Spry Behaviour

I am not a developer, but a frond end designer who has been
using CS3 for a while and now CS4. So please bare with me if this
sounds like a stupid question, but I am stumped and needs help.
I have created a Horizontal Navigation Bar using the Spry
Menu Bar. It a very simple one with no Sub Menus dropping down and
I have also gotten rid of the little down arrow gif file in the
CSS, and just using background colour to change the hover state.
There are no images used here. Everything works fine when I check
live, changing the colours on mouse over etc. except the down
state. I mean when I select a button and click, how do I change the
background colour on that button only. Right now when I click it
goes to the page I want, but how do I change the state of that
button to current state of Active.
I know how to do this using images and the DWs menu insert.
But I would like to use the Spry widget and change the colours. I
have gone through the SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css file and tried to
change the many rules, but without any luck. I would appreciate if
someone can help me to figure this out. It's really bugging me that
I can't figure this out. Thanks a million in advance.
Raji

Probably not.
The SWF file associated with the media player controls on/off functions.
Instead of show/hide behavior, you might want to step up to a Modal Window system like Highslide or FloatBox.

  • Accordion Spry Widget default loading behaviour

    Am using the accordion spry widget to display some
    spring/summer courses and
    I need all panels closed when the page first loads. I've
    tried to find the
    relevant code, but have not been successful in changing it to
    make this
    work. If I change the behaviour of the 'this.defaultPanel'
    the whole
    accordion stops working. How can I change the accordion
    behaviour to have
    all panels closed at page load?
    Thanks for any help.

    Hello! I have been reading up on this and playing around with
    the code for a few hours now and I can't seem to make it work.
    Basically I would like to have the accordion load collapsed, and
    get rid of the fixed height. Any clue what I'm missing?
    Thanks!

  • Modifying the behaviour of spry tooltip - "pinning to the screen"

    Hi there,
    I have some spry tooltips containing content with links. These tootips are not really that large, but the links change the content of the tooltip. Often, since these tooltips contain links that may be near to the bottom of the visible tooltip content, if the linked-to content is smaller than the previous tooltip, the mouseout event will fire and the tootip will close.
    The triggers for the tooltips can be quite dense in frequency, and I want to keep the delay to a minimum to help swift movement over these dense areas. The problem is that the change in size of the tooltips can catch the browser unaware, and when the tooltip closes it can be quite annoying, (as  the browsing within the tooltip would have to be repeated from the first trigger to access the links in the tooltip.) Changing the hide delay option doesn't really work for me.. I want the showdelay to be quite small, so the hidedelay has to be small also.
    I want to place a checkbox in the tooltip to "pin" it open. I am completely stumped on how to do this. I can quite happily place and replace the checkbox, write event handlers etc.. but the complexity of the spry tooltip code seems indecipherable for me to modify it to my needs.
    I need a 'hack' that will disable the appear/disappear behaviour of the tooltip (as well as the triggers), so that leaving the tooltip or manoevering the mouse outside, and over any other triggers will not change the tooltip displayed, whilst keeping the internal content displayed with its links still working.
    Then, after the checkbox is cleared, normal behaviour to resume.
    If there is a simple fix,.. like duplicating the content into another div styled similarly and replacing the tooltip on screen altogether, at the same position - that'd be great... but how do I do this seamlessly and deactivate/reactivate the tooltip efficiently? I would need to access the position of the tooltip for this, So I still have trouble!
    Please, any help would be greatly appreciated!!
    Many thanks,
    Alex

    Hi Narayan,<br /><br />Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.<br />Using the following code snippet, I was able to figure out the ActionIDs that I needed to filter:<br />>// You can run this code from a codesnippet in the debug build and watch the trace output (with the Test >> Trace >> Obsolete >> Obsolete:Actions category enabled)<br /><br />>MessageToConsole ("Dumping ActionID Info begin...\n");<br /><br />>InterfacePtr<IApplication> theApp(gSession->QueryApplication());<br /><br />>InterfacePtr<IActionManager> actionManager(theApp->QueryActionManager());<br /><br />>actionManager->DumpActionInfo(IActionManager::allActionInfo);<br /><br />Namely, I need to filter kEditOriginalActionID/kLinksPanelMenuComponentBoss and kEditOriginalSelectionActionID/kLinksPanelMenuComponentBoss<br />Everything seems straighforward for the kEditOriginalSelectionActionID ActionID. I just perform my action on the links currently selected in the current document.<br />For the kEditOriginalActionID though, it is necessary for me to know which links are selected in the Links Panel.<br /><br />Any idea how I might do this?<br /><br />Thanks again,<br /><br />- Jackeen

