Sorting data by clicking on pivot table header in excel

Hi,
Do you have an elegant idea how to sort pivot table data, based on power pivot model,
by clicking on header (not by using the arrow on the first one).
I'm Using Excel 2013
Thank you in advance!
Dina

You could implement a solution using slicers:

  • Some of the pivot table header column not center-aligned

I've dragged a pivot table model from Data Controls. The generated pivot table on page does not display some of the header columns center-aligned. I tried to set a css style in HeaderFormat listener for the columns, but it did not work. I checked the html source code and found the problem was caused by "colspan" not created properly. I'd like to know how pivot table header columns are created, anyone who knows please kindly give some tips, thanks!

Try setting the Header Row to allow to repeat. I've had to set that Repeat option to get things to break over pages correctly.

  • Using external parameters within MS Query returning that data right into a pivot table Excel 2010

In Excel 2010 i was able to use the external parameters within MS Query returning that data right into a pivot table.  But the parameter on the worksheet will not save in the paremeter setting of the data connection.  And if you save it and open
it and try to refresh the pivot table Excel stops responding and you have to force the file closed.  I found out the reason to crash is that it did not keep the parameter saved.
    Can this be fixed?

  • How to create a pivot table similar to excel

I would like to learn how to create a pivot table, similar to excel, thanks.

Numbers does not have  pivot table function but can sort data, and summarize data.  If you can provide an example of the data you want to analyze I am certain we can help you in building summary tables.

  • Sorting Column's Label in Pivot Table

    Hi Fellows !!
This is my problem: I have two tables, dates and rates, providing me data for a report. Dates has a DateId (number), Year(number) and Month(varchar2(12)), and Rates has DateId(number) and RateAmount(number). I wrote a quite simple query to obtain report's data:
    SELECT DATES.YEAR, DATES.MONTH, RATES.RATEAMOUNT
    FROM DATES, RATES
    WHERE DATES.DATEID = RATES.DATEID.
I must to show as a pivot each rate by month for each year. Years must be showed as row heading and sorted descending (this already works) and Months must be showed as column's labels. Something like this:
    ----------|January|February|......|December|
    2008 | 737.3 | 372.3 |......| 342.56 |
    2007 | 346.2 | 456.6 |......| 678.78 |
The problem is Months always appear in Lexicographical order: April, August, December, ..., September. How can I to define the correct sort for Month ? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Vetsrini, thank you for your answer.
I've included an additional DATES table's field in query, and it contains the number of month, according to your suggestion. Results for query show month's names in proper form, but when I set up the pivot table from template builder and get preview for results (pdf, html, etc), I still get month's names in Lexicographical order. All the examples and documentation tips (sorting tags and others) I've found seems to apply to normal tables, because none of that works in my pivot table. Any other ideas are welcome.

  • Sorting on Totals in a Pivot Table

I am using 10g and I am trying to do a secondary sort on a total column. The columns in my pivot table are region, country, employee headcount by business unit and total headcount. I have the region sorted to get Americas, Asia/Pacific, and EMEA, but i can not get the countries under each region to be sorted by the total headcount.
thanks in advance for any hints.

thanks in advance for any hints.Try this:
    1) Grab another instance of your headcount column in your Criteria.
    2) Click on the fx and enter SUM(table.headcount by table.Region, table.country)
    3) Put this column after the Region column (if you have a duplicate layer in your Rows Section. If Region is in the Sections area of the pivot table, then this column should be farthest left).
    4) Sort this column and hide it.

  • Data Source path in Pivot Table changes to absolute on its own

    Hello.
I have a .XLSX file, that was created long time ago (I don't even know in which Office version, but definitely not 2013), and maybe even was a .XLS file at first.
So it's a 4 MB file with 16 Sheets and 8 Pivot Tables.
All of the Pivot Tables use other sheets from the same file as Data Source.
Data Source for some of them look like this: 'Sheet3'!$A:$E
Everything is fine when I save the file, and open it from saved file.
But as soon as I try to move the file elsewhere, or rename it, or email it - all Data Source paths change to something like this: '\Users\Sergii_Litnevskyi\Desktop\New folder\[FileName.xlsx]Sheet3'!$A:$E
And it happens with all Pivot Tables. The problem is that it links to an old file path, where the file does not exist anymore. And it links to an external file, which is not what I want.
If I Save As and select different path and filename - then it works fine. So it's a workaround for renaming and moving files, but not for sending them to other persons.
I've read some threads, and people recommend disabling "Save external link values", but it does not help. It is already turned off in my office, but it keeps acting weird.
So what I need is: Save the file, close it, rename it, move it to other place, send it over email as attachment. And then I want to have the same Data Source path in my PivotTables as I had before I saved the file. How can I do it?
My Office version: Microsoft Excel 2013 (15.0.4454.1503) MSO (15.0.4517.1005) 32-bit

    Hi,
According to your description, I suppose the issue may be caused by some reason.
Do you link the outside data source?
I think if the file moves the file elsewhere, or renames, or email,
data source paths can’t be change.
But, your data source paths add the absolute path.
Do you link the outside data source?
I recommend you zip the file and send it as Email attachment.
If the issue exists, you may save as it in a new name and test it in another computer.

