Special character printing in xml reports

Hello,
When i am trying to print euro symbol in xml report, i am getting some '?' symbol instead of euro symbol.
Need your suggestion here what extra tags we need to use for the same.
I have designed rtf file and inserted euro symbol using word doc.
Thanks,
Amar

In Report properties at XML prolog Value field change to below code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252"?>
or try like below
copy contents to BI Publisher Desktop\Template Builder for Word\fonts in your <oracle_home>\lib\fonts

  • Barcode printing in XML report PDF output

    Hi All,
            I want to print barcode of invoice number / purchase order number in the XML report PDF output.
            Anyone please suggest me with your ideas and experience.

    Hi Bogdan,
    The steps mentioned in the doc is what i did in order.
    I couldn't understand the step # 13 & 14.
    Log in as XML Publisher Administrator
    Navigate to Administration --> Font Files --> Create Font File
    Available fields are Font Name and File
    --> for Font Name, choose any descriptive name
    --> file will browse your PC to locate the font file
    Navigate to Font Mappings -->Create Font Mapping Set
    Mapping name is the name you will give to a set of fonts.
    Mapping code is the internal name you will give to this set
    Type: 'PDF Form' for PDF templates. 'FO to PDF' for all other template types.
    Create Font Mapping (this allows you to add fonts to a set)
    Font Family is the exact same name you see in MS Word under Font. If you don't use the same name the font will not be picked up at runtime.
    Style and weight must also match how you use the font in the RTF or PDF layout template. Normal and Normal are good defaults.
    Language and Territory should remain blank (NULL) unless you have a strong business reason, as these fields can cause the font not to be picked up at runtime.
    Navigate to Configuration General -> FO Processing -->Font Mapping Set. This can also be done at Data Definition and Template level, via the corresponding Edit Configuration button on those pages. The hierarchy is Site-> Data Def -> Template.
    Select your new mapping set.
    Make sure the font is not referenced under File --> Properties --> Custom in the RTF template file.
    Under General, set a Temporary Directory. The font will be stored under a /fonts directory at runtime, initially created the first time the font is used.
    Upload a template that uses your special font and test using preview or by submitting a concurrent request.

  • Need to prevent special character in generated XML file

    Hello,
    I am using E-business Suite 12.1.3 and XML version 5.6.3.
    My XML file is ending up with a special character (a Latin capital letter U with circumflex) at the end, after the final closing tag.
    Due to this the concurrent program that needs to output the XML is ending with warning.
    My XML file is produced using a PL/SQL procedure, as follows (I've simplified it):
    FND_FILE.PUT_LINE(FND_FILE.OUTPUT,'<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>');
    FND_FILE.PUT_LINE(FND_FILE.OUTPUT,'<DOCS>');
    FND_FILE.PUT_LINE(FND_FILE.OUTPUT,'<LETTER>');
    FND_FILE.PUT_LINE(FND_FILE.OUTPUT,'<EMP_NAME>Michaela Hart</EMP_NAME>');
    FND_FILE.PUT_LINE(FND_FILE.OUTPUT,'</LETTER>');
    FND_FILE.PUT_LINE(FND_FILE.OUTPUT,'</DOCS>');
    But when I run the concurrent request that creates the output then try to view the output in Internet Explorer I get the following error:
    Invalid at the top level of the document. Error processing resource 'http://servername.domain...
    </DOCS>
    If I view the source of the page in Internet Explorer it shows a square after </DOCS> indicating the special character that has been added.
    I checked this by looking at the output file in unix (cat -v o7766582.req) and it showed up the Latin U character.
    I realise it could be to do with the character set I am using. I checked what we had on the server:
    > echo $NLS_LANG
    American_America.UTF8
    I would have thought that corresponded with the XML declaration character set but I'm not sure.
    Does anyone have any other ideas about why I have this special character, and how it could be removed?
    Thanks in advance,
    Hazel

    Hi AlexAnd,
    thanks very much for your reply.
    I'm now unable to recreate the problem since dbms_xmlgen worked. If I switch back to my previous method it works fine!
    I'm not sure your suggestion would help, as there were no special characters in the data, the special character was added after the last tag I output. I hard coded the data (as in my example) for testing purposes so there was no SQL in use and the special character was still added at the end of the XML output. But I will definitely give it a try if I get the problem again.
    I had the idea that maybe I should have been using FND_FILE.PUT rather than FND_FILE.PUT_LINE but now the error is gone I can't tell if that would have solved the problem either.
    I appreciate your input.

