Source system (0SOURSYSTEM) ID in flat file ODS.

Good morning
Please assist with the following?
I created transfer rules for a flat file load to the ODS and the 0SOURSYSTEM is compounded with another characteristic. I have assigned a  'constant' ie. "PF" to 0SOURSYSTEM. I changed the constant later on to ie. "DT", deleted the data from the ODS and PSA and then reloaded the file. The active data will still show the 0SOURSYSTEM as "PF".
How to I get it to show 0SOURSYSTEM "DT"?
Your assistance is appreciated.
Cornelius Faurie

Hi,
Already the request is loaded and it is activated. So the data is available in the active data table.. U have changed the constant in update rules.... It will change to the newly coming records. If u want to populate this to the historical data also then do a selfload to that DSO. Depending on the Keyfields the data will get overwrited.
Assign points if it helps

  • Problem in data sources for transaction data through flat file

    Hello Friends,
While creating the data sources for transaction data through flat file, I am getting the following error "Error 'The argument '1519,05' cannot be interpreted as anumber' while assigning character to application structure" Message no. RSDS016
If any one come across this issue, please provide me the solution.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hallo,
    just for information.
    I had the same problem.
Have changed the field type from CURR to DEC and have set external instead of internal.
Then, the import with flatfile worked fine.
    Thank you.

  • Create source structure -Need to create flat file or table?

    Hi All,
Can any one let me know what needs to be created?? it should be flat file or a table on the data base?
I am going to reecive flat files from the source system??
If it is a flat file then is there any way to create flat file structure in the DS using SQL query statements?
    Thanks
    Rajeev

you can create table same as file structure and use the table instead, but how are you going to populate the table with the data from flat file ? you will need some application to do that, you can do this is DS by creating a file format and using the source file as input for that file format and create a template table as target for the database datastore to wihch you want to load data from this source file, and use that table as source in other dataflows
you can also create the table with the same structure in the database and import that in Datastore and use that as target for the source file

  • Source System conversion

What is the ideal settings for source system conversion in the following scenario.
    1. Source Systems - CRM, ECC6 (ignore flat file)
    2. Landscape - Dev Qual Prod
    3. System Names
    CRM -- CRD, CRQ, CRP
    ECC -- ECD, ECQ, ECP
    BI -- BID, BIQ, BIP
    4. All clients are 100
    5. Source System Conversion in BID
    Source        Target
    CRD100 -     BID100
    ECD100 -     BID100
Question: I need the conversion also from the CRM and ECC systems is that correct?
    6. Source System Conversion in BIQ
    Source        Target
    CRQ100 -     BIQ100
    ECQ100 -     BIQ100
    BID100 -       BIQ100
Question: I need the conversion also from the CRM and ECC systems is that correct?
    7. Source System Conversion in BIQ
    Source        Target
    CRP100 -     BIP100
    ECP100 -     BIP100
    BIQ100 -       BIP100
Question: I need the conversion also from the CRM and ECC systems is that correct?
If there are thoughts and/or suggestions otherwise would be appreciated.  Thanks

    Hi Niten,
I am not sure about you requirement for these source system mappings.
My guess is, when you transport BI objects from dev to quality or dev to production , you want your BI object to adopt to the source system in the target systems landscape.
example - If you transport a BI datasource which has the source system name in it, or an infopackage, the in BW dev it would point to R/3 dev and after transport it should point to appropriate source system, that is R/3 qa or prod.
If this is the requirement, then you need to maintain the settings in RSA1 in Tools--->Conversion of logical system names.
Log on to QA system and in the 'Conversion of source system names after transport' maintain the source system as dev and target system as QA system. Here you have to maintain the logical names of the systems.
Do the same in production. PN you need dev to prod in this case not QA to Prod. Consult with your basis to confirm the transport route.
In BW -> In SPRO ->SAP Netweaver->Business Intelligence->Transport settings--->Changin Source system name after transport
Click on the page symbol next to it, to read more on this.
    Hope it helps,

  • Flat file as a source - now more confused then before.

