Spring advantages in a new oracle homogeneous application

I see that Oracle provide a Spring developer kit to integrate Java application in the Spring framework.
What advantages/disadvantages Spring provides in a homogeneous Oracle platform like these (in 11g):
1) Oracle database, pl/sql, Oracle ADF BC, Oracle ADF Faces with data controls
2) Oracle database, Oracle ADF BC, Oracle ADF Faces with data controls
3) Oracle database, Top Link JPA, EJB, Oracle ADF Faces with data controls
4) Oracle database, Top Link JPA, Top Link POJO, Oracle ADF Faces with data controls
I see only real one : Labelized the application with Spring ...
Do you agree with this ?

Hi,
Spring can be used as a binding layer to persistent stores like Hibernate, for which JDeveloper does not provide support. Using ADF Business Components there isn't really a benefit I see because you already have a persistence layer.
Spring is a popular open source project that acts as a binding between the client layer and the persistence layer, ensuring a consistent API. So I would look at it as a separate framework, not something I would see a must to integrate within ADF

  • New Oracle ADF Application.

    Hi
I installed wls1035_oepe111172_win32.exe on my local machine in new directory.
Next I created base_domain and admin console works OK. WebLogic Server Version: 10.3.5.0
In “Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse” I try to create New -> Oracle ADF Application.
During this process I had to create “New Runtime”.
After this I received message :
” Target runtime is not valid; must be WLS 11gR1 PS3 (or greater) with ADF extension.”
Separately I installed ADF and result is the same.
I am afraid that in wls1035_oepe111172_win32.exe installation “Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse” doesn’t recognize that WebLogic Server Version: 10.3.5.0 is greater than WLS 11gR1 PS3.
How I can solve this problem?
Is this my fault or instalation inconsistence ?
    Please help.

    Hi,
I just realized that the installer you were referring to is not the same as the one I used in my test.
The error message you are seeing is due to the fact that the Application Development Runtime is not installed as part of the wls1035_oepe111172_win32.exe.
In order to workaround the issue please download the 11.1.1.5 Application Development Runtime from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/downloads/index.html and install into the wls home where you installed wls1035_oepe111172_win32.exe.
Once this is complete, you should be able to create an ADF application without any issues.
    Thanks

  • Steps to create a new Oracle Application server

I am in unfamiliar territory and need to create a new Oracle Application Server. I would appreciate any direction or direction to documentation that explains the steps required to establish a new server. Thanks.

    William,
Have you looked at the Portal section on OTN? We recently added a whole bunch of information under the documentation section.
It can be found by clicking on Internet Servers under the Products heading on the left hand navigation bar. That page will have a section for Oracle9i Application Server and under that you will see Related Features & Products where there is a link to Portal.

    Hi,
have you already noticed, the new Oracle ACE web-page where you can search and view the profile of the ACE's is an Oracle APEX application!

Nice to see John's book mentioned on the front page.

  • Inquiry about oracle Fusion Application(New Oracle ERP product) and ADF

Please i want to know what the java technology oracle fusion application is developed by,java ADF or another?!
and about ADF ?how i can build my approval process for specific transaction ?!is it any tools for that integrated with ADF ?!
    Thanks in advance

For human approval process you might want to look into Oracle BPM and the Human workflow engine that it offers - it is well integrated with Oracle ADF as the UI layer for the managers.

  • Calling Java screens from Oracle Forms application

I am working with a client that has a large Oracle forms application. Since rewriting the entire application in Java is not an option at this time, the strategic direction is that any new modules that are to be created for the application are to be done in Java and called from the Forms menu. The decision as to what tool to use to develop the Java modules is still under debate. What is the best (most seamless) way to do this...calling a Java screen from a Forms application? If anyone has any experience in this, or can direct me to some literature on it, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This is a web app in Forms/Reports 10g R2 running off Oracle AS and an Oracle db. The challenge for us is that the direction is that any new enhancements (screens) are to be built using Java (in either ADF Faces or Swing, another point for debate later) and then called from the Forms app. The business client is only paying for the enhancement. They don't care about moving off Forms to Java, so any extra work on the part of IT to do this, has to be fairly minimal and doable within the project budget. The movement to Java is an IT direction. Is there a way to do this without having to build a java framework for the entire Forms application (which I assume would take some time and involve retesting the entire app)?

  • Advantages of using labview in embedded application when compared to c ?

    Hello all,
I am looking to develop embedded application with help of labview programming
    Started with Lm3s8962 evaluation board.
So i would like to know
1 Advantages of using labview in embedded application when compared to c ?
2 Can we deploy the code in any kind of  controller by writting drivers for it ?

hello, the LM3S8962 microcontroller is a good sispositivos for developing applications of medium complexity, according to your questions:
    1. if you work applications with embedded systems will save labview time in prototyping, we know that if you work with a company specific microcontroller, you must learn the language with which you are working Asm, Basic, C, then if you change hardware again start adapting your code in the libraries of the new compiler. Labview does not happen.
    2. Labview only works with some microcontroller manufacturers and specific models.