  • Special character in receiver xml

    Dear All,
    I have a file being moved from SAP to Market end point server. The receiver side is in xml format (no FCC)
    Code page conversion is used - UTF8 TO UTF16LE
    A special character is occurring in the receiver side: [] It is actually new line character and I suupose due to incompatibility it is coming.
    How do we get rid of this character?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    What Kind of mapping do you use? I have explored this behaviour in a XSLT Mapping and i resolved it by using <xsl:strip-space element = "*" />
    Maybe this help?

    Hi,
    Which device type is used to create the PDF? i.e. which deivce type is used in the OTF data that is converted to PDF? If you use device type PDFUC or SWINCF, then it should work fine. (see SAP not #999712 about unicode PDF conversion)

  • Printing XML report (with report.xsl stylesheet) shows font colors, but not table highlight colors

    I am trying to print the XML report generated by TestStand to a PDF in order to archive it.  When the XML report is rendered in Internet Explorer, everything looks fine -- Sequence names are highlighted in teal, Pass is in green, Fail is highlighted in red.
    However, when I print this page to a PDF (using BullZip PDF printer, or even the XPS printer), all of the table highlighting is gone.  The UUT Result in the header is red or green font color depending on the pass/fail state, but sequence names and any formatting applied to tables within the body of the report have no highlighting.
    Is the stylesheet altering what is rendered when the XML file is printed?
    This is the output when viewed in IE
    This is the output when viewed as a PDF printed from the same file viewed in IE.
    Thank you,
    Matt
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hey Matt,
    This is actually because of a default setting in Internet Explorer to not print background colors on webpages. To change it, simply go to the Page Setup screen (on IE9, you click the gear icon, then Print > Page Setup) and select the option to print background images and colors. After doing this, the printed report should contain the colors you see on your screen.

  • XML Publisher Report ends with Warning -- Invalid Character Error in XML

    Hi,
    I have migrated the standard report 'Invoice Print Selected Invoices' from Reports 6i to XML Publisher. It has to print a Euro(€) in the report. It does not even generate the XML File fully. It gives the below error in the XML File. When i remove the special character, it works fine.

    Hi Tim,
    Thanks for your adhoc response.
    I have gone thru the Document 222663.1 and it says that the Developer 6.0.8.23 is required to handle this problem. We are using almost the updated Developer version i.e., Developer 6.0.8.25. So, this should be handled automatically, but it still errors out. Please suggest.

  • Special Character Restrictions for Native XML Driver

    Hi,
    I have found the following special character restrictions in the documentation:
    "Because they are handled specially by the Native XML driver, do not use the following special characters to define element types and attributes in your XML schema:u201C.u201D, u201C/u201D, u201C\u201D, u201C:u201D u201C@u201D."
    After checking the createad XML-Files in our projects that we will use for CR4E there is often a  u201C.u201D in the definition. Because this is delivered from third-party, we wish that the  u201C.u201D  will be enabled.
    In the moment we create the XSD-Files from the XML-File with XML2XSD.
    It is possible in the future?
    Best Regards
    Arnold Meier

    The changes aren't in XI Release 2, but in 2008.
    Do you still have Nha's XML data?  I edited Document_Policy, Policy_AllCoverages, Policy_Beneficiary to Document.Policy, Policy.AllCoverages, Policy.Beneficiary, then use the following code in CR4E 2.0:
    reportClientDocument reportClientDocument;
    ConnectionInfo connectionInfo;
    PropertyBag propertyBag;
    * Connect to the Java Print Engine and create a new document.
    reportClientDocument = new ReportClientDocument();
    reportClientDocument.setReportAppServer(ReportClientDocument.inprocConnectionString);
    reportClientDocument.newDocument();
    * Define connection to the XML and XSD files.
    propertyBag = new PropertyBag();
    propertyBag.put("Local XML File", "C:\\Documents and Settings\\tueda\\Desktop\\nha.xml");
    propertyBag.put("Local Schema File", "C:\\Documents and Settings\\tueda\\Desktop\\nha.xsd");
    propertyBag.put("Convert Multivalue to Table", Boolean.FALSE);
    propertyBag.put("Database DLL", "crdb_xml.dll");
    connectionInfo = new ConnectionInfo();
    connectionInfo.setAttributes(propertyBag);
    * Specify the dataset in the XML as a Table, and add to the report.
    Table table = new Table();
    table.setConnectionInfo(connectionInfo);
    table.setName("Document.Policy/Policy.Beneficiary");
    table.setAlias("Document_Policy/Policy_Beneficiary");
    reportClientDocument.getDatabaseController().addTable(table, null);
    * Save report to file C:\local_xml.rpt
    reportClientDocument.saveAs("nha_local_xml.rpt", "C:\\", ReportSaveAsOptions._overwriteExisting);
    reportClientDocument.close();

