Sorting based on string datatype

hi
In one of the BIP sample rtf i found "<?sort:END_T;'ascending';data-type='number'?>" which sorts END_T which is of number data type in ascending order
i have set of values like
<BALANCES>
                    <CONSUMPTION>50</CONSUMPTION>
                    <NAME>Free SMS</NAME>
</BALANCES>
<BALANCES>
                    <CONSUMPTION>10</CONSUMPTION>
                    <NAME>Data Usage</NAME>
</BALANCES>
<BALANCES>
                    <CONSUMPTION>80</CONSUMPTION>
                    <NAME>Free MMS</NAME>
</BALANCES>
the BALANCES array should be sorted by content in the field NAME
ex : CONSUPTION detail of SMS should appear first, then MMS,then Data
how this can be achieved.
thanks in advance

It is not possible to sort it in the order you want unless you provide an index or have it presorted.
Each of them requires that you do that task at yourd db level.
Otherwise, as alternative (not the best) if you are 100% sure the order your rows come always in
this way:
Free SMS
Data Usage
Free MMS
Then a simple for-each would do the work as your data comes in the way you want to print it.

  • Sorting based on a specific value in Columns

    Hi All,
    Crystal 2008 version I have. And we are connecting to BW queries as source.
    In a crosstab, I want to sort my row values based on a column value.
    For example, in rows I have an element with three values . In column I have only one element(month), with couple of month values. My requirement is to sort rows based on a specific month (Mar'09 for example).
    .....................Jan'09......Feb'09.....Mar'09
    ABC...............10.............323...........33....
    XYZ...............32..............33............11....
    FGH...............5................34.............55...
    But when I try to sort based on the Month, I can not select a specific value(mar'09). And it sorts based on the total value (sum of all months).
    How can I achieve this problem?
    Thanks
    Ozan

    For {Sort Value}, if you wanted to sort on the Jan column, then substitute the field name that your example shows as 10 in row ABC.  For {row value}, substitute the field name that is used in the first column (ABC in the example).
    In other words, take the value that you want to sort on, and put it in front of the value currently displaying as the row header.  Then, sort on the results.
    The purpose of the "000000000.00" is to make the length of the number, when converted to string, a consistent size.  This is needed (a) so you know how many characters to strip off when displaying the row value, and (b) so the records don't sort as 1, 12, 2, 234, 235423, 25, 3, ...

  • F110- Check Sort Based on document number

    Hi All,
    We are using the program RFFOUS_C to print check when we are doing the payment run F110.
    Presently, checks are sorted as per vendor name (Name 1) while printing. We need to print check sorted based on document (Invoice) number, field BELNR. SO, that checks are printed in the same order as we have entered invoices.
    But the field BELNR field for sorting is not available in the application REGUH (Correspondence), which is a natural way to check print sorting. (In customizing FBZP, "Payment method in Company Code" form data, Sorting of corrpondence)
    Is there a way, we can sort check based on the invoice number (BELNR). .
    Thanks
    Ron
    Edited by: Ron on Jan 7, 2010 1:34 PM

    Hey Ron,
    In Free Selection tab on F110 tcode, Pick Field name as BKPF-BELNR (Document number). Now create the proposal and do the payment run.
    Thanks

    HI Subu ,
    there is some information gap , what is your source ? are there any transformation in between ?
    If its SQL server source and destination and the datatype is as you have mentioned I dont think you should be getting such errors ... to be sure check advance properties of your source and check metada of your source columns
    just check simple oledb source as
    SELECT TOP 1 ItemCode = cast('111' as nvarchar(50)),DivisionCode = cast('222' AS nvarchar(50)), Salesplan = cast(3.3 As float) FROM sys.sysobjects
    and destination as you mentioned ... it should work ...
    somewher in your package the source columns metadata is not right .. and you need to convert it or fix the source.
    Hope that helps

  • Sorting based on two columns in report

    Hi,
    we have one issue on sorting based on two columns in report.
    In the report we are doing sorting on two columns(week_id and stage_name). I have attached the screen shot for the same. The sorting is first done on the week_id and then on the stage_name. The issue comes when we have no data for the stage 1 - Prospect in W1. The stage goes to the second position.
    Please suggest if there is any work around to show the 1 - Prospect stage in W1.
    Regards,

    what is w1? where is screenshot? and is stage seoncd sort? if so what is the issue?

