Sorting by date in table?

I am new to using Spry Data Tables and I am having some problems. I need to sort a table by a few different feilds. All of them are working except for the date column. It will sort if I change the type to "script" but it does not sort in the right order. I can not get it to sort by the type "date". Any ideas?
Also, I am having problems with the original table and the spry table. The original table is in the same html document as my spry table. i followed a tutorial to try to set up my own document and everything looks just like the tutorial but only with my information. It says that once you view the page in the browser the origianl table will not be displayed but I am still getting two tables showing in my browser, the spry sortable table and the original table (non sortable) underneath. How do I get it to only display the sortable table but still pull information from the original?
Thanks.

To sort selected rows make the selection then open the "Sort & Filter" tool (top-right corner):
Then add a column using the "Add a Column..." button.  Now select the column and the sort direction

  • Adding a 'sort by' option to table data in webhelp output

    RH8 HTML
    Hi all,
Just wondering (again) if its possible to add a sort feature to a table?
currently, I've got multiple topics that look like the following. They are a breakdown of all fields/buttons and their functions
    field name
    description
    example
    customer id
    description of field
    example data to be entered
    name
    description of field
    example data to be entered
    customer order no
    description of field
    example data to be entered
    job title
    description of field
    example data to be entered
this is the order that the fields appear on the user form, I'm wondering if I could add a 'Sort By A-Z' and 'Sort by Appearance' options so the user can view the fields, descriptions, and examples either by the order it appears, or in alphabetical order - all the while the description and example fields moving with the sort.
Just gives a bit more functionality for users so they can find a field quickly if the list is a bit bigger by using an alpha sort
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi,
Normally, the browser shows a pointer over a hyperlink. You might have the script set up slightly different than Peter.
A quick fix is as following:
Identify the element you want to see a pointer, probably something like TableHeading. In your css, add:
    P.TableHeading
Be carefull with this, it may confuse people if they see a mouse cursor they don't expect. Your best bet is still to figure out if you have set the script up exactly as described on Peter's page.

  • Sorting Data in Tables

Hi anyone help with trying to resolve an issue with sorting data in a table I have created in Pages 08 v 3.0.2.
I have a table six columns across with rows down of data. I have so far entered 10 rows of data and wanted to sort the data based on column 1 then column 2 with the associated data in the other columns staying connected to column 2. Fairly straightforward stuff I thought so clicked the table header for column 1 then the ascending sort button in Inspector the results I got were not quite what I expected.
Here are three lines of data taken from columns 1 & 2. The sequence below is how I entered it. The data as you will see relates to classical music. In column 1 is the single word 'Mozart' all the other data is in column 2 on one line:
Mozart Symphony No 29 in A Major KV201
Mozart Symphony No 4 in D Major KV19
Mozart Symphony No 36 in C Major KV425 'Linz'
When I clicked the header for column 1 then the button in Inspector to sort the data ascending this is the result I got:
Mozart Symphony No 29 in A Major KV201
Mozart Symphony No 36 in C Major KV425 'Linz'
Mozart Symphony No 4 in D Major KV19
The first two entries are in the right order but the third one should obviously be first. Anyone know how I could resolve the issue I have with sorting data in the table I have created?
    Thanks ....

Just to expand on Beatrice's answer, Pages (as most other word processors) sorts alphabetically. 4 comes after 39 alphabetically because the 4 comes after the 3. It doesn't think, "oh, that's the number 4 which is smaller than the number 39." By placing the leading 0 we wind up comparing 04 to 39 and yes, the zero is in front of the 3 so it gets placed ahead of it.

  • How to sort index_by pl/sql tables data in Oracle 9i Release 9.2.0.1.0 ?

    Hi all,
    I have populated an index_by binary_integer pl/sql table :
    declare
    type rec_ty is record(ligne number,code_enreg number(2),code_enreg_ordered number(2));
         type tab_ty is table of rec_ty index by binary_integer;
         vtab tab_ty;
         i pls_integer := 1;
    begin
for venreg in(select * from fichier_tempo where num > 0 order by num) loop
              vtab(i).ligne := venreg.num;
              vtab(i).code_enreg := to_number(substr(venreg.texte,7,2));
              i := i + 1;
         end loop;
    end;
Now I want to sort the code_enreg data of vtab into its code_enreg_ordered field. I must do that because I must verify that each code_enreg data entered are ordered. So if code_enreg is not equal to code_enreg_ordered at a specified index of vtab then I must take a decision in my program code ; I must code something when this disorder happens.
    How to do that ?
    Thank you very much indeed.

