SQL-Java

Hi,
Anyone has a link that can help me to convert php code that connects to mysql database to java?
I managed to ceonnect to the database but I have problems with commands such:
if (mysql_num_rows($result7)!=0 && $result7!=0) that i dont know how to convert into java commands.
Thanks

you should consult the API and formost the ResultSet API.
but there is no way to get row count from a result set.
this is because the assumed behaviour in JDBC is more like the method mysql_unbuffered_query()
http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.mysql-unbuffered-query.php
if you use that method than you can't get the row numbers from the result set in PHP either.
however i can tell you this...
doing this in php...
$rs = mysql_query("SELECT a,b,c FROM AlphabetTable;");
if($row = mysql_fetch_row($rs)){
  //process first row
  echo $row[0]." ".$row[1]." ".$row[2]."\n";
  while($row = mysql_fetch_row($rs)){
     // process rows 2 through n
    echo $row[0]." ".$row[1]." ".$row[2]."\n";
}else{
  echo "No Rows Found!\n";
}in Java would be like...
Statement s = connection.createStatement();
ResultSet rs =  s.executeQuery("SELECT a,b,c FROM AlphabetTable;");
if(rs.next()){
  // process first row
  System.out.println(rs.getString(1)+" "+rs.getString(2)+" "+rs.getString(3));
  while(rs.next()){
     // process rows 2 through n
    System.out.println(rs.getString(1)+" "+rs.getString(2)+" "+rs.getString(3));
}else{
  System.out.println("No Rows Found!");
}

    Hi there,
    I'm trying to get the following to work :

    AUTHID CURRENT_USER

    Java source FileUtil (also with the AUTHID CURRENT_USER clause)
    Now Scott runs (as scott):
    Runs HR.p_tst_01(blob,'/users/scott/')
    When I give HR acess rights to /users/scott , the file gets written to the directory
    However when HR has no rights, but scott has
    then the JavaPolicy is complaining.
    My question is : why isn't the 'authid current_user' clause working as expected.
    Thanks in advance,

    I could not find a suitable thread to post my PL/SQL question so iam posting it here.........You got the hint to the correct forum alread in another thread {message:id=10837976}
    And if you think this is not related to Java but PL/SQL, then you should ask in {forum:id=75}

  • How to proces the record in Table with multiple threads using Pl/Sql & Java

    I have a table containing millions of records in it; and numbers of records also keep on increasing because of a high speed process populating this table.
    I want to process this table using multiple threads of java. But the condition is that each records should process only once by any of the thread. And after processing I need to delete that record from the table.
    Here is what I am thinking. I will put the code to process the records in PL/SQL procedure and call it by multiple threads of Java to make the processing concurrent.
    Java Thread.1 }
    Java Thread.2 }
    .....................} -------------> PL/SQL Procedure to process and delete Records ------> <<<Table >>>
    Java Thread.n }
    But the problem is how can I restrict a record not to pick by another thread while processing(So it should not processed multiple times) ?
    I am very much familiar with PL/SQL code. Only issue I am facing is How to fetch/process/delete the record only once.
    I can change the structure of table to add any new column if needed.
    Thanks in advance.

    Check if you can use the bucket logic in your PLSQL code..
    By bucket I mean if you can make multiple buckets of your data to be processed so that each bucket contains the different rows and then call the PLSQL process in parallel.
    Lets say there is a column create_date and processed_flag in your table.
    Your PLSQL code should take 2 parameters start_date and end_date.
    Now if you want to process data say between 01-Jan to 06-Jan, a wrapper program should first create 6 buckets each of one day and then call PLSQL proc in parallel for these 6 different buckets.

    OK, so you've got this code here:
    private class ButtonListener implements ActionListener {
      public void actionPerformed (ActionEvent e) {
        if (e.getSource () == exit) {
          System.exit(0); // exits the GUI
        if (e.getSource () == snam) {
        if (e.getSource () == id) {
    }Perfect fine way to do this; although I think creating anonymous would be a bit cleaner:
    snam.addActionListener(new actionListener() {
      public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae) {
    });But I think that the real question you have is "what do I put for logic when the JButtons are hit?", right?
    I would answer that you want to dynamically build your SQL statement changing your ordering based on the button.
    So you'd have a method that builds the SQL based on what you pass in - so it takes one argument perhaps?
    private static final int NAME = 1;
                             ID = 2;
    /* ... some code ... */
    snam.addActionListener(new actionListener() {
      public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae) {
        buildSQL(NAME);
    /* ... some code ... */
    private void buildSQL(int type) {
      if ( type == NAME ) {
    /* ... build SQL by name ... */
      else if ( type == ID ) {
    /* ... build SQL by id ... */
    }That kind of thing.
    Or you might choose to have several build methods with no parameter type; each building the SQL differently, and calling whichever one you need. I did not read your entire pgm, so I don't know how you'd want to organize it. You need to ask more specific questions at that point.

  • SQL Java Tool

    Hi All
    Is there any tool which can give me a java object for each database table in oracle schema.
    I want the java object to have load, loadAll, save, update features.
    Any pointer will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    bib

    Look at Hibernate (www.hibernate.org).
    Or do a search for JDO on java.sun.com or google.
    Whatever you pick, you'll have to do some work yourself to describe the mapping. I don't know of any tool that will just do it all automatically (but I could be wrong).

