Special character in some of the employee records

Hi,
I have found special character in some of the employee records which is causing some reports to error out. Our instance is configured for English language and these special characters are unrecognized by the application. I have attached some employee names with the special character below.
Request you to please look into this and reply ASAP.
===
Employee Number      Full Name
1278     M_ü_ller-Seydlitz, Mrs Hilda Suzanne
1009     Evas, Mrs Sîan* Elynda

first you need to create a database function like the one below.
the query to identify those records is then the below:
select full_name from per_people_x
where is_not_valid_text(full_name) = 'N'
you can use the function also to verify other fields like addresses and so on.
the corrective action according to me should be a manual one, meaning open the form and update the names not compliant.
thanks
regards
create or replace
function is_not_valid_text (p_text in varchar2) return varchar2 is
v_is_valid varchar2(100) := 'Y';
v_length number := length(p_text);
begin
for i in 1 .. v_length loop
if not ( -- allowed char
ascii(substr(p_text, i, 1)) between 65 and 90 -- from A to Z
or ascii(substr(p_text, i, 1)) between 97 and 122 -- from a to z
or ascii(substr(p_text, i, 1)) = 32
or ascii(substr(p_text, i, 1)) = 46
) then
v_is_valid := 'N';
exit;
end if;
end loop;
return v_is_valid;
end is_not_valid_text;

  • HCM CRM 7.0 Integration: Some of the employee missing

    Hi Expert,
    We did the HCM and CRM7.0 integration, the org, position and most of the employees have been downloaded to CRM successfully.  But one tricky problem here, we suddenly find 1 employee is missing in CRM. Checked in the download program report, the certain employee has been replicated with green light but without a CRM number.
    Does anyone know what's the problem here? Thanks for your help in advance.
    Rgs, Michelle

    Hi Michelle,
    There are multiple scenarios to your issue.
    1: Some data may not be maintained in HCM or the employee record may not be active in HCM.
    2: Check in CRM using PP01 if the central person record is created or not. If central person record is not there, than employee record is not coming over to CRM via ALE. So you have to investigate why is that happening.
    3: If the Central Person is there but the employee BP ID is not there, use the report RHRHDL00 in CRM to delete the central person.
    4: Send the record again using PFAL and the record shall come over and the BP ID shall be created.
    Thanks,
    Jyoti

  • Special character in XML causing the file to hit worng folder.

    I am facing program, while sending a data to a repository using SOAP XML. The file path which is needed has a special character and this is not getting identified at the target.
    here is the brief descriptio.
    1) We generate the PDF using the XML report in ERP.
    2) Using the same data, we generate SOAP XML file and send to a respoitory.
    3) Here using this SOAP XML, the PDF is generated and stored in a location which is sent in the file.
    we are sending the target path as "PO's from Customer" as below:
    '<target_folder_path>'||'/Documents/'||TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'YYYY')||'/PO's from Customer'||'</target_folder_path>';
    The path needed is '/Documents/2012/PO's from Customer' , but due the apostrophe, the file is hit /adadmin path.
    I have tried replcaing the special character by ' , but still no luck. If i remove the special characters, then the file is hitting correct path.
    But the requirement is to have '/Documents/2012/PO's from Customer' .
    Is there is a way this can be achived. Please advice.

    Is it as simple as using two single quotes between PO and s?
    '/PO''s from Customer'I can't tell from what you wrote how you are generating the value in the first place so if not correct provide more details related to whatever builds the path.

  • Replacing tracks in live mix results in bleed-through of some of the prior recording. How do I prevent this?

