SQL Loader bug
2 day ago I meet with problem to load text file to Oracle DB with
SQL statment in control file. It's my control file:
LOAD DATA
INFILE '/tmp/123/22-12.txt'
REPLACE
INTO TABLE VL_LOG
(date_time SYSDATE,
SOURCE POSITION(02:16)
"TRUNC(SUBSTR(:SOURCE,1,3))*16777216+TRUNC(SUBSTR(:SOURCE,INSTR(:
SOURCE,'.')+1,3))*65536+TRUNC(SUBSTR(:SOURCE,INSTR(:SOURCE,'.',1,
2)+1,3))*256+RTRIM(SUBSTR(:SOURCE,INSTR(:SOURCE,'.',-1)+1))",
DESTINATION POSITION(19:33)
"TRUNC(SUBSTR(:DESTINATION,1,3))*16777216+TRUNC(SUBSTR(:DESTINATI
ON,INSTR(:DESTINATION,'.')+1,3))*65536+TRUNC(SUBSTR(:DESTINATION,
INSTR(:DESTINATION,'.',1,2)+1,3))*256+SUBSTR(:DESTINATION,INSTR(:
DESTINATION,'.',-1)+1)",
bytes POSITION(54:72) INTEGER EXTERNAL)
When I run SQL Loader with this control file my Linux 5.2
(kernel 2.0.36) say:
Segmentation fault(core dumped).
Later I test this and now may say, that error is only when length
of SQL statment more than 201 bytes(symbols). I think, that input
buffer for this statment to small and loader fault when attempt
to translate incomlete string. I know, that Loader may translate
statments only shorter 258 symbols, and when statment string
greater 258 show error, but not core dumped!

255 is default length. If you need more - specify it exactly as char(2000). You searched wrong forums. I'd suggest you to read manuals instead:

Hi all,
I try to insert data with SQL Loader on Linux (Suse 6.3) and get the following message:
SQL*Loader-704: Internal error: ulmtsyn: OCIStmtExecute (tabhp) [-1073747572]

The control file and data file did work on another platform.
Please help me!

NO!
SuSe 6.2 have a patch file for Oracle made from their developers.
Never use Oracle 8.1.5.0.1 patch file that doesn't work because
us bugged.
Use SuSe 6.2 Oracle patch set.
(don't remember the web page where you can download it but a
search with word "oracle" from SuSe homepage will lead you to

SQL Loader Inserts chr(13) and chr(10) in the first column of every row.
Hi,
I have exported a data in a pipe delimited file using TOAD in one database. Now I want to load the data in my local database using SQL Loader. However every time I try to load the data a double quote followed by a new line is entered for the first column of each row. Unfortunately the delimited file is very big and hence can't be posted here. However I tried the same with a customized table and its data and found the same problem. Below are the table structures and control file that I used.
create table test_sql
a varchar2(30),
b date
insert into test_sql values('51146263',sysdate-3);
insert into test_sql values('51146261,sysdate-1);
EXPORTED PIPE DELIMITED FILE_
A|B|!##!
51146261|04/14/13 4:55:18 PM|!##!
51146263|04/12/13 4:55:32 PM|!##!
create table test_sql1 as select * from test_sql where 1=2;
CONTROL FILE_
OPTIONS(SKIP=1)
LOAD DATA
INFILE 'C:\Users\Prithwish\Desktop\Test.txt' "str '!##!'"
PRESERVE BLANKS
INTO TABLE TEST_SQL1
FIELDS TERMINATED BY '|' OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
TRAILING NULLCOLS
A CHAR(2000),
B DATE "MM/DD/YYYY HH12:MI:SS AM"
select * from TEST_SQL1;
After this when I paste it in notepad I get the following result
A B
51146261" 14-APR-0013 16:55:18
51146263" 12-APR-0013 16:55:32.
I have no idea how the quotes or the newline appear. Is this a Toad bug? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Really urgent.
Thanks in advance
RegardsHi Harry,
I actually thought that the str !##! was causing the problem. Actually my original export has some new lines in some specific columns so I can't keep the new line as my line terminator and hence I kept the !##! as my terminator.
When I put the same data in a notepad and load it there is no problem at all. For e.g I just typed the following in a notepad and the data loaded just fine.
A|B|!##!
51146261|01-01-01 10:10:10 AM|!##!
51146263|01-01-01 11:11:11 AM|!##!
Its just when I load the exported file there the problem arises though I have verified the file using UNIX as well using octal dump and found no hidden characters.