  • Spry.Effect.GrowShrink crazy behaviour

    Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me figure out why
    when I pass the mouse over the thumbnails in my photo gallery, they
    act all jumpy. I used the same effect as in the Spry demo photo
    gallery yet they behave differently. My gallery is located here
    http://www.fotosite.ca/temp/index.htm
    my grow function looks like this (and shrink is similar)
    function GrowThumbnail(img, from, to){
    img.style.zIndex = 150;
    img.style.borderStyle = 'solid';
    img.style.borderWidth = '3px';
    img.style.borderColor = '#ffff00';
    Spry.Effect.GrowShrink(img, {duration: 500, from: from, to:
    to ,toggle:false });
    Thanks in advance for any help,

    Hi,
    I see 2 problems:
    1. The Grow/Shrink effect do not know to consider the margin,
    border and padding so when you add these properties from the
    JavaScript you'll have the weird behavior of images moving down and
    right before animation start and then up and left when the mouse
    leave.
    We automatically include the 1px border in the thumbnail view
    and we only change its color. You remove 2px from the border while
    the mouse is not over the element and when you add them the effect
    is really visible and disturbing. If you consider in keeping a such
    big value for the border then you should keep it when the images
    are not focused.
    2. While you move the mouse over the thumbnails fast some of
    the images will remain open. This is a bug that also reproduce in
    our photo gallery too and I will look to fix it while the new Spry
    will be released. The issue is basically generated by the fact you
    are not using the toggle option while running the effect.

  • Behaviours not working in PDF prototype [click-through]

    I'm trying to create a click-through PDF using Behaviours to swap out images onClick. My aim is to create a prototype PDF of a website for my Portfolio by mimicking a Spry Widget.  Please see image below.
    FYI:  I do have an issue with the Main-Nav which uses simple slices linked to their named page [via Link in Properties].  These are naturally shared in each page via Web Layer from a Master Page.  This menu doesn't function in Preview mode or once exported or previewed in a browser.[Google].  However, it does click-through in PDF format!  So all good there.
    I'm concerned with the 2nd Nav set; 1.1 to 1.9.  A simple set of rectangular Slices linking to the content area below - a single large rectangular Slice.  These Slices are not in the Master Page but located in the Design page of my document, and in all the States of the Design page, of which there are 12 in total. This Nav bar has simple UP, OVER and DOWN States that swap-out and seem to work fine and click-through OK, if previewed in a browser and in Preview mode within Fireworks.
    However, click-through does not function in a PDF.  Each nav-tab Slice is using Behaviours: onMouseOver | Set Nav Bar Image and the second Behaviour being: onClick Swap Image, then names the correct slice to show onClick in the Behaviours' Panel.
    I have tried variations such as adding a Hotspot to create a hand on rollover and clicked and unclicked various Behaviour options in the Behaviours Panel to no avail.  I wondered if it was a PDF option that needed fixing much like when exporting a file from InDD but I can't find a suitable PDF option.  I read elsewhere about not using Animated Gif as an Image File Type but that didn't work either.  When I export to PDF, there aren't the Slice Save options available for PDF.  Also Fireworks defaults to export to Acrobat Pro, though if I view in Pro or Reader the click-through still fails.
    I'm fairly new to Fireworks but would really like to get to grips with it and I love this prototype wizardry.  I'd like to know why the click-thru fails in PDF but functions in browser and FW Preview and why Main Nav functions in PDF but not browser?
    So any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Blanche

    The original post did not indicate the method of creating the PDF. The result that was obtained was what happens when you print to the Adobe PDF printer. To get the hyperlinks embedded in the PDF, you have to use the PDF Maker (create PDF in WORD 2007).