Thank you Jeneesh , it works with a few modifications about the assignement of the pl/sql tables.
Fantasy > Your blog talks about sorting the pl/sql table through the key. But I want to sort it through the field data. And my field data contains duplicated data. So you did not really reply to my need. Thank you anymore.

  • How to delete data in table control

    Hi,
I am doing module pool programming. After the user enters the data in table control after saving the data. if the user wants to  remove the line item the line item shd be removed from the screen and data base.
    Please Give me vaulable Suggestions
    Regards

    Hi,
Screen 8002 (with table control) --> select records --> press delete button --> delete selected records
Now you wan to delete those records selected by the user at runtime when DELETE button is clicked.
Take another internal table and work area same as the initial internal table and work area used in screen 8002 which is to be used to delete the selected data.
Take the names of the input/output fields as work_area-field_name and select column in table control as work_area-flag.
Also take a flag field of size 1 datatype character as the last field in the internal table and work area while declaration.
You must have passed a code in PBO of the screen for reading internal table into the table control.
So it reads the internal table into the table control whenever you perform any action on use command.
All you need to do is to write a code to modify the internal table form the table control while performing any user action.
Remember to change the LINE SEL option in attributes of table control as MULTIPLE.
    At screen logic,
    PROCESS BEFORE OUTPUT.
      MODULE status_8002. "for pf-status
LOOP WITH CONTROL po_tab. "po_tab is table control
MODULE pass_data. "to pass data into table control from internal table
      ENDLOOP.
    PROCESS AFTER INPUT.
MODULE user_command_8002. "for user command(back and exit)
      LOOP WITH CONTROL po_tab.
MODULE modify_data. "to modify data from table control into table control
      ENDLOOP.
MODULE delete. "to delete the selected records
    In PBO,
    *&      Module  STATUS_8002 OUTPUT
    MODULE status_8002 OUTPUT.
      SET pf-status 'ZAB_PFSTA'. " pf-status
      DATA : line_count TYPE i.
      DESCIRBE TABLE it_ekpo
      LINES line_count.
      po_tab-lines = line_count + 10.
" to make table control scrollable
    ENDMODULE.                 " STATUS_8002  OUTPUT
    *&      Module  PASS_DATA  OUTPUT
    MODULE pass_data OUTPUT.
      READ TABLE it_ekpo into wa_ekpo INDEX po_tab-current_line.
    ENDMODULE.                 " PASS_DATA  OUTPUT
"it_ekpo is internal table and wa_ekpo is the work area
    In PAI,
    *&      Module  MODIFY_DATA  INPUT
    MODULE MODIFY_DATA INPUT.
      MODIFY IT_EKPO INDEX PO_TAB-CURRENT_LINE FROM WA_EKPO.
"modify records from table control into the internal table
    ENDMODULE.                 " MODIFY_DATA  INPUT
    *&      Module  DELETE  INPUT
    MODULE DELETE INPUT.
      OK_CODE = SY-UCOMM.
      CASE OK_CODE.
WHEN 'DELETE'. "when delete button is clicked
SORT IT_EKPO BY FLAG DESCENDING. "sort by flag(selection column value)
          CLEAR WA_EKPO1.
          CLEAR WA_EKPO.
          REFRESH IT_EKPO1.
          LOOP AT IT_EKPO INTO WA_EKPO WHERE FLAG = 'X'.
            DATA : J TYPE I.
            CLEAR J.
J = SY-TABIX. "assign index value if a record is selected
MOVE-CORRESPONDING WA_EKPO TO WA_EKPO1. "append selected records to another
"work area and append to another internal table to delete
            APPEND WA_EKPO1 TO IT_EKPO1.
DELETE IT_EKPO. "delete the selected records from initial internal table
" to reflect the changes on the table control
          ENDLOOP.
          IF J = 0.
MESSAGE I006. "if no record selected
ELSE. "if some records are selected
DELETE ZEKPO FROM TABLE IT_EKPO1. "delete from database table
            COMMIT WORK.
            IF SY-SUBRC = 0.
MESSAGE S007. "success message (records deleted)
            ENDIF.
          ENDIF.
      ENDCASE.
    ENDMODULE.                 " DELETE  INPUT
Now at PAI, you have delete records and these changes are reflected back to the internal table.
Now when PBO is executed it will again read the initial internal table and will not show the deleted records.
    Hope this solves your problem.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • How to Sort Dimension in Pivot Table via Order Column which is changing like Factual values

