Spectre x360 with Windows 10 issues

I just got the Spectre x360 today (8/6/15). It has Windows 10 preinstalled, yet the option to rotate the screen in all of its positions is greyed out - I've seen the post about altering the registry and that kind of works. I have to say I am a bit taken back by how much work I've had to put into configuring this computer! I guess maybe its Windows 10, but I can't even seem to get Windows Live Mail (which I had to install because the new mail program doesn't let you leave copies of messages on the server?) to work. Apparently there is a conflict with Live Mail and the Intel Graphics drivers? All I know is I've spent close to 10 hours trying to get this thing to a point I can hand it to my techno-challenged boss, and from what I can see I have a long way to go... Seriously thinking that for the top dollar we paid for this, it should perform as advertised (rotate screen when closed and be able to use the touch keyboard in tablet mode). Mine sure doesn't. So if anyone has suggestions for the following, I would be very grateful...
Greyed out option for screen rotation and it is in the screen locked position.
Touch keyboard icon in lower right on the taskbar disappears when you enter tablet mode, making it impossible to type in any programs/windows. Even if you have the touch keyboard open and you enter laptop mode, it disappears.
Settings that I have applied revert back to default settings after restart. Example: I have configured my touchpad so that tapping is deactivated, but when my computer restarts, tapping is active.
I am really frustrated.

  • Can Anyone Help? Upgrade with Windows Issue

I bought my daughter a Ipod nano for Christmas this past year (2005). Everything worked great until the new 6.0 upgrade. We downloaded the upgrade last week and it was completed successfully. Yet when I go to my desktop and try to go to the site I get nothing at all. I can't even access the itunes site. Can't even access it through apple.com. I get the download message. I spent hours on the phone with apple trying to figure out the problem. Uninstalled and reinstalled the whole thing several times. Even went back to my original CD that came with the ipod and still get message that I need to upgrade. I was told
( by an apple rep) I have to do a msconfig start up on my computer for the upgrade to work on Windows. Upon doing that I can access my library but access to store is denied. I called apple again and was told they have no idea what is going on but it has to do with the upgrade and windows. I was basically told I may want to consider selling my Ipod, by a apple tech. Is anyone else having this problem. I just want to know how to get the upgrade using windows xp and be able to use it without having to msconfig start and then still not be able to access anything.
I have tried everything, from shutting down my firewall, anitvirus to rebooting my computer back to before I ever put Itunes in it since I was unable to un-install it with the add/remove on my computer.
Can anyone give me some advice on how to get this to work with windows? It would be greatly appreciated since I have a few friends also having the same issues. Thanks

Don't give up yet. At this point I would suggest cleaning your system with ipod and itunes software and reinstall. I know you tried this before but I'm going to give you more detailed instructions. Please read them carefully first before doing them and ask questions if you don't understand them. Also don't skip anything and be careful to not skip part of a step.
    1. Uninstall itunes and ipod software
    2. Reboot your PC
    3. Re-download the itunes installer and QT and save this installer to your desktop
    4. Go to C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Installations. You should see folders like {06EB3288-C5F4-4C73-8EEE-AC798668FF66}
    5. Look in each of these folders for itunes.msi and delete the folder. Be careful to only delete the folders containing itunes.msi
    6. Clean out your the following folders, Delete as much as you can in these folders except for the folders Cookies, History, Temporary Internet Files.
    a. C:\windows\temp (if one exists)
    b. C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Local Settings\Temp
Sometimes installers will pick up old files or won’t delete their temporary files.
    Also delete c:\program files\itunes & c:\program files\ipod
    7. Go to http://www.download.com/3000-2094-881470.html and download the regcleaner. Unpack it and run it. This is a nice utility that will delete broken registry entries and create a file with them. This way if it deletes anything needed you can add it back. Note I never had to do this with using it for many years. Also it doesn't list XP but you'll be fine. I run XP on both.
    8. Reboot your PC.
    9. It wouldn't hurt to scan your PC for viruses at this point.
    10. Now try to go and install everything again. I'd do QT first then follow with itunes. Remember to disable virus/firewall/privacy/web accelerators before launching the install.
You don't have to try the QT if you don't want to but if you do make sure you do it first before itunes and ipod software.
I hope this helps! Let me know what happens.

