SQL Cluster 2008 RTM related issue- One of the Node is automatically disabiling the Agent XP's. However, all SQL Services are running
Hi All,
Please help. I am having a Prodution SQL 2008 RTM Cluster with two nodes-where node 1 works without any problem. However, if i failover to node 2-Agent xp's are disabled automatically. When i verify the SQL Services are node 2 are running fine.
Checked Agent.out file which did not give much info than below:
2012-09-09 08:00:12 - + [162] Internal request (from SetJobNextRunDate [reason: schedule will not run again]) to deactivate schedule 47
2012-09-15 06:50:30 - ? [131] SQLSERVERAGENT service stopping due to a stop request from a user, process, or the OS...
2012-09-15 06:50:41 - ? [098] SQLServerAgent terminated (normally)
I have verified that hardware and software of both nodes are identical. Still ,this issue persists always.
Please let me know the solution for this. it really pressurise on Production having one node active and other not active.

Two external hard drive are not appearing on the desktop anymore on my 2008 24" iMac. One is a Lacie d2 Quadra and the other is a G Drive. Both are 1 Tb
Are they daisy chained? Have you tried them one at a time? Have you tried a different FireWire cable? Do they show up in either system profiler or Disk Utility? Have you reset the SMC? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

Services are running in Server 2008. But still not able to telnet on localhost
Hello Everybody,
Desired services are running on server but still telnet on localhost not happening.
From remote server I am able to telnet on same services.
I am facing issue while doing telnet to remote server alos.
Is there anything which could stopping telnet operation.
From same server I am not able to telnet to other server for SQL services, whereas both servers in same LAN with adjacent IP address.Hi Steven,
Thanks for response.
I have checked same. Services are listening on desired port.
From events log we observed that server moving out of domain controller which root cause not identified yet.
Will it be possible if sever moving out of domain and getting NETLOGON issue. Which could block communication to other server or localhost telnet.

How does one tell if the J2EE services are running with Unlimited
How does one tell if the J2EE services are running with Unlimited
security? We have applied the export Policy to the server but we do notsee any reference to it running with it. .we apply the Service packs SAP now upgrades that JAVA as well . Do that process treat the JAVA
lib/security area correctly.Just out of curiosity... Is there something you do
like about Mac/Apple?
To answer your question: no, not really. However, the points that I made here were about Safari and accompanying utilities, not about Apple in general.
If it makes you feel any better, I am just as, or even more, critical of Micro$oft as the occasions arise...Windoze Vista is the most recent occasion and has given sufficient reasons and opportunities to vent my spleen that I actually have eased up on Apple, politicians, nut-case religious extremists, cell phone owners, and the Department of Homeland Paranioa, etc., due to an exhaustion of creative energy. -
I deleted one of the email accounts from my i5 because I don't like all the password popups since upgradingto ios 7.2, and now ALL calendar entries are gone! I need them!!! Can anyone help?
Well you need to add the email account back to get the calendar entries. Transfer them to another email provider. Then delete the account you don't want.

TFT 11.3 ZENworks Loader services are running on one
Hi,
I Upgraded 11.2.2 to 11.3 . The Problem is that All bundle scheduled at boot device are not working for windows7 after this update .
I saw a patch on "FTF Roll Up 1 for ZENworks" but when I want to deploy this path the following message appeared!
The wizard cannot continue for the following reason(s):
ErrorUnable to complete your request for the following reason: The ZENworks Server or the ZENworks Loader services are running on one or more Primary Servers. Shut down the services before proceeding
Question: what are the step by step method to install this patch?
Thank youThank you Shaun, in my lab test, your step by step method is working. What is the step to upgrade the PC computer ? I'll explain : The PC have Zenworks client 11.2.3, I upgraded the server to 11.3 and after I installed the patch TFT on the server after 1 day. My last question : Should I deploy the patch TFT only to upgrade the client because the TFT rebuilted the new software client on server or should I deploy the 11.3 update and after install the patch TFT on the PC?
Thanks Shaun for your follow-up, Pierre -
SQL Server 2008 Express Setup Issue SKU
Hi,
a configuration file driven setup worked on roughly 30 machines without problems.
However, on one certain machine (which is costumer owned in Saudi Arabia) the installation seems to
be blocked at an early stage. Logfiles reporting something about "SKU", but this makes not clear for me
what the problem is.
The Summary.txt is pasted, below this Details.txt is placed (the bottom part which contains the error portion).
Thanks for help in advance!

