Spamming ads on Lenovo Yoga2

Hi,
I bought a Lenovo Yoga2 laptop two month ago and ever since I keep getting tons of adds and I can't get rif of them. It seams that the laptop has some pre-installed softwares that put adds on every site and open new tabs that I don't want. The problem occurs in every browser and is getting very anoying as I spend more time trying to close the adds and new tabs than doing what I want to do.
Please help me with a solution.
Thank you.

Dear Vali-RO
Welcome to Lenovo forums
If this is happening during working on the browser not only when you start the browser you have two options
Firstly is to try to install any 3rd party adware and malware program to scan your machine with or reset the explorer settings from the windows features and uninstall any other browsers and reinstall them again then
To reset the explorer go to the control panel and in the search bar write windows features
choose turn windows features on/off and uncheck explorer then restart
when the machine starts go to the windows features again and recheck the IE and restart
Thanks

  • Ads in Lenovo Solution Center 2.4.002 Revision 19058

Today I got a prompt to update my Lenovo Solution Center software. So far nothing unusual. But as I started the installation process, I encountered an advertisement to install the Farmerama game! (see picture below)
Dear Lenovo! Come on! I didn't pay a huge amount of money for a business laptop to see such irrelevant ads in my lenovo updates and I must say that I personally don't like this new practice at all. Is this going to continue in future updates?

I can report the same behavior when I updated today as well. My ad was for some kind of Warcraft clone game that initially caused me alarm as I was concerned it could be malware as it certainly seemed out of character for Lenovo to to allow such an unprofessional advertisement to appear on such a core utility update. I have confirmed that a friend of mine had the same happen when they updated their Lenovo Q700, a consumer grade laptop. They must be using the same suite of utility software across platforms now. I was not happy to see this and it concerns me greatly. Please dont follow the poor practices of lesser companies who in my opinion have often made a lesser grade of product, This does not bode well for the future. Lenovo utilities are the only pre-loaded software I allow on a sytem, and if this continues it will not be the case much longer. I also believe that allowing such low-grade non-professional advertisements that offer imediate download is a 3rd party security concern, and is something that the majority of your cusotomer base would not appreciate, especially in this form. This is not good.

Irgendwelche Tipps irgendwer?Danke und Gruß

  • Unwanted spam ads pop-ups

    Hello all,
I have an LG Cosmos 2 with no data plan and no internet access etc. It's just a phone and texting and that's ALL I want. All of a sudden for about a month I am getting pop-up ads and other "On this Day" crap. Is there a way to stop this annoying, unwanted, communication? Besides changing phones and companies? It's annoying enough that I am considering it.

Sounds like "Premium messaging" - reply STOP to the texts, and call to see if there is a $9.99 charge on your bill for premium messaging.  Then go online to your MyVerizon account and BLOCK premium messaging services.
How did it happen?  You may have taken a survey online, or answered a Facebook question from a friend, or signed up for a ringtone...and the premium message deal was part of the "terms" you agreed to when you did so.  It happened to me via Facebook, and I was getting a "joke-a-day" and got charged the premium fee - nipped it right away and blocked premium messaging, and it hasn't happened since.

  • Spam blocking for email accounts

Anyone know how to block spam ads from email accounts?  I have both work and personal email accounts--spam only coming in on on personal.  I've installed Lookout Mobile Security, but doesn't stop the 7-10 product ads per day from coming into my inbox.  Verizon tech assistance was courteous and helpful, but wrong.  They're the ones who told me to install Lookout Mobile Security. It may work for antivirus, but doesn't stop spam.

    Hi,
Would you please let me confirm whether all functions (which are related to Exchange Server) run as normal? Just
a confirmation, thanks for your understanding.
    Please run
SBS BPA and check if find relevant issues. In addition, please refer to GaryD9’s suggestion in following thread and check if can help you.

  • Yoga2 13 Wifi hardware disabled

    Hi there,
i bought a Lenovo Yoga2 13, it comes wirh a Intel Wireless N. It came with an OEM Windows 8.1.
At first the Wireless worked pretty good with no problems but then it would not turn on anymore.
It came after i tried to copy the partition.
    Solutions i already tried since:
    - enable wireless in bios
    - A whole lot of drivers
    - reinstall windows 8.1
    - installt windows 7 (a solution was described that in windows 7 it could be activatet with the hot key, sadly the hotkey software i found on lenovo could not be installed on the yoga2)
But none worked, in windows 8.1 i can switch the "flightmode" but it switches only the bluetooth adapter. The Wireless adapter stays grey and cannot be switched.
In the device Manager it says that the networkcontroler works fine. (it is activatet)
in the network adapters it is also activatet but has a red corss.
When i use the intel software it tells me "wifi on". if i switch it to off an back to on, the message says that the Hardware Switch is diabled... wich i do not have.
The only solution i found and did not try was with linux, since i do not have linux:
    https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Windows-based-Tablets-and/Wifi-is-hardware-disabled/m-p/1307405#M1...
But my Problem seems to be the same, an hard block in the wifi controler.
Can u help me with a windows fix?
    Thanks michael