  • Spectre x360 battery charging issues

The exact same thing happened to me. I received a new adapter and power cord from HP, as my Spectre is only 5 weeks old. The new power cord and adapter didn't work and now my laptop won't even turn on. I wish I could help, but I have no idea what to do to fix my own laptop since it won't turn on.

Ditto Ditto I would be the third in this thread with exactly the same symptoms but no-one seems to have a response. Here's confirmation of what happened: 4 Apr 2015 Purchase 360 from HP in the UK - worked fabulously 30 Jul 2015 Upgraded to Windows 10 8 Aug 2015 Since upgrade, very light occassional use, maybe not even powered in as on holiday in Greece since the 1st Aug however I needed to sat down to do some work and laptop just switched off after a few hours of continuous use even though it was plugged in.  No low battery warning or anything.   After that would not switch on but I did some diagnosing focussed around the charger itself and listening to the charger brick, it made an unusual fast ticking sound - rather than the usual sort of hum you get from a transformer, perhas a relay gone mad so I assumed that the charger had failed.  I called HP support from Greece and they agreed with my assessment and quickly dispatched a replacement charger to my home.  The laptop could not be used any further till I got home. 16-Aug-2015 Got home and found the replacement charger waiting for me (well done HP for delivering so quickly) and I plugged it in and lo and behold, the laptop started working again so I immediately assumed that my diagnosis was correct and the charger was at fault BUT i did not notice if the power light came on on the side nor did I check the power settings or icons - I simply got on with some urgent work.   After about an hours use, the laptop suddenly stopped again.  No warning, just gone dead and would not turn on again.  I thought, not a second faulty charger so I listened to the brick and this time, it hummed as normal - not a ticking sound.   Also the level of hum stepped up when plugged into the laptop compared and hum down when you unplug the charger from the laptop.  No indication of a loose connection with the laptop but the little white power light refuses to come on.   But if the hum is changing, when plugged in, surely the laptop is still drawing power in its dead state causing the hum note to change (as you would expect).   But still it refuses to come back to life, even leaving it for a while.  I then had a thought and pulled out the old laptop charger and plugged it in - the laptop response remained the same - it would not turn on plus no white light.  I then listened to the brick - it hummed now as normal and comparably to the new charger - the ticking sound had gone. This leads me to conclude that perhaps there was nothing wrong with the charger originally - the ticking noise could be a red herring to do with the rather dubious Greek island electrics and wavering levels of AC current.  So maybe the problem is with the laptop itself and more interestingly with Windows 10 - the problems do start after its install as observed by the first poster above.   Did the Windows 10 upgrade do something to break the device drivers controlling the power so now the laptop does not know where it is.  Hence no warnings about power loss etc.?  Since I do not recall seeing anything in the systray about power ( I wish I checked and paid attention before beginning work), perhaps there is no power management but still the laptop is able to draw power to charge but does not know it has power to turn on?   Why did it turn on for an hour earlier today - it cant be a case of turning a device low on power on and off again as it would not last an hour or so?   Anyone got any other ideas?    I really need my laptop back as return to work tomorrow.

  • Mac print sharing with windows issue...

I set up a intel iMac to share its printer with a dell laptop. From what i can see in the printer's queue..all the jobs get sent from the laptop to the iMac; however, it doesn't print anything. It seems that windows is sending the print job and the iMac is receiving it but nothing is printing.
    what could be the solution?