  • XML Report Excel Output Numeric & Character value left aligned

    Hi,
    I want the XML Report Excel ouput both numberic and character values to be left aligned in the report ouput. Currently my report excel ouput prints the number value right aligned and character value left aligned.
    I have tried to concat a space to the value to make that as a character value, but this gives a extra space in the report output, which shld not happen..
    Please could anyone help me with a solution.
    Thanks

    Hi Uday,
    You are making number as a string, by adding a character :) , so it will be displayed as string with space and not as number.

  • Special character in XML causing the file to hit worng folder.

    I am facing program, while sending a data to a repository using SOAP XML. The file path which is needed has a special character and this is not getting identified at the target.
    here is the brief descriptio.
    1) We generate the PDF using the XML report in ERP.
    2) Using the same data, we generate SOAP XML file and send to a respoitory.
    3) Here using this SOAP XML, the PDF is generated and stored in a location which is sent in the file.
    we are sending the target path as "PO's from Customer" as below:
    '&lt;target_folder_path&gt;'||'/Documents/'||TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'YYYY')||'/PO's from Customer'||'&lt;/target_folder_path&gt;';
    The path needed is '/Documents/2012/PO's from Customer' , but due the apostrophe, the file is hit /adadmin path.
    I have tried replcaing the special character by &apos; , but still no luck. If i remove the special characters, then the file is hitting correct path.
    But the requirement is to have '/Documents/2012/PO's from Customer' .
    Is there is a way this can be achived. Please advice.

    Is it as simple as using two single quotes between PO and s?
    '/PO''s from Customer'I can't tell from what you wrote how you are generating the value in the first place so if not correct provide more details related to whatever builds the path.

  • Problem about printing special character in bex query analyzer

    Hi,
    in bex query analyzer i have created one restricted key figure , in which i have substracted two date with the help of replacement path.
    So i got result.
    But i am facing one problem. when in both date, if one date is null or # then it is giving some big value like -734567.
    But i want some special character like X instead of this big values.
    So how can i do this?
    With the help of if and else it can be done.
    But how can we print special character in report.
    Please help me
    Thank you in advance

    hi,
    You cannot show X in a formula result. You can highlight the row using exception.
    Still if you want to show X in the result then you need to create a formula variable on a char which returns X value all the times.
    Then you can use the three formula variable to write a formula so that it shows the difference:
    date1 -- formula variable
    date2 -- formula variable
    charx -- formula variable.
    the formula will be
    Count(date1)Count(date2)(date1 - date2) + charx *(count (delta(date1) + delta(date2))).
    this would return the X value if any of the dates are empty otherwise their difference.
    regards.

    Hi,
    I'm facing issue with printing xml reports on R12 instance and followed the note (How To Print XML Publisher PDF Reports Via The Concurrent Manager:metalink id:338990.1) and configured the pasta printer,still printer output is showing the junk charcters.
    Please let me know how to resolve the issue?.

    Hi Hussien,
    We are on 12.1.1 / 11g with AL32UTF8 character set, we have custom reports developed in BI publisher and some some migrated reported from earlier version.
    Both BI publisher based custom like PO/Invoice/Cheque Print & seeded reports like "Active users/responsibilites" are being generated successfuly in pdf output. when copied to desktop and printed it prints properly. But when trying to direct output to printer from concurrent request it is printng junk.
    I checked pasta configuration, all required ghostscripts tools are on the AIX box, am I missing anything in R12?

  • Printing parameter values in xml report, and displaying it in header of the

    Hi All,
    Can anybody give me an idea to print the parameter values in the xml report.
    My requirement is like, I have 10 parameters in report builder, I have generated the xml file and created the .rtf template and finally registerted in oracle apps. But now, the requirement is to print the parameter values in the report output.I don't see any xml tags in the xml output.
    Any suggestion will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    I think all the XML attributes can contain lexicals. If you bring up the property palette against the report object you can just set the following:
    XML Tag Attributes: myParameter="&<P_1>"
    where P_1 is your user parameter.