I'm having the same problem. Also on the Yoga2 13.
When I run diagnostics from Intel PROSet/Wireless tools (link from the Network and Sharing Center - available after I installed latest Intel drivers), and it says that the "Hardware radio is OFF". The WLAN is enabled in BIOS. Where is this hardware switch?!
At first, the wireless card seemed to be working. It downloaded and applied several WIndows Updates. After a few reboots, I went to configure other apps and I went into BIOS to enable Legacy boot mode (to boot from USB stick to run a backup and repartition to run other OS). At some point the wireless radio got turned off (sometime during or after the windows updaters and before/after the backup, long before I actually repartitioned), and there doesn't seem to be a physical hardware switch or Fn key combination switch to turn it back on. Windows sees the Intel Wireless-N 7260 in Device Manager, but it says that WiFi is off when trying to connect to a network (it shows as off greyed out).
I did a parallel install of WIndows 8.1 with Update 1, it made no difference. I've tried different drivers (the original that shipped with the tablet, the updated one from Lenovo's site, and Intel's updated drivers) with no effect. I tried uninstalling KB 2903939, 2887595, and 2883200 (which had no effect) and then downloading on a USB key and and reinstalling them in the correct order, still no effect.

  • Management studio dialogs not displayed correct in high resolution

I am using a Lenovo Yoga2 with 3200x1800 screen resolution, and some dialog boxes are not displayed correct, like the Select backup file dialog that doesn't display directory and the file list. Is there any fix for this?

I'm having the same issue. Let me try to elaborate a little, providing you with more details.
    Laptop, Dell Precision M3800
Resolution, 3200x1800 (getting more common on new high-end laptops with 15+ inches)
    OS, Windows 8.1
Application, SSMS aka SQL Server Management Studio - version 2014 (earlier version has same issue)
SQL Server Engine irrelevant (tested with 2014 and below - all the same)
I understand you want to see a screenshot, but really, it doesn't make sense as you won't be able to reproduce the error if you are watching on e.g. a FullHD screen. therefore, I've taken a screenshot and resized it to a FullHD size so you get a better feel
of the issue - however, I have to mention text will look a lot more crisp on a 3200x1800 screen (that's kind of why you want a screen with high PPI). That said, it's still way too small to look at.
If you view below image on a 15.4 inch screen with FullHD, you get a feel of how I work with SSMS today.

  • IPad 2 WiFi Range Issues (but not issues with connectivity when in range)

Okay. I hate to start a new thread when there are bunches of threads on the iPad 2 having WiFi problems (particularly with 5Ghz networks and also related to 4.3). Nonetheless, I'm not seeing anyone talking about range in these forums.
Issue: iPad 2 WiFi range is not as far as iPad 1 (with no cover on either).
Alternative Explanation: iPad 2 has difficulty connecting to Airport Express or Time Capsule extended networks.
Devices: iPad 2 3g, iPad 1 3g (iOS 4.3), iPhone 3gs (iOS 4.3), iPhone (iOS 3.2x), iMac, MacBook Pros, etc.
Network Router: Simultaneous Dual-Band Airport Extreme (latest version) set up with 2.4, 5 ghz and Guest Networks (each with their own name).
Network Extender: Airport Express (latest version) extending the 2.4 ghz network
Network Extender 2: Time Capsule (original, single band) extending the 2.4 ghz network
Longer Description: iPad 2 connected without an issue to the 5 ghz network and the 2.4 ghz network when it was in the same room as the Aiport Extreme. Didn't have any issues maintaining that connection.
However, the iPad 2 doesn't work in any of the farther rooms and can't see the network. iPad 1 and iPhones have no issues (and typically show 1 or two bars). I believe they typically are connecting through the Airport Express (but it could be the Time Capsule).
Given that the iPad 2 isn't even seeing the networks, I'm guessing it's a range issue, but hoping it's not.
Anyone else seeing this? Any fixes?

While it is possible that an Apple moderator (Apple host) could pass some information to an Apple development/support group, in practice this doesn't really seem to happen (at least often). I believe that the moderators are kept quite busy just administering the forums and keeping them under control (no spam, ads, abuse, etc.). I've never seen a post by an Apple host here or seen a technical correction to a post (and there is certainly a lot of incorrect information posted here).
Unfortunately, a lot of new posters here seem to think that they are talking directly to Apple and post bug reports, feature suggestions, complaints, etc. These would be much better submitted via the Apple feedback vehicle at http://www.apple.com/feedback. These are not anonymous, are directed to the appropriate product and provide an email contact for Apple to get back to the submittor if more detail is required.