  • Spry Accordion one level link

    Hi to all,
    I have a small issue with a website using a Spry Accordion Widget to create a collapsible menu. I have several items of navigation, for example:
    Link 1
    Link 1.1
    Link 1.2
    The Accordion works well, but in some level there is only one item, and no subitems.
    Link 2
    Link 3
    When I try to add a hyperlink to that level, nothing happens. I removed the div of the content, leaving only the panel tab, but the spry tries to make the animation to open the content tab, which is no longer there. I only want to add a link in the panel tab to open another page.
    Any suggestions? Newbie here...
    Thanks in advance...

    Accordion are not ment to be used as menu bars. They are ment for hiding / displaying content.
    That is why Spry cancels all "native" events that are fired on the tabs. So the accordion will still
    operate if you changed your markup from divs to <a> elements and <p> tags.
    You can overwrite this behaviour by adding the following attribute on your <a> element that you have
    placed inside the accordion tab:
    onclick="window.location=this.href;"

  • Spry menu & jquery tweak

    Hi!
    I have two items I need help tweaking.
    1) the page has the jQuery portfolio, and for some reason, just by having this inserted on the page has "blocked" my spry menu drop down for the portfolio links within.
    2) I've repeated the jQuery gallery twice on the same page so as to compartmentalize different works...the ability to choose how to view the portfolio samples is not working on the second one, but works for the top one. Don't know why when the exact script has been duplicated?
    Can you please help me address these issues so that I may tweak accordingly? Thank you!

  • Spry:region - Update

    Hi,
    I'm a beginner in programming with Adobe Spry so I don't know
    if I already understood the Spry concept correctly or if my
    question has already been answered in this forum before.
    I have got an XML file on my web server which contains the
    address data of a single user in the following way:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
    <adressbook>
    <contact id='1'>
    <name>Person 1</name>
    <company>his company</company>
    </contact>
    </adressbook>
    The xml file is dynamically generated and can be called with
    a GET-parameter "contact" which represents the contact id of the
    contact whose address data should be delivered in the response.
    Now I read something about the Adobe Spry data set concept.
    So I wanted to implement a small address book widget by fetching
    the data of a chosen contact from the server in the following way:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var contactinfo = null;
    function getcontactinfo(contactid) {
    contactinfo = new
    Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("data.xml.php?contact=" + contactid,
    "/adressbook/contact", { useCache: false });
    </script>
    <div id='names'>
    <a href='javascript:getcontactinfo(1)'>Person
    1</a><br>
    <a href='javascript:getcontactinfo(2)'>Person
    2</a><br>
    </div>
    <div id='info' spry:region="contactinfo">
    <table spry:repeatchildren="contactinfo">
    <tr><td>name:</td><td>{name}</td></tr>
    <tr><td>company:</td><td>{company}</td></tr>
    </table>
    </div>
    My problem is that the spry:region won't be updated after
    requesting new data via Spry.Data.XMLDataSet(). If I leave out the
    getcontactinfo()-function and simply write something like
    var contactinfo = new
    Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("data.xml.php?contact=1",
    "/adressbook/contact", { useCache: false });
    everything works fine. Can anybody help me and could give me
    a hint what I might do wrong.
    Thanks a lot
    André Langer
    P.S.: btw. does anybody know if there's an option in the
    spry:repeatchildren part to implement a similar behaviour like in
    XSL where I could find out the tag names (in Spry the column
    names), see
    <xsl:for-each select="/adressbook/contact/*">
    <tr><td><xsl:value-of
    select="name()"/>:</td><td><xsl:value-of
    select="."/></td></tr>
    </xsl:for-each>

    Hi Ala,
    Look into the setURL and loadData functions.
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/articles/data_set_overview/
    You can so something like
    <a onClick="
    contactinfo.setURL('data.xml.php?contact={contactid}');
    contactinfo.loadData();")
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/data_region/SetURL.html
    Hope this helps.