    I was doing some recording of our band yesterday using Logic Express 9 (13 tracks from a mixer going out the Firewire port into the Mac). For some songs, we wanted to replace the entire song, so I activated the replace button and started re-recording from the beginning. Visually it seemed to replace the tracks, and for many parts of the songs, it did just that. For some, however, there were still remnants of the prior recoding in the background. It was not consistent from song to song, sometimes you could hear some of the prior vocals in the background, in other cases the drums. These remnants were not throughout the entire song, however. You could hear it in some places but not in others. I do not see evidence of multiple takes when I look through all the tracks. It's as if it did not completely erase some of the prior audio, or blended it with the new recording.
    Is there something else I need to do to get a complete replacement?
    Thanks for any insights you may have.

    Hi,
    if you have recorded the whole band through microphones, the earlier versions are ambient sound pickup from the mics of the other tracks. This can even occur if a singer wears a very loud headphone which you can hear through the vocal microphone. Just make sure during your recording session that all instruments that should be recorded very precise - without ambient sound - are recorded separately in a dry recording booth.

  • ALV Excel Download problem ( Special Character)

    Hi,
    I am unable to download completely in XLS format from ALV grid. When i tried in couple of ways there is a special character( " ) in one of the filed. Due to the same Excel download has some problem. I tested by removing those and it worked fine,
    Please suggest me to solve the issue.
    Thanks,
    Bhanu Gattu,

    Data strings with special characters can not be downloaded into XLS format from ALV grid. In my case, I replaced the special character " with space and I could download the data into excel.

  • Between SAP Licenses and Employee Records Realtinship

    Hi Experts
    <u>The Scenario of the issue is as below.</u>
    <b>SAP Licenses held by the company is -- numbers.
    And the employee records including PD(appraisal),PA  & OM exceeds the allowed records numbers.</b>
    Qn1 Whats the realtion between SAP license and records ?
    Qn2 How to go about in this scenario?
    Qn3. Should i prioritise the existance of records in appraisals and delete the least priority after consulting the client?anyway OM & PA records should not be deleted.
    Please throw some light on the issue.

    Abhilash,
    Usually the SAP Licenses are with respect to named users and their rights to the system....
    If you have N licences of various types and M employees accessing SAp ( M > N ) then it will be an issue .. usually for services like ESS - you have a licence called employee user and for more access you have professional licenses etc...
    You could check the type of licenses that the company has and the number of licenses of each type and also the Contract signed with SAP as to the licensing policy..

    Hope it helps...

  • Change Password with changePasswordForSelf and Special character

    Hi,
    I was trying to use the OIM (9.1.1.0) API to change the password using:
    userIntf.changePasswordForSelf(oldPassword, newPassword, confirmNewPassword);
    This works when I use some standard password.
    The issue appears when I try to enter certain special character: e.g: < or >
    The error returned is :
    <Error (class Thor.API.Exceptions.IllegalInputException): Thor.API.Exceptions.IllegalInputException>
    Exception is: Thor.API.Exceptions.IllegalInputException
    I reckon this is done to prevent injections.
    I didn't see any restriction in any of Oracle documentation and was wondering if you can help me understanding:
    - if you have observed the same issues before
    - which character are affected by this
    - if there is a work around to allow these character
    Thank you.

    That's because the special characters you are using are the scripting tags and it confuses itself with the OIM scripting process, for instance JSP's etc.
    So I would recommend not to do it and have your policies in place which restricts end-user to have a password with such special characters. I did not tried that but you can possibly do that.