Good morning all! I work for a small business that uses a robust Accounting/Inventory database called Traverse (or Open Systems) and is run on a desktop computer using SQL Server 2008 Express.
We don't have an IT department, but I have a bit of knowledge, so I've been the go-to person to handle any tech support issues in our tiny 5 person office. I've been reading up on SQL Server 2008 Express, but am completely stumped on this issue.
Our database would work consistently well for quite a while - sometimes getting disconnected from the server and requiring a restart of either the SQL Server itself or the Traverse License Server.
About two weeks ago, I noticed that nobody had ever run Windows Update on the desktop that we have SQL Server on, so I spent the better part of a day updating everything, hoping it would help some of the little buggy issues we've been having. Unfortunately,
by applying the updates, I think it may have altered settings - or updated appropriately and our functionality is diminished.
Basically, we have 3 users connecting into the server to use the database at any time. Sometimes we might not be accessing information constantly, and it appears we're getting a timeout message in the SQL Server Log - stating the system was awoken
by user activity after around 25-30 minutes. When this happens, the system is painfully slow and locks up, giving SQL Server Connection errors, or the "This SqlTransaction has completed; it is no longer usable." message. I noticed that
there is a connection timeout of 15 seconds set for our SQL Server, but it's greyed out in the dialog box I saw it in, and am not sure if that's even a culprit.
I'd just like to get this working again to where we can continue to use the database throughout the day without waiting for it to seemingly load all of the data after "waking up". It's to a point that one of my employees is coming into my
office every 5 minutes complaining that she can't do anything in Traverse. I'm about to lose my mind!
If anyone has any clue what could be the issue, I'd be so grateful for help. If you need any logs, messages, etc.. please let me know which and I will share them. Thank you again! This is known as the Zombie Check exception. It is generally caused by trying to commit a transaction twice or trying to roll back a committed transaction. It can also be caused by a connection closing before the transaction is complete. In you case I would
suspect the latter.
See this article on setting the default timeout.

SQL cluster 2008 R2 migration to new Hardware in VM
Hi,
We have a task to migrate existing Physical SQL Cluster DB to new Hardware but in VM. (cannot argue with the client)
hence our plan is to install new Cluster in VM with same Windows and SQL version i.e Win 2K8 R2 ENT w/SP and SQL 2K8
R2 STD w/SP and use SQL mirroring option for the DB to migrate on the new Server (keeping the downtime to as low as possible and advantage of bringing the old server online in case of any issues..)
Below points are for a single instance, couple of DB to migrate:
Keep the physical production server running
In-Parallel build New SQL Cluster in VM (keep same version windows/sql)
Keep Same drive letter for Quorum, MSDTC, DATA, LOG & Backup
Keep the same Instance Name, SQL Network Name can be different (will be changed to old network name once the PROD is shutdown)
Check all logins windows and SQL to be same on both the clusters
Copy all the jobs, SSIS packages etc.. .create the location folder as per current server on the VM SQL Cluster
Perform full backup of old cluster company-db databases or use the existing latest backup (full, differential, transaction)
Restore databases in the new cluster with no recovery so additional log file or differential backup can be restored
Create SQL Mirroring for the Database and select the principal server (old cluster) and the mirror server (new VM cluster)
Choose mirroring without witness ( no auto failover as we don’t need the old server later)
Start the mirroring – (hopefully everything synchronized and working)
During the downtime –
Stop the application/ client connection – if possible
Failover the DB through Mirroring option
Once the mirrored server becomes Principal and data is accessible – stop the mirroring
Now the new VM SQL Cluster DB is online
Shutdown the old cluster company-db (Node1 & Node2)
Come back to VM SQL Cluster and change the Network name to the old server network name (so that client connections are not affected)
Check if the DNS entries are updated with correct name and IP address
Delete DNS entries for old company-db on DNS Servers if not deleted, delete the old server SQL network name in computer object
Stop SQL Resources on the new VM SQL Cluster (take it offline all the resources)
Bring online the SQL Resource and make sure the SQL resources are online and new network name is reachable
Wait till you see machine name company-db in active directly (AD) and DNS server will have entry for company-db
Verify connectivity for company-db from outside.
If things are not going as per the plan then shut down the new VM cluster
Revert back the DNS settings
Power up the Old SQL Server
The DB will show “restoring mode” – use command to make it online “RESTORE DATABASE (dbname) WITH RECOVERY”
Check the DB
Start using the OLD server again
Troubleshoot the failed scenario ;)
Need to know if the above steps are okay, and any consideration once the new VM SQL Cluster is online.
Kindly let me know if there anything else to transfer apart from the logins, jobs, folder location etc.. !!
Many ThanksHello,
Well if you don’t change the instance name (name = ABC) then its OK.
Try the following resources about transferring SQL Server logins:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918992/en-us
http://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/2081/transfer-sql-server-jobs-task-and-transfer-sql-server-logins-task-in-ssis/
Hope this helps.