  • Using XA with Oracle ERP application

    Hi,
We have two Tuxedo Domains that we need to establish global transaction:
First Domain - Tuxedo 6.4 with Oracle 8.0.6 database.
Second Domain - Tuxedo 6.4 with Oracle ERP application (Oracel version 8.0.5)
A Client that calls a Tuxedo server in the first domain this service doing some work
on the database and then calls another service in the second domain (using Domain
    connection).
The service in the second Domain activate a Oracle API (package) from the ERP application.

    Subbu,
As I mentioned earlier in this thread, support for Oracle RAC has been
implemented in Tuxedo 9.1 and in the Tuxedo 8.1 and Tuxedo 9.0 rolling patch
streams. There are no plans to backport this feature to Tuxedo 8.0. If you
plan to use RAC transactionally and if it is possible for multiple services
that could be located on different RAC instances to be accessed in a single
transaction (which will be true for most applications), then you should
upgrade to a version of Tuxedo with support for Oracle RAC. The
    documentation at http://e-docs.bea.com/tuxedo/tux91/ads/adorac.htm#248431
gives an overview of RAC support in Tuxedo.

    Hello Nadeer, Hello Ed,
Has the implementation of Tuxedo8.0 with Oracle RAC was completed
    successfully ?.
If it is done , I have few doubts. Could you please help me ?.
    1) I hope your Tuxedo middleware connects to the oracle Database using
Oracle XA resource manager and the TMS server built using buildtms with
oracle as RM .As per the mail from Ed, migration of Tuxedo9.1 should be done
    before moving to Oracle RAC.
Also from BEA documentation, Oracle RAC support was given as new feature in
    Tuxedo9.1.
Our Application uses Oracle RM to connect to Oracle DB[ Oracle 10g] from
Tuxedo8.0. So do we need to upgrade to Tuxedo9.1. for using Oracle RAC ?.
    Thanks for your help

