SQL Loader, Java  API

Hi,
Is there Java API for SQL loader? I know we can call SQL Loader from the java by "system.exec()" Command line, but is there a JAVA API for it, that would make the call more elegant.
Thanks

I've never heard of one. However, if you'll switch to using "external tables" you don't need one.

  • Java API for running entire ".sql" files on a remote DB ( mySQL or Oracle)?

    Hi,
    Would anyone happen to know if there's a java API for executing entire ".sql" files (containing several different SQL commands), on a remote database server ?
    It's enough if the API works with MySQL and/or Oracle.
    Just to demonstrate what i'm looking for:
    Suppose you've created sql file "c:/test.sql" with several script lines:
    -- test.sql:
    insert into TABLE1 values(3,3);
    insert into TABLE1 values(5,5);
    create table TABLE2 (name VARCHER) ENGINE innoDB; -- MYSQL specific
    Then the java API should look something like:
    // Dummy java code:
    String driver="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver";
    String url= "jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/myDb";
    SomeAPI.executeScriptFile( "c:/test.sql", driver, url);
    Thanks.

    No such a API, but it's easy to parse all sqls in a file, then run those command:
    For instance:
    import java.sql.*;
    import java.util.Properties;
    /* A demo show how to load some sql statements. */
    public class testSQL {
    private final static Object[] getSQLStatements(java.util.Vector v) {

  • Loading huge file with Sql-Loader from Java

    Hi,
    I have a csv file with aprox. 3 and a half million records.
    I load this data with sqlldr from within java like this:
               String command = "sqlldr userid=" + user + "/" + pass
                        + "@" + service + " control='" + ctlFile + "'";
                System.out.println(command);
                if (System.getProperty("os.name").contains("Windows")) {
                    p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /C " + command);
                } else {
                    p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("sh -c " + command);
                }it does what I want to, load the data to a certain table, BUT it takes too much time, Is there a faster way to load data to an oracle db from within java?
    Thanks, any advice is very welcome

  • SQL Loader and Java

    Hi,
    I am using a Java Stored Procedure to invoke a SQL Loader process. The RDBMS Version is 8.1.7 on HP-UX 11. I invoke the procedure by calling: exec runcommand('sqlldr user=scott/tiger@orcl control=/home/mydir/ctlfile.ctl log=/home/mydir/logfile.log direct=true errors=550')
    where runcommand is the name of the java stored procedure.
    The SQL Loader process returns a value of 3 which is the return value for an Operating System Error. I am unable to find any errors related to the Operating System. Is there any particular environment variable which needs to be set before running the process.
    I was able to run the same Java Stored Procedure on Personal Oracle on Windows XP without any problems.
    TIA,
    Ramesh

    Hi,
    Make sure that the path for data file in control file is correct.
    Then it serves your purpose.
    Otherwise, give full path to "sqlldr", then run it.
    Please let me know the result.
    Thanks

  • Calling SQL Loader in Java

    I am writing a Java application running on SUN Solaris to perform data feed from a number of csv files to ORACLE. I am to use SQL Loader to perform the loading. What I need is to kick off the SQL Loader in my code. My question is how to kick off the SQL Loader in Java.
    One of option I am thinking is using RunTime.Exec(). Is the following code workable?
    runtime.exec( "sqlldr CONTROL=foo.ctl, LOG=bar.log, USERID=scott/tiger" );
    Althernatively should I write a Oracle store procedure to call the SQL Loader and Java call the store procedure?
    Any thoughts and directions are welcome!
    Regards,

    Hi,
    Can't you achieve the same thing using this
    Class.forName("Driver");
    Connection ocon=DriverManager.getConnection("url");
    Once you have ocon then you can execute any query.
    If this is not what you want,can you explain what SQLLoader means here?

  • Is it possible to load a non-standard image using some Java API?

    Hi,
    My "problem" is:
    1. I have an image called "mediterranean_sea.IMG" (non-standard image format)
    2. I need to process it (histogram, palette, etc).
    3. I'm wondering if it is possible to load this image an process it using some Java API.
    4. I've tried to do this using JAI but I think that this API only works with TIFF, PNG, JPEG, etc.
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Import and process larger data with SQL*Loader and Java resource

    Hello,
    I have a project to import data from a text file in a schedule. A lager data, with nearly 20,000 record/1 hours.
    After that, we have to analysis the data, and export the results into a another database.
    I research about SQL*Loader and Java resource to do these task. But I have no experiment about that.
    I'm afraid of the huge data, Oracle could be slowdown or the session in Java Resource application could be timeout.
    Please tell me some advice about the solution.
    Thank you very much.

