Spry tabbed panels in firefox

Hello, I am using the Spry tabbed panels in Dreamweaver CS4 and when I render in firefox there is a large amount of space at the bottom as if the tabbed panels are allowing space for each subsequent tab - even though the text is in the next tab.

First you have some code issues. Run your page through the validator: http://validator.w3.org/ . You can ignore the tabindex one because Spry uses that even though it's not really valid. You can't have an h6 tag inside an h6 tag, you are missing some end tags. CSS seems fine, just the usual Spry items come up.
Make sure all the tags match up and see if you are still having the issue. Also, be aware that there is a version 2 of the Spry Tabbed Panels as part of the Widget Browser (integrated in CS5, separate for CS4 use). I have a perplexing problem, in firefox the iframe in the spry tabbed panel doesn't work any ideas?

I have made a page with spry tabbed panels, i have embedded an iframe in the content section of the second tab, this works perfectly well with Google, IE, Safari, Opera etc but just doesnt work in Firefox.
If I make the tab panel containing the iframe the Default tab then it works, i just cant figure out why,

Seeing it in context and in our browsers is much easier to debug.
If not, make sure to run the validator here The W3C Markup Validation Service and clear out any problems. HTML errors, especially structural ones, will cause all kinds of display problems in various browsers/versions/platforms.

Spry Tabbed Panels overwritting Flash drop down menu in IE but display fine in Firefox

I am having an issue with Spry Tabbed Panels appearing above
a Flash drop down menu in IE6 & IE7 but it works fine in
Firefox. Would someone be able to educate me on what I can do to

I think your are referring to the css attribute: outline:none;
Added outline:none; to the css rule and it should be gone.

Firefox - Spry tabbed panel issue

Hi, need a little trouble shooting help here.
This works fine in ie7 but not Firefox 2 or 3. The Spry
Tabbed Panel just looks like an ordinary unordered list but it's
still clickable.
I've placed the script in the header and the css is imported
in the main style sheet.

Cory,
I copied and pasted your code into a new document locally and
then attached the JavaScript and CSS files for the Tabbed panels
and it styled and worked correctly for me. I then noticed that your
live page you have the Spry CSS files imported into your mainStyler
using the following syntax:
@import url ("../includes/SpryTabbedPanels.css");
I tried similar syntax using Dreamweaver to link in the css
file into an attached CSS file and it created code like this:
@import url("../SpryAssets/SpryTabbedPanels.css");
and it then began to work. It took a while, but it finally
struck me that there is a space between url and ( in your code and
none in the code I had created. So I added a space to my code and
then the styling broke, removed it and the styling came back. So
try removing the space (probably for all 3 @imported files) and see
how that works out for you.

Spry Tabbed Panels overwritting popup menu in IE6 and IE7 but display fine in Firefox

I am new to Spry and Dreamweaver CS3 and would appreciate any
help anyone can give. I am having an issue with Spry Tabbed Panels
appearing above a navigation bar pop up menu only in IE6 and IE7.
Everyhting works like expected in FF. I have several product pages
that are exhibiting the same issue. I am not having this issue when
using Spry Accordian. Would someone be able to educate me on what I
can do to fix this problem. One of the product pages that is
exhibiting this problem is

The IE browsers implement z-indexing differently than most
browsers ... specifically, IE browsers establish a new z-index
context if you set the position CSS property of an element to
anything other than static.
What this means is that if you set something to
position:relative ... any z-index values of children inside that
element will be relative to that element.
In your case, you seem to have a position relative on your
div FWTableContainer1966866324. If you set the z-index value to
something like 10, you'll notice that it fixes the problem.

Spry tabbed panels - Different Hover Class for each tab

Already posted this in the general Dreamweaver section, but just realized there was a specific Spry section. So, my apologies for the repost.
I'm setting up spry tabbed panels, and I'm wanting to use an image for each tab, with the text already on it. I've figured this much out by creating a different class for each in the spry tabbed panel css.
However, I'd also like to have a second hover image for each tab. I'm having trouble figuring out how to set up separate classes for each tab's hover state.
Any help?

The latest version of the Adobe Spry Framework is 1.6.1, this is the same version that ships with Dreamweaver CS4. If you use Dreamweaver CS3 (uses Spry 1.4), its wise to upgrade your files to the latest version. This can easily be done using the Spry Updater that can be found here.

Spry Tabbed Panels mangled by IE

I have struggled -- and failed -- to figure out why IE mangles my Spry Tabbed Panel code even though the same code is rendered perfectly by Firefox, Safari, and Dreamweaver's Live View. If you think you can help me out, please take a look at the affected web page:

I would appreciate any suggestions as to how I can get IE to render the code as the other browsers do. I assume that the problem on IE has something to do with my effort to use the very long photo.since the web page snaps back into the proper position when the second tab panel is activated.
Only the web page provided currently uses Spry Tabbed Panels. The rest of the website is live using only rollover menus. I want to upgrade the website with tabbed panels, but they have to work properly in IE, of course.