    Hi,
Recently in of our product offerings we got stuck on this following question:
How to Sort Dimension based on the Order Value which Keeps Changing with Factual Values??
We have a data source laid out as (example)
In the above the “Order” columns are changing per
    Company/(DimensionA) for DimesnsionB.
Instead what we want is: (But only if we can get the following result without putting the “Order” Column in the “Values” Section.
If there are any configurations that we can make to our power pivot model for the similar data set so that the
DimesnionB in this case can be sorted by the Order column, would be greatly helpful to us.
    Sample File:
    http://tms.managility.com.au/query_example.xlsx
    Thanks
    Amol

    Hi Amol,
According to your description, you need to sort dimension members in Pivot Table via order column, and you don't want the order column show on the Pivot table, right?
Based on my research, we can sort the data on the Pivot table based on one of the columns in that table, and we cannot sort the data based on the columns that not existed on the Pivot table. So in your scenario, to achieve your requirement, you can
add the column to pivot table and hide it.

  • Sorting Order for SAP Tables in DB2 database

    Dear Experts -
ISSUE: When an ABAP program selects data from the DB into an internal
table, it is changing the way the data is sorted. In other words, the
internal table data is in a different sort order than what is in the
DB. It is not working this way in all other non-production systems
    (DEV, QAS, SAX, etc).
Temporary solution for the programs that have been identified as
impacted: Use the ABAP Command 'sort' on the internal table.
Permanent solution needed : Since it is impossible to identify all
of the programs that will be impacted, we need PRD to work like DEV,
QAS, SAX, etc. when selecting data into internal tables. The data
should be in the same order as it is in the DB (sorted by the key).
ADDITIONAL INFO: DB2 storage disks crashed a day before. H/W team recovered everything. We are facing this only after the recovery.
    Thanks,
    Dinesh

can you please check in your code if the sql that is being sent has an order by clause .
Please let us know the SQL statements that is basically used to fill up the internal table.
When data is fetched from the database, it is not sorted always. Probably you had a clustered index on the tables and the clustering is not there now.

  • How to Insert data from Table A to Table B

    Hi,
I have to insert data from Table A into Table B.
Table A is having 100 records and table B is having 10000 records.
Condition is if data in Table A is not in table B then I have to insert into Table B or else I have to skip that.
Can anyone help me with sample code.
Thanks in advance and points are awarded for usefull answers.
    Thanks,
    Kumar.

    Hello Kumar
Assuming that tables A and B have the same structure you can use the same logic as change documents are prepared. Assuming both of your itabs are of structure struc_a. Then define the following type:
    TYPES: BEGIN OF ty_s_itab_di.
    INCLUDE TYPE struc_a.
    TYPES: CHIND  TYPE bu_chind.
    TYPES: END OF ty_s_itab_di.
TYPES: ty_t_itab_di  TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF ty_s_itab_di
    WITH DEFAULT KEY.
    DATA:    gt_itab_old  TYPE ty_t_itab_di,
    gt_itab_new TYPE ty_t_itab_di.
Fill itabs gt_Itab_old with the corresponding data of itab1 and gt_itab_new with the corresponding data of itab2.
Very important: sort you itabs either by all key fields or by all fields.
Call function <b>CHANGEDOCUMENT_PREPARE_TABLES</b> with the following parameters:
    - CHECK_INDICATOR = ' '
    - TABLE_NEW = gt_Itab_new
    - TABLE_OLD = gt_itab_old
The function module will remove identical lines from both itabs. New entries in gt_itab_New will have CHIND = 'I' and deleted entries in gt_itab_old will have CHIND = 'D'. Modified entries are indicated by CHIND = 'U'.
Read the documentation of the function module and play around with it. You will see that this a quite easy yet powerful approach for comparing itabs.

  • How do I sort the data in the spreadsheet?

This is a fairly basic question and something I do all the time.  I need to sort the data on a particular column or set of columns and am frustrated that it is this difficult to find.  In trying to figure this out I know also have a chart on my spreadsheet that I can't seem to delete.

If you don't see a gray bar above the table, then tap a cell to show the gray bar.
Select a column by tapping the gray bar directly above the column. After the column is selected, tap the exact same spot again to show a menu.
In the menu, tap on Sort... etc...
Sort will sort the selected column, but will also update the entire table accordingly. If you don't want the rest of the table to update, then you have to copy that column (with the columns that you do want to update) and paste them onto the canvas so they appear in their own table. Sort the column then and paste it back into the original table.
Delete the chart from a menu that appears similarly as Sort. Tap on the chart one time to select it. Tap it again to show the menu with Delete. If you are doing this and choosing Delete, but the chart is not disappearing, then there might be a problem with the file.

