Spry tabbed panels: creating links to a different tab
I am trying to feature links on the main section of my tabbed panel page ( http://www.iecaonline.com/benefits-spry.html ) that link to a different tab. I read a tutorial on the labs page (http://foundationphp.com/tutorials/spry_url_utils.php) on how to do this, downloading the spry updater, but I couldn't get it to work. Is there a simple way to accomplish this?
Thanks.

Spry Sliding Panels - Next Link
I was hoping that someone might be able to give me a hand in
modifying the sample code for the Spry SlidingPanels from a
dataset.
I'm able to display 4 panels but the "Next" link in the
sample has been designed to show only on the even records rather
than a fixed number. How would I change this code to display the
"Next" link if I'm showing 4 panels instead of the sample's 2
panels?
<div class="panelnav right" spry:if="{ds_RowNumber} % 2 !=
0 && {nextStartIndex} <
{ds_RowCount}"><a href="#"
onclick="sp1.showPanel('p{nextStartIndex}'); return false;">Next
>></a></div>
Thank you!I need to rework that sample. The way I would make this a bit
easier for folks to adjust would be to make numberOfPanelsPerView
global. So in that example, modify the code that looks like this:
ds1.addObserver({ onPostLoad: function() {
var numberOfPanelsPerView = 2;
So that it looks like this:
var numberOfPanelsPerView = 2;
ds1.addObserver({ onPostLoad: function() {
And then change the markup that looks like this:
spry:if="{ds_RowNumber} % 2 == 0 &&
{prevStartIndex} >= 0"
spry:if="{ds_RowNumber} % 2 != 0 &&
{nextStartIndex} < {ds_RowCount}"
To look like this:
spry:if="{ds_RowNumber} % numberOfPanelsPerView == 0
&& {prevStartIndex} >= 0"
spry:if="{ds_RowNumber} % numberOfPanelsPerView != 0
&& {nextStartIndex} < {ds_RowCount}"
Then it would just be a matter of someone changing
numberOfPanelsPerView to 4:
var numberOfPanelsPerView = 4;

I'm trying to take multiple files and create one large (165 page) document but would like to create links to the different "chapters" within the document.
LH,
You may (you can see Groups in the Layers palette with the layer expanded):
1) Ctrl/Cmd+A to select everything and Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+G to Ungroup ;
2) ShiftClick the circle to deselect it; if it is still a Group (all of its own), Ungroup again;
3) With the Centre Reference Point ticked in the Transform palette multiply the W or H value by 1.1 (just add *1.1 in the box) and Ctrl/CmdEnter to keep proportions (this is to make sure that they are long enough);
4) Ctrl/Cmd+A to select everything again and Pathfinder>Divide (this will make pie pieces);
5) Drag over the centre with the Direct Selection Tool and press Delete (this will rid you of the inner parts of the pie pieces so you just have the outer rim in pieces).
This should give you the 30 independent curved lines forming the circle, two of them with an extra (original) Anchor Point. -
Internal Links in Spry tabbed Panels
Does anyone know how to create internal links from tabbed
panel to tabbed panel in a Spry tabbed panel asset?
I used a tabbed panel layout for articls on my site, with
each subsection of the article in a different tabbed panel.
I want to put a link at the bottom of each tabbed panel's
content allowing the reader to go to the next tabbed panel's
content.
I know the reader can click on the tabs at the top, but I
want them to be able to click a "next page" button
at the bottom of each tab as well.
When I place a named anchor within the content of a tab's
content and link to it from a word within another tab's content,
the link does not work. I've tried it in Safari, Firefox, and IE.
Doesn't work in any.
If there's a Spry/Ajax expert out there, could you come up
with a work around? Internal links within Spry Tabbed Panels would
be very useful.
An example of using the Spry tabbed panel format for a news
article is here:
http://www.avalonwine.com/Zanzibar-Cellars.php
Thanks for help anyone can offer.
JeanI am having the exact same problem. I would like to link an
image from my "Home" tab to the top of my "Projects" tab. But the
image link to the Named Anchor at the top of the "Projects" tab
does not work. Named anchors within a tabbed panel work fine. I'm
just not able to cross between tabs. Is there some script we can
add to the link to invoke the Spry tabbed panel widget? thanks,

