Special characters and saving and read_text

I have a problem in serviceorders. when a long text of an operation is created and saved with a special character like / then everything is fine.
when the text of the operation is changed then the changes are not always written back to the database
when I retrieve the text object with read_text then the text before the changes is retrieved ?
strange part is that it is also not consistent. sometimes it retrieves the old version of the text but when I try to simulate the problem it also works fine ?
is the problem caused by the / or is the problem an incosistency of some kind ?
kind regards
arthur

I found in the debugging in IW32 that SAP also had experienced the same problem and have programmed a sollution for it which retrieves the operation short text if there is a difference with the first line of the long text

  • How should we be going about creating and saving and/ or exporting our ODC files using Excel 2013 for use in Project Server 2013 Online?

Hi I need your guidance on how I should go about setting up my Excel 2013 reports so that others in our Project Online 2013 environment can access and updates these reports of mine.
    My questions are as follows:
I presume I need to create and save my ODC files in a PWA > Data Connections folder.  I have English and French users in our environment.  Do I need save them twice?  Once in the French and again in the English Data Connections folder?
     Likewise for the Excel file?
How should I go about creating my ODC files within Excel?  By default, the ODC files are being created on my PC's > My Documents > My Data Sources folder.  I presume I need to get them saved or exported to the PWA > Data Connections
folder. So, How should I be going about creating and saving and/ or exporting the ODC files???

Thank you Guilaume.  May I ask you to help clarify a bit more for me?  If I have to do it for both languages (the reports and ODC files), do I simply copy the same ODC files from e.g., the English to French folder in PWA (Odc files)?  Or does
that defeat the purpose?  Or, do I need to create a new set of oData Feed Connection files with a French version of Excel 2013 and save them to the French Data Connections folder in PWA?  Do I need to have a French version of Excel 2013 to create
French ODC files and ultimately French based reports and/ or vice versa?
I did notice that the following oData metadata command from within a browser produces different results (ie., English versus French metadata returned) depending on who runs it (i.e., French or English user, etc).  As you can see I am a bit confused.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

  • Problems with special Characters in filenames and folders

My problem is that i have a small portlet which lists some files under each other. These files have sometimes the special character & in there name.
If now a person clicks with right mousebutton on such a link, the saving dialog only shows a cryptik filename.
    Example:
    filename = harry&sally.pdf
rightclick and saving the file the new name is something like: 2C576B9904F63BBEE040200A2A040606.pdf
All other files even if they have blank characters or characters like ä, ö ... it works but not with &.
Do anyone could say me how i can manage this?

having special characters in filenames is not a safe and healthy practice as you may see. this is specially true for the content that has to be displayed online using Oracle as Oracle uses <b>&</b> and <b>?</b> for passing parameter values in dynamic URLs. </p>
    <p>
I would recommend estimation of the cost of fixing filenames to tackle this issue rather than to get a way-around to just bury it again. if you are using Unix platform, it should not be more than a line worth of command to fix for all such files using stream-editors; in windows you may take some more. but i understand, changing filenames might require one to see the impact of those changes on all other places where these files have been called. </p>

  • Prevent using special characters in file and folder names?

I've recently begun adding windows clients to my network. In doing so, I've found that on my file shares from OS X server, the windows clients are unable to see files and folders which have names containing special characters such as / ? < > \ : * | ”
Unfortunately my accounting department has been creating files with these characters in their names for several years. I would like to find if there is a way to prevent them from using a defined set of characters in the file and folder names to prevent them from "accidentally" doing so in the future.
I've found that by turning off streams support on SMB in OS X server, that my windows clients can at least see that a file or folder should exist, albeit with a corrupted file name. Removing the special characters from these names allows the proper name to become visible and the file accessible.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

PS: basically it's not a url encoding issue.
    I can url encode "ça alors: it's a déjà-vu",
and pass it in a url query string. But my issue is not
with an url query string, it's with an actual URL, that is,
the actual name of the directory. It
    can't be "ça alors: it's a déjà-vu". But I
want to allow the user to name their directory like that
if they want. So I need a way to encode this into characters
that can be used for an actual
    directory on the server.

  • Unable to add special characters such as # and ( in headers of Report in Text format

    Hi,
I am working on developing a report that will be exported to tab delimited text format from SSRS. The Report has been developed and it is getting exported to tab delimited text format. However, special characters in the heading are getting trimmed. I would
like to get these special characters in the heading of text file. Any help in this regard will be appreciated.