    Hard to understand your problems, because you're too vague. At one point you mention you don't know where to put your method, at another you say you don't know how to call your method. If that is the case (which seems unlikely but oh well) here's an example.
    public class Testing9 {
         public Testing9() { // constructor
              String basicString = "BasicExample";
              String sortedString = mySortMethod(basicString); // call mySortMethod passing the string
              System.out.println("sortedString = " + sortedString);
         public static void main(String[] args) { // main method starts app
              Testing9 app = new Testing9(); // calls constructor
         public String mySortMethod(String s) { // put the method here cause I feel like it
              String sortedString = "";
              // do your own work here to sort, etc....
              return sortedString;
    }

  • How to do a TopN Sort based on a formula

    Hi all,
    My report has two groups, Store and Department.  In the details section are multiple jobs per store with costs. These are subtotalled by Store and Department.  I want to compare total spend for each store with the store budget and produce a list of the Top 10 stores based on the percentage actual spend/budget.
    My problem is I can only do a Top 10 sort on a summary field and I cannot summarise the percentage field as this is a formula which doesn't seem to allow summaries.
    Any help much appreciated.

    Jan,
    Here are a couple of options.
    1) Do the calcuations on the database (thru either a stored proc or command object).
    2) Insert a crosstab where the rows are based on the Store and the summarized field is based on the formula that outputs the percentage of the actual vs budget as a Maximum. You can then do a TopN sort on the crosstab

    Hi Monica, Thanks for you patience with me.
    I have tried writing a selection sort method but am having some errors. Could you kindly have a lookand correct me please.
    This is the code i wrote
    public static void selectionSort(Comparable [] data)
              String strFirstName;
              String strLastName;
              Comparable temp;
              for(int i = 0; i < lastName.length; i++)
                   lastName = index;
                   for (int j = i; j < lastName.length; j++)
                        if (lastName[j].compareTo(lastName) < 0)
                             lastName[j] = lastName[i];
                   //Swap the string values
                   temp = lastName[j];
                   lastName[j] = lastName[i];
                   lastName[i] = temp;
    As you requested, below are 4 error messages I had
    E:\coursework2.java:101: cannot find symbol
    symbol : variable index

  • Content Items Sorting based on picklist property fails

    Content Server 6.0
    We have developed a custom presentation template to display a list of all the work items. While displaying the work items, I would like to sort them based on a property and then filter them based on another property. I have a template code similar to below:
    <pcs:foreach var="item" expr="filter(sort(sort(index.folder, 'item.pcs_id', true), 'item.application', true), '(filtered.workflow_status != "Completed")')">
    The content item has two properties: application - a picklist, and workflow_status - a picklist.
    The above code template does not return any results. However if I change the expression so that I am sorting by a text property, then it displays the results correctly.
    For e.g,
    <pcs:foreach var="item" expr="filter(sort(sort(index.folder, 'item.pcs_id', true), 'item.name', true), '(filtered.workflow_status != "Completed")')">
    (name is a text property of the content item).
    Is there another way of accesing a picklist property in sort function to retrieve the desired results? Can somebody point out what am I doing wrong?
    Thanks for your help in advance.
    Thanks
    Jignesh.

    Not currently. We're considering this for a future release.

  • Sorting based on non-base table columns

    I have a form block based on X table. There are also some columns from Y table in the same block and the tables X and Y are joined through the appropriate columns. I want to sort the queried record in the block ( based on table X ) based on two columns that are present in the Y table. How do I do this? Any help would be highly appreciated. Ofcourse! we can create a view and achieve that. But I don't want to create a view. Also I can use select statement in the order by column. But it works if I select one column. But when I select two columns it says too many value. Any solutions

    why dont u create a function
    and sort by the returning values ?

  • CSS Troubleshooting "advanced-balance url" based on string-range

    Hi together,
    a questions for troubleshooting "string range stickyness".
    I configured a content rule:
    content L5_HTTP_81
    vip address 192.168.1.1
    balance aca
    no persistent
    protocol tcp
    port 81
    url "/*"
    advanced-balance url
    add service service1 weight 1
    add service service2 weight 1
    string range 30 to 255
    string eos-char "_"
    string prefix "shopId="
    active
    service service1
    ip address 10.1.128.23
    keepalive maxfailure 2
    protocol tcp
    redundant-index 2102
    keepalive frequency 15
    keepalive retryperiod 10
    keepalive type http
    keepalive port 80
    keepalive method get
    keepalive uri "/admin/Ping.simple"
    string 148.49
    port 80
    active
    service service2
    ip address 10.1.128.22
    keepalive maxfailure 2
    protocol tcp
    redundant-index 2101
    keepalive type http
    keepalive method get
    keepalive frequency 15
    keepalive retryperiod 10
    keepalive port 80
    keepalive uri "/admin/Ping.simple"
    string 148.48
    port 80
    active
    1. I take a string from the 30rd to 255 character out of the URL starting at "/".
    2. Now I search for a string between "shop_Id=" and "_", on which the stickyness is based.
    3. string "148.49" is allocated to service1, string "148.48" is allocated to service2.
    Is there any possibillity to view or debug the handling, how the string is matched in the http request and on which service the request is forwarded ?
    thanks in advance
