SQL generated by EIS for Drill Through

Hello,<BR>We are currently using EIS 7.1 on AIX. When we run a drill through report on a large flat dimensional member there are two separate SQLs generated. The first SQL has a where condition with appx. half of the child members and the second one with second half. Is this due to any kind of limitation on he length of the SQL generated?<BR>If so is there any way to work around with this?<BR>THanks a lot in advance<BR>Kris

Hi Michael,
I have got the following inputs from the OLAP forum on this query:

How to see the SQL (OLAP DML) generated by Discoverer for OLAP
Posted: Aug 30, 2007 9:30 AM Reply
Hi,
I originally posted this query on the Discoverer forum, but it was then suggested to post it here in the OLAP forum. Please help.........
Is there a way to see the SQL (OLAP DML) generated by Discoverer for OLAP (the way we have "View SQL" in Discoverer Relational). The version in use is 10.1.2.48.18.
Thanks,

Directly within Discoverer for OLAP (or Viewer)? No - because there is no way to change the behaviour of the generated SQL, you cannot add hints or create any MVs to change the SQL generated. You can trace the SQL generated during a Disco for OLAP query though by switching on some of the OLAP tuning and diagnostic features. There is more information contained in the Discoverer for OLAP Best Practices Guide:

  • Steps for Drill-through Implementation

    Hi,
I am relatively new to Essbase.
We need to implement Drill-through in ESSBASE to drill down to detailed records from Cube to Database.
I have figured out that this setting is present in EIS.
But it will be good if there is any help document from ESSBASE which explains it with an example.
Please suggest if there is any such PDF or URL.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Gurudatta

    Hi Folks,
Finally, I managed to set up the sample application and also could actually see how drill-through works in excel.
But I was disappointed as this example in sample database just provides attribute-type details on drill through.
Our requirement is to drill down to lower granularity.
For example, we will have product group in the cube outline to keep its size limited and expect that when users drill-down in excel it goes down to actual product level amounts. Unfortunately in sample database, the facts in the cube are already at the lowest level (i.e. State). I would have imagined - to match with our requirement - that cube stores fact at the level of region and goes to database for fetching the state level facts.
    Is this possible in Essbase?
    Thanks & Regards,

  • For Drill Through From Hyperion Workspace Forms to Oracle - EBS - Financail

    Hi
i need to drill through from Hyperion Workspace Forms to Oracle - EBS- Financial.
    What are approaches ?
Weather it is possible by using FDM? or ERPi adapter ?
Or it requires all Tools (FDM, ODI, ERPi ) ?
    Urgent ..
    Need ur help ?
    regards
    Sher

FDM/ODI/ERPI, but note it is feasible to load data using ERPi without FDM (but still need ODI installed) in which case it should drill back via the ERPi landing stage.
Before going any further i think you need to decide on your data flows and whether you use ERPi or ERPi / FDM to load data, and perhaps search the internet and read some documentation to understand the system, or, get some consultancy.

  • FDM drill-through to source data residing in SQL Server

    Hi-
I am trying to create an FDM app allowing for drill through down to the source residing in SQL Server tables. Is it currently possible with a custom integration script which pulls data from the source and some out of the box functionality which traces back to the source data? The drill through stops at FDM work table but I need to be able to see live data in the source. What do I need to do or install to achieve that? Thank you in advance.

Well thats news to me. I know there are some custom solutions offered by partners which can drill back to any ODBC source but I've not seen a Oracle offering. Marketing literature is not always the most reliable source of information :)

  • EIS drill through report build

Hi,<BR><BR>I want to create multiple drill through reports using EIS. But looks like I need to create all the required reports before I build and load the cube. Once I have built the cube using EIS, I cannot go in the metaoutline and add new drill through reports. Is this true, or am I missing something? <BR>So whenever I need to add new reports for drill through, do I need to build the cube all over again?<BR><BR>Thanks<BR>RMP

No, you can open your metaoutline and build your drill through report and then run an update that just refreshes the drill through reports without having to rebuild or reload the cube.

  • Drill Through report Intersection levels

<p>Hello,</p><p> </p><p>Is it possible to have an intersection in a drill through reportfor a particular level which would not include its descendents?Like for example:</p><p>Dimension: Products</p><p>                            Coke</p><p>                            Pepsi</p><p>   I want the drill through intersection to beonly on PRODUCTS and not on Pepsi or Cola.</p><p> </p><p>Can this be done in the drill through defination?</p><p> </p><p>Thank you.</p>

Assuming you are using EIS for the drill through, you can set up the drill through intersection for any level or at the dimension level. If you are using Analyzer for drill through, you can set up the query to only get the dimension 'Product'

  • BPC 7.5NW Drill-through to FIM

    Hi all,
I upload data to BPC 7.5 NW SP06 through FIM. I tried to set up the Drill-through functionality of BPC so as to see the analysis of the trial balance uploaded in FIM, but with no success. The How-to-paper for drill-through functionality for NW, uses drill-through only to BEx and ECC, not FIM. In SAP help for BPC NW, there is an example for FIM but it is too general.Has anyone faced the same situation? Or any idea?
    Thanks
    Regards,
    Maria

    Hi,
I am trying DT to ECC funcationality in BPC 7.5 NW version. I am trying to TD from a P&L report based on hierarchies.
I would like to know how people are using drill-through on parent level nodes within their BPC hierarchies.
I hear that there is something called which is a hierarchical view of their objects/metadata in ECC. How is it related to BPC drill through?
In my example, the DT is from a P&L report that consists of Functoinal Area & P_Account (with a mix of hier nodes and base members) and Company Code in Colum (in summarized columns like N. America, Europe, etc). The current View migth have profiit center hier nodes that comprise of multiple base member profit centers.
We would like to to drill thorugh from a cell  that is an intersection of FuncArea-Account parent node and Comoamy Code parent node (N. America) to an ECC profict center transaction - K5EZ (Profit center line item).
Any help/guidance with some documentation if possible is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • View log not showing physical SQL generated in OBIEE 11.1.1.6.7