I have a very similar problem....
I got a MAC PRO a couple of weeks ago and I have two USB printers (an EPSON CX 4200 and a CANON S900 connected to it).
I tried both Ifelix procedures to add the printers connected to the MAC and I had problems with both procedures.
If I try the http://mac-ip:631/printers/printer-name I am successful in adding the printer to the Laptop running windows XP however when I try to send something to that printer the job goes straight to the "completed" queue on the MAC.
I spent two hours with Apple support on the phone today and they could not figure out what was going on and suggested that I post my issue to this forum to see if anybody has any ideas.
I also tried to configure the printers using Bonjour (as per Ifelix method) but at some point during the printer setup I get an error message indicating that I do not have "sufficient access" to install the printer driver even though I am logged in as admin on the windows XP computer.
Has abybody experienced similar pain? Is anybody here being able to print to printers connected to a MAC PRO from a Windows XP laptop?
I should also say that my computers are in a network and both are connected to a Linksys Wireless Access point/router.
The Laptop is a wireless laptop and the mac pro is conneced to the linksys router via a regular network cable.
Also, I have no issues printing straight from the mac to both printers.
    Would appreciate any suggestions/comments.
Thanks in advance for your time.
    regards,

  • Spectre X360 Screen rotation

Hi, I recently bought spectre X360 with windows 10, but the screen rotation is not working in tent and tablet mode.I have been trying to get a solution for this in display settings but Lock rotation of this display is ON and disabled. Therefore I cant even change it. Please let me know how to enable screen rotation.

I bought this laptop about 3 weeks ago. When running windows 8.1 the screen did rotate into portrait mode when turned, but only when the laptop was in the tablet formfactor. As long as the keyboard was still on, it would only flip 180 and not got into portrait mode.  Now that i am on win 10 i have the same issue as the OP. I applied the registry setting and the screen does rotate, but it does it in laptop and tablet mode (i am speaking of the physical mode, not the win 10 tablet mode). I dont like that it does it in laptop mode, but its better than nothing. I would like to see an official fix that also ungreyed the option as well.

  • HP Spectre x360 13-4002dx active pen and other issues

Hi, I'm havng issues with my active pen, but wasn't sure if it's an issue with my laptop or stylus (or if it's a software/driver issue). Is there an easy way to tell? Also, I've been using my laptop for a month now, and recently have had other issues, listed below. I wrote them down below in case that could provide some information, and/or if those issues are something I should be concerned about and should try to fix. To begin with, after doing some research, I bought a Synaptic active stylus (the Dell one), which worked very well for the first two weeks until last week. All of a sudden, it started to respond very awkward and randomly, sometimes it's too sensitive and draw lines even when the pen was off the screen, and sometimes it didn't draw anything at all even though I see the small circle following my pen tip. I initially thought it was due to low battery, but it's the same issue after I replaced the battery. Right now, the laptop doesn't respond to pen touching the screen (no clicks, no writings), although the pointer follows the pen. Any ideas on how to resolve this issue? How do I know if it's the pen that is faulty or if it's the laptop? Other issues I had or am having:1. Today, I had a BAD_POOL_HEADER error and blue screen of death. After reboot, everything seems to still work, but the login is now much slower. It's very fast to reach to the login screen, but it takes 2-3 minutes to bring up the desktop and other startup applications after I enter my password (I think it used to take less than 10 seconds). I tried rebooting 2-3 times, and it was always the same. 2. The laptop seems to gain heat very easily. With moderate workload (example, some websites with flash advertisements or videos), it can easily go above 70 degrees Celsius on either core (according to CPUID HWMonitor). One time, the system actually failed and forced hibernated due to overheating. (To me, the screen went blank all of a sudden. I turn the laptop back on, and the screen printed a message for a while saying it forced shutdown due to overheating. I realized it was hibernation after I logged in since I see all my windows) 3. On the second day of use of this laptop, the laptop just shutdown for no good reason, and then couldn't boot, saying it cannot find boot image or something like that. I looked up the web and found that it could be a BIOS issue. It said to try reseting the BIOS setting, and then it worked. I also upgraded the BIOS image to the latest after this incident. 4. This is probably more a router issue, but I initially had problems connecting wireless to my router. It was solved after changing my router. For those who are interested, the details is as the following: my old router supported up to 802.11n , but not 802.11ac, That shouldn't matter, but all wireless connections get disconnected once in every several hours if my HP Spectre x360 is trying to use the wireless. However the wired connections stayed ok when this happens, so the router is only "partially" killed. The fact that all wireless connections are getting killed seemed to me that the router didn't like something from my HP laptop. To be fair, I didn't try not using my HP laptop to see if the issue goes away, so it could be  a coincidence that the router started to go faulty at the same time I bought and used my HP laptop. Anyways, it seemed it's a router issue, so after replacing the router. the issue went away. Thanks.

