Spotlight won't work iPad 2

Since upgrade Spotlight won't work. I know how it is supposed to work as it does fine on iPhone 5. Settings have all checked. I've restarted ands till no Spotlight. Ideas?

try this
Reboot device by pressing both the home button and sleep/wake (power) buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings (or for network connection issues 'reset network settings').
(no media or data will be deleted from the device, this will only take a minute).

My spotlight search won't work in full screen apps. When pressing cmd+space the mac error tone sounds. I'm pretty sure thats not how it's suppose to be. How can I fix this?

is this happening in multiple applications, or just one? If it's just one then the cmd+space shortcut may be reserved for another funtion.

Spotlight won't work without restarting MBPr

I just picked up my new 13" MBPr a couple of weeks ago. I love it, but I am finding that after one use, Spotlight won't bring up the search function unless I restart the computer. This surprised me as I've had macs for over a decade and have never run into issues like this. I also found that while trying to post this message using Safari, the field for writing this message would not display a cursor (or any of the text editing options like font size/style) so I am using an alternative broswer.
I've seen a few posts about Mavericks mucking up Spotlight functions before, so should I chalk the search issue up to that or is there something else to investigate?

Spotlight won't work with 10.4.3

Just installed 10.4.3 with software update. The spotlight icon top righthand of desktop is visible but is inactive. Click on it and nothing happens. Likewise with date/time icons and speaker icon. Have repaired permissions. Any suggestions? Thanks in anticipation.

Since posting I've got all the screen icons mentioned before working by fooling around with preferences, but not spotlight. Can open it manually with option/command/space and it works fine, but screen icon still won't activate.

Spotlight won't work after clean install

I did a clean install of a 10-seat licence of 10.5 server on the primary partition of a Mac Mini. Logged in with the admin account (the only account), I cannot get Spotlight to find anything at all (even searching for something that it should find, like "Safari" just gets me "No Results Found").
I've done software updates, re-booted, and repaired permissions. Any ideas?
(On a side-note, I'm trying to find where the Weblog server stores media files; so if anyone can tell me that I'd appreciate it).

I can't believe it , I've finally got Leopard on my brand new iMac, which was supposed to come with it pre-installed! A friend who has Leapord came over and saw my screen and icons and said, 'that doesn't look like Leopard, you should reinstall.' We did, and now everything works great (including printer, Bluetooth A2DP and Spotlight, which hadn't been working prior). Airport works, too, but it was working before thanks to the WPA fix. Somehow my Intel iMac, purchased in December from the San Francisco/Marina Mac Store, came with a faulty OS installation. I wasted soooo much time trying to fix it when I just needed to reinstall (w/o erasing my HD). Maybe this can help others having similar problems. Happy Mac-ing!

Try this.
Close the camera app completely and reboot the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

Spotlight won't search the Internet on iOS 8.0.2

Apple said said that spotlight can now show the Internet search things directly below the spotlight bar. I know that feature has to be activated in settings but I did that and it still doesn't work! I mean I click on it, the tick thing shows, I exit from settings, try spotlight (won't work), go back to settings and the "bing search" (or whatever it's called) is not marked/ticked! I though that Apple fixed it on the newest update.

The screen accidentally returned to normal size, so I must have tapped with the right number of fingers the right number of times I my desparation! I went and turned the zoom off. Thanks for the info.

This has nothing to do with iPhoto. When I have this type of problem I call tech support for my email service. They probably are the only source of the correct settings

Since the iOS7 update on my iPad 2, I am having trouble charging it if it runs all the way down, and now, my Safari won't work at all, and it locks up when I click on Safari in the Setting section. I have tried restoring, and Safari still does not work??

I cannot reset the Ipad either, Safari won't work, and it won't charge properly if the battery runs all the way down...

Thanks for that. Much more constructive than the last comment. It's only the restriction code I can't recall, not the access passcode. So I can currently access the device, just not age restricted content. Does that's make a difference? I also wondered if anyone knew how many attempts you get to try to get it right. Now tried 21 times and so far nothing bad has happened but I am concerned I'll eventually be completely locked out of the device. That doesn't seem in the spirit of things though. Surely it's foreseeable that a child could repeatedly try to guess the code so I can't see that it would be right to lock the device down completely in that circumstance, particularly if the access code is being typed in correctly every time.

I assume it's the Video app that now won't work at all - if it's the iPad then try the second option below.
Have you tried closing the Videos app completely ? From the home screen (i.e. not with the Videos app 'open' on-screen)double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Videos app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Why is it that each time I upgrade my iPad, half of my apps won't work properly but worst of all my email won't send after the latest "patch" today, wake up Apple I am a new user and getting sick of this problems

WHy is it that each time I get an upgrade some of my Apps won't work when they did with the previous version. I have just upgraded to v7.01 and now I cannot send email, wake up Apple and get it right as I am a new user of Apple technology and not impressed.

That's one of the weird things.. it recognizes it maybe 10% of the time. And usually, only after I do the two-button reset. Problem is.. since it won't charge above 2%, anytime I try to do a restore or anything like that using iTunes, my device shuts off and I lose whatever progress I'd made.
So, an update... after reading through a bunch of similar complaints (there are literally 1000's of them so there's NO WAY this isn't somehow ios7 related, thanks a lot APPLE ) I decided to try a restore in recovery mode. After 3 hours and several disconnections... I ended up having to just set it up as a new iPad, as the restore did nothing. Weirdly though... as I was doing the restore in recovery mode.. I noticed I'd gotten up to a 10% charge.. higher than it's been since September, so after setting it up as a new device, I turned it off and plugged it in using the wall charger. 2 hours later and I was up to 38%. Still not great, as my iPad, before ios7 could've fully charged twice in the amount of time it took for me to now get 28% more of a charge. And that's with a fully cleaned out device.. so that really ***** and I'm now more confused than ever.
But I'm gonna leave it overnight charging and see what I come up with tomorrow. Sadly, when I paid $600 for it in February, I never expected to have to play "wait and see" with it...

The videos all work fine for me. The functioning and performance of these videos have nothing to do with Adobe.
When problems with video appear they often are related to temporary Internet slowdowns or just poor Internet bandwidth.

My iPad connection kit won't work properly, the SD card part isn't working at all...... I plug it into my iPad all it says is "Cannot Use Device: The connected USB device requires too much power." I have tried putting the SD card into my MacBook and tried reading it by DCIM, tried reading it again with out the case on. But it still doesn't work, can someone please help me???

Try resetting your iPad. HOld down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.
Beyond that, what kind of card are you using? As in 32 gig SDHC or 64 gig SDXC or whatever.
If you're using an XC card that could be the issue because the CCK doesn't read XC cards.

I also can no longer view any Youtube clips, since installing iso6, and it is driving me to frustration! Not only is the Youtube app gone, but safari wont let me view Youtube clips because my device doesn't support adobe, and when I use google, it says the same. I installed Jasmine, and that one keeps saying "Youtube have restricted feeds of this video" which means I can't use that one either! I installed the Youtube app for iPhone, but the screen is far too small.
I have purchased 3 iPads for my household. Unfortunately, I updated 2 of them with ios 6, but thankfully I didnt instal it on the 3rd one. I will have to use my old brick laptop, because my ipad no longer functions the way I need it to. What a complete waste of money!