    Hi Abhijit,
Per my understanding that you have add an extension which export the report as .txt format, now the issue is the special characters"#" not display after exportted, right?
I have tested on my local environment and can reproduce the issue , this is by default, when you type some special characters "#" as the textbox name  in the properties window or as calculatted field name you will get error pop up window,
if you type the text in the textbox as "#" it will also not display in the CSV or tab delimited text format report.
But we have some alternative method to make them display some way, more details information below for your reference:
Display "#" in the table header
If we want to make them display in the table header, we need to create an new table an put all the table header as one record in the table, because the value in the table can display "#" correctly:
I assumed you have four columns as the table header(Test1#,Test2#,Test3#,Test4#) please create an new table (HeaderTable )to store these value:
    Create two dataset2:
Dataset1: display the record from step1
DataSet2:display the record of the report
Create two Tablixs as below and both remove the header column, Tablix1(Dataset1) diplay the value comes from the step1 as the new header column:
     Tablix1(Dataset2):Report Data
In this way, when export to tab delimited txt, you will got the table header display correctly.
Display "#" in the textbox outisde of the tablix
If you just want to display "#" outside the tablix, you can just add an calculatted field(Test) and use expression like below to specify the value which you want to display in the calculatted field:
    ="test######test"
Then you can use below expression in the textbox:
    =first(Fields!Test.Value, "DataSetName")
If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.

  • How to compare two strings whether both are equal while ignoring the difference in special characters (example: & vs & and many others)?

I attempted to compare two strings whether they are equal or not. They should return true if both are equal.
One string is based on Taxonomy's Term (i.e. Term.Name) whereas other string is based on String object.
The problem is that both strings which seem equal return false instead of true. Both string values have different special characters though their special characters are & and &
Snapshot of different design & same symbols:
Is it due to different culture or language?
How to compare two strings whether both are equal while ignoring the difference in special characters (& vs &)?

    Hi Jerioon,
If you have a list of possible ambiguous characters the job is going to be easy and if (& vs &) are the only charracters in concern awesome.
You can use the below solution.
Before comparing pass the variables through a replace function to standarize the char set.
    $Var = Replace($Var,"&","&")
This is going to make sure you don't end up with ambiguous characters failing the comparison and all the char are "&" in this case.
Similar technique is used to ignore Character Cases 'a' vs. 'A'

  • Why can't I open files directly like a normal browser instead of all the hassle of downloading and saving and browsing and finally opening?

For most file types (exe, zip, pdf, doc, xls, etc.) the option to "do this automatically from now on" is greyed out, and for the few types of files where I can check the box, a bug prevents it from working.
Similarly, Firefox cannot seem to handle *not* handling PDF files. They work ok with Acrobat embedded, but are extremely unreliable with external Acrobat or Foxit. Some PDFs will open, others must be saved somewhere first.

  • .Xmp files and saving, and these other files that are also .NEFs

Okay, so my boss lives in Vancouver and I live in Ontario. I help her edit photos and then I email her a zip of all the .xmps. Now. Here is my question:
I am currently running LR 2.6, and at the end of my editing I select all the photos and save the metadata to files, but in the TOP LEFT HAND CORNER (you know, where it has that little in progress bar) it says it is saving a weird variation of my original NEF file.
For example...if I have a file that is originally called janie-awesome-0003.NEF it will save it as ._janie-awesome-0003.NEF (note the period and underscore before janie). So I can't tell if it has updated my .xmp files, so I can't tell as well if my boss is getting the proper files or not. I mean, she says she can see that the photos are edited, but is that metadata completely up to date??? This is what is freaking me out. What are those other NEF files? And why can't it just say "saving to .XMP" files instead of those weird NEF files?
So in my folder I have the original NEF files, the weird NEF files, and also the XMP. Does the XMP get overwritten when I save them? My Automatically save XMP is OFF so should I turn it on?
I am SO confused about the whole XMP thing!!!! How can I be sure that my boss is getting my COMPLETELY edited photos instead of just like my first sweep through or something?
    Thanks!
    Janie

Does your boss also use Lightroom? It would be a lot less effort for you to send back the work using File > Export as Catalog. So you would email her an exported catalogue of the images you've edited, and she would use File > Import as Catalog to bring your work into her catalogue. File names would have to stay the same, and there are other details that need to be handled.
The ._ problem is weird. Are the files on an internal or external drive? What sort of connection - USB? Mac or Windows?