Will investigate and let you know what I can find out.

  • Spectre x360 (13-4101dx) Synaptics Touchpad Issue

Hello, I just bought a new Spectre x360 (13-4101dx, pre-loaded with Windows 10) and I'm having issues with the Synaptics touchpad. After a Windows update, the driver was updated to version 19.0.12.95.  I have reverse scrolling disabled but for some applications, the two finger scrolling is still reversed. Applications like Google Chrome and Device Manager work fine, the reverse scrolling is disabled. However, for applications like Windows settings, Microsoft Edge, and pretty much everything Windows-related, it seems to be permanently reversed. Also, every time I restart my laptop, all of the settings are reverted back to default. Now, on my HP Envy 15-j000, I have the same driver (19.0.12.95) and I don't face the same issues with reverse scrolling being "permanent" on Windows-related applications. However, the settings do still reset itself after every reboot. How can I fix this? Will Synaptics be releasing a fixed driver for this or am I just missing something? I absolutely hate reverse scrolling and only a small handful of my applications actually run with it disabled...

I have this same issue with my HP OMEN using driver 19.0.12.95, windows update says this is the latest driver. Scrolling remains inverted in some apps/settings.  I fixed this issue by reverting to an older driver (18.1.30.2), scrolling is now uniform. Kinda annoying that I had to fix it this way, but I had to go the HP Omen driver/support page and download the driver for the synaptics touchpad (even though HP's website insists you use Windows update for Windows 10). I then had to install the old driver, go into device manager and roll back the driver to 18.1.30.2 - you have to do this otherwise Win 10 will just use the latest driver. After that you can change the setting in the synaptics clickpad settings and it will be uniform. This was what worked for me.

  • HP Spectre x360 ssd upgrade wont boot to WIndows 10

Hey I just replaced the 128gb SSD on the HP Spectre  x360 I recieved at this years Build conference with a 256GB Hyperx Predator M.2 240Gb SSD.  By fiddeling with the boot order I was able to get it to boot off the Windows 10 Install USB key I made and install Windows 10. Ive formatted it and WIndows 10 installed fine however when the computer reboots it comes up with: Boot Device Not FoundPlease install an operating system on your hard drive Ive tried various changes to the boot order, enabling/disabling secure boot and Legacy support with no success.  Any ideas about how to get the new ssd to boot? Thanks Bryan

Ok I fixed it! What I was doing was: In Windows setup, finding the drive, formatting it and then installing Windows - computer wouldnt boot What I did to fix it! Deleting all the partitions so that there was just one partition with unallocated space and installing Windows on that. I thought you had to format the partiton first, but it appears WIndows setup will do this itself Bryan

  • Spectre x360 keyboard issue after recent bios update

Hi Folks,    I have a spectre X360 and I am really happy with it.  Great product.  I recently updated the bios and it was really nice to be rid of the glowing keyboard light LED. There is an issue that has popped up though which is incredibly frustrating, like incredibly annoying, and I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this.  The keyboard response to typing a double letter (such as the t in letter) has gone down.  In other words my typing speed is now limited because the keyboard isn't as sensitive as it was prior to the bios update.  Does anyone know of a setting somewhere where I can increase the sensitivity of the keyboard so I'm not constantly going back to correct a missing double letter?  Please! argh it sucks so bad.  It has ruined my experience with this machine.  -Sam

    Hello  ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community!
I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Spectre x360 and TouchPad sensitivities not working correctly. Here is a document on how to troubleshoot the Touchpad sensitivities.
If you will go to the section on Adjusting TouchPad pointing sensitivities it should help resolve the issue. It also shows you how to restore the default setting that could help as well.
    Hope this fixes your issue.
    Thanks.

