Songs gone from Library

Hi,
My songs are still in the Itunes music folder on the HD but only some are in the various library folders. I've tried making an 'old' folder, but no use. Any suggestions as to how to get this music back into the itunes interface? Thanks!!!

I am a novice at iTunes, so, maybe this is not correct, but.... I think all you need to do is open your iTunes Library, go to iTunes Music and highlight a folder(or certain songs) and drag them to the Library window. This is what I did when copying my library from my old computer, and this worked for me. Try it on one song, and see what happens. Hope this does it for you.

  • Songs gone from library, how do i get back?

ok i wanted to add 22 new songs to the library so i could then add them to my ipod. i wanted to copy my current library and then delete it and add the 22 songs to it so i could easy add them to my ipod without searchin for them song by song, and then i wanted to paste my library back in again so i would have all my previous songs along with the new 22. so first off i hit edit>select all to select my library songs, then i rite cliked on them and hit copy. then i hit delete and when i did i got the option of 'cancel' -'save to itunes folder'-'send to recycle bin'. so i chose save to itunes foldre just incase anything happened. then i went in and added the new songs, but when i went to paste my library back in it wudnt let me. so now im looking everywher eto try and find the itunes folder which contain all my songs that were in the library so i can put them back in. i did find an itunes folder in my documents which contained a music file labeled 'date' where usually 'mpeg4' is labeled but it wudnt let me open it in itunes, and another word document file that when i opened, showed hundreds of lines of code and stuff like that. does anyone kno how i can get my library back?

Another way to do this is to choose the option to only update checked songs. Then, you go through your library and uncheck (on the left side of the iTunes window) the little boxes next to the songs you don't want. Now iTunes will only update the songs that have their boxes checked.
I do this and also create a Smart Playlist that shows only the checked songs in my library and is live updating. This way I can see how many songs are going to be transferred when I next sync. This can be very helpful if you have more songs in your library than can fit on your iPod. It works pretty well and should solve your problem, I think.

  • Where has my song gone from iTunes library

My purchased song has a ! symbol next to it and won't play - says The song “Bayini (Live)” could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?  It works on my phone and iPad but not my Mac and how do I find it - doesn't seem to exist on my Mac.

    Hello Snefne,
Deleting the entry from iTunes on your Mac and redownloading it from the iTunes Store should allow the song to play.

  • Songs deleted from Library but not deleted from Hard Disk

HELP: I had multiple songs repeated in my Library, deleted the songs and cleaned up the Library data base. Some songs were NOT deleted from the hard drive. Copied all my music to my laptop computer and asked Itunes to rebuild database. There are about 1100 more songs in the new data base than in my home computer. how can i erase all the songs that are on my laptop hard drive that are not in my itunes Library?

You may have to rebuild your iTunes Match library by turning it off on both your computer (iTunes>Store>Turn Off iTunes Match) and you phone (Settings>Music>iTunes Match>Off), then turn it back on on your computer, and when complete, turn it back on on your phone.

  • Restoring songs deleted from library

is there a way to restore songs that have been deleted from your library?

Your info says, you're using Windows. You will probably get a more accurate answer in the iTunes for Windows forum.
Do you mean by deleting, deleted from the library, but not trashed?
    If so:
if you want to add all files that are in your 'iTunes Music' folder, but not listed in the iTunes library, drop the entire 'iTunes Music' folder on the library window of iTunes.
All files that are missing in the library will be added to it.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPod Classic 120GB - Can No Longer Sync & Songs Gone From IPOD

This morning I go sync my iPod and it start giving me some error messages then completely stops. I tried unplugging and plugging the iPod back in. The iPod connects to the computer but will not show up on iTunes. I tried resetting to no prevail. I can't restore the iPod since it will not come up on iTunes. I had just recently downloaded the most recent version of iTunes.
A few things I have found.
    - When tried accessing the music folder (IPod_Control>Music) it gives me the following error message: *"E:\iPod_Control\Music is not accessible, The parameter is incorrect"*
    - When iTunes starts up and tries to sync with the iPod, the Autplay box comes up but can never find the files its looking for
    - The music on my iPod looks as if it is gone (the music section says there is no music, same for pictures/video), but checking the properties of the iPod, it shows 10MB taken up which is how much music I had on there before this started happening.
It sounds like I have double the problems here but wanted to see if anyone might know what's going on. I have tried reading some other posts to figure this out but my mind can only work so far wih this kind of stuff.

I have the same problem with my ipod nano. I downloaded tunes from my old pc. ITunes does not recognise it from my new pc and I cannot sync.

