Sound volume is to high in iPods

Hi all,
I am new here and I have come here because I just bought a iPod 4 months ago and I just can't seem to get it to play music with a lower sound volume... As of now I have it on the lowest possible, but it is still to loud! Yes I have very, very sensitive ears, but the fact that I just got tinnitus speaks for itself :'(.
Could someone please tell me of any way that I can lower the sound volume furter. I have already tested lowering it in itunes, but as it turns out, all it does is turning of the sound completely!
So... If anyone know of a way to lower the sound volume please respond!

Tried setting a volume limit?

You can also adjust the songs in iTunes.
Highlight them all, right click and select "get info". This will bring up a multiple song info window. From there use the volume adjustment slider to set the volume as you would like. Click "ok".
After that, re sync your iPod with iTunes to reflect the changes.

The sounds are working on my i phone but the ringer will not work...it will only vibrate.  I have the volume set at high.

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.
Have you tried ALL the troubleshooting steps?  If you have and you're still having problems, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation and possible exchange.

  • IPod/iTunes Sound Volume problems

I listen to my iPod Mini on my car radio, and used to enjoy turning the music up loud sometimes. Now I cannot GET it loud, even though I have the volume on my radio and iPod set to the maximum. For audiobooks, I can no longer hear the words clearly over the sounds of traffic. The volume on the iPod used to match the volume of the radio. Now it doesn't -- if I should flip to the radio without lowering the volume, I get hit with a blast of sound.
I think I might have done something in iTunes that is causing this. I cut off Sound Check and the equalizer. I also raised the volume using the Get Info options. It doesn't seem to have made any difference for the iPod when I updated. I still can't hear it very well through my tape adapter on the car radio.
Have I done anything mentioned above to cause or fix this problem? If so, do I need to delete everything from the iPod and re-load it?

    Gary,
There is a lot I don't know yet, but I definitely managed to raise the volume by cutting off the sound check and the equalizer when importing new stuff. As a test, I can now hear the words in an audiobook, although the volume is still on maximum for my iPod and car tape player. Unfortunately the old stuff still sounds too faint. (Is this iPod actually updating?)
There is a problem with my car tape player. I haven't bought a head cleaning kit yet, but plan to do so. I connected an FM transmitter and tested the sound -- it was a lot louder. (In my area, I cannot use an FM transmitter in the city because of FM interference. No empty stations. So I either need earphones or to make the tape player work. Or a new car
I don't know yet whether it's the Sound Check or Equalizer that makes the difference. I don't think I ever used Sound Enhancer.
You can raise the volume by selecting songs, going to "Get Info" and resetting the volume bar. This seems to make it louder on the Mac speakers. I cannot tell that anything is getting through to the iPod -- I simply don't hear it yet.
I don't know yet if importing when using Sound Check does anything permanent to the volume of the song. I hope not.

my sound won't work on my ipod 5. I plugged the speakers in and it works fine.  When the headphones aren't plugged in and I turn the volume up it says that they are plugged in.  Please help !

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. (this was already sugested) There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R".
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • IPod Mini sound/volume is as soft as a mouse now

    PLEASE HELP!
I have just got a replacement set of earphones sent to me by apple because the original one just stopped working all of the sudden. I noticed that my iPod mini's sound/volume is about 50% softer than when I originaly got it. I've tried using euPOD and goPOD and also the slider trick but it still doesn't take the volume back to the good old days. I know that it is probably because of the stupid new 26-03-2006 update with the volume limit on it, but i've also tried restoring the iPOD but to no avail either. I've tried everything already and nothing has worked. Does anybody know how I can get around this or I'll just have to throw my Mini in the trash and never buy anything from apple again! I also noticed that the volume slider doesn't actualy change the volume loudness until it gets past halfway.....so it doesn't actualy get softer or louder until I'm about halfway thru. I can't see why apple would want to implement such a ridiculous limit on what was essentialy a very good product.

