Speakers similar to Inspire P380

I've been using Inspire P380 for ~11 years, and now I need a replacement since the sound became weaker and lost details. Customer support told me that P380 didn't have a successor, so I was wondering if anyone who has owned them could tell me which current models have a sound quality comparable to it. I don't mean in terms of specs only (since one can find those easily), but in terms of sound quality, warmth, detail and so on. Because, at least for my standards and in the price range, P380 had a nice, clear sound, and I don't want a downgrade.
There aren't many creative speakers available where I live (there's mostly logitech, and I think creative speakers have a nicer sound), so I'm kinda limited with the choices, and the only way I can buy them is to order them online. Meaning, I can't test the sound until I buy them. I managed to find Inspire T3130 (no T3300) and the wired version of Inspire S2, I think those fall within a similar price range.
I saw T6160 once in a store (which is like T3130, right?), and compared to my P380 the satellites seemed...cheaper, and of lower quality. But that's just visually. I've seen S2 only on pictures. I always keep the sub on minimum, which is why I'm considering 2.0 speakers too. Sadly T20 aren't available anywhere and won't be, T40 are a little too expensive, but I managed to find T10. So they're an option too.
I'd be really grateful if anyone could help me. Thanks in advance in anyone answers.

Hi Tyra,
You may have already purchased your speakers. But just in case, here are a few tips on your selection:
-> From the speakers you mentioned, these (Inspire T3130, T10, and S2) can actually be seen on our main website. You can do a compare and see some of the dimensions/specifications that can help you with your decision (Link below).
-> At the end of the day, it depends on what type of user you are for these speakers. If you are on-the-go, then you should opt for the new line of portable speakers that allow wireless connections (EX: Creative Airwave). However, if you are going for the price range of the P380 with a similar speaker setup (2.1), then the speakers you have mentioned (you may want to check out the SBS A250 as well, if available) are the ones to choose from.
-> Unfortunately, the best way of testing on your end probably would be searching through google for product reviews for these speakers.

    hey guys
juz recently bought the inspire p380 2.1 speakers from the SITEX PC Fair in singapore.
btw, im from malaysia and now im having problems with the wired remote
it has loose connections on the jack connector (the green thingy)...
and the sound produced in the speakers is kinda... fussy
the wired remote did work for a couple of weeks b4 this problem appeared...
so my prob is, its hard for me to claim my warranty and send this back for repair
coz i bought it in singapore and the staff there told me if i want to send my product for repair, i will have to go back to the main creative HQ in singapore
or a creative service centre located in another state here in malaysia, which is like 2 hrs dri've away from my place here
so how am i suppose to claim my warranty?

I am diagnose the problem, it's due to the new firmware so if Creative read this, can you put the remote control compatibility in new firmware? !!
how did you diagnose the problem? unless you have 2 identical zen player. one with latest firmware and another with older firmware to actually test it to confirm it's the firmware problem. I'm still incline to believe either your player is faulty or the remote is faulty and the problem is not due to the player firmware.

  • Inspire p380 volume control

Hello, this is my first post here.
I have a little problem:i have connected my old inspire p380 speakers to my xbox 360. The problem is that having done that, i cannot set the volume because the volume wheel is on the cable that goes from the speakers to the pc, which cannot be used with the xbox 360.
Is there another way to set the volume?
    Thanks in advance?

It's constantly making the sound go in and out, loud then quiet, and when you try to change or touch the pod it even cuts off completely.
Is there anyway I can get this replaced or am I going to be stuck with a perfectly good set of 7 speakers + a subwoofer that can no longer be used? After searching this problem and finding many others have had it, I suspect the latter. =/
    Thank you
    Hi sandsglands,
This is an old speaker model. However, I still suggest you contact Creative Support for any possible replacement of the volume control pod.

  • No sound from rear speakers on my Inspire 5500, all I get is a hissing sound! :(

    Hi ppl, im new ere.
I just bought a Surround sound, i put it together, play music, and thers no sound from my rear speakers. its the same when i play a game and look at a DVD (which DO support 5.1 sound)
I already made sure all the connections in the amp and subwoofer are in properly and they are...
And I also know that it cudnt be my sound card because it also supports 8.1 and im only trying to use a 5.1.
    Please help someone....
    All help is greatly appreciated
    Dave

    Hi Dave,
First things first. For music and games (and the speaker test in Windows), what you're experiencing is normal. A digital connection like coaxial or optical SPDIF can only pass over either an encoded stream (like AC3 on DVDs), or a stereo PCM signal. If you're playing music/games, the sound is not an AC3 stream, but essentially several stereo signals. The connection simply cannot pass this over. For more detail, read this forum thread and this knowledgebase article. You can turn on the upmix function on the decoder to give sound out of more speakers, but this is an effect, so you will not get the positional sound out of games for instance.
For DVDs however, this should work perfectly, as you are sending an unprocessed AC3 stream from the system directly to your speakers. All you need to do is adjust the settings and it should work fine. Make sure the DVD software's audio option is set to SPDIF/bypass, rather than 5.1. Choosing 5.1 in the software will make it decode the signal rather than pass it through. Then check the settings for the card and it should work.

