Sound playback in LT?

a way to hear sound playback on an imported fcp movie file in LT? I could only get video playback, but sure would B helpful to have sound instead of just markers- is it a setting?
thx

Nope. Just markers. Bottom line: There's no audio playback support in LiveType.
It's a silent app. That's a feature! No pesky sound annoying your studiomates.
Your best bet is to have LiveType and FCP open at the same time. Save your LT project, and import it into FCP. When you change something in LT and want to preview it with sound, go to FCP (use Expose and you'll look cool), and play. It will automatically recognize the changes you made in LT. If you need to tweak, go back to LT, change things, and come back to FCP to play. it's really not all THAT clunky.

  • Sound playback: no sound, abnormally high bitrate.

    I've been reading up on using JMF for simple sound playback all day, and I've seen countless examples that do the same thing I'm doing, but in every instance, I get absolute silence. Additionally, it seems that the read bitrate is higher than it should be, according to the control panel's properties dialog (e.g., 480Kbps for a 192Kbps mp3).
    The code always goes something simple like this:
        Player player = null;
        try {
          MediaLocator ml = new MediaLocator(new File("BGM.mp3").toURL());
          player = Manager.createPlayer(ml);
        catch (Exception e) { System.err.println("BGM messed up"); }
        if (player != null) {
          player.addControllerListener(p);
          player.start(); //this does realize and prefetch
        }I put some debug output statements in my controllerUpdate function, and it is indeed realizing, prefetching, and starting playback of the file. I have tried this with both wav's and mp3s (I have the mp3 plugin installed in addition to the JMF 2.1.1e itself), and have always gotten the same result - MediaTime progresses too fast, roughly 2.5 times faster than it should (5 seconds for every 2 real seconds), and I get no sound.
    At this point, after having tried at least 2 examples found online in addition to my own code, I'm convinced there's something up with my Java runtime in itself, not just my code... anyone have any experience with this kind of problem?
    System Info:
    OS: Windows XP Pro SP1
    Java Version: 1.5.0_02
    JMF Version: 2.1.1e (zip version [no performance pack], with mp3plugin added)
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Do you use it in an Applet ?
    I'm also unable to play any sound with Java(TM) Plug-in 1.5.xx the
    plugin to all browsers nowadays.
    You mentioned you used it on Windows 98 SE.
    The old IE browser used the build in javaVM. It worked - just look at
    the java consol and you see a lot of warnings and errors -, but in the
    end it played video and sound.
    The only solution I found is to use Java(TM) Plug-in 1.4.xx. The
    'automatic search for update' box must not be checked, otherwise it
    will update to the newest Plugin and you face the same problem. If you
    want to place an applet on your homepage, just use video only - until
    now it works correctly on ALL PLATFORMS.
    There was a Bug Report 6245070 where I was asked as well to give an
    example a year ago, but this was all - no response at all. In this
    applets I used
    Content Type : video.quicktime
    Video Encoding : h263
    Audio Encoding : ULAW
    not even mpg3!!
    I tried to compile the whole JMF Version: 2.1.1e with J2SE 5.0 and
    Standard Edition 6 Beta. At one version I changed all the
    inconviences like the reserved words "enum" ..., and an other version
    with old style, which is possible with Standard Edition 6 Beta.
    It seem's the problem is not in the part you are able to compile. It
    seems to me it is in the sound.jar api, but I really don't know - just
    trail and error.
    Conclusion only JRE lower and until version 1.4.xx will work.
    It would be a pleasure to me if I'm wrong and there is a solution.

  • Lost sound playback for movies, podcasts, etc.  How can I regain playback?

    I have lost audio playback for movies, podcasts, etc on my iPad2.  New user.  How can I get my sound playback back?  It worked initially!

    discovered the solution from another discussion group.
    Double clicking on the "home" button of the iPad opens a list of apps across the bottom of the screen.  Moving to the left end of this display there is an audio slide bar which was set to the lowest part on my iPad.  Moving this setting to a mid level restored sound to the video feeds I was having trouble with.

