We installed Oracle client on our unix server by downloading client from the recommended ftp server. However, we are not seeing sqlldr in the bin directory. Is there a seperate install for this? we can see all other utilities such as sqlplus.
How can I get sqlldr? is it not installed by default?
thanks
Which option did you select for installation? Administrative/RunTime?

SQL*Loader-704 & ORA-12535 error , Oracle 9i AIX, Windows Client
Hi All,
I try to run SQL*Loader from Windows Client to Oracle 9i server on AIX. The control file is in the windows machine.
C:\SqlLdr user/password@myoradb control=mycontrol.ctl
(the data is 300,000 rows, on the same control file)
I get this error :
SQL*Loader-704 : Internal error : ulconnect: OCIServerAttach [0]
ORA-12535: TNS:Operation timed out.
FYI, from the same machine, TNSPing is OK, SQL*Plus run perfectly.
What is wrong here ?
Should I copy the CTL file into the AIX Server and run the SQL*Plus from AIX client console ?
Thank you for your help,
KristHave you checked the sqlnet.log file for an indication of the underlying error? You can also enable network tracing in the sqlnet.ora file, by setting trace_level_client=16.

Hello I developed a small applicaion for insert data into database.but i am getting exception in the server like this.
app failed due to java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle][Oracle]ORA-01401: inserted value too large for column
And the code is given below..
import java.io.*;
import java.sql.*;
import javax.servlet.*;
import javax.servlet.http.*;
public class Jdbc1 extends HttpServlet
public void service(HttpServletRequest request,HttpServletResponse response)throws ServletException,IOException
PrintWriter out=response.getWriter();
String no=request.getParameter("no");
String name=request.getParameter("name");
String age=request.getParameter("age");
try
System.out.println("1");
Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
System.out.println("2");
Connection con=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:rakesh","scott","tiger");
System.out.println("3");
Statement st=con.createStatement();
System.out.println("4");
st.executeUpdate("INSERT INTO ind VALUES('+no+','+name+','+age+')" );
con.commit();
con.close();
catch(Exception e)
System.out.println(" app failed due to "+e);
}Please give solution for this....Hello sir..
thanks for ur reply...
for oracle 10g -----> we use XE as datasourse
name..What?
now i am using oracle 8i...Not so from the code you posted. Didn't I see "jdbc:odbc:..." in your first post?
so what should i
write...in the datasourse name...that means.......
Connection
con=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@loc
alhost:1521:????????","scott","tiger");Do you really use the default username and password?
What should i write in place of ?????????..The name of the database you wish to connect to, of course.
Do you have your tnsnames.ora set up properly? Did you install this database?
None of this has ANYTHING to do with the error you posted, of course. Fix that first and then worry about the thin driver. At least it appears that the code you posted managed to connect to the database.

dbgen is your project name? it should be the dsn name that has to be mentioned. Go to control panel->administrative tools>data sources and add the type of driver required.

ds.setDriverType("thin");
ds.setServerName("dssw2k01");
ds.setPortNumber(1521);
ds.setDatabaseName("orcl"); // sid
ds.setUser("scott");
ds.setPassword("tiger");
Connection conn = ds.getConnection();
Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();
ResultSet rset = stmt

if (rset.next())
System.out.println(rset.getString(1));
rset.close();
stmt.close();
conn.close();

For information, me and my customer are using Win2k, so I try to find an executable deployment package. Any further suggestion ?

Run SQL Loader script from Unix env
Hi,
We are using HP-UNIX server. The control file of SQL Loader is placed in oracle home\bin folder in the unix server. I created Executable for this SQL Loader control file in concurrent program and attached into a request group.
Then I ran it from a responsibility, I am getting the below error.

If I run the above control file from my local machine (windows) using SQLLDR username/pwd @servername control='c:/abc.ctl' from the command prompt, then all the records from xyz.txt file pushed into staging table.
Where as, If I schedule the above control file and trying to run from a GL responsibility, I am getting the above error message.
Do I need to modify the control file scripts in order to run from UNIX environment?

