Spectrogram from freq-domain magnitude, phase?

I have complex frequency-domain data that I would like to use to make a spectrogram (energy vs freq and time). The frequency-domain spectrum is evenly sampled with respect to angular frequency, and contains both magnitude and phase information. I also already have a program that calculates the complex time-domain waveform for the data. Is there a way to generate the spectrogram of these data, either by using a combination of built-in functions, or some other method?
I have looked into using the built-in spectrogram function for this problem, but it seems to deal only with real data, and to assume that the given data is in the time domain. It also doesn't seem to take a scale along with the amplitude values it reads... in this case, how can it properly display the time and frequency scales?
Since I already have the phase of each frequency within my data, I think it should be possible to translate phase into time delay. I'm just having trouble figuring out how to actually do this. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

As you mentioned, currently the WVD Spectrogram.vi doesn't support complex math. But the good news is that the vi is open source so you can edit it as you see fit. I think this is probably a great product suggestion and encourage you to visit the Product Suggestion Center. Thanks for your feedback!

Generate an XML file from a DOM tree

Hi,
I'm trying to generate an XML file from a DOM tree that I obtained from another XML file with the Xerces library. I used the following operation :

But if I try on Linux (every distribution does the same thing), I obtain an XML file where everything is written on just ONE LINE : there is neither identation nor carriage return at the end of a line ... And that is pretty annoying 'cause I need to SEE what I generate ...

Actually I would think that no indents and no new-lines would be more correct, but maybe it's an option for parsers to do it either way if you don't specify it. If you want to specify it, look at this post from last month:

Nullpointer exception while multiple users reading from XML DOM object

We are getting a null pointer exception when we are trying to read from a Static XML DOM object . We are getting the exception in weblogic 7.1 very rarely but started getting the exception in weblogic 9.2 more frequently. When multiple users are trying to access the Static variable we are getting null pointer exception. I think it is a memory related issue. Making the whole method synchronized is resolving the issue. But that is not the right thing to do. Can any one know what might be the issue here?
I am giving the code and the XML. I have tried to give the latest Xerces parser from the Apache site but got the same exception. Please help me in this regard.

How to load data from XML DOM into tables using Business Components

I need to upload XML file (it's not a problem) an load data (DOM tree) from this file into relationan tables. This filelooks like this:

Is there any Business Components support to obtain this ? What about primary and foreign keys values (there is no in XML file). How to place this XML data in appropriate tables ?

Problems generating PDF from FO DOM with SVG in code.

Colleagues,
I am using FOP 0.20.5rc to render an FO DOM I have in a javax.xml.transform.dom.DOMResult into a PDF output stream destined ultimately for an attachment to an email. The FO DOM contains SVG generated from a JPEG image.
If dump the FO DOM to a file and then generate the PDF using FOP from the command line I get the image in the document.
If I pass the FO DOM to a FOP Driver in code I get the document but no image!
I'm obviously missing some vital configuration option in code but for the life of me I can't see it.
Any help would be gratefully received,

I would like to create a DOM tree by using nodes from an existing DOM. How can I do that? I tried with appendChild and it gaves me as error: "WRONG_DOCUMENT_ERR".

i parsed XML to get the DOM and then i edited the dom now how do i get the new XML back from the edited DOM ?????????

It's not nearly as straight-forward as it should be, but check out the javax.xml.transform package (assuming you're using JDK 1.4).
I think Xerces has simpler methods for doing this, but I wrote my own serializer class ages ago, and tend to use that.

How to copy a node from one dom document to another?

I have one dom document that I have to split up into multiple dom documents. I am able to get the inividual nodes that I want to put into seperate documents.
My problem occurs when I create a new dom document and try to add the node from the parent document. I get an exception saying (copied from api: WRONG_DOCUMENT_ERR: Raised if newChild was created from a different document than the one that created this node. )
How can I make it so that I can copy a node from one document and add it to another.

Have you checked out the API called importNode in the DOM Document. It lets you move nodes between different documents.
This api lets you simply copy the existing node from one document into another. without creating any new nodes for it.
I have done a small example please have a look.

How to write into file from xml dom Object

I try to transform my xml DOM document object into
file. I try the following:

}With this code, if an exception occurs then you are guaranteed to know nothing about it. At the minimum do this:} catch (TransformerConfigurationException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
} catch (TransformerException e) {
e.printStackTrace();

How to get Line number from a DOM Element

I am using dom xerces parser. Is there anyway to work out which line number a element will be when it is outputted into a file ??

org.w3c.dom.DOMLocator method getLineNumber() returns the line number at which an error occurs.
A corrresponding method for file output is not defined.

Writting a XML file from a DOM with the reference to a DTD

how can I write a XML file, that has a reference to a DTD like:

I have a DOM that contains my XML-Data and I want to have this line in the XML File. I'm using a Transformer to write this XML stuff in the file.

Getting the absolute text position from a DOM tree

Does anybody knows how to get the absolute text position of a node inside the DOM tree? Is there any DOM implementation that keep track of the absolute text position of each Node element or I need to overload somo methods by hand?

The position() function in XSLT returns the order of the element.
For an xml document with elements:

How can I make a spectrogram from a soundwaveform using the intensity chart function?

I want to make a spectrogram for a sound waveform where the x-axis is time, the y-axis is frequency, and the intensity is amplitude. I performed a DFT on the sound waveform, then used it as an input to the intensity chart function. Every time I run my program the x-axis has a scale from 0 to 1 sec, when my sound is longer. The y-axis doesn't give me the same range of frequencies as the DFT. The intensity scale is correct. Can anyone suggest another approach? The labview example did not help since I'm not generating an array and creating the intensity chart at the same time.

You could probably use a 3D surface graph.
I am including an attachment to show you what I mean. This example program is available here. I just made a few modifications to make it look as an intensity graph:
1. By right clicking on the graph and going to CWGraph3D >> Properties and selecting the Grid Planes tab in the Graph tab, I unchecked the grids, to show just the graph. Then, I went to the 3D tab in the Graph tab, and selected Towards X-Y Plane in the View Direction section. Click OK.
2. Then, I right clicked on the graph again and went to Advanced >> Enabled State and selected Disabled, so
that the user cannot change the orientation any more.
You can build your own plot using time and frequency as X & Y, and the amplitude will give you the color. You only need to adjust the orientation so that you can see it from �the top� and it looks like an intensity plot.

Read velocity from QUAD-510 using single phase sensor

Hello, for my application I'm using a proximity sensor to count pulses using the CTR-400. To obtain velocity, I can make some calculations based on frequency or period but I was wondering if I can delegate this annoying task to the QUAD-510 module At the moment I'm able to read velocity using an encoder, but what if I use a single phase sensor like a proximity?