  • Java + PL/SQL modules w one login

    We have a huge (600+ modules) collection of applications done in web pl/sql via Designer. We are moving to JDeveloper for future work and would like our end-users to be able to log into each individual application just once regardless of whether its pl/sql, java or a mixture. Implementing SSO isn't feasible at this time because the pl/sql apps use user for the audit columns, and there are literally hundreds of tables that would need their apis fixed.
    I can get my java apps in stand-alone bc4j to use the same realm as the pl/sql, but when I import those applications to into 10AS the application server seems to set the realm and the url prefix to the same value, and since mod_plsql sees the request first nothing gets to the java apps.
    My other issue is that getRemoteUser shows the realm name in front of the username e.g. testapp/testuser and the HTTP_REMOTE_USER variable on the pl/sql side shows only the username.
    Perhaps I'm approaching this the wrong way so any advice on how to consolidate logins while keeping the app-user is database-user configuration on the pl/sql side would be welcome.

    One possibility is to use a Java servlet that replaces mod_plsql. Here is a link to a commercial one called JOPA: http://www.dynamicpsp.com/dpsp/prod/!go?ln=p_jopa_wp. Or there is the open source DBPrism servlet (http://www.dbprism.com.ar/dbprism/doc/Home.html) - which is primarily for getting XML out of the database, but also can act as a replacement for mod_plsql. Hi all. Not sure if I should ask this here or in an SQL forum. Im trying to manipulate an access database through java via the JDBC-ODBC bridge driver. The program compiles ok but when I try to execute it I get an error. According to the error there is a syntax problem in my SQL create table statement but it doesnt tell what the problem is and Ive looked over the create statement and cant find anything wrong with it. There is, however, an error code from the driver but I have no way of referencing it. Anyone here know why otherwise normal SQL code would cause a syntax error with java or how I can track the error to get a hint at whats going wrong? Here is the code and the error:
    // java program to create an access database through JDBC
    import java.sql.*;
    public class videodb {
    public static void main(String args[]) {
         // attempt tp load DB driver
         try {
         // load the jdbc-odbc driver
         Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
         catch (ClassNotFoundException cnfe) // driver not found
         System.err.println("Unable to load database driver");
         System.err.println("Details : " + cnfe);
         System.exit(0);
         try {
         // Create a connection to the data source
              Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection ("jdbc:odbc:vdds","","");
              // Create a statement to execute SQL commands
              Statement stmt = con.createStatement();
              // create a table for DVD's
              stmt.executeUpdate ("create table DVD (id number(5), name char(30));");
              // insert a record into the DVD table
              //stmt.executeUpdate ("insert into DVD values (0001, 'StarGate');");
              // Close the connection
         con.close();
         catch (SQLException sqle) {
    System.out.println("Problem with SQL: " + sqle);
    System.out.println("Driver Error Number" + sqle.getErrorCode());
    Error:
    Problem with SQL: java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Syntax error in CREATE TABLE statement.
    Driver Error Number-3551

    Here's what I got. I don't see anything that helps but I'm kinda new to using SQL and java together.

  • How to convert pl/sql code into java/j2ee

    Hi,
    We have a PL/SQL Oracle App server application that we will support if we can convert in j2ee/java. But when i did take a look at the code, these pl/sql contains all HTML and java code inside the stored procedures.
    And iam looking to explore some tools and mechanisms that can convert these pl/sql in a JAVA application so that i can deploy this new app into my BEA81 environment.
    Does any body has any idea:
    a) How to convert from pl/sql > java ?
    b) Any plugins or tools of BEA that can run these pl/sql (the way thay are currently...i.e w/o converting) in BEA 81 container ?
    thanks, sangita

    these pl/sql contains all HTML and java code insideJava or JavaScript. They are not the same. I wouldn't expect to see Java inside html, whereas JavaScript would be intermixed. On the other hand you might have a java stored proc (Oracle 9/10) which is generating HTML.

    I doubt it just has html and JavaScript/Java. So what you have is a mess that mixes several things that should have been seperate in the first place.

  • SQL Timeouts and Blocking Locks

    SQL Timeouts and Blocking Locks
    Just wanted to check in and see if anyone here has feedback on application settings, ColdFusion settings, JBOSS settings or other settings that could help to limit or remove SQL Timeouts and blocking locks on SID's.
    We're using MS SQL 2000 with JBOSS and IIS5.
    We've been seeing the following error in our logs that starts blocking locks in SQL:
    java.sql.SQLException: [newScale] [SQLServer JDBC Drive] [SQLServer] Lock request time out period exceeded.
    Once this happens, we're hosed until we remove the blocking SID in SQL.  These are the connections to the application.
    Any feedback would be great.  Thanks!

    Hi
    This is your exact solution:
    Select a.username, a.sid, a.serial#, b.id1, c.sql_text
    From v$session a, v$lock b, v$sqltext c
    Where b.id1 in( Select distinct e.id1
    from v$session d , v$lock e
    where d.lockwait = e.kaddr ) and
    a.sid = b.sid and
    c.hash_value = a.sql_hash_value and
    b.request =0;
    Thanks