Sorry to open this topic again - i just got confused to what needs to be done (i did read all of the posts on previous topic - honest!) got confused to who did what and how it needs to be done. it's hard to be stupid sometimes :(
    here is what i have:
OWB server (target + runtime repository) = RHEL 4
Source (the location of the flat files) = shared drive/folder on Windows
OWB client (my machine) = Windows (unfortunatelly)
I followed the steps described in
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31080_01/doc/owb.102/b28223/def_flatfiles.htm#CHDHBECD
created samba mount point from OWB server to the Source files:
    /mnt/folderA/folderB/source_file.txt
mapped shared drive from the source onto my machine
    Z:/folderA/loderB
created location for the flat files in OWB:
    TEST_LOCATION = \\windows\folderA\folderB\
imported flat files into OWB (had to go through the sample)
created the map 'TARGETLOAD' - simple load the data from the flat file into the table
    validation produced the following message:
VDL-2398: No data file specified. Generated code will use the sampled file name and the file location 'TEST_LOCATION'
--which is fine isn't it? it should be using this file in that location
    generation went OK.
    deployment produced this error:
SQL*Loader-500: Unable to open file (/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/owb_1/owb/bin/unix/\windowsfolderAfolderBTARGETLOAD.ctl)
    SQL*Loader-553: file not found
SQL*Loader-509: System error: No such file or directory
i checked this directory - there are 2 files there that were created by OWB:
    \\windows\folderA\folderB\TARGETLOAD.ctl
    \windowsfolderAfolderBTARGETLOAD.log
Could anyone please enlighten me on what is going on? What do i have to change/amend/edit/tweak in order to solve this? all i want is to be able to load the data from flat file on the source windows box into the table in OWB server.
Any help/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi GB
Thank you very much for your reply.
I cannot use external tables - my superiors decided agains it, so i am lambered with external files (even jedi mind trick didn't work!).
What i do is import external files from windows box. The location is specified as \\windows\forlderA\folderB
--Mount the drive onto unix then register the files location as the unix path.
i have a samba mount point from unix box to this windows location. But what i can't do is to select is as a location. i even tried to mapping this mount point onto windows box, so that it looks like \\unix\mnt\folderA\folderB - and of cause when i execute - i get the same error.
I even tried configuring the sql loader (right click on map and select configure -- create), but i cannot do it even that way. coz everytime i try to create - OWB automatically assigns windows path to it.
IT told me to let them know what i need and they will create it (map the drive etc) the problem is - i can't think of how to do it! and i do not have a priveleges to start 'trying things out'... well they say if i break their security one more time -i am in trouble!
I know it sounds sad, but could you please let me know what i need to have/to do in order to make it work.
Hope you do not mind my request and thank you very much for all your kind help and advise
    Kind Regards

  • Cube like aggregation behavior from a flat file data source

Is the following workflow possible in Xcelsius and if so how would your organize you logic to be able to acheive this?  Any examples would greatly be appreciated
My data source is XML, therefore a flat file.
The flat file contains multiple dimensions for which the customer wants to aggregate by based on the selection and also include and "ALL" option for every dimension/selector.
Essentially, the file is structured like this:
    ie: Dim1  Dim 2  Dim3   Dim 4   Dim5  Metric1    Metric2
           a        c         e          j          l          5             5
           a        c         e          j          m        3             2
           a        c         e          j          n         4             8
           a        c         e         k          o         3             4
           a        c         e         k          n         8             2
            ...etc
We need drop down selectors for Dim1-Dim4 with the "ALL" option.  I would have my tables and charts etc use the Dim5, Metric1 and Metric2.
I've used the "Lookup" function to create 1 level of aggregation in a flat file structure with 1 dimension, such as the "Lookup" would call all the Dim1entries and insert into a group of referenced cells and then i would use the "Sum" function from Excel.
But is this possible with multiple dimensions and include the "ALL" option.  If so, how?  The workflow defined is ideal for a CUBE architecture but for many different political reasons we need to be able to address this with Xcelsius being sourced from a flat file ie XML.  Any insight would be greatly appreciated..

    hi there.
if you backend is SAP BW connected via OLAP Universe you could use L0 Dimensions for all aggregation in WebI Layer. (Check the Blog's of Ingo Hilgefort for details)

  • Flat file missing in datasource

Hello iam loading the flatfile record into the infocube in this process while iam creating datasource after naming the data source i need to select flat file option for source file field  but flat file option is missing.how to solve this problem.i think basis guys need to configure this .what do u experts suggest

Create a new source system for flat file and then try if you don't have one. Yes - Basis guy basically do it or if you have permission, you also can create it.
    To create source system:
RSA1>Source Systems>right click and click Create
Choose radiobutton Symble with PC, File System(Manual Metadata,....)
Click Transfer and give the logical system name and source system name
    click continue and activate it.
Now you can use this source system to load flat file.

  • Transporting SOURCE SYSTEM

    Hi Experts,
I created a Flat File Source System in BW Development system based on that i created DSO,CUBE,MULTICUBE,PROCESS CHAIN and REPORTS.
    Issue :
I need to transport them to Test and Production system. There is no Flat File source system avaliable in Test & Production....I know that we don't Transport Source Systems across BW Environments...how to deal with this...do i need to ask our basis team to create source systems in Test and Production before importing any transports.