  • IPod Nano losing sound/volume

Has anyone had an issue with their iPod nano losing sound/volume? The device works upon initially booting it up however randomly the sound will instantly and for no reason start to decrease down to where no sound can be heard. This usually occurs when working out so I've wondered if there is a reported issue with the device getting overheated or possibly sweat either getting in the device or shorting out the headphones?

If this is the 7th gen iPod nano, and it is new, make sure the headphones plug is completely inserted into the headphones jack of the iPod.  The fit can be tighter than expected, especially when new.  It should "click" into place, when fully seated.
Your iPod can use headphones with remote control buttons on the cord.  If the plug is partially inserted, you may get audio, but the iPod may get false control signals (such as for volume down) over the connection.
If that's not the problem, try using a different set of headphones to see if this problem still occurs.

Have you went to Bose"s support site?
    Sometimes this works
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
However, sometimes an iOS update breaks compatibility and you will have to wait for an firmware update for the Bose or an iOS update.

  • I have a record player hooked up through the audio port.  The input volume is registering high, but there is no output anywhere.  Help?

I have a record player hooked up to a preamp which is hooked up through the audio port. The sound settings are set to have the audio port be "input".  The input volume is registering high with fluxuations in the sound settings, but there is no output anywhere.  Do I need some sort of third party application or widget to hear the record i'm playing through the speakers that are hooked up to my computer?

    keithstopher,
You may want to check into a USB interface, as I believe you have a Mac with the single audio port, which can be used as input OR output.
You may want to check into something like the following, there are may out there, see what fits your needs best.

  • Why does sound volume turn down to zero automatically

I just upgraded to IOS5.  I set my sound volume to high in settings, but I notice that it does not ring soon after that. When I look at the settings again, the speaker volume setting has moved completely to the left (low). Is anyone else having this problem.

Yes, I have seen this problem.  Sometimes it happens, sometimes it does not.

  • Inadequate sound volume on MacBook

I may be expecting too much from my MacBook, but I'd like to be able to enjoy the music in my iTunes library without having to sit directly in front of it. I go to Apple button>System Preferences>Sound where I set the sound level for maximum, but that doesn't help as much as I would like. Is there another way to increase the sound volume? By the way, I had no such problem with my iMac, which I'm missing more and more.

A similar trick is in iTunes, Show Equalizer, click
pre-amp on and move the slider to max.
Though I would basically agree with JSwerdy's post
above. I do not find it necessary to use the
equalizer setting, and I find it necessary to
sometimes turn down the volume on occasional web
pages that play sound. I don't want high volume, low
quality sound. If I want to listen to music for long
periods, I use headphones or stream wirelessly to my
stereo, and there's no lack of signal quality at all
then. I did have the benefit of hands-on comparison
at an Apple Store before purchasing, and the speaker
sound volume/quality was an obvious difference
between the MacBook and MacBook Pro. Unless there are
    significant differences among individual MacBooks....
This is the first time that I've ever heard that there's a difference in the sound quality of a MacBook and a MacBook Pro. The salesmen said the main difference was the graphic stuff. They didn't even hint at a sound difference.

  • Why is the max volume so low on my ipod 6th gen

why is the max volume so low on my ipod 6th gen

Well, my volume control certainly does influence the start up chime and I cannot see why yours shouldn't.   Use keyboard buttons F11 and F12 to adjust your sound level last thing at night and if your machine auto starts in the morning it will not wake the household.
True, if volume control is turned down to a lower level, you would have to adjust it for other sound output that you do want later, iTunes and videos on browsers etc, but it requires little effort.

  • Output sound volume

The output sound volume on my system (about one month old imac) sounds low. As I remember my old G5 imac playing sounds on a webpage with system volume (the top line on the screen) and browser volume (set within the browser) at a very load volume.
Now, I have set both volume controls to max to hear the sound at all.
Is there some way I can test the sound?

Hi, go to MIDI SetUp (Applications-Utilities) or Spotlight Midi!
Look for the Configure Speakers Box ~ you can check out the sound from each speaker...
(A recent post, suggested keeping the Mac volume @ Low & setting the external speakers to High)