  • Building Oracle ADF Applications Workshop

I have finished going through the "Building Oracle ADF Applications: Workshop"
    from the following link:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe9051jdev/ide1012/adfworkshop/buildingadfapplicationsworkshop.htm
Hopefully that is sufficient for the doc writer to locate the context of my
comments. If not, let me know and I'll provide additional information.
I grouped all of these together as one big comment. If you want it in a
different format, again, let me know.
Prior starting the workshop I printed out the entire document which resulted in
51 pages of output. In each comment, except for the first general comment, I
list the section name, step number and my page number which should be enough to
uniquely identify the area that the comment relates to. My suggestions start
out with "It would be nice...". I numbered the comments so I could have
    comments refer to each other.
    (1) One of the things I really liked was the "If you want to see a
demonstration of these steps, click here" links. Sometimes the discussion
was not precise so being able to see the actual usage worked well. It would
be nice if there were more of these in the workshop.
    (2) "Building the Basic Page Flow", step 2, page 13.
I had some trouble with this because it wasn't clear how one changes the
DataPage's name. I used the property sheet and did it wrong, resulting in
an error. I had to consult the "If you what to see..." link to determine
    how to do this correctly.
It would be nice if there were a paragraph before "When you are done"
    saying something like:
To change the name of a DataPage just click on the icon's label and
enter the new value, starting with the leading slash.
    (3) "Connecting the Pages", step 9, page 21.
This step has one switch to the Source editor view to make a change. This
change can also be made in the Design view.
It would be nice to stay in the Design view. The suggested wording for this
    is:
In the Design view you can change the Edit button link by clicking on
the Edit button and pressing the left arrow (<--) key once on the
keyboard. The Property Inspector will be in an <A> element. Edit the
href property by appending the following:
    &event=Edit
    (4) "Connecting the Pages", step 10, page 22.
The first time I had trouble drawing the links. A bit more discussion on
how to draw the links with corners would be nice. One of the troubles was
that I would edit one link and another (or all of them) would suddenly
change to simple vertical links (no corners). The link lines were
separated, but the link names were displayed making it more difficult than
necessary to tell which link line went with which link name.
    (5) "Adding a Create Function", step 4, page 24.
I have the same comment on this step as I did in comment (3).
    (6) "Creating Session Variables with onEvent() methods", step 2, page 27.
The last paragraph describes how JDeveloper will prompt you to enter an
import statement. The comment I wrote on that page was:
    Cool!
It's nice that JDeveloper handles this booking task.
    (7) "Building a Message Stack with a findForward() method", step 1, page 28.
In the second paragraph it's not clear what the context is. It would be
nice if the second paragraph would start out with:
    In struts-config.xml, right-click ...
    (8) "Building a Message Stack with a findForward() method", step 6, page 30.
This code fragment at the end of this step has all lines starting in column
    1. It would be nice if this was indented so it could be followed with less
effort. The same is true for the other code fragments in this section.
    (9) "Building a Message Stack with a findForward() method", step 12, page 32.
I wrote a simple Java program that compared a String variable to a string
literal. In all cases using == to compare returned false, while .equals()
worked correctly. I was using Java 1.4.2_06_b03. Even if Java 1.5 supports
converting the == between strings to equals(), it would be nice if the
comparisons to the "type" variable used the .equals() method instead of ==,
so that those of us still using Java 1.4 would have properly working code.
Note that == in 1.4 compares the hash values while equals() looks at the
    contents.
    (10) "Enabling the Delete Confirmation Page", step 5, page 36.
The last sentence of the first paragraph contains the phrase:
if there are errors, build the ActionMessage object.
It would be nice if this contained an extra word as in:
if there are no errors, build the ActionMessage object.
    (11) "Enabling the Delete Confirmation Page", step 6, page 36.
Line 12 (or 13 if you count blank lines) is storing a value in the request
object. It would be nice to have a discussion in this step instead of
having to wait until section "Intercepting the Middle-Tier Message", step
8, page 42 before we know what this is all about.
    (12) "Overriding the findForward() Method", step 1, page 44.
It appears that the call to the super.findForward method is missing. It
would be nice if the following were inserted before the closing curly
    brace:
    super.findForward(actionContext);
    (13) "Overriding the findForward() Method", step 9, page 46.
Near the end of this step it mentions the imports that are added. It
appears that there is a missing import statement. If this is correct, it
would be nice to also include the following import:
    import oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataActionContext;
    (14) "Overriding the findForward() Method", step 10, page 46.
My diagram doesn't look like this. The "Edit" link between /browseCustomers
and /editCustomers should be "Commit". The "Cancel" link from
/editCustomers back to itself shouldn't be there. The "Commit" link from
/sure to /browseCustomers should be "Cancel". Compare this with the diagram
in section "Creating a Delete Confirmation Page and a Forward", step 5,
    page 25.
    (15) "Internationalizing Field Labels", step 3, page 48.
This is another case where the context is not clear. It would be nice if
the following was added to the first paragraph:
    In the browseCustomers page,
    (16) "Internationalizing Field Labels", step 10+, page 49.
Everything is internationalized except for the buttons. How does one
    internationalize them?
    (17) "Conditionally Displaying a Field", step 1, page 49.
The last sentence says "The result should look like the following:". If one
were following this workshop from front to back then what should be shown
is the internationalized version of this page.
    (18) "Conditionally Displaying a Field", step 5, page 50. Bug?
When I look at the Source view of editCustomers.jsp the <INPUT> element has
a property setting of disabled="true". When I run the application and look
at the HTML source used by the browser, that same <INPUT> element has a
property setting of disabled="disabled". It works, but isn't that somewhat
redundant? I recommend that the source code should have the disabled
property setting as it appears in the Source view.

  • Deploying Forms with Forms6i/Oracle Internet Application Server 8i - need help!

    Hi Gurus!
I am trying to setup the Oracle Internet Application Server 8i (Release 1.0)and deploy the forms to the web. The server is on Solaris. I have installed and configured the application server. I used the 'runform.htm'and 'test.fmx' to test the installation of the application server on the Server machine. In that case it works fine and shows the message 'Application Server is up and running'. Where as if I tried to access the same 'runform.htm'and 'test.fmx' from another client machines through a web browser it is not executing the 'test.fmx' and throws the following error:
" FRM-92060:Failed to connect to the Server. Bad machine specification:'hostname':9001"
    Details...
oracle.forms.engine.RunformException:FRM-92060: Failed to connect to the Server.
I am using the default port#9001 to run the Forms server (i tried using another port and i got the same error). The web server is listnening on the port 7777.
I am not sure what needs to be fixed. Can someone please through some light on this?
    Thanks!

The Oracle 8i jvm component (formerly known as JSERVER) was designed to support server side java.
This component was initially developed and included in the Oracle 8i rdbms 8.1.5.
Enhancements continued to be implemented with the 8.1.6 and 8.1.7 releases
IAS uses the same oracle 8i JVM from the rdbms to support java code on the middle tier.
Here's how the IAS version and the RDBMS version match up on the Oracle 8i jvm's features.
    RDBMS 8.1.6 with IAS 1.0.0 (unix) / 1.0.1(NT)
RDBMS 8.1.7 with IAS 1.0.2 (new name IAS 9i)
    8.1.6 / IAS 1.0.0 / IAS 1.0.1 supports :
session EJB's(1.0 spec), corba objects and java stored procedures
    8.1.7 / IAS 1.0.2 (aka IAS 9i) supports :
The 8.1.7 implementation will support the 8.1.6 features listed above plus the ejb 1.1 spec (entity ejb's -- see below), servlets and java server pages.
note : in another thread Mr. Devin clarified the current status of the EJB 1.1 spec (entity beans)in the 8.1.7 solaris release and the future win nt release.
If I remember correctly, Mr. Devin reported a last minute issue has delayed the support for the entity bean feature but ejb spec 1.0 / 1.1 session beans are in place.
When the entity bean issue is resolved, a software patch needed to support the entity bean feature will be provided in a rdbms patch.