Yes - you basis guy will help you to setup the source systems.
STEPS TO CREATE FLAT FILE SOURCE SYSTEM
step:1 select source systems under modeling in AWB.
step:2 select Source Systems root node.
    |---> context menu
    |--->create......
step:3 select your required source system Icon.
(in your case it is PC Icon).
there it askes for a logical.......and source system name...
here u can specify any name of ur wish
    for example:-
    logical sys name --- PC_FF
source system name --- flat file source system*
    *press Continue * button.
Observe the activation icon to confirm the successfull creation(_glowing lamp icon_ symbol)

  • Flat file load error

    Hi.
I am getting the following error when loading .csv file from "Client Workstation" but the same file is loading fine from "Application server".
Value '10/1/206 ' of characteristic 0DATE is not a number with 000008 spaces
I look for your suggestions to solve and understand this.
    Thanks
    Kumar

    Hi Dinesh,
I solved the problem by using SDATE in transfer rules as per the SAP note 161506. I am giving the note below for others who might land with similar problem.
    Thanks
    Kumar
    SAP Note Number: 161506
    Summary
    Symptom
You want to transfer data from a source system into BW from a file (flat file) that also includes date entries (for example, for the 0CALDAY InfoObject). However, when you load the data, the data disappears.
    Other terms
Time characteristic, transfer structure, transfer rules, InfoPackage Scheduler, InfoSource
    Reason and Prerequisites
In the flatfile of the source system, a date exists which is not stored in the internal format YYYYMMDD but in the external (user-specific) format. In the transfer structure maintenance, no routine is specified for the conversion exit for the corresponding date field. An incorrect data type and an incorrect length can be assigned additionally. The missing conversion exit causes an incorrect processing of the date during the conversion to the internal format of the type DATS and length 8.
    Solution
In the maintenance of the transfer structure, standard values that expect the date while the data is being stored in the internal format of the YYYYMMDD system are entered for the 0CALDAY InfoObject (calendar day):
InfoObject Field name Type Length Conversion exit   0CALDAY       CALDAY      CHAR      8
The problem described above is corrected with the conversion of the date fields into the internal format in the flatfile.
If you want to maintain the external format of the date in the source file, implement the following changes in the transfer structure maintenance for the 0CALDAY field:
InfoObject Field name Type Length Conversion exit   0CALDAY       CALDAY      CHAR    10   SDATE
Note that the type must always be CHAR (not DATS). The predefined field length is changed from 8 to 10, and additionally the conversion routine SDATE is entered.
IMPORTANT: The external format for the date in the flat file must match the standard settings of the user in the system (System -> User profiles -> Own data -> Fixed values) such as DD.MM.YYYY MM/DD/YYYY and so on.
Each time you make a change in the maintenance of the transfer structure, you must
    a) save the new entries,
    b) activate the transfer rules again (InfoSource -> maintain transfer rules),
    c) exit and access the Administrator Workbench again (see related notes below) before the next set of data is loaded.

  • Flat file data load to BW datatarget-update mode

I am loading Revenue data using flat file. I am not going to overwrite anything in my futur updates.
each time if I load I have to add the values.
    Can I create
Flat file -> ODS--> Cube or
    Flat file -
    > cube.
In the transfer structure which update mode I need to set .(FULL/Latest status of changed records / Additive delta)
    I have to create 2 infopackages-Initial load /Delta load
    I am in BW3.5 system
    Please provide some lights
    Thanks

    Hi
If I understand ur question correctly, I think
    u can create both
Flat file -> ODS--> Cube or
    Flat file -
    > cube.
    as u like
I think for flat file loading there will be no Initial/ delta load, u can do only full update