  • Pavucontrol/Pulseaudio hangs sound playback

    Hello everyone
    I've posted on this before, and the bug went away, but now it's back and I just wish it'd go away permanently. For reasons I can't explain, trying to control the volume with pavucontrol (or, it seems, any volume control that interacts with pulseaudio) suspends sound playback. And then pavucontrol crashes with a callback timeout failure error.
    I've followed all the various guides on setting up Pulseaudio. I've experimented with setting sinks, with setting sound outputs, everything. But time and again the pavucontrol applet brings the sound to a halt. As far as I know I've installed everything that might be needed. I used to like Pulseaudio, the whole control-volume-of-individual-streams is great. But it just doesn't work. And yet it's one of those features, which once you get used to it, is really hard to live without.
    How can I fix this once and for all?
    EDIT: Reading /var/log/errors.log I've noticed that Pulseaudio is failing to set hardware parameters with a connection timeout.

    Have you tried setting the pulse volume from alsa (amixer)? You should really bring this to the pulse mailing list, since this sort of bug is probably hardware/driver level and not very simple to debug.

  • Sound/Playback Stops Suddenly in Windows Vi

    I have recently encountered a very strange problem with my computer: the sound/playback stops working randomly. For instance, let's say I've just rebooted my computer and have launched WMP to play some mp3s. It will work fine for anywhere from a day or two to, at minimum, a few minutes...and then, once an mp3 file finishes playing, sometimes I will hear a weird sort of "squeak" coming from the speakers--after which playback will not work--but even if I do not hear any sort of strange audio, if I click another file to play...WMP will load the media, but will not play it. The play button will switch to pause as normal, but the file will not play. The exact same thing happens in *other* media players, as well: iTunes, J. Ri'ver Media Center...even WinAMP. I have a SoundBlast X-Fi Platinum audio card, and have been running it under Windows Vista Home Premium since January with no problems. I have all the current Vista drivers installed for it, and *have* had them installed for months. I'm really not sure whether this problem is software- or hardware-related, hence the reason I'm crossposting this to?Microsoft's Vista?forums as well. What should my next step be? I'm not really sure where to go from here. Thank you!?Dere C. F. Pegritz

    I have the same problem here too. Vista Ultimate 64bit4Gb RamX-fi Extreme Gamer Pro?Currently have to re-boot when it happens. I have just installed the new drivers (30 May) - I will see if this has any effect!?RegardsBrian.

  • SB Audigy SE (SB0570) / Win 8.1 64bit completely freezes on sound playback

    hi there,
    I got a problem: my audigy se doesnt work on windows 8.1 64bit.
    I freshened up my pc and installed a clean win 8.1 os on a new harddrive.
    I tried installing the official SB24_PCDRV_LB_1_04_0090a.exe driver.
    I got a audigy se (sb0570), and driver installation works fine. the card got recognized and it can play a sound, but after a few seconds my whole PC freezes without bluescreen. it doesnt matter if it is a flash video, a mp3 or just a windows sound; it always freezes. when the sound device is disabled, the system runs without freezes. I can start a playback, ofc there is no sound, but the system is stable.
    my card works fine on win 7 64bit with older drivers. plus, I am using the support pack 2.6 by daniel_k (I still use my old SDD with win7 on it and everything works fine). I also tried support pack 2.6 on my win 8.1 system but it doesnt even recognize the card. the newer support pack 3.0 does recognize sb0570 and actually the sound works for about 10seconds (my 5.1 system works fine for that 10 sec, all speakers are getting a signal, but then it freezes...).
    so, both the official and the unofficial drivers are not working.
    has any1 a clue?

