Space under images?

I get this space unter some of my images or in the divs the
images are in.
The pages is here and there is too much space under the logo
and under the large image on the right.
http://www.agilitygraphics.com/clients/somerset
The css for those looks like this:
.logoCell {
width: 760px;
margin: 0 10px;
background: #fff url(../images/general/frame_top.jpg)
repeat-x 100% 0%;
.logoCell img {
vertical-align: bottom;
#logo {
margin:16px 0 15px 16px;
The html looks like this:
<!-- Start of logoCell -->
<div class="logoCell">
<img src="images/general/logo.gif" alt="The Somerset
Group" id="logo">
</div>
It displays fine in DW, but has the space once viewed in the
browser.
What is wrong here?
Thanks a lot!

You should be able to resize it in just about any photo/image editing software such as Photoshop, Preview, iPhoto and many others.

  • White spaces under images...

    Ok... I am still working on my site, have loaded the browsers
    and am having a browser issue which I can't seem to figure out. I
    have the page on a test site at
    http://www.babybumps.net/testsite/index2.shtml
    The problem is that in Safari and Mozilla there is a small
    white line under each of my images that have a "editable region"
    tag on them. I can't seem to figure out what I should be doing to
    correct the issue. Any suggestions? The code is attached.
    Also, does anyone see any other issues that I may not be
    noticing? I want to make sure that the code on this page is really
    tight and clean before I move on as it is the basis for the
    majority of the site.
    Thanks so much for all of your help. I have been struggling
    to muddle through and learn CSS and SSI with a book and the
    internet over the couple of months. I'm hoping that my questions
    don't make me seem like to much of an amateur. ;)

    Why don't you try and comment on the suggestions you have
    already been
    given? Is there something about them you don't understand?

    Hi, I have a column of two rotator and two images down the right side of the page (in the link below), the first rotator is just where I want it to be but as I go down the gaps get to wide, but I only want about 10px between them, I've tried doing -10px and -20px but this don't seem to make any difference, can some one help me please. Thanks Jeff

    Not sure where images are getting their top margins from but increasing their negative top margins seems to work

  • Space under flash movies

    Hi All,
    I am having an annoying problem:  when I use swfobject code to embed flash movies, it leaves a space under the movie that breaks the design.  This happens when viewing it in Chrome or Firefox (on a mac), but not in Safari.  I have found that when I just paste in the <object> code alone
    created when I publish the movie out of flash into my HTML document, the space disappears.  I have tried removing all line breaks and extra spaces
    from the swfobject code to no avail.  This also happens when I add the movie in using Dreamweaver CS4 (insert->media->swf) , which uses
    swfobject.
    Here is an affected page, note the space under both the header flash movie, and the main movie under the nav: http://hamptonsdesignstudio.com/index2.html
    Here is the page with just the object code and the desired design: http://hamptonsdesignstudio.com/index.html
    I would like to be able to use swfobject to provide alternate content for
    search engines, but not at the expense of breaking my design. Any
    suggestions ?
    Thanks,
    Colin

    Glad you figured it out.

  • Disallow Spaces in Image Names

    Hi,
    There is a long running problem with Business Catalyst at this moment in time - it allows spaces in file uploads.
    This is a severe problem and simply shouldn't be allowed in any modern CMS.
    If I give an isolated example, I recently helped a client of mine launch an Email Campaign from their CP. Everything appears fine in all browsers, however in Gmail, images with spaces in simply break.
    This comes down to our client uploading images with spaces in, which suffice to say we have told them not to do. It's easy to say we should tell our clients to do this however this will not do. It is simply a requirement of all CMS' in this day an age as files with spaces in will almost always cause problems somewhere.
    Before I carry on ranting, is there a way for me to enable a requirement for spaces in file uploads?
    If not, this feature needs to be implemented.
    Thanks.

    Hi Liam,
    In the minds of my customers is it a BC problem or is a web problem? It is a BC problem.
    Look at it this way; Facebook, twitter and the many hundreds of websites that you can upload images to either disallow you from uploading images with spaces or loop through file names and convert the image filename to be web friendly.
    We can't expect less tech-savvy clients to remove spaces from their images, especially if there is no clear warning on the website to remove them. Are you suggesting, that we train each and every user of each and every website that we have built to remove spaces from their filenames?
    Are you serious?
    There is no debate here - BC should be doing something to fix this problem, whether it is to give adequate warning and advice during the file upload period, to rename images to be web friendly or to disallow spaces in images completely it has to be done. To suggest that this is a 'web problem' is to make excuses for Adobe. We should not have to train our clients to remove spaces from images file names.
    While I agree that with the tech-savvy it is simple to remove spaces from images it is not something we should expect users to do. For an example, let's take a large scale eCommerce website. There are multiple users of that website, some tech-savvy, others not-so. This eCommerce website takes on a new user to help manage their products, who we will call John. John isn't very tech savvy.
    The business-owners take John through the basics of uploading a product, possibly even suggesting he removes spaces from image file names. However, being the new guy, John doesn't remember that and fails to remove spaces from a couple of images. Nobody knows, because these images appear fine in the latest browsers. Three weeks later, this business decides to launch an email campaign, which looks great in tests to Outlook! As the business-owners are not tech-savvy, they very-happily launch the email campaign based on a template created by the original developers without testing. The original developers cannot take into account spaces in images as HTML email cannot run JavaScript.
    Of course, just after the send date Employee #5 notices that all of the product images are broken in Gmail. The business-owners then swiftly contact the web developers and all the blame comes to them, despite that fact they advised them on this originally.
    So in conclusion here, the business-owners lose out on valuable profits and their reputation is damaged and the web-developers reputation is scarred indefinitely, with Business Catalyst's problems being blamed on them as the reseller. Everybody loses.
    And all of this could of been avoided simply if Adobe had put in adequate efforts (such as those previously described) to alleviate this problem.
    To suggest that we should be training our clients and all of their new and changing users to do the following is to make excuses for Adobe's failures.

