SQL Developer in the cloud environment

Hi,
I installed SQL developer as an Administrator in the cloud environment and it is working fine. I also have an user and granted Administrator privs to him ,a nd copied the SQL developer exe to his desktop, but when he runs it SQL developer does not even open, how to fix it?

How on earth is this cloud based? You physically copying an executable from a server to a client machine is NOT what cloud computing is about. There is NOTHING cloud-like about it. This is STANDARD copy-software, install-software-on-client and execute-software-on-client approach. This is not SAAS.
-- Might as well be not a cloud computing thing, but my scenario is SQL developer is installed in the Administrator space and when logged in etc., i works fine there. When the same exe is copied to an user with admin rights he is not able to open the application. My goal is, so the user also is able to run SQL developer remotely logging in and run it. He is also running Windows 7.
Or lacks the proper JDK/JRE on the client to run.
-- This could be closer to solving the issue, in the user space we do not have JDK/JRE installed, so do we have to install JDK/JRE in the user login space as well? My initial thought was since I copied the exe from teh admin to the user, he should be automatically able to do the same stuff as admin.Basic prinicple of computing. Not all .exe files are standalone executable. Some require 'other libraries' to run.

  • Login to SQL Developer as the SYS user for Getting Started tutorial

    I went to try and do the following tutorial to learn about SQL Developer 3.0, but I cannot get started because I'm unable to perform Prerequisite #3.
    How do I "Login to SQL Developer as the SYS user"?
    Dave
    Getting Started with Oracle SQL Developer 3.0
    Prerequisites
    Before starting this tutorial, you should:
    1 .
    Install Oracle SQL Developer 3.0 from OTN. Follow the readme instructions here.
    2 .
    Install Oracle Database 11g with the Sample schema.
    3.
    Unlock the HR user. Login to SQL Developer as the SYS user and execute the following command:
    alter user hr identified by hr account unlock;
    Note: This tutorial is developed using Oracle SQL Developer 3.0.
    4 .
    Download and unzip the files.zip to a local folder on your file system. In this tutorial, we use the C:\sqldev3.0 folder.

    I installed XE. It asked me to set up a username and password during the install.
    How do I login as the SYS user, though?
    There is a Connection Name, Username, and Password field when I try to set up a connection in SQL Developer, and I used the username and password I made during the install. I clicked the Test button to test the connection.
    I see "Status: Failure -Test failed: ORA-28009: connection as SYS should be as SYSDBA or SYSOPER".
    How do I tell SQL Developer "as SYSDBA or SYSOPER"?
    Sorry, this is probably easy, and I'm just clueless about it.

  • Oracle SQL Developer  error - "The file-based source procedure Name is not present in the database."

    I recently started working on the Oracle SQL developer. I have 'select' privileges on the QA schema and when tried to execute proc in QA. It is giving the error as 'The file-based source <procedure Name>  is not present in the database.  Was it compiled?'
    instead 'you do not have sufficient privileges to execute this procedure'. Did research on internet but with no luck.What configuration changes needed to be done to make it work.Guide me.

    Sounds like you do not have the correct privileges.  What should have been granted to you by the QA user, or some other user with appropriate privileges, is...
    grant EXECUTE on "QA"."<PROCEDURE_OF_INTEREST>" to "<YOUR_USERID>" ;
    Note that a grant of execute on a procedure has nothing to do with grants of select on some or all of QA's tables and views.
    So, as Vadim suggests, from your connection node in SQL Developer's Connections view, if you expand the Other Users node, then expand QA and look in the Procedures node, do you see the procedure of interest?  If not, you cannot expect to be able to execute it from your userid's connection. And even if you do see it, you may have some other privilege that permits viewing but not executing, like...
    The role SELECT_CATALOG_ROLE
    The system privilege SELECT ANY DICTIONARY
    And even if you do not see it there, then having certain other privileges granted to you could permit executing it in general, like...
    The role EXECUTE_CATALOG_ROLE
    The system privilege EXECUTE ANY PROCEDURE
    Also, note that the 3.0 release is a bit dated nowadays. Upgrading to 4.0.3 production or even the 4.1 EA2 (early adopter) release will, in general, give you a better experience.
    Best wishes,
    Gary

    I set the database URL to the URL I used to reach the APEX page...https://databasetrial1875-******.db.us1.oraclecloudapps.com/apex/
    I set the SFTP username to the username listed next to 'Service SFTP User Name' on the dashboard

    Hi,
    You have to use the admin account to add the admin role to the developer account. Can you please try this and let me know of your feedback.
    The settings you added look good, and the you have the latest version of Sql DEVELOPER     , ...so this should be an issue.
    Maybe you have some firewall setting on your computer, that are blocking the connection?
    If , after checking all of the above you still have an issue, please contact oracle support via the chat on the cloud.oracle.com and ask the engineer to open a Service Request under your name.
    Thanks,
    Flori

  • SQL Developer 3.1.07 does not show a Tables entry under the Navigator

    Installed SQL Developer 3.1.07. Under my Connections window, I log into the SYSTEM account. There is NO tables entry. SYSTEM has access to all tables in the database. It's the same behavior for other database users as well.
    I re-installed SQL Developer 3.0.04 and a Tables entry DOES appear for the same SYSTEM user connected to the same database.