  • Creative Inspire P380 Problem

    Hi,
I have recently purchased these speakers off eBay, and the bass port makes a really annoying noise. It is almost a 'chuffing' noise, like a really deep rattle, sort of like a plastic 'wollowing' sound. Sorry if that doesn't really make sense - it's hard to explain! I have opened it up and everything seems to be OK, and I do know a lot about speakers. It is REALLY getting on my nerves, and it stops if I turn the bass down, which shows that it's probably just air pressure etc, but if there any way to prevent this? I like a lot of bass in my music, and have it set to about 3/4 most of the time. Thanks.

Plus I have the Logitech Z506 now, because those speakers were so crap.

  • Creative Inspire 6.1 6600 Sound Problem

I have a Creative Audigy Audio Processor (WDM) (Audigy 2) and the speakers are Creative Inspire 6.1 6600. The sound goes down when the selector of volumen is between 3 and 4. I need to increase the volume to make it sound again, but it goes down again. What`s going on?

Does this problem only occur in certain programs? Because I have a similar problem with my sound suddenly dropping without warning. But it only happens when I'm playing music in Windows Media Player. If it does have something to do with the media player then I suspect it could be the "WOW effects plugin." I hope this helps, or at least narrows down your problem.

  • Very poor sound from internal speakers, very good on headphones.

    Hi,
I hope you can give some advice.
New to all this so apologies if protocols are broken etc
    New 20" imac, running Leopard.
very thin, tinny sound from internal speakers (similar to hearing someone's else's walkman
on the train). when I plug headphones in its great no probs.
Advice please! I don't want to send it back I'm halfway through my assignment.
    Hadders

I just realized I've never heard the internal speakers on my new iMac, I have always used good 2.1 speakers since I got my eMac years ago and the internals really sucked.
I was just curious, have you heard anybody elses built in iMac speakers and did they sound better than yours or the same? Maybe at the Apple Store?
I don't know, I just didn't know if they really improved them. Maybe other iMac users can chime in on internal speaker quality. The only reason I said all this was because you mentioned that headphones sound great, which is the same port that a set of external speakers would go.
Sorry to hear you had to send it back for that. Here's hoping you didn't have to send it in for what the speakers really do sound like.

  • Speakers 6.1 or 7.1 to my Sound Card

Hi guys... well... I have a SB Audigy2 ZS and I want to know what speaker system is the best to buy...
I dont want speakers with 500RMS... just between 80-20RMS... to play DVDsMovies and PC-Games... must be 6.1 or 7.1... must have analogic Inputs... not Digital.... to use the EAX for games.
I was thinking in Creative Inspire 6.1 6600... or Creative Inspire 7.1 T-7700... what do u think about these?... what other Speaker System do you suggest?... thnxz for your time.-

A card like the Audigy 2 ZS can decode sound from DVDs, and output this to analog speakers like the Inspire T5400, T7700, etc. The DDTS-100 can be used independently as it's a decoder box, so this could be used seperate from the PC.
If you're going to be using the PC as the entertainment center, a soundcard like the Audigy 2 ZS matched with analog speakers would be the best. If you want something a little more powerful than sets like the T5400 and T7700, take a look at the Megaworks (ProGamer G500, 550) and Gigaworks (S700) speakers.

  • Still have 6 inspire mt1200 speaker stand adaptors available for trade

I have the 750 Gigaworks Speakers and now have a total of six Creative MT-1200 speaker stands. Only needed four until I broke one of the adapters, so I had to buy two more stands. (You can't buy the adapters separately here in the US)? If anyone out there isn't using the Megaworks/Gigaworks adapters from the stand kit, I would be happy to trade for the other Creative Inspire adapters that came along with my sets of speaker stands. Let me know if anyone has the adapters I need. They are so flimsy it seems so silly and extremely expensive to have to pay $70 plus shipping, just to replace two small adapters. Hope Creative will fix this little problem in the future. luvmyrescuedogsTucson,AZUSAThe 6 plastic adaptors that I still have available, fit the Inspire Speakers. They are the plastic ones that are horizontal and have one hole in them. The other long vertical Inspire Adaptors have already been traded to a forum member from The Netherlands.
I believe he said his Creative speakers were the Inspire 5700sAnyway, if anyone has the ones for my S750 Gigaworks, that I can trade for, please let me know.