  • Problem Experts OWB 10gR2 - Mapping with OMB - Give a name to the flat file

I'm trying to create a mapping in OWB by using the Experts (OMB),
where the data source is a database table and the target is a flat file (to transform a table to a flat file).
The tasks of my Experts :
This task create a mapping, and add a existing table on it.
         OMBCC '$thepath'
         catch {OMBDROP MAPPING 'M1'}
         OMBCREATE MAPPING 'M1'
         OMBALTER MAPPING 'M1' \
         ADD $INITIAL_LAUNCH_CONTEXT_TYPE OPERATOR '$thetable' \
         BOUND TO $INITIAL_LAUNCH_CONTEXT_TYPE \ '$INITIAL_LAUNCH_CONTEXT' \
This task change the context and create a flat file
         OMBCC '/PRJ_LABO_PHARMA/SRC_FILE'
         catch {OMBDROP FLAT_FILE 'NEW_FILE'}
         OMBCREATE FLAT_FILE 'NEW_FILE' \
         SET PROPERTIES (DATA_FILE_NAME) VALUES('fichier_genere.txt')
This task add the flat file to the mapping, and create a connection between the source (table) and the target (flat file)
         OMBCC '/PRJ_LABO_PHARMA/MOD_SRC_LABO'
         OMBALTER MAPPING 'M1' \
         ADD FLAT_FILE OPERATOR 'NEW_FILE'\
         BOUND TO FLAT_FILE '/PRJ_LABO_PHARMA/SRC_FILE/NEW_FILE' \
         OMBALTER MAPPING 'M1' \
ADD CONNECTION FROM GROUP 'INOUTGRP1' OF OPERATOR '$thetable' \
TO GROUP 'NEW_FILE' OF OPERATOR 'NEW_FILE' COPY ALL
This task update the flat file structure
         OMBRECONCILE MAPPING 'M1' OPERATOR 'NEW_FILE' \
         TO FLAT_FILE '/PRJ_LABO_PHARMA/SRC_FILE/NEW_FILE' \
         USE (RECONCILE_STRATEGY 'REPLACE', MATCHING_STRATEGY 'MATCH_BY_OBJECT_ID')
Then I have a task which execute this mapping.
Everything is good, but during the execution I have a error VLD-2357 : The target file's name is not indicated for the file NEW_FILE.
I don't know how to give a name to the flat file in OMB.
    Help me please.
    Best regards
    Samy

Just like if you built this in the UI where you would have to configure the flat file operator and define a target data file name and possibly the location these properties should be set in scripting.
Set the property TARGET_DATA_FILE_NAME to the name of the data file.
    Something like....
    OMBALTER MAPPING 'M1' \
    MODIFY FLAT_FILE OPERATOR 'NEW_FILE' SET PROPERTIES (TARGET_DATA_FILE_NAME) VALUES ('my_datafile.csv')
    Cheers

  • Flat file via JMS - how to (most easy)?

    Hi experts
My scenaio is R/3 -> XI (technology not decided) -> legacy system (via flat file structure and JMS)
I would like to find the best way to do this. The receiving system only takes a flat file with 150 char length in each line.
Until now i have tried to do this using test message to XI and then do a pseudo mapping to a XML structure. This XML is then parsed to a flat file in the JMS adtapter using module localejbs/AF_Modules/MessageTransformBean. This "parsing" is a rather time consuming solution and im not sure it is the best solution.
I just saw a how to guide explaning how to make a flat file from a IDOC-XML using ABAP mapping. I could use this by just making sure my IDOC segments was 150 char length. The downside of this is that XI is reduced to a IDOX-XML transformer and hides no complexity for the R/3 system.
What do you think is the rigth way to go? Is there an even better solution?
    Kind regards
    Martin

The mention HOW TO guide is:

And I sould mention I would like to also receive data from the legacy system (wich also sends files with 150 char lines)

  • URGENT : Program to convert flat file to XML file.

    Hello,
Good Morning. I want an urgent program to convert a flat file seperated by '/' to an XML file format and store that in the the application server. If any one has done such a developement, could you please send me the code.
The flat file format is as below :
    72/070414/114147/11973//100-//EA/00000000///04198//RRT0/RC23///////353825001511172/72/070414/123620/11973//1000//EA/00000000///04198//RRT0/RC23///////354762008125236/72/070414/125411/13814//1000//EA/00000000///04198//INV/ID06///////90000000002697/72/070414/140820/11973//1000//EA/00000000///04198//RRT0/RC23///////353057002479718/72/070414/145438/13814//1000//EA/00000000///04198//INV/ID06///////90000000002739/72/070414/145438/11973//1000-//EA/00000000///04198//INV/ID06///////353057002479718/72/070414/150008/13814//1000
It needs to be filtered by removing the '/' and also grouped based on two fields namely store number and transaction number.  The sample XML output required is as below :

  • Is it possible with out BPM- update transaction from flat file - XI -RFC

    Hi
my requirment is:  i need to update 2 values transaction(ks01)
Required data we get in flat file(Val1,Val2), that data needs to be updated in transaction KS01 in r/3 system.
Scenario is: Flat file - XI - Rfc -KS01.
im have come across couple of doubts while thinking this way:
->is it possible using fie -to- rfc scenario to update KS01 transaction in R/3 system through RFC, if possible some body please explain the complete process to implement this scenario.
->is it possible file -to- rfc without BPM in XI
can somebody please help out me, how can i approach for the above requirment
-> help would be appriciated and thanks in advance
    Regards
    Rajesh

The BAPI / RFC corresponding to your requirement is :
    BAPI_COSTCENTER_CREATEMULTIPLE
You scenario on  a high level would be FILE-XI-RFC
in your IR, map the corresponding fields of the fiel to the fields in the BAPI's interface.
As BAPI is synchronous , you may have to use  BPM to implement the Asynch-Sync bridge.
