Spry Validation Checkbox with an ASP button

Is there any way to get the Spry Validation Check box
JavaScript to fire when a asp button is clicked. I noticed that is
was originally written for an HTML submit type. If my question
seems juvenile I apologize but my brain is racked with other issues
concerning the web page I am developing. Thanks in advance

Do yourself a big favor and don't waste time with Spry Validation.  Most modern browsers support HTML5 forms with the required attribute.
If you must placate older browsers, use jQuery validate script.  It's lightweight and works when HTML5 support is missing.  You can see an example below. If you hit submit with empty form fields, the required fields pop-up with messages.  View source in browser to see the code.

  • Spry validation issue with submit button

    Hi,
I'm new to Spry but am having an issue getting it to work at all.  I created a very simply form (i.e. table with Spry text field and submit button).  I've read many articles and been to several forums, but I can't seem to find the issue I'm having.  Basically, when I go to preview the page in a browser, the table with the Spy text field and submit button comes up fine, but when I hit the submit button, I see the page refresh and any values I had in the text field disappear, but nothing ever comes up saying "A value is required," which is what I'm looking for. This happens even if I don't have any values in the text field.  Below are images of what I'm describing and also the code.  I verified that the "Required" check box is checked in the SpryTextField and the submit button action is selected to "Submit Form."  My setup is Win 7, DW6, & XAMPP.  Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
    Before Submit Button pressed:
Browser after button pressed: (same as above but no message saying "A value is required.")
    Code:

  • Spry validations fails with different submit btn

    Hello,
I have a form with spry validation, works great. The moment I
add this as the submit button rather then the normal submit the
spry validation will not longer work:
    <input name="submitbutton" type="button"
    class="submitbutton" onclick="if(this.value == 'Submit Order')
this.form.submit(); this.value = 'Processing Your Order!! Do not
    click again.';" value="Submit Order" />
Really want to flip out the submit button after click like
this...anyone have suggestions to get this working?
    -Joe

I only added one line -- return ray.ajax(); -- when all validation has been passed right before return come true.
I wish I could do it with the Spry Validation too. Any ideas?.

  • Tutorial for a Spry photo gallery with thumbs and buttons ???

Anyone know of a a tutorial for building a Spry photo gallery with both thumbnails and next, previous, stop and play buttons(functions)  ???
Like the ones on Adobe's Photo Gallery demos; http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/demos/pe_gallery.html
Adobe show the source for their Photo Gallery Demos, but that doesn't help me much ... I need a prober tutorial that tells me how to do : )
The only tutorial that I've been able to find, is one for Dreamweaver 8, without buttons - I'm looking for a updated version.
I appreciate any help very much. Thank you.

Just Google for the Spry photo gallery and you might find

    or even a few others.
    Happy Sprying

  • Use Spry Validation with jQuery Form to Form Wizard (v1.1)

I am trying to use spry validation widgets with jQuery Form to Form Wizard script found here http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex16/formwizard.htm
This is a script that makes a long form into a multi part wizard/form with next and back buttons.
for the most part it works with the spry widgets on blur and onsubmit, but to make it work properly the next buttons of the script should be disabled until the user corrects what has caused spry error messages.  The script creator has made onpagechangestart event handler to allow for this.  Description here http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex16/formwizard_suppliment.htm. By returning false from this event handler, you disable the user's ability to go on to the next page until a value of true is returned.
How can I script for Spry validation to return false if it has errors from this event handler?
Thanks in advance for any help,

    did you check this example:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/form_submission/Submit_and_Validate_Form.p hp.html