I am pretty sure that I don't have any external links in the document.
However, even if I did - why would it change Data Source path for all of the Pivot Tables, when I did not request it?
I tried zipping it and sending to other person over email, but he got the file with changed data source paths.
I can even record a short video to show what happens.
Actually, I just did it. You can see the video here: http://screencast.com/t/qMBild3ck9b
It is rather big - 23.8 MB.
Let me explain what I showed there:
I opened my original file. I showed that there are Pivot Tables, whose Data Sources are in the same file, on various other sheets.
I showed this for all of the Pivot Tables in the document.
I saved the file using Save As in a different folder and under a different name (TEST.xlsx).
I then opened that saved file to show you that it is fine, and the Data Source path for one of the Pivot Tables is the same as it was in original file. It is the same for all of the other Pivot Tables.
Then I closed, and simply renamed the file to TEST123.xlsx.
Opened it, and first thing wrong - Security warning.
Then I got ‘Cannot open PivotTable source file ….’ messages. And, as I showed, now all Data Source paths have been changed to full paths of the file, that was created by Save As (TEST.xlsx) from original file.

  • ADF pivot table header cell iteration

    Hi All,
I am working on a program where I want to pass the header cells separated by "|" to the analysis server.
    for example:
    ||Fiscal|FPB|Projected Sales||KAV|Projected Sales||KCT|Projected Sales||KSA|Projected Sales||All Products|Projected Sales|
This should be result of a pivot table where Fiscal is on column layout and crossjoin of Product(FPB, KAV,KCT, ALL) and Measure(Projected Sales) on row layout.
    Is it possible?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
according to the documentation, this should not be the case. As you can see, the documentation explicitly calls toString() for the string representation: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28389_01/web.1111/b31973/dv_crosstab.htm#CHDGCBIG . You can narrow down the problem by using the default cell format and see what this returns

  • Table-Header to Excel-Header (Kopfzeile)

    Hi,
I defined a Header-Text using cl_salv_wd_header. I expecetd to see it in corresponding Excel-Header (Kopfzeile) after export, but i can't see this text anywhere. How can I export it to Excel?
    Thanks for tipps. Berti

    Hi ,
When you export to excel you will only get the data in the node which is displayed in your table.
But as you told you have given the table header, it wont be exported to excel because it does not exist
in your node, its only property of ALV.
To transport data along with header then you need to explicitly write your code into some button
         action.
         Hope this helps.

  • I try to find such as pivot table like in excel sheet

How to collect data like pivot table in excel sheet. Please help me

    Hi Chepot,
Welcome to Apple Discussions and the Numbers '09 forum.
Numbers does not support pivot tables, but there may be a way to accomplish what you want.
Here's a link to search results for 'pivot AND table' in the Numbers '09 forum during the past year. Check these prior discussions. If they don't answer your question, post a reply here with further details on the arrangement of data you want to collect.

  • The data that is in the table is from excel, so the data to be read can changed?

for example the data before is EXEC 1,how if i'll changed the value to 1 how can i read those data if he changed the EXEC 1 to 1. that's why i said the data is changeable.
can you give me a simple example about this?
    Thank You

You need to some extend what will the data be. If you know that it is either a string+space+number or just a number, than you can use match pattern function to look for the space character.
If there is a space character, you will read the string after the space, which in your case is a number. If there is no space character, and you are only passing a numeric string, then just read the whole string.
I create an example that does that.

  • Is it possible to change the data of Pivot Table?

    Hello,
I want to develop an excel add-in in .net and want to show the data to user using "Pivot Table".
Is there a way in which I can allow the user to change the cell values of the "Pivot Table" without changing the source data?
    Any guidance is highly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi Vinay,
As far as I know, it's not possible. We can only change those Pivot Table cells that belong to Row Label or Column Label. But we can't change the Value cells. You'll get some errors like "Cannot change this part of a Pivot Table report".
If you just want to display a report with some changes to the original Pivot Table report, I would recommend that you copy the data from the Pivot Table to another worksheet, then modify the values.