  • Re: Open box deal was not as much of a deal as we were told

I just purchased a Lenovo Yoga2 Open box. The people at the store were completely uninformed about the item. They said it was a returned item and in original condition. When I pointed out some scratches on the laptop and onthe mouse pad, they said that is the reason that the item was marked down, but everything else was supposedly in original condition.
They assured me that it was returned within 15 days and that they do a system reboot before offering it to customers again. I repeatedly asked if this was a floor model and they kept reassuring me that it wasn't. AFTER I paid, they told me, that there was no guarantee that it was not a floor model. I asked for the rating of the model, they didn't give it to me.
The best buy open box policy states:
"Examples of missing parts are power cords, software, manuals, cables, batteries, remote controls, etc. All open box items are certified to function, but missing parts may be required for full function. If the missing item or items impact full function, the condition rating will be "fair.""
At this point, I want to know if this item adheres to your open box policy or not. If not, I want to be sure, so I can return it.
They were not willing to discount the laptop for the scratches, any more. After I decided to purchae the marked down device, the sales person hnds me the laptop and sais, thank you. I look at him, confused and ask for the box. He said open box means it doesn't have a box. I asked for all the original accessories and he assured me that the new laptops come with nothing but the charger and the laptop. No paperwork, NOTHING.
I'm not happy with this purchase. I got it because If figured I have a  few days to change my mind. But the Best Buy open box policy states that items come with their original contents. This laptop DOES NOT!

If you are within the return period, return it.
Floor and display models fall under the open box policy.
The policy does not state that all original contents (It sounds like the representative may have, but that's a different story) are present. The policy you pasted yourself even discusses the possibility of missing parts, even parts that could reduce functionality of the unit. Typically, on an item that is open-box, there is (should be) a sticker/tag on it that denotes it as Open Box and lists (should list) any missing items.
Also, not sure if it's posted in store or on the receipt or anywhere, but this (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=pcat17301&type=page) states that.. "Open box items are tested to function properly, but may be missing parts and/or have cosmetic damages "
But yeah.. your choices will probably be to 1) return it to the store and get a refund or 2) decide the reduced price you paid was worth the cosmetic damage and any missing accessories and keep the laptop.

  • When using Mail, two of my email messages have "Virus Alert" in the header. Why?

Two times now the header on an email message to me in reply has said "Virus Alert". Does this mean I have a virus or coincidentally two people I sent emails to have a virus? I am using the Mail application.

IMHO and I tell you this a mac tech for 15 years in the corporate world is AV is more trouble than it's worth on the mac and safe browsing habits and education are a far better defense against mac issues. The two biggest threats for mac are 1) scams, and 2) adware.
Adware can be cleaned up using free tools, I highly suggest
    http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php
    • stay away from anything that spams ads regardless of how safe the site is where you saw the ad.
    • stay off sites that offer anything that seems shady or dodgy.
    • file sharing and storage sites are notorious for trying to force things into your downloads but lately sites like softpedia, download.com have been bundling crap ware along with legit software.
    • Create two (or more) emails, one for friends and family, one for signing up for stuff. You can always forward the sign up one to the main one and track where the junk is coming from. Many times when you sign up for a service, or forum, or anything they can promise until blue in the face they wont give your email out and many times I've discovered (through disposable email sites) they are full of crap.
    • get up-to-date (and intelligent) information on computer threats at sites like
    http://www.thesafemac.com/
    or cent, or PCworld
Mainstream media is notorious for misinforming and sensationalizing anything they can when it comes to computer hazards.

  • Help! PS Elements 12 user interface is so small it's almost unusable...

My editing options, etc are WAY too small!!!! Can someone PLEASE tell me how I can change the view? If I uninstall and then select custom install when re-downloading, can I select to download the program in a larger format?
    I'm using Photoshop Elements 12 on a Lenovo Yoga2 Windows 8

Have you tried changing your screen resolution to see if everything becomes a bit larger?  To do this, close all programs that are open and then right-click on your desktop.  The small screen will open and you need to choose Screen resolution.  Click on it and change it to something like:
    1440 x 900
Of course you need to try other resolutions as well to see what is better for you.
    Good luck and post back.

  • After installing FF4 browser - you suggested an update to Adobe. Adobe now corrupted. Next?

I have a 5 year old computer using Windows XP and I am disabled, living on Social Security Disability. I am a computer novice - AND unable to purchase a new $1,200.00 Adobe program to replace the one that came with my computer.
I downloaded the recommended plug-in for Adobe as recommended by your site, and now - while adobe shows forms accurately on screen - it prints completely corrupted. (For example - IRS forms print in something that looks like machine programming language.) My Adobe is completely corrupted - I cannot even use IE browser to print forms.
It literally worked fine 5 minutes before your FF4 update.
What do I do now? I've since tried a "find or fix" to my system - so there's no way to make a system restore work.

I did. It will not operate with the FF4 browser. Not ever. I've given up and am using IE - and just dealing with the nightmare of the 400 million spam ads and cookies it allows. At least I can download the Adobe files I need to.
FF4 techs need to re-design their compatibility add on for Adobe 10. Period.

I purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 a few years ago and have been using it on a regular laptop.  I just replaced that laptop with a tablet and I want to load the software on this new device.  However it does not have a cd drive.  I used a portable hard drive to move the contents of the directory from the old laptop to the new laptop, but I don't know how to install.