  • Single Page Spry Tabbed Insert - Delete - Update

    Hi Guys
    I like to make a page with three Spry Tabs.
    * Using ( PHP - Mysql )
    * Example ( Table of "Users" Fields ID, Name, Age )
    ( First Tab )
    List of all people with navigation dividing table by ten rows
    each time.
    On each row Delete & Update This person.
    When Clicked on Delete [ Delete This Person and update the
    list ]
    When clicked on Update [ Go to third tab and update this
    exact person ]
    ( Second Tab )
    Insert new person to Mysql
    ( Third Tab )
    Update the person who was send here to be updated from tab
    one
    Can I have all list - Insert - Delete - Update in one page
    under different Spry Tabs? How can I send these info from one tap
    to another. How should I go about this?

    It was never possible to have more than one of those
    behaviours on a page
    using the standard behaviours in previous versions. You
    always had to write
    your own scripts.

  • Dreamweaver color coding screwy for some Spry scripts

    Hi All:
    I am interested in knowing if anyone else has noticed an odd
    behaviour in Dreamweaver CS3. I suspect it is caused by an optional
    missing quote or its like within some of the Spry scripts where
    regular expression patterns are defined, but I have not been able
    to find the 'missing' item.
    Anyway, the code all goes royal blue (the default color for
    operators) rather than black for regular text until Dreamweaver
    finds a single quote (at least it is a single quote in the files in
    which I have seen the problem) much further down the script. It
    makes the scripts really hard to read.
    Examples (file name, problem start line, problem end line):
    SpryValidationTextField.js, line 490, line 979;
    SpryDOMUtils.js, line 417, line 762.
    Any ideas on how to fix this? One that comes to mind for me
    might be to break the expressions up into smaller pieces and then
    concatenate them, but I do not know if that would solve the
    problem.
    Cheers,

    I think its a known error in DW. And there are no fixes aka
    fact of life :).

  • Different Intervals for each tab in Spry Widget TabbedPanels

    Hi,
    I have two tabs panels in my tab panels group and I would them to have different intervals between the two panels is this possible?
    Heres my code for the tab panels:
    <div id="TabbedPanels1" class="TabbedPanels">
          <ul class="TabbedPanelsTabGroup">
           <li class="TabbedPanelsTab" tabindex="0" onFocus="blur();">Tab 1</li>
           <li class="TabbedPanelsTab" tabindex="1" onFocus="blur();">Tab 2</li>
          </ul>
          <div class="TabbedPanelsContentGroup">
           <div class="TabbedPanelsContent">
                   Tab 1 Content
          </div>
          <div class="TabbedPanelsContent">
                   Tab 2 Content
         </div>
         </div>
    </div>
    and here's my code to specify the interval value at the moment:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    var TabbedPanels1 = new Spry.Widget.TabbedPanels("TabbedPanels1", { interval: 12000 });
    TabbedPanels1.start();
    //-->
    </script>
    Thanks

  • A 'normal' thumbnail-image structure with Spry

    Hello.
    I would like to ask the devolopers of Spry if it is possible
    to implement, with Spry classes, a basic structure for the opening
    of an image from a thumbnail. I examined your examples about the
    photo gallery but I would like to perform a more simple behaviour.
    Having a Spry-enhanced table like this:
    <tbody spry:repeatchildren="dsRisultatiRicerca"
    spry:choose="choose" >
    <tr spry:default="default"
    spry:setrow="dsRisultatiRicerca" spry:hover="rowHover"
    spry:select="rowSelected">
    <td align="center" width="119" height="119">
    <a href="#open"
    onclick="openImage('{MYIMAGE}');"><img src="{MYTHUMBNAIL}"
    border="0"></a>
    </td>
    <td>{CODE}</td>
    </tr>
    [etc...]
    I would like that at the click upon MYTHUMBNAIL a 'modal' div
    appeared with the same characteristics (in terms of borders, shape
    transition and fade) of the example of your Photo Gallery.
    The 'opened' image should be visualized in the center of the
    screen and it should be possible to close the div with a button 'X'
    or similar.
    I would thank you if you could provide some support on this
    matter.

