SQL Function problem

Hello Everyone,
I have created a function in SQL Server 2005 through coding using Sapbobs->Recordset Object.It works well in Sql Server 2005.But on a machine using SQl Server 2000 the same doesnt  work.What could be the problem.Updating the machine to 2005 is not an option.Do i have to change anything in coding for create function?
Please help
raghu

I tried to use temporary tables in place of CTE,but the problem it says is
Cannot acces temporary tables from within a function

  • Problem with empty report parameters when passed to PL/SQL function

    Hi,
    We have come across what appears to be a bug in the JRC. When passing a report parameter to a PL/SQL function as a parameter, empty parameters are changed before being sent to the function. More specifically, an empty string "" ends up as the value "(')" in the PL/SQL function parameter. In our report we print the report parameters on the first page so we know that the parameters are OK before being passed to the database.
    The problem exists for version 12.2.203, 12.2.204 and 12.2.205 of the JRC.
    We have identified a workaround, but it is not exactly elegant: Before executing the report we modify all empty  parameters ("") to " " . In the PL/SQL function, we trim all parameters before using them.
    We call the function using a command object with a sql syntax like this example:
    select * from table (qa_batch_release.get_qa_br('{?p_report_id}','{?p_reg_set_number}','{?p_cr_number}','{?p_change_id_decode}','{?p_country_id}','{?p_mfg_item_no}','{?p_4_no}','{?p_5_no}','{?p_7_no}'))
    The PL/SQL function is a table returning function.
    Best regards, Thor

    Hi Kishore,
    using #COLUMN_VALUE# would probably not make much sense, because normally a report has multiple columns and not just the numeric column which you want to verify if it's negative. But APEX will fire the template condition for each column, because the report template is a column cell template.
    What you can do to make it more generic is to use for example
    #CHECK_AMOUNT#
    in the template and provide a not displayed column in your SQL statement which contains your value which is named CHECK_AMOUNT. For example:
    SELECT NAME
         , BALANCE
         , BALANCE AS CHECK_AMOUNT
    FROM XXX;Because this CHECK_AMOUNT column would be a generic name, you can use this template in all your reports as long as you provide this column.
    Thope that helps

  • Problem when calling a return type BOOLEAN SQL Function in a package

    Hi All,
    I am having problem when trying to call a SQL function in a package with return type BOOLEAN
    The SQL function signature is as follows
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE RMSOWNER.ORDER_ATTRIB_SQL ****
    FUNCTION GET_PO_TYPE_DESC(O_error_message IN OUT VARCHAR2,

    I get the following exception, i tried changing the sql type(registerOutParameter) from boolean to bit but i still getting this exception.
    But when i call any other functions with return type other than boolean they work perfectly fine.
    Please can anyone help me fix this issue, i am not sure if its anything to do with vendor JDBC classes?

  • Problems with different received message from sql function

    Hello all!
    I have a little problem with my BPEL process. I call a sql function that returns a string. In this string I have a xml. The returned message can be something like:
    <error><id>id_error</id><message>descr_error</message></error>
    or
    <comm>
    <header>
    children tags
    </header>
    <body>
    children tags
    </body>
    </comm>
    As you see, I can receive two types of messages. Of course, the process transforms string -> xml.
    Depending on the type, the process must choose between two flows.
    My questions are: what should be the solution(the steps) to determine what type of message the function returns? In my project, where should I define the same message types in order to assignate them to a variable? In a xsd?
    Thanks in advance!!

    seems like you could solve this with a <pick>. Take a look at the section "One Request, One of Two Possible Responses" in chapter 13 of the bpel developer guide.

    Your code is in a default value for an item, right?
    You need to make sure :P33_YEAR is not null and handle the error in the PL/SQL if it is.
    How is P33_YEAR populated? do you pass it in? check to see if it is making it there..

  • Problem  pl/sql function as web service in OAS as omni portlet

    Dear All,
    I try to use pl/sql function from package as web service in OAS as omni portlet. This function returning, for example, the result of searching as number of rows (Id, name).
    As I have understood, OAS omni portlets understands only J2EE 1.3(oracle) web service (which is chosen on the first step of the making the service from PL/SQL). Since in the event of choice J2EE 1.3(JAX-PRC) OAS can not analyse the answer SOAP on elements.
    I try return types:
    1. xml. Kind of <rowset><row><id>1</id><name>John</name></row><rowset>.
    2. ref cursor – can`t use
    3. varray of records – can`t use.
    At the best, answer recognizes as line, rather then as array element.
    Thank you in advance for answer

  • Passing Multiple Values from a worksheet to PL/SQL function.