Hi Try minimising the conditions in where clause
         SELECT fields..... FROM CKIS
         WHERE KALNR = KEKO-KALNR AND

                      TVERS = KEKO-TVERS AND

after this, deleting unwanted records from internal table as per pending conditions...

  • Sorting of dynamical  created table

    Hi,
i created a context node for a table uielement and added in wddoinit method some attributes.
The celleditor vor according columns is a DropDownByKey .
How can i sort my table by one of this dynamical attributes/columns ?

    Hi ,
I would like to explain the code in more detail
DATA: lv_slno type string value 'SLNO',  " SLNO is your column name by which you want to sort
               lo_node type ref to if_wd_context_node.
      FIELD-SYMBOLS :
        <lv_table>  TYPE STANDARD TABLE.
Get the reference of your table node into lo_node
    lo_node = wd_context->get_child_node(  'ABC' ).  " Assuming ABC is the node name
Get the data of the node
    lo_node->GET_STATIC_ATTRIBUTES_TABLE(
                                                        IMPORTING TABLE = <lv_table> ).
Sort the data in the table
    SORT <lv_table> BY (lv_slno) DESCENDING.
    Bind the sorted data again
    lo_node->bind_table( <lv_table> ).
I hope it is clear now . Let me know in case of any confusion .
    Regards
    Vivek

  • Usage of Sorted Keys in standard tables

    Hi,
If I have a sorted secondary key (unique or non-unique) in my internal table, and use the secondary key with my DELETE statement (DELETE ... WITH TABLE KEY <secondary_key_name> COMPONENTS ... = ...), I still get a prio 2 checkman error saying possible sequential read. My question:
    1. What's the difference between usages of sorted key and a sorted table with regards to a READ statement?
    2. Would I still have to do a SORT on the standard table by the secondary key components and then do a BINARY search to avoid the possible sequential read? (in that case why should i mention the key to be "sorted"?
    Thanks in advance,
    Best Regards
    Anantharaman L

    Hi Anantharaman ,
When we define sorted secondary keys, we do not have to sort it explicitly and use a binary search. we just have to define the sorted secondary keys and read based on that keys. The read statement should be as follows:
    read TABLE <internal table>INTO <work area/field symbol>WITH KEY <secondary key name> COMPONENTS <comp1 = value>.
    eg : read TABLE lt_tab INTO lw_tab WITH KEY key_1 COMPONENTS carrid1 = 'CC'
    Complete Code :
    REPORT  YTEST.
    DATA: lt_tab TYPE YSTRU1_TT,
          lw_tab LIKE LINE OF lt_tab.
    lw_tab-carrid1 = 'BB'.
    lw_tab-connid =  '50'.
    APPEND lw_tab to lt_tab.
    lw_tab-carrid1 = 'ZZ'.
    lw_tab-connid =  '50'.
    APPEND lw_tab to lt_tab.
    lw_tab-carrid1 = 'WW'.
    lw_tab-connid =  '50'.
    APPEND lw_tab to lt_tab.
    lw_tab-carrid1 = 'AA'.
    lw_tab-connid =  '50'.
    APPEND lw_tab to lt_tab.
    lw_tab-carrid1 = 'XX'.
    lw_tab-connid =  '50'.
    APPEND lw_tab to lt_tab.
    lw_tab-carrid1 = 'CC'.
    lw_tab-connid =  '50'.
    APPEND lw_tab to lt_tab.
    CLEAR lw_tab.
    read TABLE lt_tab INTO lw_tab WITH KEY key_1 COMPONENTS carrid1 = 'CC'.
Note : Table type ystru1_tt is defined with a unique-sorted secondary key carrid1.
    Hope this will be helpful.
    Warm Regards,
    Jenny

  • Sorting by date in columns cross tab report.

    Hi all,
I am working on a cross tab report in BI Publisher in which columns are generated dynamically in a pivot table depicting months as Jan 09 , Feb 09.... but data type is char. When displayed in pdf, columns are generated sorted alphabetically.
How can I have them sorted by date in final pdf?
    or
How can I stop the columns being sorted in pivot table at template level?
    Thanks.
    Edited by: user9061488 on Jul 21, 2010 1:13 AM

You need to get a extra column in the query just for sorting purpose, which will have month number in it or YYYYMMDD. format, so that , it can be used in only for sorting.
with JAN 09, FEB 09 , we can do it, but it will be little complex
