I would look at v$sga_resize_ops (or v$memory_resize_ops) to see if there is pressure to move memory around in that time period. Your symptoms could simply be showing load on the buffer cache causing the library cache to shrink leading to agressive demands for library cache locks etc. If so, then fixing a minum shared_pool_size (or generally going to manual memory management) may be the best bet. Also worth checking if there is some inefficient SQL running at that time that results in lots of random I/O - eliminating the cause of disk reads may be the best solution to reducing demand for memory.

How to display newly added bookmarks on top of the list in Unsorted Bookmarks? (not in Bookmark Manager window)

I have hundreds of bookmarks.The Bookmarks Toolbar is filled.I made a shortcut of the "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder and placed it in on the Bookmarks Toolbar.Whenever I click the star to add a bookmark, it adds one to the real Unsorted Bookmarks, which add a copy of that bookmarks into the folder named Unsorted Bookmarks which is on the Bookmarks Toolbar.
When I click on the Unsorted Bookmarks(both original and shortcut folder), it displays the oldest bookmarks on top, which honestly makes no sense to me because the user has to scroll a lot to get to the newest bookmarks, which are more likely to be used than the old ones that have been sitting there for a long time.Is there any way to sort the bookmarks by a reversed chronological order and display newly added ones on top of the list ?
I am aware that you can do this in Bookmarks Manager window(called Library?) but it requires too many steps and it's time consuming and not easy to use in general.I'd rather click on the folder on Bookmarks Toolbar to open my bookmarks, but they show old ones on top.

Hmm, you might need to create a "smart folder" for this. You may have noticed some blue folders in your bookmarks such as "Most Visited" and "Recently Bookmarked". These show the results of a query run against your bookmarks or history (Places database) and you can create your own queries with a little elbow grease.
So one possibility might be to create a custom "Recently Bookmarked" folder that extends beyond the current limit of 10. I gave the steps for creating a 20-item version of this folder in this post: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/934205#answer-358492
That example searched ''all'' bookmarks and not specifically Unsorted Bookmarks. To create a new "smart folder" for Unsorted Bookmarks, you could try this:
(1) Select and copy the following places search query:
place:queryType=1&folder=UNFILED_BOOKMARKS&folder=UNFILED_BOOKMARKS&sort=12&excludeQueries=1

When I sort by date added in Column View in Finder, how can I make the most recent files appear at the top of the list?(Mavericks)

In 10.8, when I sorted Finder by date added or date created in column view, the most recent files would appear at the top of the list. Currently, this happens as it should in every single view mode EXCEPT column view (which is pretty much the only view I ever use). Currently, I have a folder with over 2000 files in it that date back to 2011, so now I have to scroll for like ten minutes just te get to files that were most recently added. Who in their right mind would want to sort by last modified with the oldest result listed FIRST? Ridiculous. I can't figure this out. Any help?

Thanks for the reply leroydouglas! Unfurtunately this doesn't cause the column to be ordered correctly either. After selecting this option, the files seem to be ordered by label, and the most recently added file is somewhere in the middle of the list. I'd like it to be at the top, and have other files/folders descend in retrochronological order by their add date.
Any other input from the community would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just confirming that this is/is not expected behavior. I'd be super bummed to find out that this IS expected behavior, as it's really counterintuitive and extremely inconvenient.

Is there a way to keep unread email at the top of the list? I do not delet email after it's read so I end up with many 'read' email between the un-read email. Is there a way to cluster the un-read email at the top of the list?

Just make a smart mailbox (unread mail) and leave it in the sidebar.

ITunes DJ just puts songs at the top of the list

Ok, something which is really annoying me is that if you want to play a song in iTunes DJ, it just puts it at the top of the list, and all the songs which were before it are still in their place. I want to select a song to play, and start from there as the top of the list, skipping all the songs before it, like what happened in Party Shuffle. Is there any way to do this? Any Applescripts or hidden settings? Thanks for any help

Messages puts a blank conversation at the top of the list

I recently deleted an entire conversation in messages, and now that contact will occasionally update and go to the top of the list. It has a time associated with it as if I had sent a message at that time, but the conversation is still blank. I am worried that the person is trying to send me messages and I am not receiving them. Any ideas?

Why does my messages app on the iphone put 6/7 random contacts who I haven't messaged at the top of the list of people to message?

In my messages app, let's say I sent a text to my friend 'John'. By right, his name and text should appear at the top of the list of messages, right? But instead, my phone decides to put let's say 'Mary', 'Sophie' 'Luke', 'Paul', 'dan' and 'Michelle' all on the top of this list instead. All the messages to/from them are and have been empty/deleted with weeks and i haven't contacted them in weeks either. But my phone still puts them at the top of the list, and the time stamp usually state the current time on my clock at that time. So Even though I texted john seconds ago, these people all remain above his name in my messages, why is this does anyone know?

How do you organize bookmarks so all the folders are listed at the top of the list?

When I click on bookmarks, the folders are scattered among the uncategorized bookmarks that I have added. This makes it harder to sort through. I want all of the folders to stay in alphabetical order at the top of the list, and the individual websites to fall in below this. it is so frustrating to look for bookmarks all mixed together that I just go to internet explorer, where the system seems more logical. I can't find an easy way to set the format I want as a default setting with the folders at the top below the uncategorized items.

My old PC, when scrolling through bookmarks and clicking, would return to the same place when opening bookmarks again. My Mac, book marks always open at the top of the list. Can this be set like my PC?

The PC, (Sony Vaio) if i scrolled half way through my bookmarks and clicked on one, if i returned to bookmarks it would open in the same location from where i clicked previously.
The Mac, every time i open my bookmarks, it opens at the top of the list.
Can this be adjusted to work like my old PC?

How to make most recent messages appear at the top of the list?

I can not find a place in Mail preferences to make my messages in each mailbox ALWAYS appear with the most recent at the top of the list. They seem to revert to the reverse order, even though I laboriously change the order in each mailbox via clicking the top of the date column. I am using primarily .Mac addresses in IMAP format, and three computers. It seems that after I shut down, then restart the next day and my computers all sycn with .Mac, the order goes back to oldest first. How can I fix this? Thanks!

Everytime i have used webmail, the view is always retained with my previous settings. In fact the .Mac web mail help menu says the same thing (see below)
Therefore the last thing i would recommend is to simply reset safari (which will empty the cache), delete all your Mail plist files, and not turn .Mac sync on fully until all systems are sorting consistently on their own....

Looking for a todo app that puts new todos at the top of the list

I've been using Appigo's ToDo for several years now. It's elegant, fast, intuitive, and feature packed. One of the best things it has is the ability to drag todos around manually and their due dates change.
There is one thing, however, that I wish it did. I would like the new todos to appear at the top of the todo list instead of the bottom, so I do not have to scroll through a long list to check if anything new has shown up.
Are there any todo apps that do things this way?

Bug report: Old threads showing up at the top of the list

As a professional web developer I must say that these forums are a disgrace. I wouldn't dare sell such a product.

It happens when a spam post is removed, as in the Catering thread, http://forums.adobe.com/thread/285152?tstart=0, in the Print Design forum, http://forums.adobe.com/community/design_development/printdesign?view=discussions&start=0, where it topped the list for a while with a 1 year old post by Neil after my reporting.