Thanks, Helpvid, but I don't think that is the problem. I already know that IE has to be "kicked" to start Javascript. However, if you look at my web page -- www.mulinosultevere.com/panorama_tab.htm -- you will see that IE is, in fact, recognizing the Javascript because the second tab panel is rendered correctly. My problem is with the first panel that has the very long photo. Apparently there is a problem with the Javascript/html code itself. I am still looking for a solution :-( .

Spry tabbed panels on these pages display fine in Firefox and
Safari.
But in IE on two separate Vista-running PCs, everything
except the tabs themselves loads, until you click refresh one or
more times. Both PCs were on broadband connections and I checked
each PC several times just to make sure it wasn't just an
intermittent connection.
Way to fix this for IE? As far as my client is concerned,
it's a bug.

I have tried Barascu Diana's fix to both pages linked at the
top, but am presently unable to test it on IE6. Anyone able to see
if those tabs are now appearing?

Flex swf in a spry tabbed panel

I have a spry tabbed panel in one of the panels I am

although it does load and run correctly I get a nasty error message

Google Analytics on Spry Tabbed Panels

I have created a website where I am using a few main html pages and have vertical Spry Tabbed panels for sections of information within most of the pages. I wish to track the clicks on the vertical Tabbed panels, but I am not having much luck implementing it. I could probably figure it out if I saw an example somewhere. I have also implemented a "back button" feature (thanks to Arnout Kazemier!) and clicking to go directly to a tab on a page using the SpryUtils into the default tab option for Spry Tabbed Panels. The Google Analytics web pages have information on gadget tracking, and one on tracking AJAX, and one on using the newer asynchronous tracking (which is supposed to be better for Ajax, etc).   I have tried to implement asynchronous tracking along with the "Tracking AJAX" recommendation by Google with no information being posted in a couple of days.

I have also seen examples where a counter is used just to count, but I would like the information on which pages were clicked.
I would rather not do this using the event tracking (but if that's the only way I'm OK), partly because the event tracking would be separate from the page tracking and the other features woudn't be as useful (exit page, sorting based on content, etc.).
I am not a great programmer, but I could probably manage it I saw an example close enough to what I need.
If anyone has any ideas, solutions, implemented examples that could help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have checked out your page using Firefox, firebug net panel that monitors requests from and to your page. And i do see a successful call to the google servers. But I also noticed a JavaScript error on your page caused by these lines of code:
http_request.onreadystatechange = sendAlert;
       http_request.open('GET', url, true);
       http_request.send(null);
You might want to remove those.

Spry Tabbed Panels - Forms within Panels

Any thoughs on how to place updatable Forms within Tabbed
Panels. I thought it might be interesting to try to use the Spry
Tabbed Panels to allow Updating specific areas of a database using
each tab to update specific fields of a table. When doing this
using the Update server behavior I create all sorts of variable
issues.
Anybody have thoughts on this... or an alternate method to
create the same effect?

Were you able to use the widget in Firefox? For me, it just displays of the panels, one on top of the other and no tabs. Maybe my browser's broken (that would be the best case scenario). I'll start there.

Spry Tabbed Panels issue

I'm having an issue with a footer table that is underneath my spray asset. When you open the site in Safari, this table appears off to the side of the spry content, when I'd like it to appear beneath the content..as it is a footer..This ONLY happens in Safari! It works perfectly fine in IE, Chrome, and Firefox.
I think it may have something to do with the fact that each content area of the tabbed panels is a different height, but I'm not sure how to go about fixing this. Can anyone help me?

You are using Spry version 1.4. At the very least you should be using Spry version 1.6 which will likely overcome your problem.

Spry Tab panels seem to expand my page vertically by hundreds of pixels

I am using the latest version of Spry widgets and on every
page that I have a Tabbed Panel, in Firefox, the page expands
vertically by several hundred pixels, placing my Tabbed Panel at
the bottom and a vast white space above it. Works fine in IE and
Safari though. The Tabbed Panel still works fine in Firefox, it
just locates it self miles below the top of the page. Anybody have
an idea for me?

Hi pixelfixer,
On your outer table you are specifying a height that is not
enough to accomodate all of the content within it when your longer
tabs are showing. This is tickling some layout bugs within
Mozilla/Firefox. To see what I'm talking about, turn on all the
borders for the tables within your document. You'll notice that the
large whitespace that appears is actually Firefox sizing the empty
row *above* the tabbed panels improperly.
The table with the height specified looks like this:

If you remove the height specification, things work properly
which means you won't need the workaround CSS rules you picked up
from one of the other forum posts:

FYI, the setting of the display to table does not work in IE
anyways, only block works ... and it turns out that the previous
forum post could've been fixed by simply removing his height
attribute too.
Also, I noticed that you have JS syntax errors being
generated because you have JS code at the top of your document that
looks like this:
VB_Home_over = newImage("../images/VB_Home-over.jpg");
It should be "new Image" ... 2 words:
VB_Home_over = new Image("../images/VB_Home-over.jpg");
You should do a global replace of "newImage" with "new Image"
in your original template document.
