SQL azure database size not dropping down after deleting all table

Dear all,
I have a simple database on Azure for which I have deleted all table data. The size of the database is still showing 5Mb of data and I am charge for that. I have heard that this may happen from cluster index getting fragmented.
I have run  a querry I found on internet on all my table index to show percentage of fragmentation and all report 0%.
DBA is not so my job but what could it be or how can I reduce that size ?
ON premise I would use COMPACT DB but not available in azure like some others DB action
Thnaks for tips
regards

user created objects/data are not the only ones stored in your database. you got system objects and metadata as Mike mentions above.
are you trying to skip being charged if you're not storing data? looking at the pricing table,  you'll still get charged the $4.995 for the 0-100MB database size range.

When setting up a SQL 2000 Database Maintenance Plan the drop down for Remove files older than is not populating with hours, days, weeks, or months. It is just blank. The version is  Microsoft SQL Server  2000 - 8.00.2039 (Intel X86)

This also works. All the credit goes to a user named eyechart.  Great directions provided as well.

    sqlmaint.exe
was missing from MSDE 2000, but that was fixed in SP1 I think. Since this is SP3
you probably have a missing registry value for the backup directory.
    I
had to fix a similar problem last year on a bunch of laptops. They were all
missing a registry value. Anyway, here is the fix:
    1. Fire up regedit and
    look under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\MSSQLServer
    2. Ensure you have
a string value called BackupDirectory. The value for this should be the path to
your backup dir. The default value is C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
    Server\MSSQL\BACKUP
btw, this fix assumes you have a default instance
installed. A named instance will have slightly different registry location and
    filesystem path.

  • Requery Drop Down after new record added

    Hi,
I have a form built with ADDT. There is a dropdown box tied to the buyers table (ID, Name) and a button to add new buyers. The buyers table has full contact info in it so I can't use the editable drop down. I need to be able to requery the drop down box after the user clicks the add buyer button, which opens a window with the add buyer form, so that it checks the table again and shows the new buyer in the drop down list.
At the moment I have it all working except that when the user adds a new buyer they have to refresh the page, losing any data already entered, in order to see the newly entered data in the drop down. Is there a way to requery the drop down after a new record has been entered or when the user clicks the submit button of the add buyer form? Or, maybe requery when the user clicks on the control again after entering the new buyer?
    Any help is much appreciated,
    Tony

    Thanks again Gunter,
Sorry, I've been out for a few days. I ended up solving the problem by adding a preform search form to search for the buyers in the table before hitting the form. If the buyer isn't there it's added before going to the form. Works for me.
I do have another question about a javascript I've been trying to get working on the same form. It converts numbers in one field to words in another (http://javascript.about.com/library/bltoword.htm) and looks fairly simple, but I think the way ADDT creates the fields names I can't figure out how to make it work. I was able to get it to work on a simple html form, but not the ADDT form. Here's some code with the two fields and the button that calls the javascript. Below that is the call in the head section. The link is also there, but I don't need to post it.
I know this can work but I really could use some help.

  • Help with Dreamweaver CS5 spry menus. Menu is not dropping down in IE7.

    Hello.
We recently upgraded from GoLive CS3 to Dreamweaver CS5. Wow! This has been a big change for us. We are having trouble with a website that we are building, specifically the Spry Menu drop downs not appearing correctly in IE7 and older. While the dropdown menu appears in other browsers, it is not dropping down at all in IE7 and earlier versions. After researching this topic on many websites, including this forum, we are still unable to resolve our particular issue. We have tried many of the suggestions that are common to our problem, but have not found a solution as yet. Could someone please check out this page for us, and possibly give us some advise. We are working on Mac OSX. Thank you in advance for any suggestions you may offer.
    http://www.advertools.net/pgtdemo/index.html

When I added the following to the document
    <style>
    #main_image {position:static;}
    </style>
the menu items appeared albeit in the wrong position.
The reason for the hidden menu items is because #main_image had a position of relative, effectively creating a flow of its own rather than following the natural flow of the document.
Now for the postion of the submenu. If I add the following style rules to the document the submenu items are in the correct position
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal li {text-align: left;}
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal a {text-align: center;}
In the first line I have reset the rule that you had changed to center align and in the second line (which is not in the original CSS) I have aligned the text in the anchor tag to align center.
The reason is that IE<8 behaves differently to other browsers when it comes to list items causing the nested list items (submenu) to align themselves to the center of the text of the parent list item.
    I hope the above helps.

  • Horizontal submenus not dropping down correctly in IE7

Hello, I am hoping somebody can help.

  • Connection between two SQL Azure Databases

We have a requirement to move data (partial data in a table based on policy conditions) between two SQL Azure Databases. Want to know the best possible way to do this.
We are not looking at Data Sync Framework - as this is only a Preview version and we have to use this in an ongoing basis in Production and the volume of data is quite high.
The option that we have currently is to use an on premise stored procedure - that will have two link servers to the source and target SQL Azure Databases and do the data movement in one transaction.
Are there any other better options to do this ? Any pointers will be helpful.