  • Ipod sync issues with Windows 7

I just purchased a new computer with the Windows 7 operating softeware and now I cannot sync my Ipod Touch (3rd generation) but I do not experience this issue with my old computer with Windows Vista.  When I need to update my Ipod I have to connect it to my old computer.  Help.  I do not want to pay Apple for support when I see countless post about this issue.

    Diane Wordsmith wrote:
Are you set to manually manage on both computers? If not, an auto sync on one of them will erase the iPod and place that computer's library on it.
No that wouldn't be it. The manual vs. Auto sync setting is stored on the iPod, not on iTunes. So if you take a manually managed iPod and plug it into an iTunes it has never connected to before, the new iTunes will still recognize the iPod as manually managed and not do anything bad to it (in theory).

  • Driver issue with Windows 8.1 on new iMac 2013

Just got a brand new iMac and am attempting to install Windows 8.1 on it. The Boot Camp Assistant kept timing out on the support software download so I downloaded Boot Camp 5.0.5033 from Apple support and put that on my external FAT drive.
I was able to get Windows installed, but when I attempted to run setup.exe off of my external drive, I got a "Boot Camp x64 is unsupported on this computer model" error. I was able to work around this by running bootcamp.msi from a DOS prompt in administrator mode at which point the install seemed to go through successfully.
Despite that, I'm still getting no love on WiFI, bluetooth, audio, etc. I'm attempting to download again through Boot Camp Assistant on the hope that there's a later version for my machine that's not yet available for direct download but am not optimistic.
Any thoughts/ideas would be great appreciated. Note that I am running the latest everything on the Mac side (recent 10.8.5 Combo).
    Thanks in advance.

Actually, that link is exactly what got me in trouble. Use Boot Camp Assistant to get the drivers.
As of this writing, Boot Camp 5.0.5033 will not adequately set up your drivers on a new iMac with Windows 8.1.
The only way I was able to get the WiFi working was to use the drivers automatically downloaded by Boot Camp Assistant. Presmably this is a newer version than 5.0.5033 but I haven't been able to find it anywhere else for download.
I should also note that I was having some DirectX issues running graphics intensive software even after updating through Boot Camp Assistant. These were resolved by downloading the latest driver for my video card (GeForce 780M). There might be other issues that will require a manual driver update but I've yet to run into any more.
    Best of luck.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS.I've never had this problem before... today I opened iTunes and it prompted me to download the newest version.  I use iTunes all the time and have updated it multiple times with no issues.  During the installation process it gave me an error message that said:
    Runtime error!
    Program C:\Program Files\iTunes.exe
    R0634
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I quit the installation, uninstalled iTunes and rebooted my computer.  I now receive a similar message with a slight difference:
    Runtime error!
    Program C:\Program Files (x86)...
    R0634
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I did not leave anything out from the error message.  It doesn't point to a specific file, it just ends with "(x86)..."  Every time I boot up my computer, this error message pops up on my desktop.
How do I repair this issue?  I have found multiple suggested solutions but am unsure which one is the best, and I don't want to try a bunch of different things for fear I may make the problem worse.  I would like to try and fix this myself if possible but I need to know if that is really possible or if I need to take my computer to someone for repairs.  Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!

    Hi lustyln,
I'm having a little trouble understanding all of what you are trying to explain. From what I can tell, it sounds like your PC has a lot of software problems and you want to know what is supposed to be there and what isn't.
For reference, here are your product specifications:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c01893242&lc=en&product=4043282
To get your PC software back to how it was when it was first purchased, run a system recovery:

    I hope this helps.