  • CS5 No sound playback with HD422 clips

    Hi, I installed CS5 Master parallel to my CS4 Master installation on a Windows 7 (64-bit) system. I opened a new HD422 project and imported HD422 1080i50 footage. If I play back the clips on the timeline or through the monitor I can't hear any sound. There is just a faint noise. If I import an EX3 clip the sound works fine. Does anybody has this problem, too?
    I also have the Matrox Axio LE card installed with my CS4. According to reports from users they were able to install CS5 parallel and it didn't break their AXIO funtionality. In my case the importer process is crashing, when I'm opening Premiere CS4. I thought this should work fine. I don't know if this issue has any influence on my HD422 playback.
    Marcus

    Marcus,
    There have been several reports of Audio issues with Matrox cards. Going back to the CS4.2 days, Matrox issued an updated driver that got the Audio issues sorted out for many, if not all. That would be the first place that I would look.
    Good luck,

  • No sound playback in Premier

    I am using Premier CS3 on a Vista x64 machine. Premier was working well, but then I had a nasty crash while capturing video. Now when I play tracks in Premier I cannot hear the sound, but I can see that the sound is there and looks to be playing and when I export the clips the sound is fine.
    I did check my playback settings and they are still set to play audio off the computer, not an attached device (and there is no attached device right now).
    Any suggestions for how to get the audio to play? It's almost like someone hit a mute button or volume control specific to Premier only.
    TIA!
    Julie

    I have tried as many things from the tread you posted as I could, including uninstalling Super, the only other software program on the machine. (I'm using Vista and a lot of things in the thread were written from an XP viewpoint.)
    At this point it looks like the problem relates to Vista Ultimate x64. With some help from a programmer here I've been able to get it working periodically using speakers rather than headphones, but things are fragile and now I'm finding I'm apt to lose sound in other programs as well.
    If anyone has suggestions for how to stabilize sound in Vista I'd appreciate it; I understand that there are similar problems in the 32 and 64 bit versions. I wasn't having these problems until I installed SP1.
    In the meantime, in case it helps, here are the specs for my machine:
    - Premiere Pro CS3 3.2.0 (374) with all updates provided installed
    - Windows Vista Ultimate x64, Service Pack 1
    - Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9300 @ 2.50 Ghz
    - Asus Maximus motherboard with:
    - onboard nVideo GeForce 8800 GT
    - onboard audio, SupremeFX II Audio Card
    - 8 Gb Ram
    - 1 monitor in use
    - 1 140 Gb Raptor drive - 82 Gb remaining
    - 2 500 Gb Western Digital drives (set to raid 0) - 786 Gb remaining
    Codex: not sure ... whatever is used in the avi files captured straight from mini-dv tape
    Hardware capture device - I am capturing from a Panasonic DVX100A and a Panasonic GS 500
    Capture software: adobe premiere cs3
    3rd party plugins: none. This is a new machine and i've only installed the adobe prodution suite with no extra plugins

  • Sound playback problems on 5.1 systems

    Hi all
    Does anyone know why after completing projects using iDVD 5, although the resulting DVD soundtrack plays back fine through the standard stereo outputs of a DVD player, (or Apple DVD player etc) there is always a sample rate problem when playing back through 5.1 sound systems? It's quite infuriating that you can't playback finishd iDVD projects in the same environment set up for commercially available DVD 5.1 viewing without grunging, clicking & pitch change problems.
    Does iDVD resolve its DVDs with a different sample rate to commercially available DVD's?
    Thanks in anticipation Richard

    Thank you so much for opening this can of worms with me Hui !!
    Given that our iDVD software produces soundfiles that the Dolby 5.1 system actually DOES play back at all, I have to confess to being confused as to why these 2 channels simply seem to be coming back at the wrong sample rate??
    I'm actually a musician putting together a showreel of movie clips and so have a pretty good idea of what it sounds like when things go wrong if a piece of audio kit plays something back at the wrong sample rate in the studio. My simplistic view of what's going on is that our stereo sound files are being decoded back to analogue by the Dolby 5.1 system at the wrong sample rate .... it's the same sort of effect that you get if you are playing back a 48khz sound through a poor 44.1khz convertor .... so if we could somehow change the sample rate of the soundfiles that iDVD encodes to whatever the "usual commercial DVD movie sample rate" is ..... our DVDs would playback fine!
    Of course this is probably naive nonsense .... there must be some technical reason why iDVD elected for a different sample rate but I wonder why??
    Best wishes Richard

  • Sound playback bug since 1.0.2

    Thought this was an isolated glitch but now it's affecting other phone functions including voicemail. I noticed it when I was playing an podcast episode then selected another podcast, which began to play except now the sound is sped up to where a normal voice sounds like a chipmunk! Happened again when trying to playback other podcasts and stopped after a while. Today I played back an item from my visual voicemail list and all the messages were sped up also!