  • Problem with asp:Button in PTWC 2.1 - onclick not rendering on second button

I have a user control with two asp buttons in one TD tag (they both have ptrender=true on them). In the portal only the first button fires its event. The second button does not. I did a partial view source on the two buttons and I see this (button 1 in blue, button 2 in red):
    <TR><TD colSpan=3></TD></TR><TR><TD align=right colSpan=5><INPUT id=_ctl0_cmdSubmit onclick="if(PTWCControl_2_1.inlineSubmit('PTPortletDIV_4645')){__doPostBack_4645('4645','frmAdmin_4645','','', PTWCControl_2_1.extraArgs(this, 'submit', event));return false;}" type=submit value=Submit name=_ctl0:cmdSubmit ptrender="true"><INPUT id=_ctl0_cmdSubmitAddRewards type=submit value="Submit & Add Rewards" name=_ctl0:cmdSubmitAddRewards ptrender="true"></TD></TR>
So for some reason the onclick event is only being added to the first button. The interesting thing is, if I drop a second TD tag around the second button, they both work fine. This issue just showed up recently. I'm fairly sure that multiple buttons has worked in lots of other cases. Has anyone see this problem before? Any ideas?

The buttons are on the same line. I would like to upgrade to 2.2 and I'm sure that we will at some point, but it won't happen without some time dedicated to testing. I'd like to get this figured out with version 2.1. The strange part is that it just showed up after the portlet was enhanced. I looked at everthing changed and I can't figure out what could have caused it. Anyone have any idea what would cause 2 buttons in one TD tag not to both receive the onclick event?

  • Spry validation select widget problem

    Dreamweaver CS3
Im using spry validation for my form but the two spry validation select widgets I am using are not working. When I test them I keep getting errors that nothing has been selected when something has in fact been selected. I've used spry validation before with no problems but this is the first time using the spry validation select widget.

  • How to use Spry validation with link styled submit buttons..??

I'm working with a theme package that comes with a bunch of button styles that work with basic links.  For example:
    <a href='page.html' class='small-button smallblue'><span>Button Label</span></a>
I've got a basic form setup with Spry validation, but the submit button needs some styling to make it look nice with the site.  Since there are already styles ready for me to turn links into buttons I figured I'd use the same thing for my submit buttons.
To accomplish that, I'm using the following javascript...
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function submitForm() {
        document.getElementById("form_name").submit();
    </script>
And then I'm updating my submit button to something like this...
    <a href='javascript: submitForm()' class='small-button smallblue'><span>Button Label</span></a>
When I do this, the form submits as expected, but the Spry validation doesn't work.  Is there a way I can make the Spry stuff work with these types of buttons?  I know I could create separate styles for the submit buttons themselves, or I could use an image type button, but I'd really like to figure out how to get these existing styles to work for me since the theme already has so many of them done for me.
Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Save yourself a lot of trouble and style the normal submit button as per

  • Mailto form with spry validation won't open in IE

    Hi,
I've created a mailto: form using Spry validation fields and have two issues.
    1. I create the form, transfer it to the webserver and the validation fields work.  But when I reopen the form in Dreamweaver to make changes, an error window comes up saying that there are widgets that no longer exist and some of the fields have lost their validation code.
    2.  The form works fine in Firefox, but in IE, you click Submit, it brings up the email window, but the content is empty.

  • Spry Validation Selection - Required with Default Initial Selection

    Hello,
I am using a Spry Validation Selection drop down.  I want the user to choose 1, 2, 3, or 4.  I would also like the drop down to initially say "Choose One"  I would like to force the user to have to choose 1, 2, 3 or 4.  Is this possible simply through Dreamweaver's edits?
    Thanks,
    Melanie

Yes, have a look at the following

  • Spry Validation Select ultimate beginner

    Hello to all,
I need help with the spry validation select thingy.  Basically, I am not a programmer, so code stuff won't help me much.  I need a bit of a walkthrough:
    The problem:
    1) I need 2 validation select boxes with about 10 choices each.
    2) I need an activation button  - that is, when the correct choices are selected, the user presses a button to take them to the right webpage.
    3) I need the choices within each select box to (obviously) direct the user to a different page once the activation button is pressed.
    My solution so far:
    1) I can insert the 2 validation select boxes into dreamweaver, with what i think is the correct naming, etc.  I can also set the 10 choices for each.  I do not know what the "value" tab means in the "list values" button I use to name and set the number of choices.
    2) I can insert the button as well (just insert, nothing else)
    3) I am not able to link the 10 choices with anything - I simply don't know how to do that, and cannot find info about it.  When I live preview my work so far I get 2 nice drop/validation boxes with 10 choices each, and a button.  I now need to, given a specific choice and after the button is pressed, to take the user to a different webpage with information about the double selection they chose.
I hope the above is clear enough - in the end, I will have 100 seperate webpages that need to be linked to the choices (10 choices in one box times 10 choices in the other box), I just need a way to link those choices to the webpages.  Any basic and non-code based help would be very appreciated,
    Cheers,
    P