The usual command for opening windows with bootcamp doesnt work. once in restarted my computer after it froze and it rebooted in windows automatically. i really just want to know if there is a way to take the upgrade off my laptop because it is very annoying.

    Hi Memalyn
Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.

  • Home Sharing issues with Windows PCs

I've had an Apple TV2 for over a year.  It has been working fine with no issues at all.  I use an old laptop running WinXP as my "media server" and it has worked fine up until the last few of months.
Progressively, over the last 2-4 months it has become less reliable when trying to access content on iTunes on it.  The laptop itself has otherwise been reliable.  It is just the Apple TV talking to it that has been not.  Sometimes it works fine, other times as I go through the menus I get 'Loading "library"...' for up to a couple of minutes and it then drops out.
The first time it started becoming unreliable was shortly after a Windows Update.  I rolled back the update with System Restore and it went back to working well.  I didn't have another problem until I applied the latest set of Windows Updates (a month or so later, hoping the issues had been fixed).  Again, it broke, so I rolled back.  Last week after it has been running well, Windows crashed and when it recovered AppleTV/iTunes wasn't working again.  I tried applying Windows Updates again.  No luck.  I rolled back to before the crash.  No luck. I tried updating to iTunes 10.6.  No luck.  I uninstalled iTunes (and all the other Apple software) and reinstalled.  It was still flakey. Disabling the firewall makes no difference.
I then blew the whole machine away, restored to factory configuration, and installed iTunes again.  It is still unreliable.
I have MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.8 and iTunes 10.6.  It works with the Apple TV with no problems at all.  All my content plays fine. So I don't believe it is my Apple TV or the network.  (All three devices, Apple TV, MBP and Windows laptop are on a wired Ethernet network 100Mbps.)
I just installed iTunes on my Acer Netbook which is running Windows 7 Starter and it has the same unreliability issues as the laptop.
These seems to suggest it is an iTunes/Windows problem – but why am I the only one?
I should add that I can play some content on the Apple TV from either the laptop or the netbook.  It might work the first time, even the second time but eventually it just fails. For example, last night we started to watch something on the Apple TV from the library on the WinXP laptop.  It played fine for the first 4 minutes and then it just dropped out.
It doesn't matter what content I try.  Sometime music works, sometimes it doesn't.  Sometimes iTunes purchased TV shows or movies work, sometimes they don't. Sometimes home made content (FCP X) works, sometimes it doesn't.
Additionally, the laptop and netbook show up in the SHARED area of iTunes on the MBP.  I see similar results form there. I can sometimes connect to the laptop or netbook and play content but eventually it fails and the device disappears from SHARED.  It eventually comes back, though.
Interestingly, iTunes on the laptop and the netbook don't show any other SHARED devices, even though I have "Share Libraries" ticked in preferences on all three. I also don't see the Apple TV sharing icon on iTunes on the laptop or netbook but I do see it on the MBP (and my iPod and iPad).
I also have a Windows 7 64-bit laptop and I installed 64-bit iTunes 10.6 on it, but I can't even log into the iTunes store form it (unknown error 0x80092013) which appears to be a common problem of late.
I have tried everything I can think of to get it working and am hoping someone might have some ideas on how to debug the issues.

Solved - at least all good so far.
I had to add rules to my firewall software (Symantec Endpoint Protection) for Bonjour (UDP 5353) and DAAP (TCP 3689).  Once I did that, the other librares were shown in SHARING and the Apple TV reliably connects.
What I don't understand was why it worked at all without the rules in place.