    Hi All,
    Is there any way to pass multiple values selected in a worksheet to a PL/SQL function ?
    I will try to explain the scenario:
    We have a crosstab report that showing all the customer details, deposit sum of a customer in each date in a date range selected. With the customer details we are showing the Rank of a customer based on the deposit in the latest date selected. Filtering is based on the rank, ie Top50 or Top60 etc.( As I said rank is calculating based on the deposit in the latest date).This is working fine.
    Now the new requirement is to : For example, in Top50 report, list all the customers, who were in the Top50 list, in any of the dates selected. We are able to display the daywise rank, but when giving a condition like daywiserank <= 50, the result becomes uncertain. Some blank lines, wrong amounts etc..
    As a work around we tried to find out the rank in a PL/SQL function. But the issue there is : we have some multiple value parameters used in the worksheet.
    Is there any way to pass multiple values selected in a worksheet to a PL/SQL function ?
    Or any other work arounds for the scenario explained?
    Reagrds,

    Hi Russ,
    Thanks for the response.
    Russ Proudman wrote:
    1. I thought there was an analytical function similar to rank - or maybe an option of rank - that if there are duplicate records to have them all considered the same rank. So if you had 3 records all the same as rank=2 then a condition saying where rank=2 would return the 3 records. You could check into this.
    We are already using DENSE_RANK. But the issue is the output contains incorrect null values nd repeated rows.
    We got it solved as I explained in the previous post. But will that AGGREGATION MODE setting ( Which discoverer says - not recommended) have any issue? I mean side effects?
    Russ Proudman wrote:
    2. Another thought is that you can create a PL/SQL routine - that's called from a SQL function registered in Discoverer - where a table is created that does the first part of your query. Then a worksheet is created to use the data from that table. So, in essence, the table would have your top50 ranked customers. Then you can write any kind of worksheet against that table. However, DBAs are loath to allow tables - that they didn't create! - many times in a PROD environment.
    Here also the same problem will occur: as the top 50 will depend upon the parameters. I cannot pass those parameters to PL/SQL Function.And storing the top50 ( itmay be top100 or to 150 also) for all combinations of the parameters is impossible
    Russ Proudman wrote:
    3. Finally, are you sure you're rank function is correct in that if you're getting blank lines, maybe the 'over' part is not considering all columns needed to determine the rank?
    Yes the query we are using is correct. The output QUERY of discoverer gives correct results in Sqlplus.

  • PL/SQL function body returning SQL - report error:ORA-01403: no data found

    Hi,
    I am working on Application Express 4.0.2.00.06, and 11G database.
    I have a problem with classic report area of type - PL/SQL function body returning SQL query. Query works if I define region area as - Use Generic Column Names (parse query at runtime only), and does not when I define it - Use Query-Specific Column Names and Validate Query.
    I am getting error:
    report error:ORA-01403: no data found
    This is my query that is returned from function, and displayed with htp.p, and it works ok and returns data in SQL Developer and SQL Workshop (in Apex).

  • Region source (PL/SQL function body returning SQL query)

    Hi, guys.
    Here is what i try to do:
    Create a region of type SQL Query (PL/SQL function body returning SQL query). In the source area i tried to put this:
    DECLARE
    v_new VARCHAR2(10);
    v_SQL varchar2(32000);
    BEGIN
    v_new := :P102_HDN_NEW;
    -- htp.p(v_new);
    IF v_new = 'N-Set' THEN
    v_SQL := 'select ' ||
    ELSIF v_new = 'Y-Set' THEN
    v_SQL := 'select ' ||
    END IF;
    RETURN v_SQL;
    END;
    And here is the reply from APEX:
    1 error has occurred
    Query cannot be parsed within the Builder. If you believe your query is syntactically correct, check the ''generic columns'' checkbox below the region source to proceed without parsing. The query can not be parsed, the cursor is not yet open or a function returning a SQL query returned without a value.
    Now.
    1. Variable is set with the right value.
    2. Each statement (separately) returns SQL that works with no problems
    3. Problem occures if i try to put IF statement around the SQL creation.
    4. If i select "Use Generic Column Names (parse query at runtime only)" instead of "Use Query-Specific Column Names and Validate Query" then the script returns SQL properly, however report's column names are set to Col1, Col2,Col3 ......