  • Songs gone from iPod, freezes computer when plugged in

Yesterday, I plugged my 5th gen 30 gig iPod into my computer to charge. The battery had drained completely, so it came up with that "Very Low Battery" warning and didn't connect to the computer right away. This has happened before, and I was running late for work, so I just left it plugged into my computer to charge.
When I got home, the iPod was charged and connected, allowing me to access my full library. I transferred 2 albums to the ipod and ejected like you're supposed to. When I tried to pick music to listen to, the iPod was empty. I've heard of this happening before, and after a few minutes of frustration and hoping that the music would just magically reappear, I plugged the iPod back into the computer and prepared to do a full restore.
When I plugged it in, the iPod went into its "Do Not Disconnect" mode and charged as usual. HOWEVER, both iTunes and Firefox froze. The computer itself did not lock up, and when I did ctrl-alt-del hoping it was just an iTunes issue, neither iTunes nor Firefox were coming up as Not Responding. Tried closing anyway using Task Manager, and they wouldn't close. Tried 'X'ing out, and it wouldn't close. Everything was unclickable and unresponsive, but Windows was working fine. I unplugged the ipod, and everything went back to normal.
I restarted my computer, and restored the settings on the iPod (although I think these are just volume, click wheel, etc. settings that have nothing to do with the hard drive), and plugged the iPod back in. Same thing. I can't even access the iPod to do a full system restore. When I plugged it in this second time, Vista came up with a message saying the drive that I have plugged in is corrupt, and do you want to format it now? I clicked yes, and it said it was unable to format a drive that was in use.
    Summary:
    iPod is showing zero songs.
Causes both iTunes and Firefox to become unresponsive upon connection to computer.
Cannot be reformatted by Windows because drive is in use.
Can't use the drive while it's connected because everything is frozen.
So I'm sitting here with an iPod that has no music and cannot be connected to my computer. Has it reached its end?

Did you get any resolve on this because my ipod seems to be suffering the same fate?

  • My songs are all gone from my library.... but still scattered files on my computer... how can this be fixed?

I have 12000 songs and I can see some of them still scattered on some old files I have (transfered from old computers in files like "New Music" and such). Just about 4 days ago, all the songs are gone from ONLY my library when I restarted my computer. So it sounds like a corrupted file linking the songs but I dont know which one it would be.

I pressed "enable" and now the 1800 songs in my library are gone and all I've got is the music my daughter bought from iTunes. What have I done wrong and how can I get my songs back. When I bought iTunes Match I got 1 e-mail confirming subscription and another providing receipt but nothing else no links etc. any assistance would be appreciated.

You can only upload music from your computer's iTunes, you can't do it from an iOS device - when you subscribe to iTunes Match on your computer it should have scanned your music library on it and matched or uploaded any non-iTunes purchased music to it.
Do you have copies of those tracks anywhere e.g. on an iOS device or on your backup of your downloads/library ? If they are iTunes purchases then they should be in the cloud. If they were copied from CDs or bought from other sources then if they are only on an iOS device (i.e. you don't have them on a backup) then there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy them back : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • I have paid for itunes match and have now lost all my music of my iphone except what I paid for from itunes, 964 songs gone not at all happy.  Can anyone help

I have paid for itunes match and have now lost all my music off my iphone except what I paid for from itunes, 964 songs gone into the cloud. Can anyone help please?

Enabling iTunes Match does not delete music from your computer. Why do you think it is now not in the iTunes library if it was before? If all of your music was in the iTunes library then it is also now in the cloud if iTunes has completed it's scan and all the music meets the match requirements. Enable the iCloud Status column in the iTunes browser by switching to Song view and pulling down View > View Options. Select iCloud Status then close the small window. Sort on the new column. Your music should be listed as "purchased," "matched" and "uploaded." Some tracks may be "ineligible." Post back and let us know.

  • Problem with Shuffle erased songs from library!!

The Shuffle would not eject from within iTunes. I tried dragging it off the desktop to eject it that way and it would not budge. iTunes would not respond and when I tired to force-quit the program, it would not respond. The entire computer froze - very unusual under OSX...
So I had to unplug the shuffle manually and then restart the computer. When I reattached the shuffle, it was blank - a known risk of unplugging a disc without properly ejecting it. I was not too upset cuz it was only 30 songs on one playlist (the shuffle's own play list). I figured I could rebuild it.
No prob, right? Well that is what I though. When I got home later that night, I went into iTunes to reload songs onto the shuffe. There had be 30 songs, but I could remember only about 10, so I went into iTunes library to find the songs in order to put back onto the shuffe, but they were GONE from the library. Even the iTunes songs I had bought were gone, no longer listed even in the Purchased Music playlist. And the songs were not in the iTunes Musc folder... they are gone completely. Apparently, the manual unplugging of the shuffle and the restart of the computer erased the songs NOT ONLY from the shuffle, but the entire library too. Isn't that strange?!?
I have Apple's Backup program, and I back up my library every 4 weeks, but I was just about to do another backup this week, so if I choose to restore, I would lose everying I have gotten since the last back up, so that is not really an option.
Once a month or so, I copy the entire iTunes library over to my external hard disk, so I have been able to get some of the purchaced iTunes songs from there (better than a condensed backup because you can pick individual songs without having to do a restore on the entire file - which would erase anything added since the last backup).
I just wish I could remember what songs I had on the shuffle...
Has anyone ever heard of this? I know that manually unplugging any hard disk or USB drive without first ejecting it, has risks, included the loss of the data on the disk/drive, but have you hever heard of not only the shuffle, but ALSO the library being erased?!?

    Hi Patrick,
You don't need to know the name of the songs that you have lost because all music purchased from iTunes has the same file extension. So if you search for the file extension, all the purchased music on your HD will show up like this:
So just do a search for ".m4p" (Not including the quotation marks) and your purcased music should show up.