Link to tabs in spry collapsible panel work in IE-8; not Firefox or Safari
I have little experience with Spry. I've asked my question on the user forum in Dreamweaver several times with no response. I am hoping that someone somewhere in the Adobe community can help me resolve this issue.
I created links from the top of a page to the tabs of a spry collapsible panel underneath.
In IE-8, on one page, with a small collapsiable panel, clicking the link creates a rollover effect on the appropriate panel. This effect works wonderfully for my purposes.On another page, with a long collapsible panel, clicking the link jumps the user to the panel AND creates a rollover effect. Perfect.
In Firefox and Safari, clicking the link does nothing. If I right-click the link in Firefox, I create a duplicate of the page.
I am using Windows XP and Dreamweaver CS4
http://www.judydiamondstone.net/Writing.html
click any of the links in the first section of the page
Thanks.Arnout, Thank you so much for the guidance!
My code now looks like this:
(Click the first tab
below to open; click to close.)
but it still doesn't work
(I still like the error effect in IE!)
Do I need to add to the CSS or JS script that comes with the spry widget?
I am accessing all the tutorials I can find, including a very clear
explanation of event handlers in a Safari online search but I'm obviously
missing one or more basic concepts.

Spry tabbed panels - Different Hover Class for each tab
Already posted this in the general Dreamweaver section, but just realized there was a specific Spry section. So, my apologies for the repost.
I'm setting up spry tabbed panels, and I'm wanting to use an image for each tab, with the text already on it. I've figured this much out by creating a different class for each in the spry tabbed panel css.
However, I'd also like to have a second hover image for each tab. I'm having trouble figuring out how to set up separate classes for each tab's hover state.
Any help?
Thanks.Just in case you did not notice the announce at the top of this forum's main page, I have copied it here.

Linking page to Named Anchor on multiple spry tabbed panels
I am a Dreamweaver (cs5) "beginner" with little HTML knowlege. I am doing a site for an artist friend with several art gallery images. I have created a separate .html page for each image from the gallery (the gallery pages are built within several tabs in a spry tabbed set). When it came time to link my image page back to the particular gallery page, it did not work, only the default panel could be linked. I found Gramps' answer to another persons question that was similar to mine, only that person was using spry collapsible panels. Gramps answer: <a name="myAnchor"></a>, then URL origin page: ourPage.html?col2=open#myAnchor, and it apparently worked. I tried this using "tabbedpanel2" which is probably wrong; at any rate.... nothing seems to work.
For my first time doing this, can anyone put this in the simplest form, using my own page, link names? I have spent several day not getting anywhere.
Spry Panel page is called: store_sheet.html
namedAnchor on this page is called: o-pg2
origin page is called: 009.html
Because I'm not very good in HTML, I usually highlight what I am going to code so that I can find where it is at in the split screen, then I edit. This is how raw my knowledge-base is at this point.
Any help and advise would be greatly appreciated. I'm several days behind because of this glitch.On the first page, the peeling turnips image looks like this -
<p><a href="shop_originals/001.html"><img src="shop_originals/peelingturnips.jpg" width="188" height="254" alt="original"></a></p>
The next image in the row looks like this -
<p><img src="shop_originals/02.jpg" width="188" height="254" alt="original"></p>
So, just select that image and link it to the detail page, e.g.,
<p><a href="shop_originals/002.html"><img src="shop_originals/02.jpg" width="188" height="254" alt="original"></a></p>
The on that detail page, make the continue shopping link like this -
<a href="../store_sheet.html#o-002"><strong>Continue Shopping</strong></a>
Is that what you wanted? -
Spry Tabbed Panels- Open link on click
I am completely new to Dreamweaver and web design in general so please bear with me. I have created a tab menu using Spry Tabbed Panels but dont know how to make it so once a tab has been clicked an html file (ex. tab1.html which is saved on my computer) opens in the content portion, not open a new window.Can anyone post a tutorial or if its simple enough, post some directions?
Any help would be appreciated!Spry Tabbed Panels are not a "menu" per se, but a series of panels, all but one of which remain hidden until their tab is clicked. Tabbed Panels is a Spry "disclosure" widget. All the content may actually exist on the same page as the Tabbed Panels widget, or you can use <iframe></iframe> to 'surface' other pages in your Tabbed Panel Content divs.
As it sounds as if you want to use the <iframe> approach, here's how:
<div id="TabbedPanels1" class="TabbedPanels">
<ul class="TabbedPanelsTabGroup">
<li class="TabbedPanelsTab" tabindex="0">First Panel</li>
<li class="TabbedPanelsTab" tabindex="0">Second Panel</li>
</ul>
<div class="TabbedPanelsContentGroup">
<div class="TabbedPanelsContent">This is the content of the first panel <br /><iframe src="heirloom.html" width="100%" height="800" frameborder="0"></iframe></div>
<div class="TabbedPanelsContent">This is the content of the second panel <br /><iframe src="data.html" width="100%" height="500"></iframe></div>
</div>
</div>
You can also omit the frameborder="0" if you want to keep the default look of an iframe. Remember to give both a height and a width to your iframes. Test them in several different browsers (or BrowserLab) to make sure they look the way you want.