    Hi Gowda,
    According to your description, I understand that the meeting request contain picture will be auto increased when send to recipients.
    If I misunderstand your concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.
    How about the internal or external mail flow with Outlook client?
    It’s by default for external mail flow with outlook. Messages increase in size while in transit through the Internet beyond the actual sum of the size of text, graphics, pictures, and attachments.
    Encoding of a message for transmission through the Internet leads to a size increase of approximately one-third.
    I find an similar thread about this question, for you reference:

  • Show thumbnail with spry

    Hi,
    I want to upload images using ADDT.
    Normally I show the thumnails with the "show thumbnail"server behaviour.
    Now I want to create a spry image gallery.
    How can I get the thumnails with spry from the images which I have uploaded with the "Upload and Resize Image" serverbehaviour?
    Is this possible?
    Regards,
    C.J.

    Hi Günter,
    >wow, that is one of the greatest suggestions I read since a long time
    Man, I'll print your post and show to my kid :)
    >Maybe some PHP based preprocessing of the recordset´s column value, e.g. a str_replace or whatever ?
    I solve this issue using the getimagesize() function and adding the size to the file name using substr():
    list($img_width, $img_height, $img_type, $img_attr) = getimagesize("../GalleryFolderName/" . $row_detail2imagens['AlbumField'] . "/" . $row_detail2imagens['FileField']);
    list($thumb_width, $thumb_height, $thumb_type, $thumb_attr) = getimagesize("../GalleryFolderName/" . $row_detail2imagens['AlbumField'] . "/thumbnails/" . substr($row_detail2imagens['FileField'], 0, -4) . "_140x105" . substr($row_detail2imagens['FielField'], -4));
    $thumb_width = ($thumb_width / 10) * 7;
    $thumb_height = ($thumb_height / 10) * 7;
    This generates the code for thumbnails section of my xml. Notice that $thumb_width and &thumb_height are set to 70% of the actual file size. This makes the Spry thumbs to grow onmouseover.
    It is also important to notice is needed to use a nested loop to sort the images per albums.
    Cheers!
    Marcell

  • Spry dataset querys

    After some time working with ASP and databases I've tryed to
    experiment with
    Spry as I though it would be more powerful and easy to work.
    After some
    tests I'm totally frustrated with it.
    I've seen that I can create a Spry dataset but it only allows
    to get
    information from an XML or HTML table. This makes information
    totally
    static. I know that I can build an ASP page that query a
    database and
    creates the XML. But I've not found any way to pass diferent
    parameters on
    the Spry dataset wizard to call this ASP.
    I though that I can use querys to create Spry datasets with
    searches and
    filter information. But now seems almost impossible to me.
    I'm missing
    something or is this Spry dataset useless?
    Regards,
    Angel

    Thanks Massimo!
    I've checked you example and I don't have much knowledge of
    Could Fusion as
    I'm used to ASP. But I see that it can be done. I will study
    it further.
    As I'm not a big coder I just want to create this using
    Dreamweaver server
    behaviours and Spry elements, but I''m stuck as it seems that
    the Spry
    dataset doesn't have an option to pass a parametter when
    calling the ASP
    page that querys the database.
    Basically I need to create a Spry dataset but tell the
    dataset to call a
    "query.asp page" with a parametter "id=x" so the dataset will
    call the ASP
    and generate the XML with the choosen "x" parameter. As it
    seems the dataset
    object is simply created when the page is open I don't know
    how to recall it
    with different parameters to change his contents.
    Regards,
    Angel

  • Problem with Spry Menu

    I have two problems related with Spry Menubar in Dreamweaver CS3.
    First I would like to make the menu transparent (I have a nice graphic I would like to show under). I cannot make it in IE. I wonder if anybody has any ideas.
    Second my menu has a strange behaviour.
    I use the following code to load a page named test1.html into a div named MyDiv of the page that has the menu:
    <li><a href="javascript:loadURL('Test1t.html','Mydiv');" target="_parent">Item1.1</a></li>
    the LoadURL function runs correctly.
    However the first time I load the page in IE I need to click 2 times on Item1.1 to load test1.html. After that the menu works correctly loading test1.html with only one click. Pretty strange!!!!
    Any help is very much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Carly
