?
Yes, its best to have each individual apple ids. You can also go to settings, messages, send and recieve, start new conversation from, make sure there is a check mark beside each of your own individual email, not the same one on each phone.
