Sometimes sounds will go quieter on Creative ZxR - RCA ports

I have noticed an odd problem where sometimes, completely randomly sounds will get much quieter played through the RCA ports to my Audioengine A5+ speakers on my Creative ZxR. Now initially I thought perhaps there was a hardware issue either with the speaker amp or ZxR amp BUT and here is the big BUT, when I notice the decrease in volume, if I load another program (i.e. itunes, another game etc), THOSE sounds ARE played at the correct louder volume. Its as though randomly a certain set of sounds (might be game sounds, windows desktop sounds), just go quieter than everything else. I have noticed that if I select Stereo Direct rather than Stereo, sounds are much quieter in general and I believe this is because the sound source bypasses the DSP chip onboard the ZxR. So is it possible this is a driver issue, that randomly the sounds are not going via the DSP? Its definitely not the amps, as the sound would be quiet right across the board. Any thoughts or other people having this issue. I am running the latest drivers on Windows 8.1. When the sound does go quieter its always at the start of a game load and dont cut out during the game or anything like that.

My company will no longer purchase Creative produ

I am a purchasing manager for a mid-sized technology company. My duties include, among other things, authorizing the procurement of computers for new-hires, replacements, lending to sub-contractors in a variety of countries, et cetera. All in all, we buy at least 20-30 computers a week (laptops included). Not a huge purchaser by any means, but not small either.
We will no longer include creative soundcards (or any other creative products) in our purchasing decisions. Previously I recommended Creative products as a good alternati've to iPODs, but I will discontinue that as well.
I have owned Creative products for many years, and I have seen their drivers become increasingly worse. I know the reason for this as well.
Sound Cards are becoming a commodity market. A modern soundcard produces negligibly better sound than cards 4 or 5 years ago. In fact, I still regularly install SoundBlaster 6s and Montego Turtle Beach IIs in warehouse computers. They produce adequate sound and are rock solid. The only way to keep it a premium market is by creating a premium market. Even audiophiles will tell you that anything beyond 7. surround is not only absurd, it may actually hurt the sound quality if not configured precisely. So where does a premium manufacturer go after producing a quality 7. surround card--into the world of IP law apparently. I digress.
I understand that Vista introduced some significant hurdles to soundcard driver development by bringing many things inside kernel-space. Life is tough. A quality manufacturer, with a quality product could easily negotiate those hurdles.
I will not name my company here because this is not a company policy or battle. I am, however, in a position to enforce it. I will reconsider my decision only once I see an adequate response from Creative.

*edit* - The prompt for this decision is not Creative's announced policy towards 3rd-party development, it is their policy towards 3rd-parties and intentional omission of a legal substitute. I do not license sound cards, I buy sound card hardware and I have every reasonable expectation that it will do what it is supposed to do on any platform I am able to get a driver for.
I do not intend to fuel knee-jerk outbursts here. This is a personal and professional decision. I am required increasingly to support Windows Vista (alongside XP, 2000, Mac OS(s), Linux, Solaris), and this creates difficulties for me. I have been burned personally by Creative support in the past and can no longer recommend them.

I only posted here to let people know that these types of actions, while perfectly reasonable from a legal standpoint, affect the decisions of companies as well. Being a corporate environment, we do not buy a significant number of high end sound cards.
But we do buy a few. We buy Creative keyboards and microphones and cameras. We recommend what products the CEOs and VPs and dock workers buy for their daughters and wi'ves and nephews. Anyone who has worked in IT knows exactly who employees turn to when making a purchasing decision regarding technology.
I personally own a Soundblaster X-Fi. I also own a Soundblaster platinum Extigy. The Extigy was a sore disappointment from an ease-of-use perspecti've (this coming from a person with Linux on his laptop for the last few years). I had heard the X-Fi was a solid product, but it has again failed to impress me.
Being vocal about things like this is important but, equally important, is dialogue. My hope in posting this is not to dri've Creative out of business, but rather to impress upon them the signal they are sending to their customers. I hope they respond positi'vely, not negati'vely, but we should encourage them to do so.

I can't answer your Thunderbird "configuration" questions, because I'm in the living room, using the crap Vista laptop, on which I plan to install Thunderbird, and then take Windoze Mail out in the street and drive over it a few times.. I'll get back to you one way or the other, and let you know if your instructions solved the problem, or not..
I don't understand why Thunderbird "out of the box", so to speak, simply doesn't forward HTML emails with embedded graphics, (like Outlook Excess, and Winblows Mail do).. without having to go through those steps. I personally HATE HTML email, but over the years, it's become more and more prevelant.. so it's a problem I must fix..