  • Need to prevent special character in generated XML file

    Hello,
    I am using E-business Suite 12.1.3 and XML version 5.6.3.
    My XML file is ending up with a special character (a Latin capital letter U with circumflex) at the end, after the final closing tag.
    Due to this the concurrent program that needs to output the XML is ending with warning.
    My XML file is produced using a PL/SQL procedure, as follows (I've simplified it):
    FND_FILE.PUT_LINE(FND_FILE.OUTPUT,'<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>');
    FND_FILE.PUT_LINE(FND_FILE.OUTPUT,'<DOCS>');
    FND_FILE.PUT_LINE(FND_FILE.OUTPUT,'<LETTER>');
    FND_FILE.PUT_LINE(FND_FILE.OUTPUT,'<EMP_NAME>Michaela Hart</EMP_NAME>');
    FND_FILE.PUT_LINE(FND_FILE.OUTPUT,'</LETTER>');
    FND_FILE.PUT_LINE(FND_FILE.OUTPUT,'</DOCS>');
    But when I run the concurrent request that creates the output then try to view the output in Internet Explorer I get the following error:
    Invalid at the top level of the document. Error processing resource 'http://servername.domain...
    </DOCS>
    If I view the source of the page in Internet Explorer it shows a square after </DOCS> indicating the special character that has been added.
    I checked this by looking at the output file in unix (cat -v o7766582.req) and it showed up the Latin U character.
    I realise it could be to do with the character set I am using. I checked what we had on the server:
    > echo $NLS_LANG
    American_America.UTF8
    I would have thought that corresponded with the XML declaration character set but I'm not sure.
    Does anyone have any other ideas about why I have this special character, and how it could be removed?
    Thanks in advance,
    Hazel

    Hi AlexAnd,
    thanks very much for your reply.
    I'm now unable to recreate the problem since dbms_xmlgen worked. If I switch back to my previous method it works fine!
    I'm not sure your suggestion would help, as there were no special characters in the data, the special character was added after the last tag I output. I hard coded the data (as in my example) for testing purposes so there was no SQL in use and the special character was still added at the end of the XML output. But I will definitely give it a try if I get the problem again.
    I had the idea that maybe I should have been using FND_FILE.PUT rather than FND_FILE.PUT_LINE but now the error is gone I can't tell if that would have solved the problem either.
    I appreciate your input.
    Regards
    Hazel

  • Error: Invalid dimension member with special character / in BPC NW 7.5 SP7

    Hi experts,
    We are encountering the following problem in our Financial Planning application.
    We are migrating our existing BPC solution from one server to another through backup and restore. The existing solution was on BPC NW 7.5 SP 5. The profit_centre dimension in the existing solutions has several member ids with special character '/' (forward slash). The dimension never threw an error when processed in the existing solution and there is planning transactional data against these member ids.
    While the entire configration , appset , files were successfully restored through UJBR on the new system (BPC 7.5 SP7) through UJBR (backup and restore), the masterdata could not be restored only for this Profit_centre (masterdata for other dimensions were processed successfullu). All the member ids with / are rejected for this dimension. The same error is thrown if processed through the admin client from the member sheet.
    Error: Dimension member PC_FF/WS/NT is an invalid member ID
              Error in Admin module
    Is there any setting which need to be made to allow / character in member ids? Any suggestion to get around this problem would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Abhiman

    Hi Abhiman,
    Yes, you need to maintain the transformation file to correct all dimension member IDs. Can you please refer to the following link with a similar issue:

    There are 5 special characters which in xml   & < > "  '  if the Oracle fields contain any of those characters it will cause invaild xml.
    This can be solved at the oracle side be replacing the special characters by it's  html encode equivalent, so  & becomes &amp; , I think the best way to solve it
    is to make a custom pipeline component and translate the special characters there.
    There is my Send Port Properties. Do you mean the default biztalk pipeline component ("XML Receive") cannot translate any special characters?

  • What should be stored in the DB when a special char is saved into the db?

    Hello,
    We have a 9.2.0.6 DB with charset as UTF8. We are putting the special character '&#2309;' into the database through a j2ee application. The application stores and displays the special character properly.
    My question
    1) When the special character is stored in the database, what should it be stored as? Should it store the HTML Entity (decimal) value - &#2309; or should it store UT-8 (hex) value - e0a485?
    2) When the data is viewed through a different application, it displays &32309; instead of '&#2309;'. Both the applications are almost similar. Any pointers on what need to be looked into would be appreciated
    A few details on the special character '&#2309;'
    This is a Hindi letter - Devanagari letter A