    Hi J,
    I was under the impression that regardless of the Java version that my environment variables are setup to use,
    the installation of SQL Developer (when you install with a JDK), that the JDK version installed with SQL Developer
    is the one that is used.Exactly correct, unless you decide to override it in the conf file. I needed to be certain you did not.
    Anyway, trying to resolve the problem, let's go back to a possibility that something went wrong with the migration of your preference settings. Here is an old thread discussing a missing Tables node in the Connection view (sometimes called the navigator tree):
    Table node missing from navigator tree in 3.0.04
    The poster had to rename the system directory containing these settings, then ignore the offer to migrate settings upon starting up SQL Developer again. If you never migrated settings in the first place, then I'm not sure what more to say -- probably would require additional research here in the forum. But if you did migrate settings, then try the following:
    1. Export your connections (Connections node | right-click | Export Connections...)
    2. Exit SQL Developer
    3. Rename the directory to something else
    4. Restart SQL Developer
    5. Import your connections
    That directory on my Windows 7 machine for the current production release is something like:
    C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\SQL Developer\system3.1.07.42
    Hope this helps,

  • How to get the last transaction in a row in SQL Developer?

    What syntax would I use to get the last transaction of a row in SQL developer?

  • Apex report result doesn't agree with the result of sql developer

    Hello guys,
    at the moment I try to create a standard report which takes his content from several spreadsheets. Because of some problems with the searchbar I'm not able to use an interactive report. The sql query contains a function, which sets some space characters into the content of a column. But there is a big problem. When I call my sql query in apex from the spreadsheets the result doesn't agree with the result which affords the sql developer.
    I know that the sql developer affords the right result.

    I have looked at various threads in the forums here but I'm still stymied why the connection seems to be ok, yet sql developer has problems with it. If I create an ssh tunnel so sql developer only has to connect to localhost it works:

    Hi Ali,
    This may be of varoius reasons..
    Is the database that you are connecting on the same PC?
    You have specified Hostname: localhost.
    If not please replace it with the IP of that server.
    Else please check whether the database listener is started or not. if not please start the listener.
    Check the SID by tnsping command.
    Hope this will help you..
    Thanks

  • SQL Developer 2.1 removes the stored password in SVN Application Data

    Hello everybody
    SQL Developer is a great Tool and I use it together with the SVN Versioning System. I also use TortoiseSVN on my Windows XP Operating System, that's why I found out that either the SQL Developer or its SVN Extension has a bug.
    I have installed the latest SQL Developer 2.1.0.63.73 and the extension "*Versioning Support for Subversion* 11.1.1.2.36.55.30".
    Both Tools the SVN Extension for SQL Developer and the TortoiseSVN save Authentification Data automatically in the same Folder "C:\Documents and Settings\UserXYZ\Application Data\Subversion\auth\svn.simple\" into some Files.
    When I use TortoiseSVN, the password can be stored in those mentioned Files. That's very useful, so I don't have to enter my password every time I perform a SVN command. But when I later use SQL Developer and update/commit some file, the password will be removed from the above mentioned Files, even though my Password is stored in the SQL Developer's Subversion Navigator inside the Connection Setup of my Repository.
    I would be happy to get some feedback from your point of view. Are there other people who have the same problem?
    I turned already to google, but I haven't found a hint that it could be something you can configure in some properties.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ben

    In the meantime I found the solution:
    just add those two lines to the *%appdata%\Subversion\config* File
    store-auth-creds = no
    store-passwords = yes
    It looks like the SVN Extension in SQL Developer has different Default Values for the properties than TortoiseSVN has.

    It shows the raw binary data unless it is a JPEG, GIF or PNG where you can see a picture.

    The External Editor pane determines which external editor is called by SQL Developer when you try to edit binary large object (BLOB) data, such as image files, video files, and other files created by certain applications. For each combination of MIME type and file extension, you can specify the executable application to be used to open and edit associated files.

    Thank you for any help,
    Ann

    The solution in https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2594033 worked.  I added the 2nd line below to /opt/sqldeveloper/sqldeveloper.sh.
    #!/bin/bash
    unset -v GNOME_DESKTOP_SESSION_ID
    cd "`dirname $0`"/sqldeveloper/bin && bash sqldeveloper $*
    Previously, I incorrectly updated ~/.bashrc to unset GNOME_DESKTOP_SESSION_ID.  That's why running Sql Developer from the command line worked, but not from the launcher.
    Thanks su.

  • SQL Developer and Blocking View of Other Users' Objects

    I am using SQL Developer in a classroom environment. My student users can “see” Other Users objects. They cannot modify, but none the less can see the structure and data.
    I only want the users to be able to see their own objects. Is there a privilege that needs to be revoked? (In using SQL Plus command line, this was not a problem.)
    Thanks.

    Karen,
    From sysdba account (sys/system). Run following and verify for that particular user grant is revoked. May be exit from sql developer and log back in or refresh view.
    YOu can also potenially revoke all the privs from all non admin uses i.e.r even connect/resource roles and grant them back.
    revoke select any table from yourschemaname;
    revoke connect from schemaname;
    revoke create session from  schemaname;
    revoke resource from schemaname;
    Then just grant privs as need basis
    grant connect to schemanme;
    grant resource to schemaname;
    grant create session to schemaname;
    ..Regards