CSV FILES DOESN'T LOAD WITH RIGHT DATA USING SQL LOADER
Hi pals, I have the following information in csv file:
MEXICO,Seretide_Q110,2010_SEE_01,Sales Line,OBJECTIVE,MEXICO,Q110,11/01/2010,02/04/2010,Activo,,,MEXICO
MEXICO,Seretide_Q210,2010_SEE_02,Sales Line,OBJECTIVE,MEXICO,Q210,05/04/2010,25/06/2010,Activo,,,MEXICO
When I use SQLLOADER the data is loaded as follow:*
EXICO,Seretide_Q110,2010_SEE_01,Sales Line,OBJECTIVE,MEXICO,Q110,11/01/2010,02/04/2010,Activo,,,MEXICO
And for the next data in a csv file too:
MX_001,MEXICO,ASMA,20105912,Not Verified,General,,RH469364,RH469364,Change Request,,,,,,,Y,MEXICO,RH469364
MX_002,MEXICO,ASMA,30094612,Verified,General,,LCS1405,LCS1405,Change Request,,,,,,,Y,MEXICO,LCS1405

X_002,MEXICO,ASMA,30094612,Verified,General,,LCS1405,LCS1405,Change Request,,,,,,,Y,MEXICO,LCS1405
I mean the first character is truncated and this bug happens with all my data. Any suggestion? I really hope you can help me.

Sql*loader and sequence() for primary keys
I have a question regarding SQL*Loader with the sequence() function and using it for a primary key to load records in multiple tables from one input record. I am pulling data from a delimited file and populating several tables from each row. For the primary key, I am using the sequence function.
For the first table (the parent), I use sequence(40000,1) for the key. Since the remaining inserts are based on the same logical record, I use sequence(40000,1) for those too (one record for each month). The problem comes in when a child record does not pass a WHEN clause (the amount is zero). Then it almost seems as if the parent record is not loaded and the child (or children) that does pass the WHEN clause are assigned to the next parent! Obviously, the sequence is getting out of sync between the children and the parent.
I've looked in the documentation and tried several different ways to attack this problem. Is there a bug in SQLLDR (8.1.7) or is it just my coding.
I will try to include the files below but they are very large.
Thanks for your help.

SQL Loader and Error ORA-01847/ORA-01839
Hi,
While using the direct loading in SQL-LOADER when we get the ORA-01847/ORA-01839 all the other records are getting errorred out. It goes fine with the conventional loading.
Should I use some parameters or anything to make sure that all the other records are not rejected when we get the ORA-01847/ORA-01839 error while going with the DIRECT loading.
Thanks
JibinIn internet I found this short message:
“AL32UTF8 is a multi-byte characterset, that means some characters are stored in more than 1 character, that's true for these special characters.
If you have same table definitions in both databases you likely face error ORA-12899.
This metalink note discusses this problem, it's also applicable to sqlloader:
Import reports "ORA-12899: Value too large for column" when using BYTE semantic
Doc ID: Note:563893.1”
By metalink, I can see the Note linked to a one Oracle Internal Bug for Oracle 11g.....
I'm waiting you suggestion... thanks very much in advance.
Regards.