    You have got no hope!
    1) I need 2 validation select boxes with about 10 choices each.
You have stated that you have already done this. The value of the select element can be found here http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_select.asp
    2) I need an activation button  - that is, when the correct choices are selected, the user presses a button to take them to the right webpage.
You have stated that you have already done this
Seeing that you have already done the above, these are no longer a problem. This leaves us with
    3) I need the choices within each select box to (obviously) direct the user to a different page once the activation button is pressed.
For this we would need to see your markup in situ. Please supply a link to your site.

  • Spry Validation form objects

I have just been looking at the Spry validation form objects
like the textfileds and the checkboxes etc, and I like what I see,
but I wandered how I might deal with them once filled in and the
    form is submitted.
Currently, I create forms manually and then use the Yaromat
Validate form which I think is really good. I create asp pages, so
I programme my email forms to be submitted by CDONTS. Once the form
is submitted it is then sent to a thank you page where the CDONTS
code is sitting, and is formatted into an email and sent to the
    relevant email addresses.
If I chose to use Spry validation instead of the Yaromat
Check form, do I just carry on creating the CDONTS code on the
thank you page as I would do normally in order for the email to be
    sent?
    Thanks
    Mat

You can specify addional error locations. See this example: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/validationwidgets/Single_error_message_onS ubmit.html

  • Spry validation stops me writing a MySQL record

    Good morning,
This is very strange and has been driving me nuts for a couple of days now. Using DW CS6/ Win 7/ IE 11/ FF/ Chrome.
I had an application form that worked correctly, validated input and wrote a new record to a MySQL db. I had to develop a very similar web page so I took the existing page and updated it.
I have found, after a lot of trial and error, that I can write a new record containing valid data but spry doesn't work - no validation and no hints appear in the text boxes. Or, I can get spry validation to work but the web page hangs when I try and write a new record.
Amongst other changes, the old page had a checkbox which I deleted from the new page and there are no other checkboxes on the page. When i remove the js  "var sprycheckbox2 = new Spry.Widget.ValidationCheckbox("sprycheckbox2");" Spry validation works, hints appear etc but the page hangs when I click the "Next Step" button which should write to the db. if I leave the js for the widget in the page I don't get any spry validation or hints but the record is written to the db. In both cases I had commented out the link to "SpryValidationCheckbox.js".
Here's a link to the version which has the widget http://www.hollisterairshow.com/rally/vendorApp2.php?blapp=inline&tspapp=inline&tfpapp=inl ine , this has no hints in the text boxes and spry validation doesn't happen at all, but it does write a record to the db. here's a link to the version where I commented out the js for the checkbox widget - it's the second one in the list of widgets at the end of the page. I made no other changes http://www.hollisterairshow.com/rally/vendorApp3.php?blapp=inline&tspapp=inline&tfpapp=inl ine
It looks like the widgets were added at the end of the google analytics code but I don't know if this is relevant.
I'm also getting widgets listed as missing when I open the page in DW, the checkbox I referred to is the first one listed below, could this be relevant? Do I just delete the js for each of the widgets listed?  Sorry if this is a basic question, I'm getting very confused at this point.
i'd really appreciate some direction in trying to fix this.
    Thanks,
    Tony

I took a look at jqueryvalidate and it looks straightforward, my only reservation is that it doesn't appear to support hints in the form fields e.g. in a zip code field "5 digit Zip" etc. I googled around and found yet another library that claims to do this. So now I'm looking at adding two libraries I'm not familiar with and rewriting my form.
I was really hoping a fresh pair of eyes could spot something I'm missing - the old version of this form worked, and still works. When I added/ deleted a few fields to the new version my problems started.
    Thanks again..