SQL*Loader or external table for load a MSG (email) file
Hi there!
I'm looking for a way to load an email in a Oracle DB.
I mean, not all the email's body in a column, but to "parse" it in a multi column/table fashion.
Is it possible to do with a sql*loader script or an external table?
I think it is not possible, and that I must switch to XML DB.
Any idea?
Thanks,
AntonioHello,
Why don't you just load the entire MSG (email) as clob into one email_body column or whatever column name you want to use.
To load data upto 32k, you can use varchar2(32656) but its not a good idea to load clob in that manner because it's very inconsistent as length can
vary resulting in string literal too long. So you have 2 choices now, first you have to use either procedure or anonymous block to load clob data.
First Method -- I loaded alert.log successfully and you can imagine how big this file can be (5MB in my test case)
CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY DIR AS '/mydirectory/logs';
DECLARE
clob_data CLOB;
clob_file BFILE;
BEGIN
INSERT INTO t1clob
VALUES (EMPTY_CLOB ())
RETURNING clob_text INTO clob_data;
clob_file := BFILENAME ('DIR', 'wwalert_dss.log');
DBMS_LOB.fileopen (clob_file);
DBMS_LOB.loadfromfile (clob_data,
clob_file,
DBMS_LOB.getlength (clob_file)
DBMS_LOB.fileclose (clob_file);
COMMIT;
END;Second Method: Use of Sqlldr
Example of controlfile
LOAD DATA
INFILE alert.log "STR '|\n'"
REPLACE INTO table t1clob
clob_text char(30000000)
)Hope this helps -
SQL*LOADER example not working for REF
I was working on the Oracle bulk load scripts using SQL*LOADER utility .
I have encountered an error while using the REF column option to resolve the parent-child referential integrity .
The example given in the URL http://www.csee.umbc.edu/help/oracle8/server.815/a67792/ch05.htm Example 5-9 Loading Primary Key REF Columns
does not work . and generates errors : 'SQL*Loader-418: Bad datafile datatype for column DEPT_MGR'
example :
Control File
LOAD DATA
INFILE `sample.dat'
INTO TABLE departments_alt
FIELDS TERMINATED BY `,' OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY `"'
(dept_no CHAR(5),
dept_name CHAR(30),
dept_mgr REF(CONSTANT `EMPLOYEES', emp_id),
emp_id FILLER CHAR(32))
Data file (sample.dat)
22345, QuestWorld, 007,
23423, Geography, 000,
Could you please suggest any solutions for this ?Some of the quotes are wrong
Try the sample from the 10.2 documentation
LOAD DATA
INFILE 'sample.dat'
INTO TABLE departments_alt
FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
(dept_no CHAR(5),
dept_name CHAR(30),
dept_mgr REF(CONSTANT 'EMPLOYEES', emp_id),

Turn off display on sql*plus and increase memory for oracle?
I want to turn off the output display on SQL*PLUS window and SPOOL the output to a file since the result is very big. i tried to SET TERM OFF but it doesn't work. Anybody knows what's the problem? or is there some other commands to use? My oracle is 9i. thx!!! And anybody knows how to increase the memory usage size for Oracle's jrew.exe? it's too slow when i try to retrieve some big size data from oracle.
I just answered this question on the OTN -> General forum. You could try the SQL*Plus startup switch -s to startup SQL*Plus in silent mode, eg:
C:\SQLPLUS -S

Bypass installer system check for Oracle Designer 10gR2
Is there a way to bypass the batch file or edit it that runs prior to the universal installer loading?
I am trying to install Oracle Designer 10gR2 and the setup starts a batch file (see link below for image) that does a system requirement check. This fails on a machine that I need to install Designer. The reason it fails is because the paging file is in a different place than where this batch file is looking. The system meets the requirement it just happens to have the paging file in the wrong place.
My question; is there a way to turn this off with a command line switch or something so the installation will proceed unimpeded?
Here's the link to the image file, please keep in mind that this is an example and not the actual failure message. Please believe me it is the swap file it is failing on.