Sound will stop working out of no where?

So my phone will be fine all day, and then all of a sudden the sound will stop working? i cant hear the little clicking when i type, text tones wont come in, the lock button doesnt make that shutting noise. Sometimes it happens after i plug it into my computer. I have tried blowing into the headphone jack, but that didnt work? I updated it, i restared it... i dont get it?? please help me!!!

Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device. If you've been through ALL of these steps and the problem persists, then you'll need to bring your phone to Apple for evaluation.

Sometimes Sound does not play when playing multiple Sounds simultaneously

This is also a best practices question, too.
I built a game that uses a lot of different sounds (about 48 I think). Many are short, less than a second, and a few are longer, music cues, etc.
Example problem: Sometimes when there are a lot of sounds playing and a music cue is suppose to fire, the music sound doesn't play. I made a trace on the function that plays the music sound, and that function does execute. Are there limits on how many sounds can be playing simultaneously? (This doesn't only happen to a particular sound , could be any sound)
Also, as far as best practices, If there is a sound that could be played multiple times simultaneously, should a new instance of that sound be created each time its played? If there is only one instance of that sound, will the previous playing of that sound be cancelled when called to play again?

I guess I could add channels to an array as they start and remove them from the array when they are done playing to keep track. That way when an important sound, like a music cue, is suppossed to play I can check the array stop enough sounds to allow the music cue to play. Hopefully it wont be too much overhead with all those listeners.

Why I will never buy another Creative product ever again....

I just replaced my creative sound card with a brand new Asus. So far the Asus works perfectly, sounds great and was super easy to install. The first creative card I bought was deader than roadkill in 3 months. The second Creative card I bought(The one I just replaced) would intermittently stop working either in the middle of doing something like playing a game for no apparent reason or simply not work at all when you boot up the computer. No error messages, no indications of any kind. It would just go silent. I have a feeling that part of the reason this may have been happening is because the shape of the card was very weird and never fit in my case quite right so I had to almost force it to line up with the screw hole so that it wouldn't fall out of the PCI slot. Not the case with my new Asus card. I put it in the slot, everything lined up perfectly and took about 0 seconds to install.
<span style="white-space: pre;">Also, the Creative card was a 5. surround sound card and I bought Creative 5. surround sound speakers to go with it. The logical leap is that the two would work in conjunction with each other. However this was far from the case. I never got all the speakers working at the same time. Ever. Not once. This made 3 creative products in a row that sucked.
<span style="white-space: pre;">One bad product, well maybe somebody had a bad day at the factory. 2 bad products is pushing it. 3 bad products means there is a serious quality control and cheap parts problem in the company. Perhaps this is because I am buying their low end products. Maybe their 200? - 300$ range products are better. But after all this hassle and waste of money I sure as hell am not wanting to find out.
<span style="white-space: pre;">Next on the agenda: replace the crappy Creative speakers with something nicer. Sad really, the Sound Blaster used to be the Industry Standard. Now your cards are junk. After 6 months the metal on the card is literally rusting and corroding away. I have NEVER seen that happen on a computer peripheral before and I have bought a lot video cards, sound cards, etc... Goodbye Creative. That is the last dollar I spend on you.

Which component is broken? If it is only the hard drive it can be replaced, and someone here will be happy to help with that.

It doesn't have to be that complicated, Verizon iPhones come unlocked, just tell VZ you're going on Holiday/Traveling and suspend the service, no need to pay for service if you're not going to be using it. Pick up local SIM cards in the countries of your choosing, pop them in, re-activate iMessage and you're set!
I recommend getting a SIM card from the Three network in England, they have great EU roaming rates and free like-home roaming in Italy.
Set your phone's region to match the country you're in, it'll save from some headaches when calling local/international numbers.
To answer your questions,
1. If you choose not to have a local SIM card, it is good to keep your phone in Airplane mode to save battery.
2. Make sure the two iPhones have different names to reduce sync/restore issues.
3. If husband has an iPhone also, you can chat with iMessage/Facetime, just give him heads up about the new number you'll have. Otherwise, use Whatsapp if he's got an Android. You can activate Whatsapp with your American number or the international number if you choose to get a SIM in Europe.
Also, Get the MagicJack app and/or Google Hangouts, both of those apps provide you with free calling to the USA and Canada using any internet connection. Google Voice is another good way to SMS across the seas.

I will attach a recent screen shot of a print window I opened and the extra code is above and below the window. There are matrix type blocks of code and then lines under the window. I get this all the time and it is getting worse.
Any help to get rid of it would be appreciated.

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iPad. Nothing will be lost

- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