    Hi Kothai Ramanathan,
According to your description, if you just want to moving part of the data from a huge table between two different SQL Server database, you can use
SQL Server replication to sync the part of data via articles. However, in SQL Azure database, it does not support SQL Server replication, if you want to migrate database, as other post, you
can use Data-Tier Application Import and Export or other ways.
In addition, for just moving the part of data,  you can also create two Linked Servers between local SQL Server database and two different SQL azure database. For example, you can get the changed data from the first Linked
Server and saved the data to Local database, then insert these data to the other azure database via the second Linked Server.

  • Backup for Sql Azure Database

    Hi,
We are using the automatic backup option available with Sql Azure , but it is not working for us and throwing the some error. When we raised the ticket for same we had received reply saying this feature is not supported by MS.
Could you please advise what is best approch for taking the backup for Sql Azure Database.
    Regards...

Point in time restore is a great feature to sit along side automated export but not a replacement. Automated Export allows us to keep long term backups (30, 60, 90 days) which are important and also allows the ability to import to my local server a backup
from a previous day for testing or support reasons.
RedGate provide a backup service as well but I was hoping by using PIT restore and automated backup together I would no longer need to pay for that third-party service.

  • Configure SQL Azure database as subscriber

    Hi All,
I have a in-house database and a SQL Azure database (only database). Require to configure replication between these 2 databases (SQL Azure Databasse as Subscriber) . But AFAIK replication require actual subscriber sql server name. Is there a possibility
that i may be able to achieve this task.

    Hi,
    Thanks for posting here.
    http://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/manage/services/sql-databases/getting-started-w-sql-data-sync/
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh456371.aspx
I think the best bet is to use SQL Data Sync, it should gives you bidirectional and we use it currently to sync data around the world in terms of datacenters and one local on premise database. It will only give you 5 mins sync timing but this will probably
do, otherwise the next best options is to use SQL Server VMs and do the old fashion way. But with SQL Azure Data Sync we have found to be reasonable reliable and been running it for a good six months syncing across 4 database in four data centres in Azure.
    Some problems though with it,
    It uses Triggers.
It will obivously add load and connections to your current SQL Database.
It is in preview last time I looked, so it might not be 100% suitable for you

  • Exchange 2013 Database Size didn't reduction after user move another DB.

Hi, I have two Exchange Server Ex01, Ex02 and two database DB1 and DB2. Already we move few user DB1 to DB2 but DB1 database size didn't reduction after move user.
    Md. Ramin Hossain

    Hi ,
If you delete or move a mailbox from a database will not create a free space on that database.Instead a white-space will be created on that database during the online defragmentation and that will not make any changes on the physical size of the database
.Then that white-space will be used when a new mailbox is created on that same database.
In case if you wanted to convert those white space to free space then you need to do an offline defragmentaion and that will make the physical change in the size of the database
Note : For offline defragmentation we should have the database to be in a dismounted state.
    Command for offline defragmentation :
eseutil /d "path of the edb file"
But my suggestion would be to move the mailboxes to the newly created database instead of doing the offline defragmentation to attain the free space .Because it would take too much of time for the large databases to get completed.
Reference link for offline defragmentation :
    http://exchangeserverpro.com/defrag-exchange-2010-mailbox-database/
Command to see the white space on the mailbox database :
ESEUTIL /MS "path of the edb file"
To execute the above we need the database to be in a dismounted state.

  • Spry dropdown menu not dropping down and reversing order cs4

Hi, thank you for reading my post.
I am having problems with my spry menu bar not dropping down when
I upload it to my site, I get bulleted lists. When I preview it, it works fine. Also, the menu is in reverse order (??) I've tried retyping it in the opposite order to see if that fixes it, but somehow it goes back to backwards. It should start with home at the left. I am trying to post my code, but it will not let me paste. How do I paste code? Sorry if thats a silly question.
    Thank you

Hi, thank you for your replies. I set everything to left, which caused it to display correctly in dreamweaver. Thank you! I did enjoy the "wiggle" that I get from the menu items on hover, they move from right to left, will that cause problems if I change one back to right? I still am having trouble getting the menu bar to show on the website, Im still getting bullets.
How do I put the css files? They might be on the site, but not in the right place, where should they be? I also made another site from the same template, and saved it to a folder in my site so it can be previewed. Will that cause problems? Both spry's are not working..... argh! • SPRY menu not dropping down on certain pages

I'm having a lot of problems now that I've uploaded this webpage. I created this webpage in Dreamweaver and used the SPRY menu template and everything worked perfectly in Dreamweaver but now that I have uploaded it I can not use the drop downs on like 7 pages. When you are on the shop page, the dinning page, Living, Directions, Design, Events, and the contact page the SPRY menu will not drop down. Could someone look at my site and perhaps my code and tell me what I am doing wrong on those pages?
    http://discoverclearfield.com/shop.html
    http://discoverclearfield.com/dining.html
there are a couple of the pages that don't work.
    Thanks so much.

Have a look here and come back after you have fixed the markup http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fdiscoverclearfield.com%2Fshop.htm l
