Special General Ledger

Hi to all,
My question is that, why we put down payment received and down payment paid in special G.L. though we can direct post it into G.L.
and Second question is that how we process these down payment after settlement of full amount paid or received.
Please give answer as early as possible, i will be thankful to you

Hi
Special G-L Transaction are the transaction in AR & AP. Which are displayed separately in the sub ledger
This may be required for Internal Reason or for Particular Reporting Purpose
It is for down payment made or Down payment received.
We will be using a Spl G-L transaction “: A” while posting.
It will effect the reconciliation account or else it will effect the individual account.
We have received advance from Customer. It is a Liability
Once the goods are supplied to that particular Customer. This advance will be adjusted against the sale amount.
FLOW OF DOWN PAYMENT  Vendors
Down Payment Request :     F-47
Down Payment Posting :     F-48
( Spl G/L = “A”)
Purchase Invoice Posting :             F-43
Transfer of advance payment
from spl ledger to Normal Ledger      F-54

  • Payment method for Special General Ledger

    Dear Friends,
Can anyone please explain me about the Payment method and Payment request difference.
I got a two definitions in SAP liabiary
Under head Payment method and bank determination:
The payment program supports all payment methods including special G/L ledger account transactions (e.g payment with bill of exchange, down payment,u2026)
    and Under head Payment methods:
The payment program for payment requests does not support payment methods portrayed via special general ledger transactions (e.g. bill of exchange, bill of exchange payment request).
Please let me know why he mentioned that the special gl trans. are suported by one defination and other one is not supported.
Please explain in simple english language.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mahendra Dev

    Dear Mahendra,
There is a simple logic behind these two:
Payment requests are not the real documents like payment dues. If there is any due then these are generated. So It says system does not consider the Payment requests for Spl GL transactions.

  • Special Purpose Ledger & Special General Ledger

    Hi Experts
Is there any difference between Special Purpose Ledger & Special General Ledger. If so please give me some real time examples.
    Points will be rewarded.
    Sincerely,
    Ali Abidi

    Dear Ali Abidi:
The Special General Ledger is making refence to special accounts like "Down Payment" used to issued operations that could not be posted to the "normal" general ledger accounts. And in the other side, the Special Purpose Ledger is a Ledger different from the usual ledger used in FI. The special purpose ledger is into R/3 but I think that the main difference is that the first is an account and the second is a ledger used for special purposes. I have not got a reference of time but we can think that the Special General Ledger is an special account used at any time and the Special Purpose Ledger is a separate ledger used when it is required. The difference I think is not in "time" but in the "substance".
I hope being clear for you. If you needed a time reference I could try find it.
    Your Sincerely
    Leonardo Lopez

  • Special General Ledger Transaction -Guarantee

    Dear Experts,
The Vendor should be debited when guarantee  made to vendors but it  has been credited while using transaction code ' F-55'
which is the t-code for statistical posting. The same problem is occurred when guarantee received from customers as customer account is debited instead of credited while using T -Code F-38. Please look into this let me know appropriate.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Siva.

    Hi,
Whenever you made an agreement with a vendor for the vendor to make the guarantee for you that transaction is displayed as a credit on the vendor account and on a special G/L account...
FI Enteries: Dr (Clearing of gurantees received) to Cr (Vendor or Guarantee Received account)
and vice versa for the customer....
FI Enteries: Dr (Customer or Guarantee Made account) to Cr (Clearing of Guarantees made)
    Hope dis would help you..

    Dear All,

    Hi
General Ledger Accounting (FI-GL) (New) The central task of G/L accounting is to provide a comprehensive picture of external accounting and accounts. Recording all business transactions (primary postings as well as settlements from internal accounting) in a software system that is fully integrated with all the other operational areas of a company ensures that the accounting data is always complete and accurate. Beyond fulfilling the legal requirements, General Ledger Accounting also fulfills other requirements for modern accounting: - Parallel Accounting General Ledger Accounting allows you to perform parallel accounting by managing several parallel ledgers for different accounting principles. - Integration of Legal and Management Reporting In General Ledger Accounting, you can perform internal management reporting in parallel with legal reporting. For this purpose, the Profit Center Accounting functions are integrated with General Ledger Accounting. Furthermore, you can generate financial statements for any dimension (such as profit center). - Segment Reporting General Ledger Accounting supports the segment reports required by the accounting principles IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). For this purpose, General Ledger Accounting contains the Segment dimension. - Cost of Sales Accounting You can perform cost of sales accounting in General Ledger Accounting. For this purpose, General Ledger Accounting contains the Functional Area dimension. Features General Ledger Accounting comprises the following functions for entering and evaluating posting data: - Choice between group level or company level - Automatic and simultaneous posting of all subledger items in the appropriate general ledger accounts (reconciliation accounts) - Simultaneous updating of the parallel general ledgers and of the cost accounting areas - Real-time evaluation of and reporting on current posting data, in the form of account displays, financial statements with different balance sheet versions, and additional analyses. In this way, General Ledger Accounting automatically serves as a complete record of all business transactions. It is the central and up-to-date component for reporting. Individual transactions can be checked at any time in real time by displaying the original documents, line items, and monthly debits and credits at various levels such as: - Account information - Journals - Totals/transaction figures - Balance sheet/profit and loss evaluations However, SAP still offers to choose between the New GL and the old Classic GL way of accounting. There are certain limitations in the new GL and clients are adopting to the new gl concept.

I have experience in intergrating project accounting to the general ledger in a data warehouse using discoverer to show the results.
The solution I developed for my compnay is to ensure all entries from all sub-ledgers including manual journal entries are moved to the data warehouse tables have project information based on PA autoaccounting rules.
The company I work for was interested in viewing reports that cubed cost centers (dept's.) to projects and to translate all entries (not just account balances) to USD for thier foriegn set of books. So, projects can be seen company wide in USD at lowest entry level. The solution I gave them solved the problem and they are able to view reports and evaluate costs by cost centers and projects on an enterprise wide application.
If this is what you are looking for let me know.

An automatic procedure for organizing line items in the document according to selected dimensions (such as organizing receivable lines by profit center). Moreover, you can effect a zero balance setting for selected dimensions (such as profit center or segment). The zero balance setting causes additional clearing lines to be generated on clearing accounts in the document after the document has been created.
For example, the document splitting procedure is necessary for drawing up financial statements for the selected dimensions.

  • GRC and New General Ledger

    Hi,
I have one very general question, which is not related to any specific

Do you see any connection between the SAP GRC products (e.g. Access Enforcer, Risk Management etc) and the "New General Ledger"?

  • Workflow issue with interco transactions & general ledger entries in F-02

    Hello Experts,
We are encountering a workflow issue when we are entering intercompany transactions with general ledger entries in F-02. Our workflow is set up with two release levels and the details are as follows:
Amount below $2500 - single release level
Amount above $2500 - two release levels
The document type that we are using is SU and it is configured with intercompany postings and trading partner enabled in the control data.
After parking a GL document that has interco amount entries below $2500 and general ledger amount entries above $2500 in F-02, the document is supposed to go to the two release levels in the workflow because the total amount is above $2500 (interco amount + general ledger amount > $2500). However, in the workflow, the document went to the single release level instead of the two release levels.
Any idea why the subledger amount takes precedent over the general ledger amounts in determining the workflow release level?
We would appreciate your help in solving this issue.

You cannot change the design of the system.
SAP may consider the change of design if all the users across the industries are reported. If a single user has a special requirement, it cannot be changed.
You need to ask, whether this is a critical requirement for your business. Otherwise, please follow the standard way.