First, let me thank the two Creative forum members who were able to trade their extra speaker stand plastic adapters to me for the extras ones that I have. It is very much appreciated. Now, if there is a forum moderator reading this message, then would it be possible to pass along my frustrations on being unable to order these very essential parts from Creative here in the US? Surely, I can't be the only person who's metal speaker stand has fallen over and broken that little plastic adapter. These stands are very prone to tipping over. If nothing else, why not make that adapter out of metal? When ordering our stands, why not let us just buy the adapters that fit our particular speaker, instead of giving us extras for two other models? These speaker stands are very overpriced and it seems wasteful to have to junk them because of the weakness of a little plastic part or to have to buy extra stands just to get the part needed. luvmyrescuedogs

  • Need Help Connecting Logitech Z560 to New Intel Imac

I am a newly converted PC user. Like most of us, I am amazed by my new Imac.
I have a Logitech 4.1 z560 speaker setup that I would try to use with the Imac, if possible. My problem is that the connection from the speaker "control center" is actually two 3.5" mini phono jacks. Since there is only one audio output on the back of the Imac, I cannot figure out how to make this work. I can plug in just one of the connections, but I only get stereo sound coming from the front two speakers. Here is a link to the manual for the Logitech speakers:
    http://logitech-viva.navisite.net/web/ftp/pub/pdf/speakers/z560.pdf
The connections I am referring to are numbered "4" in the diagram - described as "Audio input cable to PC - green & black plugs". I would appreciate any help. Thanks!

Hi wextasy: I have a set of Logitech speakers similar to those, and they work quite well. The manual says, with a 2 Channel Sound system (iMac), you plug the Green plug into the output jack, and enable "M3D" to get best sound. It does a pretty good job of simulating 4 channel sound. The other "black plug" is unused in this situation.

  • Help me match my wants/needs to a Droid, please.

I'll be eligible to buy a new phone in a month or so. Thought I'd better start figuring out what I want now. Here's how I currently use my phone and what (I think) I want my new phone to do.
I currently have an LG enV Touch with mobile web. I use it constantly to check my web based email, update Facebook, read the news & weather. I like to text, send pictures to friends, take video and take quality pictures with my phone. I like using the touch screen qwerty keyboard and rarely open my phone to use the physical button keyboard.
I'd like to be able to store and listen to music on my phone, which I can do now. Also, a friend listens to some cool radio stations on his Droid, would I download an app to do that?  Can the Droid be hooked up to external speakers similar to an MP3 player?
I have a portable GPS device in my car, what's the advantage to using the Droid's GPS?
Is there a Droid phone that can be used to connect a laptop to the internet? If so, does the laptop require any certain type of wireless card or something else to make this happen? I'm also in the market for a new laptop so this information would be helpful as I shop for that.
I'd like the ability to use some nifty apps but I don't want to spend a lot of money every time I download something. Are there lots of cool free apps available for Droid users? And about how much do the non-free ones cost? Are we talking $5? $20? $1? I have no idea. Where can I go now to see what is available? Is there just one central place to find applications?
Battery life is a concern based on what I've already learned about the Droid phones. Is it logical to purchase a spare battery and change them out as needed?
I'm tough on phones. Is the Droid more delicate than most others or about the same? I've dropped my enV Touch many times and it's still working fine. Obviously, I'd buy a protective case for it. What types are available that are the least intrusive while using the phone?
So... which Droid is right for me?
Gosh, that's a lot of questions, any advice is appreciated. Looks like I may also need to make a visit to the Verizon store and start playing with phones.

If you don't use the keyboard then I'd stick with the "candybar" style phones like the Moto X, or Incredible. Both have built it radio tuners, mp3 players, audio out jacks, and plenty of free apps for all categories. Most apps are a dollar or two. Think the most I've spent is 6 bucks on a really nice mp3 player that does way more than the stock one. Besides, even if you don't like an app you paid for you get 24hrs to get a refund. Apps are searched on the phone program called Market. You can't miss it.
Hooking up to a laptop or other device is possible by tethering, and hotspot. Both are priced out on your plan as options.
Battery... power power power is the name of the game. Light to moderate users can slide for a day. Heavy web browsing, downloading, gps, music... a few hours to a third of a day. I'd suggest putting the money aside and plan to get one. Mandatory purchase? No, but the more you use that thing that's all you'll want. Grab a case and don't drop these puppies. These things are durable but not as much as the old phones from a few years ago. And, the days of battery life going for 3-5 days uncharged are gone too.
Finally, gps.... its great! Very smart and handy. Turn by turn like a garmin. Short story; my check engine light came on while driving on vacation. I needed to figure out what was wrong fast, and in an area that I knew nothing about where the closest help could be. I quick grabbed my phone, opened the maps app, typed in autozone, it found the closest one and directed me right to it! It took all of 2 min to type and reach my destination with a picture of autozone on my phone when I was within a block or so. I gained a whole new respect for my phone that day. It literally saved the day!
BTW nothing serious wrong with the car.
And I'm rocking the incredible. But all droids have Google maps app.
    Happy hunting!