  • How to Make a pdf that can be downloaded, filled in and saved and then emailed; Acrobat 9 Pro; Windows

    Hi,
I hope this hasn't been asked before, but I really need to figure out how to do this.   We take forms in Word, convert them using the wizard, and then the only way I can figure how to make them fill in able and then saveable is to distribute through email.  This won't work for me, I need to put them on a website so they don't rely on me to get the forms.
Any help is appreciated.   Here is a link to a state work site here in washington that has exactly what I need. if that help to clarify what I'm talking  about.
    Best, Mary

    Hi Mary,
I have recently gone through this same experience.
The first thing is to set the security.
Go to Advanced/Security/2 Encrypt with password.  On this page go to Permissions and click on Restrict editing.
You will need to add a password, choose the printing allowed, and changes allowed - this is where you allow the form
    to be filled out.
When you have finished these steps, click ok.
Then from the Advaned menu choose "Extend Features in Adobe Reader".  You will see what access the user has to the form.
Your form should be ready to email or add to a website as a pdf form.
    Hope this helps.

  • Emailing and saving and editable form

    Hi there
    HELP!
I have converted an existing legal agreement to an editable pdf form, which will be filled out by users. Once it has been filled out, I would like the user to have the option to either email/save this form. The user will need to email the form to their client who will print it out sign it an fax it back to the user. This form might be filled in by more than one user. Hope this makes sense!
    Is this possible??
    Thanks in advance

    Hi aunkster,
Yes, in Numbers you can have several tables on a sheet.
Click anywhere in a table to make it active. Then click on the top left to select the whole table.
    In Numbers '09:
    In Numbers 3:
Then Menu > Edit > Copy
    Open a new document.
    Delete any default tables.
    Paste.
    Save.
    Email that document.
Please update your profile to show your current version of OS X and Numbers. That makes it easier to answer questions .

  • XMLParser and Special Characters

    Hi,
I'm trying to read in an XML Document from a stream (e.g. a file) using XMLParser. The document contains german text (i.e. lots of special characters like umlauts , , and others).
If I read this stream into a text string all these special characters are perfectly handled (i.e. looks like an , etc.).
However, if I import the stream into an XMLParser.Document using ImportDocument the umlauts seem to be scrambled. If the imported document is without any changes exported again to a stream (using ExportDocument) the umlauts are not displayed correctly anymore.
    Example Stream:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1" ?>
    <UserID>Mller</UserID>
If this stream is imported into an XMLParser.Document and then exported again it contains
    <UserID>Mller</UserID>
I'm using correct XML encoding iso-8859-1 which is for western european languages and I guess it should not be a Forte locale issue since simple string handling of the stream works fine.
    Thanks for any hints,
    Daniel

Let's start at the basics. Right now you are quite limited by your database character set as US7ASCII. You need to migrate to something that will support Latin and Greek characters at least. Maybe EL8ISO8859P7, or UTF-8. Please look at documentation Scanner Utility, available for Oracle 8.1.6 and above to make sure migration is safe before doing any import/export. The title of paper is: Database Character Set Migration, at: http://technet.oracle.com/products/oracle8i/listing.htm#nls
UTF-8 will give you more versatility in the languages that your customer supports now or in the future. There is some performance overhead using Unicode but how much depends? I would base a large part of the Unicode decision on how likely it would be that other languages would need to be supported in the future and special character support.
The special characters that your customer would like to support may already exist in Unicode. IF they don't or you choose another character set then your customer will need to look at the National Language Support Guide, Appendix 'B' "Customizing Locale Data"
Are you running Greek windows? Otherwise how will you enter Greek characters? If you are using Greek windows you probably need to set your client NLS_LANG to EL8MSWIN1253.
On your Forms questions you might want to take a look at the following :
    1. Chapter 4 of "Oracle Forms Developer and Reports Developer Release 6i: Guidelines for Building
Applications" discusses How to design MultiLingual Applications.

  • Special characters and syncronization on multiple ...

    Hi people.
I am syncronizing my 6280 with 2 PCs. Unfortunately there is a problem when syncronizing entries with special characters, like accents, and letters not in the english alphabet. PC Suite seems to add spaces to such entries. Thus when I syncronize again, the entry is recognized as a different entry than the original and is added again. Then I have two almost identical entries, one with strange spaces, and one with the correct accents/letters. Has anybody encoutered this problem and found a good solution?
    Kind regards.
    Thomas

Yes, that is the solution I came to as well. But when PC Suite is available in languages where these characters are normal, I find it a little strange that they don't sync right.
No, I haven't contacted Nokia. With these kinds of issues I always search forums first. They seem a much more valuable source of information.