Spry Tabbed Panels and Pop Up Link from Image Hotspot
I've created an image map with Hotspot links to either send to another web page or to open a previously created Pop Up window with information.
I've imported my image, image map and Hotspots into a tab
The issue I'm having is when clicking on the hotspot (within the Spry tabbed panel), to open the pop up page; it doesn't work
If I select a Hotspot which sends users to another web page, that works ok.
Would appreciate it if someone else who has run into this and what your recommendation is for a fix.

Need help linking spry tabbed panel from external page
Could use some help. I need to link to a specific spry tabbed panel on page "A" from a link on page "B" I have tried several "solutions" on the web and had no luck. When I add the code needed at the bottom of the code where you initiate the instance, it stacks the content of ALL panels in the first panel, and renders the tabs inoperable. This is a key feature I need in a new site being developed.

Have you tried http://foundationphp.com/tutorials/spry_url_utils.php ?

Depending on what the code looks like, it can do all sorts of things.
Please be reminded that the best way for us to help you is by you supplying a link to your site with a one sentence description of the problem.

Linking to specific spry tabbed panel - code not working
Hi,
I have followed the tutorial at

Can I use Spry Tabbed Panels to create a multi page form?
I'm trying to setup a multi page form and have been unsuccessful using PHP Sessions.
Would it be possible to use the Spry Tabbed Panels in DW CS3 and divide the different sections of the form in the panels? My thought is to have the Form Element around the main Tab Div and the submit button at the end of the form. Would this work?
If so, is there a way to have a "Next" button that will activate the next Tab so that the user can easily tab through each form field and easily go to the next tab to help with usability?Beth, thank you! I was able to get the tabs to advance using your suggested
on the right: "Next Panel"
<a href="#" onclick="TabbedPanels1.showPanel(2); return false;">Next Panel</a>
In order to make it more graphical, I added a Next Button as suggested in the "Open Tabs Programatically" info at http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/articles/tabbed_panel/index.html
<button onclick="TabbedPanels1.showPanel(0)" >open first panel</button>
<button onclick="TabbedPanels1.showPanel('tabID')">open panel</button>
<script type="text/javascript">
var TabbedPanels1 = new Spry.Widget.TabbedPanels("TabbedPanels1");
</script>
When I add the above code, when I clicked on the Next Button, it would submit the form. After looking at the Text Code, I noticed the Button Code did not have the ;return false; in the code so once I added that, the buttons now work as I want them to.
Take a look at http://www.soleproductions.com/oakley/tabform.php
Now that I have the basic setup, I can begin to setup the actual Online Application.
Thanks again for everyone's help. I guess I was looking for the WISIWIG way to do it since I'm not very good at hand coding. -

More than one spry tabbed panels
Hi,
On my index page I have a tabbed panel with it own css (size,
color, etc.)
I would like to insert another tabbed panel on another page
(tabbed panel2). I would like this to have its own css style
(different size, color scheme, etc.)
When I insert a spry tabbed panel in dreamweaver it
automatically takes on the css of my original tab panel design! How
can I let the second tabbed panel take on its own life, completely

Create a second set of CSS rules for it. The easiest way is
to make a
copy of SpryTabbedPanels.css, and call it
SpryTabbedPanels2.css. Link
SpryTabbedPanels.css to the original page, and
SpryTabbedPanels2.css
to the page that you want to look different.