SQL Cluster 2008 R2 Geocluster configuration with 2 VIP
Hi All,
If anyone has configure 2008 R2 Geo-cluster accross database center in different subnet. I'm interested to know whether is it possible we can cofigure cluster with 2 VIP and both VIP in different subnet e.g primarary DC VIP
is 10.20.x.x and secondary DC VIP 10.144.x.x.
Please help meMultiple virtual IPs are not supported in SQL Server 2008. The only approach you can go with is implementing a stretched VLAN across the data centers

thanks In advanceIf "Credentials supplied by the user running the report" is selected, when the report is run, the user will be prompted to provide credentials. They would need to provide credentials that have the appropriate permissions (e.g., read, execute) to the
database. This prevents the double hop.
If "Credentials stored securely in the report server" is selected, you have to enter the username and password of a user (or service account) that has the appropriate permissions (e.g., read, execute) to the database. When the report is run, SSRS will use
these stored credentials each time to authenticate to the database engine and query the data. Users running the report are not prompted to provide credentials. With this option you can use an Active Directory or SQL Server account.
In order to access/run the report, a user will need to authenticate to SSRS. There are options here as well. You can provide them the link to the report manager and they can authenticate, navigate to, and run the report. You can also provide
direct links to reports that users click in a document or application. At this point the user is typically still prompted to authenticate to SSRS. You can also programmatically call the report using API's and essentially build a proxy that authenticates
to SSRS and open the report.
Not sure if that answers your question. -
I have used SSRS a lot years ago with Sql Server 2000 and Sql Server 2005. I have written external assemblies, ... But now I have to do this with Sql Server 2008 (R2 -- which I realize I am way behind the times already but ...) in sql server 2000 and
2005 there was a tab for datasource to the left of the tab for design which was to the left of the preview tab. How do I get to the datasource window in sql server 2008 (r2) ?
I see that datasource explorer. But where can I get to the datasource window to edit my queries and so forth for sql server 2008 (R2)?
Thanks
Rich PI think I found the answer to my question --- just right-click on the the Data Sources or Datasets for editing connections and dataset queries. I'm guessing it gets even fancier with Sql Svr 2012 - 2014. Man, that's the one thing
about coding platforms -- you let it go for a few years and come back, and everything has changed (well, a lot of things). Now I need to figure out how to add an external assembly to SSRS 2008 (R2).

I am trying to install SQL Server 2008 in my local machine. However, I kept running into errors with the following error message:
"The MOF Compiler could not connect with the WMI Server. This is either because of a semantic error such as an incompatibility with the existing WMI repository or an actual error such
as the failure of the WMI Server to start".
I also ran "rundll32 wbemupgd, UpgradeRepository" to rebuild WMI repository, it doesn't help either. I got the same error message.
Any ideas what settings I need to change in order to ensure a successful installation of SQL Server 2008?"The MOF Compiler could not connect with the WMI Server. This is either because of a semantic error such as an incompatibility with the existing WMI repository or an actual error such

can you check below two links.Make sure previous failed installation is removed completely.

Solution given by Connect MS is:
Possibly the issue was caused by uninstalling from add-remove programs - at any rate, using aaron bertrand's suggestion below fixed the issue. Also of note - I used the local admin for the install.
http://sqlblog.com/blogs/aaron_bertrand/archive/2009/02/20/the-xp-sp3-msxml6-sp2-sql-server-debacle.aspx
yes - remove msxml6 and any other half installed portion of sql 2008 and REBOOT and install sql

After patching the node, the node is not joining the cluster.
Dear All,
We are having a two node suncluster with below release
Sun Cluster 3.2u1 for Solaris 10 sparc
Copyright 2008 Sun Microsystems, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
And nodes are
Node Name Status
scrbdomdefrm005 Online
scrbdomderue005 Offline
We are patching the nodes with 2q 2009 quarter patches, first we patched the node scrbdomderue005. we have followed the below step to patch the server.
1) Our root d0 has d1(c0t0d0s0) and d2(c1t0d0s0)
2) we have detached the d2 from d0; metaclear d2
3) mount the c1t0d0s0 /mnt
4) use the patchadd -R /mnt to patch the server. While patching we got only one error the patch 126106-27 need to be install in noncluster mode.
5) switch the RG's from node scrbdomderue005 to scrbdomdfrm005.
6) shutdown the scrbdomderue005, boot the scrbdomderue005 with c1t0d0s0 in noncluster-single user mode, and installed the patch 126106-27 and it was successful.
7) shutdown the scrbdomderue005, boot the scrbdomderue005 with c1t0d0s0 in clustermode, and we are getting the following error.

exit from console.
We are able to boot the node scrbdomderue005 in noncluster-mode and it was successful., please check the below details.
scrbdomderue005:/# uname -a
SunOS scrbdomderue005 5.10 Generic_138888-07 sun4u sparc SUNW,SPARC-Enterprise
scrbdomderue005:/#
Before pathcing the server scrbdomderue005 the kernel version was.
SunOS scrbdomderue005 5.10 Generic_137111-07 sun4u sparc SUNW,SPARC-Enterprise
If i boot the scrbdomderue005 with d1(c0t0d0s0), the server is properly joining the cluster without issue.
could any one please guide me, what could be the problem... how to resolve the issue.Hi
I could be because you have installed patch 138888. It has problems with nxge interfaces used as interconnect.
