SQL Load SDO_GEOMETRY, constant SDO_ELEM_INFO

Hi all,
I'm loading a large amount of spatial data, in the form of 2D polygons, into a 12c database.
All is fine when the SDO_ELEM_INFO data is in the data file. But I was hoping to find a way to express this as a constant VARRAY in the control file, rather than having to repeat the exact same data on every row in the data file.
Is there any way syntactically to do this in the control file?

I my csv file, I do not put any value for this field.
I intend to use CONSTANT variable to this field.

Hoever, when I run the SQLLoader, it will return me error message which is INVALID MONTH.

Using constant values in SQL Loader control file

Hi,
I have a requirement where I need to migrate the data of 6 tables from MS Access into Oracle data base. I have written SQL Loader scripts so that I can create CSV files based on MS Access data and then migrate into Oracle. But in Oracle tables we have 4 common columns like Create_By, Created_Date,Updated_By and Update_Date, and those fields should be taken care by system. So, basically system should update login user ID and sysdate values in respective columns. My question here is, I do not have above mentioned common columns in MS Access tables. So, can I hard code those values in control file by saying
Created_By CONSTANT user,
Create_Date CONSTANT TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS'),
Updated_By CONSTANT user,
Updated_Date CONSTANT TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS')
Please let me know your valuable suggestions.

Sql*loader and sdo_geometry field

Is there a way to load longitude/latitude coordinates from a flat file directly into an sdo_geometry field with sql*loader? If so, does anyone have an example? I just want to create point features.

You need to add the SRID field if you want to add the SRID to the geometry.
Or you can do that with SQL after the data is loaded into the DB.

SQL Loader: multiple infiles, change constant

Hi,
I looked on the internet, in my SQL Loader book, and on these forums and can't find an answer to a question I have.
I have multiple infiles that are being loaded to 1 table. That's easy. The problem is that with each different infile, I have a constant that is being uploaded that changes.
Example:
infile one: load to table: constant in field list is 1
infile two: load to same table as infile one: constant in field list is 2
Any suggestions? I don't want to have to create multiple ctl files.

No, not in the input file itself. However, the files should be named in the format:
test1.csv
test2.csv
test3.csv.

Geometry is stored in wkb format. To be able to add SRID information to geometry i created the function in database which looks like this:

Problem with field-length in sql-loader

Hello,
(sorry I see it's the wrong forum -> SQL-Developer, I searched for SQL-Loader, is there a possibility to change the forum ?)
I can't find an answer for my question at google, so I hope there is someone in this forum who can help me.
I have a dat-File that contains 12 500 000 records and want to laod it via sql-loader. The first field contains the ID and there were numbers from 1 to 12 500 000 stored.
When I run the sql-loader, the ID run up to 9 999 999 and then, for the last 2 500 001 records, ist starts at 1 again.
I noticed a few things :
1. Numbers < 10 000 000 don't make Problems
2. Numbers >= 10 000 000 make Problems, the first digit ( in this example "1") is cut, so the number "10 000 001" ist stored as "1". It comes to double entries (IDs 1 to 2 500 000).
3. The same field-definition, I have for the third field of the record -> there is no Problem. THERE I can store any number.
4. I tried to store a number > 100 000 000 -> the first digit was cut too, but ONLY the first digit.
5. I'm able to store any number manually in the Database.
So, I have a problem with the first field. If the number is greater then 10 000 000, the first Number is cut. It doesn't make any differance, if the number is 10 000 000 or 999 999 999, just the first digit, in the first field, is cut.
Any idea ??????????

I am sure, on rereading the OPs email, you will see a disconnect between what was written and your response.
The maximum size of a VARCHAR2 columns is always 4000 bytes. The maximum size of a VARCHAR2 PL/SQL variable is always 32K bytes.
If someone is trying to load the text from an email that may exceed 4K into a table they must use a CLOB column if they wish it to be searchable as text.

I changed one line of the function to:
RETURN CHAR IS mco_id VARCHAR2(16);
But I still get the same error:
ORA-12899: value too large for column "TESTM8"."LET_DRIVE_IN_FCLTY"."DIF_CSA_ID" (actual: 30, maximum: 16)
I just am not seeing what is being defined as 30 characters. Any ideas much appreciated!

How to load a CONSTANT NULL

I"m getting the error message:

I want to fill a field with the constant value of NULL. How can I do that? I have a control file that looks similiar to this:

Are you attempting to force the SERVER column to contain a NULL because the column has a default value?
If the SERVER column does not have a default value, simply do not specify the column in your control file.-- Load Records for 2009 January (31 Days)

Loading Data Error while using SQL Loader

I am facing another issue while loading the data from text file to oracle db.
I have a table in which data is loaded from multiple files. What i want the when i load the data i want to load the filename as well in the table in front of the record. the script which works fine when i load data in windows OS but i am getting error in Unix OS. My sql loader script is as follows.

CSV FILES DOESN'T LOAD WITH RIGHT DATA USING SQL LOADER

Hi pals, I have the following information in csv file:

SQL LOADER / INFILE filename as variable in .ctl file

I stumbled over several threads in the OTN-forums regarding this problem, but neither was it finaly solved nor did I find a FAQ that answered my question. Soooo:
We get several datafiles from several sources and process them via SQL Loader and store 'em in the DB.
This is done via a CHRON job and a PERL skript, for all datafiles in a specific directory.
We need the information which file on which date generated the data INSIDE the DB as well.
So I want to store the filename || SYSDATE combination as well.
I know, I could parse the .ctl file and replace a key-string with the actual filename and so have it in the input.
But this seems a bit dirty to me. Isn't there some way, i.e. a keyword or variable for the infile-filename within the SQLLoader that I can access in the .ctl file? Something like:

FIELDS TERMINATED BY ';'
WHEN LOWER(LTRIM(RTRIM(hdr_ftr))) = 'ftr' -- FOOTER??

I passed this quite similar to 'Ask Tom' and got the advice to put the .ctl's content as a string variable into a Shell skript.
This shell skript (which had to be written anyway to loop over the datafiles an subsequently call the sqlldr) should then replace the INFILE parameter and the CONSTANTs for the filenames and generate a 'temporarry' .ctl before calling sqlldr!
That's it, no better and safer way!