  • Migrating applciation from weblogic to oracle 9i application server(OC4J)??????

    Hi,
I am migrating my ejb application from weblogic to oracle 9i application server. What changes are needed to be made in code and what configuration changes are required.
In my application i use a couple of session beans wherin a session bean calls the method of the other session bean which acceses the database.I am using a jdbc thin driver for the database connection. is it possible for a session bean to call a method of another session bean which access the database??This concept works well in weblogic where the current application is running.
The problem is that while migrating the application to the orion server, it gives an OrionCMTException ...
    memory leak..etc.
    Could any one clarify.
    Thanks in advance!!!

    Hi Avi and Harrison,
Cease Fire avi!!!!.First of all let me clear the issue of posting the same problem twice.Well, when i mentioned the problem the first time , i found the title session bean deployment was not right and few people would look into it as it was a common problem so i thought it would be appropriate if i mentioned the title correctly , so i posted the query again with the change in title.
Now coming to the answer for ur questions.
The platform used is MS Windows NT.
    The (OC4J) version is 1.0.2.2.1.
    I am not using JDeveloper.
The database is oracle 8i and i am using the thin driver.
The beans to be deployed are stateless session beans.
The client involved is a web client i.e a jsp application.
The first session bean is as follows.

But if the DBUTILITY session bean is changed to a simple bean and accessed the code works fine and i am able to retrieve the data.Is the problem there because u one session bean cannot access a database connection method from another one or could it be because of the driver???
I hope i am clear. Please revert back in case any more references are needed.
    Thanks in advance!!!!!!

  • How to get start to develop Oracle database applications with NetBeans?

    Dear Ladies and gentlemen,
I am new to NetBeans. And I know nothing about Oracle. I have installed the
NetBeans 6.8, and I want to learn Oracle database application development
with NetBeans. I don't know how to get start. Give me some suggestions,
    please. Thank you very much.

  • Create new oracle database with JAVA

    Hi!
I would appreciated it if you could help me to solve a problem that i have.
I am trying to create a new oracle database by a JAVA 1.4.2 application. I am using the scripts that Oracle 10.g supplies during the creation of a new database from the server (Generate Database Creation Scripts) with the appropriate changes, generated by a java application. Unfortunately, i am unable to connect with the database and the listener. Is there any other way to create a new database by java and how can i solve my current problem with the oracle scripts?
    Thank you.

    A) To create a new schema, you need to be connected as a user that has create schema privilege, or as tyhe user who is to own the schema (remembering that the user has appropriate create privs, as seen in the GRANT command in the SQL Reference manual). Not an issue at all, I think, if you coordinate this with your DBA. Discussed very well in the Administrator's manual.
    B) Alternately, you could create a complete copy of the schema, including all desired objects (tables, views, etc.) in a separate database and simply export the user and schema. Then simply invoke the OS-based import command (imp) to load that entire thing into the target database.
    C) To create a new database, there are 3 simple steps ...
    1) create the appropriate initialization parameter file
the init{sid}.ora file should be placed in the $ORACLE_HOME/dbs or %ORACLE_HOME%\database directory. (I recommend you do not attempt to create the spfile.) Of critical interest will be setting the block size information, the control file parameters, and using the appropriate memory management parameters, based on the version of the software you will be using to create the database instance.
    2) start an empty instance, pointing to the parameter file
This will be an OS specific call, and will require that you have the correct OS environment set up as well as access to the ORACLE_HOME which will provide the software that you will invoke. In *nix you will need to call the sqlplus command with sysdba provs and in Windows you will need to call oradim to initialize this as a service.
    3) run the SQL create database command
You might want to use the dbca to create a template of the create database command, or look in the SQL Reference manual for the variations on the command. Of critical interest will be initializing the redo logs as well as the system, sysaux (if needed), temp and undo tablespaces after which you can set up the regular tablespaces, users and schemas. I highly recommend that you have redundant copies of the control files on separate drives.
You may want to review the online Concepts manual and the Adminstration Guide for some of the specifics to your needs, but I think I've covered the basics.
Remember that ideally you will only have one database instantiated on any given server as the memory and CPU overhead of each instance is significant.
    Good luck.