SQL Loader loads duplicate records even when there is PK defined
Hi,
I have created table with pk on one of the column.Loaded the table using sql loader.the flat file has duplicate record. It loaded all the records without any error but now the index became unusable.
The requirement is to fail the process if there are any duplicate. Please help me in understaing why this is happening.
Below is the ctl file
OPTIONS(DIRECT=TRUE, ERRORS=0)
UNRECOVERABLE
load data
infile 'test.txt'
into table abcdedfg
replace
fields terminated by ',' optionally enclosed by '"'
col1 ,
col2
i defined pk on col1Check out..
http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14215/ldr_modes.htm#sthref1457
It states...
During a direct path load, some integrity constraints are automatically disabled. Others are not. For a description of the constraints, see the information about maintaining data integrity in the Oracle Database Application Developer's Guide - Fundamentals.
Enabled Constraints
The constraints that remain in force are:
NOT NULL
UNIQUE
PRIMARY KEY (unique-constraints on not-null columns)Since OP has the primary key in place before starting the DIRECT path load, this is contradictory to what the documentation says or probably a bug? -
SQL*Loader-523 error in solaris sh script
I have a SQLLdr script that I want to call from a unix shell (sh) script. We are running on Solaris 8. When we run from the command line the Sqlldr works, when we run from within a shell script, we are getting an STD ERR -2 error. I have tried running SQLldr with the -s (silent option) and silent = all but it doesn't seem to be helping.
I pasted the error that I am getting below.
Thanks,

I can't find anything that tells me what these exit number means and it's really starting to bug me) after I commented and uncommented a few lines to check to see what caused it to work...Hah! Works again. New Question time:
LD_PRELOAD, what does this variable have to do with SQL*Loader, since I'm using it in the apache start-up to do some stuff with oci8[No idea if it's necessary] and when I, assumedly, set it to "null" it works, but when it keeps my initial value it breaks and gives me my 137 error status with my original errors. -
SQL*Loader does not recognise the \ in directory
Hi there,
We have version OWB 9.2.0.2.8 and I am trying to run SQL*Loader. I have tried to use an external table and also got "cannot find file" which I suspect could be the same problem. I then tried to load the data with SQL*Loader and saw that the directory specification of the source data file has "mysteriously" lost the \'s.
Below is a copy of the .log file with data file specified incorrectly. It should be u:\bi\data\ocean_shipment.csv. Any ideas?

That was the first thing I checked - even put it in (with \'s on the configuration parameters of the mapping). ALso unregistered and re-registered the location, ensured I put the slashes in, but to no avail. But I do belief there might be a bug outstanding for the location with directory separators - will check on metalink and let you know. -

Hi, I'm trying to get a simple PHP page working on the pre-compiled HP-UX Apache Server(Itanium Build), that calls a Unix script which in turn submits a job. In this process SQL*Loader is called, and while it works just fine when I'm in the Unix prompt, when I try it from the PHP Page, it fails with the following error:
SQL*Loader-704: Internal error: ulconnect: OCIServerAttach[0]
ORA-30136: Drop-in compatibility is not supported for this application
Any thoughts?
Also: PHP version is 5.2.0 if it matters, and oci8 is being included and is functioning properly....Ugh, it was working for about 5 seconds on my test page, but now it's just giving me an exit status of 137(Anyone have any clue what this means? I can't find anything that tells me what these exit number means and it's really starting to bug me) after I commented and uncommented a few lines to check to see what caused it to work...Hah! SQL*LOADER ERROR 비교 (ORA-2359, ORA-1401)
==========================================
PURPOSE
SQL*LOADER 를 사용하는 경우 ORA-2359 ERROR가 나는 경우와
ORA-1401 ERROR가 나는 경우를 비교한다.
Examples
table 의 desc가 다음과 같다고 가정하자.
SQL> create table test5(a varchar2(1000));
이 경우 delimiter 가 comma 인지 position 으로 구분되는지에 따라 error
message가 달리 나타난다.
1) ORA-2359 : field in datafile exceeded maximum specified length
load data
infile test.dat
replace
into table test5
fields terminated by ','
(a char) 로 실행 시 발생.
---> a char(1000) 으로 하면 error 해결이 가능하다.
2) ORA-1401: inserted value too large for column
load data
infile test.dat
replace
into table test5
fields terminated by ','
(a position(1:2000) char)
---> 이 경우 a position (1:1000) char 로 하면 해결 가능하다 .
* 참고로 + , - 기호와 comma 를 load 하기 위해서는 decimal external을
사용한다. (a position decimal external (10))

