Sometimes I am told there is still a scteen running, and I am given the choice of closing the computer down or shutting the window. Does anyone know how to shut the window please?
I am a little tired of having to shut down my computer every time I am asked to shut down a screen in Firefox which is still running.

If restoring using your backup didn't work, you'll have to save as much of your data as you can (import your photos to your computer, sync your contacts and other data with iCloud, email things like Notes and Voice Memos to yourself, sync with iTunes to transfer all your purchases, etc.) and then restore it as new without using your backup.

If your optical drive is broken, you will either need to replace it or get an external. There is no other way.
Why do wish to upgrade? As you can see it is going to be expensive, probably more the Mac is worth.

Does anyone know how to enable the "Delete" key for logging on the Windows 7 partition on the latest iMac, via the latest Apple wireless keyboard - the standard wired apple keyboard works fine via this key but not the new wireless keyboard?
Many ThanksHoly crap, this fixes the issue. At least temporarily it has. I should add that my issue was single finger forward/back swipe stopped working on the magic mouse in Firefox since Mavericks came along. I have been fighting this since I upgraded to Mavericks a few months ago. Thank you, tbirdvet. You have no idea how much easier you just made using my iMac again.

Many thanks.Update it from iTunes on a computer as described at the bottom of this article; devices running an iOS version prior to 5.0 can't be updated straight from the device. It will be updated to the newest iOS version supported by the device’s hardware.

I have yahoo email and it downloads, but there is nothing there when I open the message. Does anyone have any suggestions?
First of all, thank you for your patience, this is driving me nuts, can't imagine what you must think right now....
I made a screenshot that hopefully clears this up:
On the left is what I see when I open up Finder preferences, and then the Sidebar tab. As you can see all boxes are checked. The Middle folder that is open is what I see when I open Finder from the taskbar. which is fine by me. On the right however I have opened Macintosh HD. And as you can see, there is no sidebar, it just opens up with 4 folders.
Weirdly enough, when I tried to add a photo to my apple ID just now, the sidebar came up just fine. And I have found that it does that with more programs. So it is literally only when I open up Macintosh HD that it wont do it. I hope this clarifies it a bit more.
and to answer this question:
I'm not quite sure I understand. Is the sidebar layout you showed me not the one you want? Because if it is the one you want then you should just close the preferences window behind it.
this sidebar only pops up when I open the preferences - general - show in new finder part and then choose 'other'. I cant close the preference window behind it, because then it will close that pop-out folder as well.. -
WWith the new ios7, I became frustrated in using my iPad3..I'm using Skype as my main communications with my love ones back home,now it seems that ios7 doesn't help me a lot for I'm having trouble with my audio communication coz my family can't hear anything from me.. My skype doesn't have any options or settings that I can check with to see if I can fix it...I need help...please if any of u knows how to fix it..I would greatly appreciate it...
You can try removing app then reinstalling. If that doesn't work
Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.

Does anyone know how to make a Windows 7 PC into a Wifi Hotspot?
I have a Windows 7 PC at work and have tried using the Ad-Hoc option to turn my wifi card in my laptop with Internet Connection Sharing to get my iPad, iPhone and MacBook Air online but I have had no sucess. Googled everything I could and still can't get it to surf the internet. It will connect but I don't have any internet. Suggestions?
If it is a work computer, at work it may be restricted so that you can not turn the lap top into a hot spot for security reaasons. If your company dosn't let guest use their wi fi, it is most likely that they know that their system can be hacked into through unprotected wi fi. You could check with your IT department to determin if this is the case.

I'm afraid this is not that unusual a number for kernel_task.
Still, if I were experimenting to see if I could figure out what keeps it at that level, I would try at least two things
(1) Start up in Safe Mode and run there awhile. Does kernel_task still use 1 GB?
Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode
(2) Restart and login to a different user for a while. Does kernel_task still use 1 GB?
And of course, there are the suggestions in that article I posted above.