  • White space under table on page how to get rid of it

    I created a new page, inserted a table to fill the page and
    put in a background color. When I look at the page in Dreamweaver,
    there is no white space under the table at the bottom of the page.
    When I preview the page in a browser, the table ends about an inch
    from the bottom of the page and I have about an inch of white space
    under the table. Does anyone have an idea why this is happening?
    Thanks for any help you can give. I'm going crazy trying to
    get rid of it.
    Diane

    Fix up the errors with your html firstly - then see where you
    are at with
    the page....
    The first thing to do would be to get rid of the table
    heights - it's
    invalid and won't render cross browser anyway. Error:

    How do i crop "out" a piece of image=ex: how it will look when its cut for a window. Crop a white space in image?

    I think this will help if you are using version 11 or 12.
    Make a selection with a selection tool of the area you want to remove.
    Example: rectangular marquee tool - make a rectangle.
    Use Select>Refine Edge:
    Use the View section of this dialog box to see a few views.
    If you need to refine the edge of the selection (smooth, feather, shift, etc.) you can do that in this dialog box.
    You may want to check the box about remembering your settings in case you need to come back to them.
    In the Output section, you can pick New Layer with Layer Mask and click OK.
    You should see the hole in your image.

  • Space under photo deletion

    has anyone experience having a blank space under the "trash bin, share, add to" line when deleting photos in Photo Stream?

    No, can't say that I have.

  • Space between images

    When placing images on a website, I get smal spaces between the images. They are only visible in Safari, not in Firefox. What am I doing wrong?
    www.conceptualz.nl

    I went looking, didn't see any images with space problems
    But one thing you can do in your style sheet is the following:
    img {
         border: 0;
         padding: 0;
         margin: 0;
    That will remove any space between images.
    If the images are links, then you would:
    img a link {
         border: 0;
         padding: 0;
         margin: 0;

  • Clear white space under layer divs

    Is there a way to clear the white space under layer divs?  See below.  There are three layers, and then another div tag below that that has "Text".  The red area is pointing to the white space I need to get rid of.
    Here is the code:
    <html>
    <head>
    <style type="text/css">
      div.layer1 {
      background-color:lime;
      width:150px;
      height:150px;
      position:relative;
      top:10px;
      left:80px;
      z-index:2
      div.layer2 {
      background-color:yellow;
      width:100px;
      height:100px;
      position:relative;
      top:-60px;
      left:35px;
      z-index:1
      div.layer3 {
      background-color:orange;
      width:120px;
      height:120px;
      position:relative;
      top:-180px;
      left:175px;
      z-index:3
    </style>
    </head>
    <body>
    <div class="layer1">
      Layer One<br>
      Layer One<br>
      Layer One<br>
      Layer One<br>
      Layer One<br>
    </div>
    <div class="layer2">
      Layer Two<br>
      Layer Two<br>
      Layer Two<br>
      Layer Two<br>
      Layer Two<br>
    </div>
    <div class="layer3">
      Layer Three<br>
      Layer Three<br>
      Layer Three<br>
      Layer Three<br>
      Layer Three<br>
    </div>
    <div> Text </div>
    </body>
    </html>

    There is really no such thing as a "layer div". Old versions of Dreamweaver used the name "layer" to mean an absolutely positioned div.
    What you have done is to create relatively positioned divs. A relatively positioned element is moved from its normal place in the flow of the document without affecting other elements.
    Your three divs have a combined height of 370px. As a result, your text is placed that far down the page.
    If you wanted to move it up, you would need to give the Text div an ID and a negative top margin of -170px.
    #textdiv {
        margin-top: -170px;

  • Why is there space under the copyright bar on the contact page?

    why is there space under the copyright bar on the contact page? all the other pages in the site fit flush at the bottom except on the contact and coaching page. does anyone know why? thanks
    http://worldmarketdesign.com/strategic/contact.html

    What I'm saying is that the footer will always follow the content above it.  On short pages, footer may not align with bottom of browser viewport because the page content above isn't long enough to fill the screen.  Since everyone uses different display sizes, this is perfectly normal behavior and shouldn't be a major concern.