Problem specifying SQL Loader Log file destination using EM
Good evening,
I am following the example given in the 2 Day DBA document chapter 8 section 16.
In step 5 of 7, EM does not allow me to specify the destination of the SQL Loader log file to be on a mapped network drive.
The question: Does SQL Loader have a limitation that I am not aware of, that prevents placing the log file on a network share or am I getting this error because of something else I am inadvertently doing wrong ?
Note: I have placed the DDL, load file data and steps I follow in EM at the bottom of this post to facilitate reproducing the problem *(drive Z is a mapped drive)*.
Thank you for your help,
John.

LogFile - The directory does not exist.Hi John,
But, i did'nt found any error when i am going the same what you did.
My Oracle Version is 10.2.0.1 and using Windows xp. See what i did and i got worked
1.I created one table in scott schema :
SCOTT@orcl> CREATE TABLE "PURCHASE_ORDERS"
2 (
3 "PO_NUMBER" NUMBER NOT NULL ENABLE,
4 "PO_DESCRIPTION" VARCHAR2(200 BYTE),
5 "PO_DATE" DATE NOT NULL ENABLE,

8 PRIMARY KEY ("PO_NUMBER") USING INDEX PCTFREE 10 INITRANS 2 MAXTRANS 255 COMPUTE STATISTICS NOCOMPRESS LOGGING TABLESPACE "USERS" ENABLE
9 )
10 TABLESPACE "USERS";
Table created.I logged into em Maintenance-->Data Movement-->Load Data from User Files-->My Host Credentials
Here i total 3 text boxes :
1.Server Data File : C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\ORCL\USERS01.DBF
2.Data File is Located on Your Browser Machine : z:\load.dat <--- Here z:\ means other machine's shared doc folder; and i selected this option (as option button click) and i created the same load.dat as you mentioned.
3.Temporary File Location : C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\ORCL\ <--- I did'nt mentioned anything.
Step 2 of 7 Table Name : scott.PURCHASE_ORDERS
Step 3 of 7 I just clicked Next
Step 4 of 7 I just clicked Next
Step 5 of 7 I just clicked Next
Step 6 of 7 I just clicked Next
Step 7 of 7 Here it is Control File Contents:
LOAD DATA
APPEND
INTO TABLE scott.PURCHASE_ORDERS
FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
PO_NUMBER INTEGER EXTERNAL,
PO_DESCRIPTION CHAR,
PO_DATE DATE,
PO_VENDOR INTEGER EXTERNAL,
PO_DATE_RECEIVED DATE
And i just clicked on submit job.
Now i got all 3 rows in purchase_orders :
SCOTT@orcl> select count(*) from purchase_orders;
COUNT(*)
3So, there is no bug, it worked and please retry if you get any error/issue.

SQL Loader error number 1 in OWB 9.0.4
I'm trying to execute a flat-file to database table mapping (using SQL*Loader), having set up my locations & connectors. When I execute the mapping, I get the following message:
Starting Execution COM_COM_MT_STG
Starting Task COM_COM_MT_STG
RPE-1013-SQL_LOADER_ERROR SQL Loader reported error condition, number 1.
Completing Task COM_COM_MT_STG
Completing Execution COM_COM_MT_STG
What does that mean and how do I fix it?
Also, is there any detailed documentation on building such a mapping, that can take you through all the steps, from creating the flat file module to deployment?
Thanks,
CareyCarey,
Use the runtime audit browser to access the error log. It will show you what went wrong. You may have to re-register your flat file location with a folder separator at the end... This is a bug.
Thanks,
Mark.