  • Ideapad Yoga 11 with Windows RT - Issues

Got my orange Yoga 11 with Windows RT a few days ago here in the UK, and I have to say that initial impressions are very good. No fan at all, barely gets wam, switches on from connected standby almost instantly, and battery life is really impressive. Build quality seems solid - no peeling paintwork, and keyboard is securely fastened, screen is great quality, there's some backlight bleed on the right side, but only visible when at 100% against a black background (i.e. never). There's a bit more flex and 'give' in the screen than I expected, but nothing I can't live with. Wifi signal is also strong and connections don't drop like others are seeing with the Yoga 13.
So, Windows RT ... still getting used to it, but here are some initial niggles:  there only appears to be one Lenovo RT settings app available in the Store, and it's fairly useless, since all it does is provide a switch to lock/unlock keyboard in different orientations (why?). No Lenovo drivers are available from here either, I guess these all come from Windows Update for the RT model instead?
The problems I'm having stem from not being able to tweak some system & hardware settings properly because of the above and the need to rely on stock driiver configs, specifically:
    - Keyboard: it can be quite sluggish, and doesn't register repeat letters very well (like in 'tell' or 'soon') at my typing speed. I've never experienced this with any keyboard, nevermind a Lenovo one. The stock keyboard config under Control Panel does nothing to help this - changing the two options for Repeat delay/Repeat rate just make it worse. This is quite annoying, as I really have to slow down my typing speed to get any work done. It would currently be my no. 1 reason for returning it, depending on how I get on with it this week.
    - Touchpad: no options are available to configure it that I can find. No tweaking multi-touch, like 2-finger scroll direction (which is reversed from the normal setting). It can also be very sluggish to respond sometimes, especially for pinch to zoom and similar gestures.
    - Bluetooth: allthough I can pair with e.g. Jamboxes fine enough, the connection is dreadful - constantly skipping and dropping out with any audio source, basically unusable.  The Jamboxes work fine with every other device I own. Again no settings I can tweak here beyond the installation options, and no way to debug the problem.
Any help or advice with these niggles would be much appreciated, especially the keyboard issue.

Just to add a few more passing thoughts to this monlogue for anyone who may be thinking of buying this model instead of the 13.
When it comes to Windows RT I'm finding myself more surprised every day by what I *can* rather than *can't* do with it.  Partly this is because I thought it would be something closer to a gimped Android or iOS experience.  Here are some things I didn't really expect to be available or usable, and that compare very well to those other OSes:
    - Remote Desktop (& RemoteApps): this really works very nicely, so far if I need quick access to a non-RT app it's a doddle to remote login to a W7 machine. I was expecting this to be too slow to be practical, but actually it's very smooth, and no need to install a separate app (although the Store has a Metro version to complement the desktop UI).
    - Windows Firewall with Advanced Security: I was expecting something dumbed-down, but this is the fully monty, completely configurable when you need it, otherwise less in your face than with W7. The same goes for Windows Defender, also included as standard.
    - Local Group Policy: I'm still surprised this is included, given that it otherwise only comes with W8 Pro.
    - Bitlocker: encrypts your drive by default OOB, no need to manage it at all.
    - Network browsing & sharing: really it's just a doddle to set up, using HomeGroup or just browsing the local network, access to all your network files OOB without installing any apps.
    - PlayTo: again, painless to set up and use, streaming all your media to DLNA devices.
    - Flash support, works just fine, and easy enough to add 'supported' sites to the list.
    - Explorer / File History / Disk management, really the whole suite is there without sandboxing or more apps needed for handling basic tasks.  So refreshing after iOS especially.
    - Admin tools / Powershell: the list of is impressive - full Task Manager, Event Viewer & Performance Monitor all included - and I was delighted to find Powershell in there too, especially since it's finally integrated into Explorer properly. Such a great, under-rated utility!
    - Media support: although I do miss a desktop media player with previews in Explorer, and better codec management, I was surprised by how quickly devs are stepping up to support different media types. Free apps already support mkvs and the like, and a VLC port is planned. I'm optimistic that this will get better.
So basically, once you get past the point of accepting that you can't install legacy desktop programs or drivers, it's pretty much a solid Windows experience. I think the keyboard & typing speed is now my only major issue ... but I've almost convinced myself I can live with it so probably won't be returning it.
    Thanks for listening.