    The audiobook playback speed setting does not affect podcasts, nor does it affect Visual Voicemail playback.
    The original poster should try resetting his iPhone by holding down the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons. If this does not fix the issue, he may want to consider doing a restore in iTunes or contacting Apple technical support (either at the Apple store or at 1-800-MY-iPHONE).

  • Quesiton about Sound Playback and Palm OS

    I have read all the posts on how to playback a sound on a mobile phone...which is this code
    InputStream isAudio = getClass().getResourceAsStream ("/wave.wav");
    player = Manager.createPlayer(isAudio, "audio/x-wav");
    player.start();
    i wanted to know if anyone has done it using the Palm OS (a Zire 72 handheld to be specific) i need to know the exact path where the audio files are stored on the CD Card
    I have contacted Palm and they said its in the Audio Folder...but using "/Audio/wav.wav" does not work. (my app is installed on the SD Card as well)
    Has anyone else tried to do this?

    Actually my question has just changed, i found out what the path is for files saved to the SD Card.
    i have the following code, can anyone tell me why im getting an error
    code::
    String url = "file://Audio/test.wav";
    player = Manager.createPlayer(url);
    player.start()

    You need to buy and use a multi channel audio interface.
    You also need a set of matched surround speakers for playback.
    I'm laughing right now, because you are mixing on Stereo speakers, and telling us that the mix is ok.
    Trust me your mix can't be ok, if you are only listening to 20% of it. No way.

  • Waveburner - no sound playback - Redbook DDP / CD Master

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to make a Redbook DDP CD master. I have no sound in Waveburner (1.6.1). It recognizes my audio card (RME Babyface), and I see audio playing in the Monitoring Window, but no sound comes through the speakers. iTunes and Logic (both 9 and X) work and playback normally.
    My schmoogle and Apple Discussions searches have only turned up posts about many many other issues with Waveburner, but nothing specific to my problem.
    I own both Logic Pro 9 and Logic Pro X. It seems I shouldn't have to buy another software for making a Redbook DDP master — since I already did buy WB with Logic Studio Pro — but if Waveburner is broken, please recommend a good alternative!
    Thank you!
    Mac OS 10.8.5

    Well that's one of the WB quirks I mentioned before, I have witnessed this phenomenon myself with a Motu interface. Everything worked through it except WB. And to make matters worse I never could get it to work in this particular combination either. At this moment in time I use WB in combination with a great variety of audio interfaces and I do not witnessed (fingers crossed) this problem anymore. I trust it does work with Core Audio for you? You could try another audio interface, but to be honest I'm out of options in regard to solving this problem.
    Good luck!

  • Hiccup on sound playback

    Hello,
    I'm trying to make a simple sound app that fires off sounds
    on key presses. The problem that I'm running into is that the
    sounds themselves don't always play instantly. There's often a very
    small hiccup which makes something like tapping out a beat
    impossible. I ran into a similar problem while trying to move a
    sprite around the screen but solved that with a different key
    reading routine. I'm using that same routine here but the samples
    don't seem to interrupt properly - unless for some odd reason it's
    started as a looping sample, in which case the playback is
    perfectly responsive.
    In my main loop I've tried updating with frame enters events
    as well as timers which both seem to have more or less the same
    result. I haven't worked much with sound in AS3 so maybe I'm just
    missing something critical here? The samples in question are
    imported wav files which don't have any silent gaps.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks...

    I'm afraid that doesn't seem to be the problem either. I've
    tried it with a number of samples and checked to make sure that
    there is no dead space in any of them. In the code above if I
    quickly tap the button it will play the sample twice, one after
    another. I need it to interrupt immediately. Currently this only
    happens if I press and hold the key down (although there is a
    slight hiccup that still plays for the first half second or so).
    Is it possible that Flash just isn't set up to do this kind
    of thing (i.e. immediate sound interrupts and retriggers)? I've
    written similar apps for PC in DirectX and had no problems like
    this.