    With '?' mark i mean " How i can link this COL1 with column in csv file ? "

  • Executing sqlldr (sql loader) from java and returning the error code

    I'm wandering do sqlldr return any error code whenever it hit error while running in java.
    For example, if i run in command prompt using the command below,
    C:\ >sqlldr uid/pwd data=abc.dat control=abc.txt
    It might give me some indicator that error occurs such as
    SQL*Loader-601: For INSERT option, table must be empty. Error on table CURRENCY
    or
    SQL*Loader-500: Unable to open file (abc.txt)
    SQL*Loader-553: file not found
    SQL*Loader-509: System error: The system cannot find the file specified.
    But when i run in java using the code below,
    Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
    Process proc = rt.exec("sqlldr uid/pwd data=abc.dat control=abc.txt");
    int exitVal = proc.waitFor();
    System.out.println("Process exitValue: " + exitVal);
    it will only give me the same exitValue of 1(i presume its error) / 0 (i presume no error) instead of the details of the error.
    How can i get the exact error code/message if i were to execute it using java?
    Any solution?

    mg,
    I don't think user576271 wants the exit code, I think [s]he wants the error message.
    But wouldn't error messages from SQL*Loader be sent to the stderr stream, and not the stdout stream?
    In which case user576271 would need method "getErrorStream()" of class java.lang.Process, no?
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Calling oracle SQL Loader from java program

    Hi,
    I want to insert data into oracle tables from a text files containing fixed length fields. I am using SQLLoader to achieve this. The requirement is to call the SQLLoader within the java program.
    Does anyone know how to call SQL Loader from java program?
    Thanks,
    Varsha

    Simply "exec" the sqlldr program with the parameters you need to pass to it.
    Runtime.exec (........)
    Try to pass all parameters needed including the username and password, and use the option "silent" to avoid output, and the option "log" to have a log file of the modifications that sqlldr has done to the database.

  • Calling SQL LOADER From Java Program

    Hi
    I need to invoke sql loader from inside a Java Class.
    Any Pointers in this regards will be really appreciated.
    Thanks
    Vishal

    You can create two different files which has sqlldr command defined....
    1. loader.sh
    2. loader.bat
    and in the depending on the OS execute one...
             String command = "";
             if(System.getProperty("os.name").equals("Windows 2000")){
                    //if os is windows 2000  then execute bat file
                     command =  <<bat file path>>
              }else{
                      command = <<shell path>>
              Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
              Process p = rt.exec(command);
              int i = p.exitValue();

    Hi,
    This could be one of those cases where using Java 7 versus Java 6 makes a difference, or perhaps there is some conflict with the JDBC driver version. So, a few things to try...
    1. Make sure your installation's SetJavaHome line in ...\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.conf points to a Java 6 JDK.
    2. If (1) does not work, also uncheck the Use OCI/Thick driver box in Tools -> Preferences -> Database -> Advanced.
    3. If (1) and (2) do not work, also copy the ojdbc6.jar from any Oracle client you might have installed to your installation's ...\sqldeveloper\jdbc\lib directory
    I would think doing just (1) should be sufficient. If on Mac OS, use sqldeveloper-Darwin.conf instead.
    Hope this helps and please post back here and let us know, one way or the other,
    Gary

What I would like to do is to create a csv file with all this information (first_name, last_name, hire_date, sex, email, if it is a purchaser, username, password, responsibility...), and through a request load all this to Oracle Ebs. I want to use hr_employee_api.create_employee, fnd_user_pkg.create_user and fnd_wf_engine.propagate_user_role. I don't want to enter data using inserts because hr_employee_api.create_employee api changes more than one table.
    I hope you can help me
    Thanks in advance

    Why don't you
    * load the data file into a temp table
    * write a procedure that reads the temp table and calls the 3 APIs with the data from each row

  • Load java mail api in javascript

    hello
    well i need to load java mail api in javascript..is it possible to do so
    or anyother alternative is there

    No, JavaMail is implemented in Java and so has nothing to do with JavaScript (except maybe if you are trying to run Javascript inside a Java virtual machine, but I don't think so).

  • Essbase Java Apis- Checking the Load status of Cube

    Hi all,I am using Essbase 7.1 Java Apis.I want to check the Load status of the Cube.I have used the following Api.Cube.getCubeLoadStatus() However there is problem with this Api.If the Cube is not loaded then when I use this Api for the first time, it shows the status as "Not Loaded".However subsequent calls to the same Api shows that the same Cube is "Loaded".Clearly use of this Api results in loading of a Cube which was initilally unloaded.(I belive, in Administrative console right click on Cube -> Stop results in unloading of the Cube)Please answer my following questions :1) Which Api should I use to check the Cube's load status without affecting its current load state.2)I tried using Cube.isActive() Api.However this Api throws an exception for all states of the Cube.3)What is the diffence between a "Loaded" Cube and an "Active" CubeThanks

    1) Which Api should I use to check the Cube's load status without affecting its current load state. <<I don't know the answer to this one.. It seems to me that it may be a bug. You should report this one to Hyperion Tech Support.>>2)I tried using Cube.isActive() Api.However this Api throws an exception for all states of the Cube. <<I haven't tried this one either..>>3)What is the diffence between a "Loaded" Cube and an "Active" Cube <<Finally one I think I can answer.. A loaded cube means, I believe, that the cube has been loaded by the server and is immediately available. An 'active' cube, on the other hand, is the terminology used to specify that a specific connection is connected to, and using, a specific cube. I know several of the VB/C APIs specify that you must set a cube active (on the connection) before you can use the API.Tim TowApplied OLAP, Inc