  • How do i use PL/SQL function in filter operator

    Hi,
    i want to use one pl/sql function in filter operator. how do i use it in filter condition.
    error i am getting is
    " error occured during expression validatation.
    my filter condition is
    INOUTGRP1.LAST_UPDATE_DATE > "GET_LAST_UPDATE_DATE"()
    can any one suggest me what is the problem for this error.
    Regards,
    Jyothy

    I tried and getting the same error. don't know why!!
    However, There is another way of accomplishing it.
    You can add a "Mapping Input Parameter" to your mapping and in the default value field call the function "Get_Last_Update_date". Then add the output field from this operator to the filter operator. Then edit the filter condition to replace the function call with output value from the Input parameter operator.
    This should work...

  • How to user HTMLDB_COLLECTIONS in a PL/SQL function?

    Hi!
    I am trying to validate/check that an item from an updateable report is not in a collection before I add the item. I wrote a PL/SQL function to do this. It appears that a "normal" PL/SQL function cannot correctly see the HTMLDB_COLLLECTIONS view. The idea for this was posted to the forum about using a decode statement and a function to detemine whether to display the link value or not for each row. If an item has been added to the collection I want to not display the link. If the item is removed from the collection I need to redisplay the link.
    I have tried validations but they depend on the page being resumbitted. And I tried to force that using a branch where the request was = 'ADD'. However everytime I set it up as a redirect to a URL it kept resetting the branch to a 'branch to a page within this application'.
    Any suggestions on how to check the HTMLDB_COLLECTIONS before it is updated?
    This is V2.0.
    Thanks! Dave Venus

    Hi!
    Yes things work much better when run from within the "application". I had been trying to test the code from both SQL*Plus and from the SQL WorkShop.
    The problem I was having even within the application was that I was getting back NULL return values. So I put some exception handling into the code and trapped the
    data_not_found and others exceptions. I also had SQL%NOTFOUND code in my function. It appears the SQL%NOTFOUND was not being processed and the exception code was. I can paste the code I was using here if you want.
    I went another way around the problem and rewrote the query (esp. the where clause) for the report and it seems to be doing what I need now. I would love to get the function working and understand how it should have worked so that I can use that functionallity in other applications.
    Thanks!

  • Invoking a PL/SQL function from BPEL throws fault.

    Hi, I'm trying to invoke a PL/SQL function that inserts data in to a table from a BPEL via DB Adapter. The process, when I test it, throws a runtime fault as follows:
    *Exception occured when binding was invoked. Exception occured during invocation of JCA binding: "JCA Binding execute of Reference operation 'EmpRegister' failed due to: JCA Binding Component connection issue. JCA Binding Component is unable to create an outbound JCA (CCI) connection. AddEmployee:EmpRegister [ EmpRegister_ptt::EmpRegister(InputParameters,OutputParameters) ] : The JCA Binding Component was unable to establish an outbound JCA CCI connection due to the following issue: BINDING.JCA-12510 JCA Resource Adapter location error. Unable to locate the JCA Resource Adapter via .jca binding file element <connection-factory/> The JCA Binding Component is unable to startup the Resource Adapter specified in the <connection-factory/> element: location='eis/DB/DBConn_215'. The reason for this is most likely that either 1) the Resource Adapters RAR file has not been deployed successfully to the WebLogic Application server or 2) the '<jndi-name>' element in weblogic-ra.xml has not been set to eis/DB/DBConn_215. In the last case you will have to add a new WebLogic JCA connection factory (deploy a RAR). Please correct this and then restart the Application Server ". The invoked JCA adapter raised a resource exception. Please examine the above error message carefully to determine a resolution.*
    Also, the fault description was a s follows:
    *JCA Resource Adapter location error. Please correct this and then restart the Application Server.*
    I know, it looks like a JCA adapter error, but when I do a DB to DB table synchronization with this connection factory, no problems happen. Is ther any special procedure I should follow in mapping input data to db schema?

  • SQL query (pl/sql function body returning query) performance issue

    I create my report in building my sql instruction with ( SQL Query pl/sql function body returning sql query );
    My report take more than 20 seconds however if i did a cut and paste with the sql code in TOAD the same sql take 1 second.
    To try to discover the source of the problem; i take the sql generated by the function and i create another report ( sql query ) this new report take 2 seconds.
    My query is very big 25,000 characters with database link.
    What is the difference between SQL-quey and sql-query(pl/sql function body returning sql query)
    Thanks
    Marc

    Marc,
    Firstly...don't compare the timings from Toad, since often Toad only fetches the first few records for you (i.e. it pages them).
    Secondly....the database link could be a factor here, but without seeing your query it's too hard to say.
    Can you post the query somewhere (on a webserver say)?