    Hi,
I am currently using OBIEE 11.1.1.6.7 version. In this version I am unable to view the physical SQL generated by OBIEE under Administration --> Manage Marketing Jobs --> Select a Job --> Click on View SQL OR Administration --> Manage Sessions--> Select a Job --> Click on View SQL. It is not showing the physical SQL generated by OBIEE for a report or segment which I have executed.
It was available in previous version i.e. OBIEE 10.1.3.4.2.
I have searched in metalink and it has been suggested to use the following <Filters> section into instanceconfig.xml file. I have added the following details into existing instanceconfig.xml file and then restarted the BI services. Still the problem persist.
    <Filters>

    Thanks,
    Prasanta

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
We used to view the log details (physical SQL) using Manage Marketing Jobs in OBIEE10g.
In OBIEE11g we can see the job details and when selecting a job (under Action column Details link) there is an option in left pane as 'View Log'. If I click on 'View Log' it is showing as 'No Logs Found'.
Just wanted to confirm if this is an issue in OBIEE11g.
Also, I believe there is a limitation in 'Manage Session' to view the number of job details whereas in 'Manage Marketing Jobs' section we can increase the number of jobs to be displayed.
    Thanks,
    Prasanta

  • Drill through using Ragged Hierrachy from Essbase

    Problem Description
I have a requirement to provide the drill through functionality after drilling down to the lowest level for unbalanced ragged heirrachy but the issue was that
the lowest level grain was shared across different level. This we overcame in RDBMS by introducing skipped ( jumping the all leaf level to the last column) or Psedo balanced
( repeating the leaf level till the last column) and then using the Action link and providing the leaf level member as the parameter.
But now the problem is we need to do the drill through in Essbase sourced cube in obiee where the heirarchy is ragged unbalanced and I cannot change it to skipped / psedo balanced.
Pls. suggest how to achieve the drill through after drilling down to teh leaf level as the leaf level is shared acros sdiffernet levels.

We have handles drill thorugh in obiee11g using RDBMS as data source by making this ragged heirarchy - a psedo balanced heirarchy by repeating the last level till the end. and then using the last level as the column for drill through parameter.

    Hi Gurus
I am trying to create report with Drill through functionalities. I want to know the steps to create report with drill through functionalities. I have understood the set up for Drill through but still not able to visualize  how to  use it in evdre() report.
I will  appreciate if some one can send me steps for using drill through in a cell in evdre() report. may I request  with  example of Drill through in evdre report  please ?

  • Frame border in Gauge during drill through

    Hi,
When I click on my charts or gauge to drill through, I notice that a outline of sorts appears when I click the object. I understand it is normal in charts as the specific series is clicked. But my problem is with the gauge. I have no frame for my gauge. But
when I click the Gauge to drill through, I get a outline of sorts.
I'm not able to post a image here. A almost black circle appear when I click the Gauge. This happens in the report server and report viewer and not in Visual Studio. The Frame style in none. I have two Range. I have checked the all the possible properties
    with no solution.
Kindly let me know if I have to look elsewhere.
    Thanks in advance.
    Leah

Looks like even when the Frame Style is None when clicked for drill through, an outline or border of sorts appears according to the Frame shape.
It was circular in my Gauge. I have changed it to rectangular. So it does not look odd anymore.

  • How Enabling ERP Integrator Drill Through from a Grid

    Hi All,
Can any one tell me how to see the source data by using FR.
some where i saw we can see this by using Enabling ERP Integrator Drill Through from a Grid.
but i dont know how to set this...
can any one help on this...

Incidentally we had been trying to use Essbase studio as an option. But there are 2 oints that we are trying to investigate.
    1) Can we bypass deployment of data and metadata everytime through Essbase studio after the initial outline is delpoyed? In the system architecture the relational tables are populated using ODI. We would like to load the data and metadata through ODI into the cube. Eeven then can we implement drill thru bypassing deployment through Essbase Studio?
    2) If Essbase studio is imperative for drill through then what are the batch automation options for deployment through Essbase studio? Ideally the option should be after the relational tables are populated through ODI then the Essbase deployment should be invoked and batch script should load the data and metadata through Essbase Studio.
    Please advise.
    Thanks,

  • Drill through in Pie Chart/Range Guage

    Hi
I enable drill thorugh in my Pie Chart and Range Guage( Dial Guage) in the BAM reports.
How to change the value format for the drill through fileds. IF we go to the value format the drop down for filed selection just shows the fields used to configure the Guage or pie chart and not the fileds used for drill though
How can we change the format for the fields used for drill through
    TO reproduce
Just take some id, process name, exceution time, status( success/failure). The dial guage shows just the execution time average. Now in drill through it has details for id. processname, started/failure. How to change the format for these fields. When u select properties and then go to value format tab and the dropdown for fields will show only execution time not status, processname or id.
How to change the value format for these fields

I don't think this is a bug. This happens only for the drill through reports that get created by default for a particular view. Because you are trying to look for formatting options for drill through report from the context of your main report editor, you are finding it as bug. It will be very difficult to provide all such options for DEFAULT drill through report in the context of MAIN report. I think may be we can add a line or two in our documentation to clarify this part, that should be sufficient.
