Sql qery required
Hi all,
DB:Oracle 9i
os :solaris 8
can any one please tell me ....how to check the object(table, index) growth day wise?
thanks,
kk
Edited by: user603328 on Apr 20, 2011 3:08 PM
You must take a "photo" of dba_segments.
day 1
create table spaces as select * from dba_segments;
alter table spaces add (time_snap date);
create trigger for insert mytrigger..... time_snap = sysdate ...;
day 2,3,4, ... n
insert into spaces select * from dba_segments;
In spaces table you'll have the growth by day the all objects. You can take the data to excel and generate the graphic growth.

As the title indicates, I'm having this error during installation. It occurs when I try to install
the "Management Studio" part of the program. I've tried a bunch of things like
copying to hard drive and installing, but to no avail. To isolate the problem, i've even tried removing Reporting services, since at the time of failure it seems to be trying to install/configure the Microsoft.Reporting Services dll.
Additionally, I have SQL Express installed (installed it separately, not as part of the SQL 2005 DVD), VS 2005, .NET Framework 2.0, SQL Management Studio Express CTP. Could the Management Studio Express be causing a problem?
Please note:
Although the error is about missing / corrupt Sql.cab, I have searched the entire dvd for the said file, but there is no file called Sql.cab on the dvd. Am I missing something?
Any solution would be greatly appreciated.
TIAI was installing SQLServer2014_Developer which I had just purchased as a 64bit iso download to VirtualBox Windows_10_64bit Instance that i had just created.

Reading though the many Google hits going way back AD-2000/AD-2006/AD-2011/AD-2014 for various installs including SQLserver_2008/2012 etc
I noted that in the main there were x2 common themes.
1. Problem with corruption the original download.
--- Although I had not run the download checksum
--- I had previously just installed SQLServer2014_Developer successfully, so at the minute, I was confident downloads were ok.
--- Many hits mentioned this 'Sql.cab' file and 90% of the install had been successfull -
--- I figured the chances of us all having corruption of this one files were agaianst the odds and
--- probably re-downloading it would not fix this - but I kicked a re-download off anyhow .
While it was running ...
2. Network issue when installing - some of the hits asked if could be related to Virtual drives.
--- This struck a chord
--- I had downloaded the SQLServer2014 .iso to my host PC and then copied it onto one OneDrive so I could access it within the VirtualBox_Windows_10.
--- From within the VirtualBox_Windows_10 I had then used SetupVirtualCloneDrive5450.exe to mount the OneDrive SQLServer2014 .iso and then autorun the install.
What worked for me ...
--- I decided to
--- 1. Copy the same SQLServer2014 .iso that had failed to install x2 from OneDrive to the c:\ root of the VirtualBox_Windows_10.
--- 2. Remount the same SQLServer2014 .iso from c:\ again using SetupVirtualCloneDrive5450.exe.
--- 3. Re-run the SQLServer2014 install using the repair mode.
This time the [Maintenance] [Repair] install completed with all elements showing installed successfully.
Hope this helps

SQL Licensing Requirement for E-Commerce
Hi Experts,
Does anyone know the SQL licensing requirements for E-Commerce/Web CRM components? Is it within Microsoft licensing guidelines to setup just a single user CAL for all users on the website, or do we need multiple user CALS or a Processor CAL?
Thanks in Advance,
AaronHi AAron,
You will need a SQL CPU License for the webserver or indeed if you plan to use a single server.

High availability SQL Server requirements for Remote Desktop Services in Windows Server 2012
Good night,
Thanks for reading this question, I do not write much English.
I am implementing Remote Desktop Services in Windows Server 2012, I need to know the size of the database to create and feature on the .mdf and .ldf, I searched in different microsoft link but I have not received a response.
Kindly appreciate your cooperation and attention.Hi Alejandro,
I am implementing Remote Desktop Services in Windows Server 2012, I need to know the size of the database to create and feature on the .mdf and .ldf
If you want to know the size requirements of .mdf abd .ldf files, since they are parts of SQL database, I suggest you refer to SQL forums below to get more professional support:
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/home?forum=sqlgetstarted
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/home
In addition, here are some articles regarding RDS deployment for you:

List of sql services required for deployment server?
What are the role of list of sql services in case of BizTalk, like notification service is required for BAM.
Along with can any one let me know the minimum services of SQL required on production.
1.Database Engine Services
SQL Server Replication
Full-Text Search
2.Analysis Services
3.Reporting Services
4.Shared Features
Business Intelligence Development Studio
Client Tools Connectivity
Integration Services
Management Tools – Basic
Is it mandatory to install analysis, integration services on production server.
Please suggest!
FredSorry, that is not correct. SQL components beyond Database Services are required in most circumstances.
It's important you understand what to install based on your application requirements.
The definitive guides can be found here:
BizTalk Server 2009:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=4066
BizTalk Server 2010:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa561167.aspx
BizTalk Server 2013:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj248688(v=bts.80).aspx
As a matter of practice, I always install all BizTalk realted SQL Server features, even if they are not used. This is for consistency across environments, reliable patching and to accomodate any future BizTalk app features. -
Hi,
In the interest of just getting started and learning the basics of setting up TFS, I previously setup an IDE using a large workstation running Windows 8. I set up the required servers for TFS using VM's through Hyper-V. I am now transferring
everything to a new and separate physical server.
My question stems from a problem I had when I originally setup the TFS system the 1st time. I couldn't get SQL server to work using the Server 2012 R2 download from the subscription center. When I used Server 2012, it worked, so I proceeded that
way just to get going.
So now I'm setting things up anew on a new physical box, I want to ask up front, is there some difference in the R2 version that causes problems with either TFS or SQL server, or was there likely some oversight on my part when I did things the 1st time?
As an addendum to my question, I always assumed R2 merely means the Server software has progressed to a refined state and is ready for wide distribution and easy setup. I assumed that there are no differences between the Standard version and the R2
version. Is that understanding correct?
Thanks.Hi Daniel,
Thanks for your response. That's a great link. I don't recall seeing a page that is so clear and easy to read back when I was doing this the 1st time, but I probably just missed it. That helps.
I am/was using TFS2013 and VS2013. As I recall, my problem was getting SQL Server to work, but I thought asking this question on this forum was wiser because I figured everyone using TFS would be well familiar with these issues.
At any rate, it seems as though TFS2013 is fine with Server 2012 standard or R2.
I was using SQL Server 2012, and it also seems as though it works on R2:
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143506(v=sql.110).aspx
Anyway, thanks for your support. I'll be trying this again and we'll see. -
SQL server requirement in UCCE
I met one problem:
we need to use CUIC 8.5 to query an external data source. According to the BoM from CISCO, only SQL 2005 is supported.
i would like to share the SQl 2005 of HDS or other UCCE SQl 2005. Is it possible? You are right, David.
because the reporting requires some customized data, we have to connct to an external database.
if we can share the database engine of HDS server, we can get more benefits.
COuld we put another database to the HDS server SQL server? I will not change any setting on HDS database. -
Rapid Installer - MS SQL server requirements
I am wanting to install the SAP Netweaver 2.1 Rapid Installer package. It states that it requires MS SQL Server Enterprise edition. Can the Rapid Installer be installed with MS SQL server standard edition instead of Enterprise edition?

Gardner Denverhi david, i'm trying to install Rapid Installer 2.1 on my PC and during installation i got this error message:
ERROR 2005-09-12 16:28:18
MDB-05508 Errors were found when checking connection to or configuration of database server (listed above in the log file).
is it possible that this occurs 'cause my DB is MS SQL SERVER 2000 and not Enterprise edition ? consider that this version of DB was included in RI pack installation
thanks in advance,

MS SQL Licensing Requirements for use with EIS
Does anybody know what the licensing requirements are for MS SQL to use it with Integration Services and Essbase? We have a couple of small apps that I want to start using with EIS/Essbase/Analyzer. My procurement department is telling me that I need to buy a SQL license for each server processor, because I am web-enabling data that's in SQL. Anyone have any info on this? Thanks!
That is really a MS question. But I do know pretty much how MS licensing works. If you decided to get processing based licensing, it is based on the processors on the machine where SQL is installed - NOT the number of processors of machines that will be accessing it. The repositories for EIS and Analyzer is 'minimal'. You can (should) install SQL on a single processor box and have both EIS/Analyzer use it.However, if you do install it on the Essbase box (which can be faster), you would have to secure a license equal to the number of processors on that box.If you do put it on a separate box, make sure you SA puts it 'close' to the Essbase/EIS/Analyzer box to limit network trafic.Rich [email protected]

Thanks,Based on the info supplied, here's a few possibilities,
you've typed the table name incorrectly
You've not restricted the results correctly,
you're using a version of oracle that doesn't support the CASE expression
You're using SQL server, which doesn't have the dual table.
you've / someone has manipulated teh dual table so that it now has 4billion and one rows
The subquery in your case statement returns more than one row.
1. It's poorly/not formatted.
2. It's not in code tags
3. You haven't given us anywhere near enough info e.g. Error messages, what you're actually trying to do etc, etc -
SQL server requirement for sharepoint 2013
Hello All,
currently i have installed SharePoint2013 in server farm mode, and i have used SQL Server 2008 R2 for DB. Can i use SQL Server 2012 for SharePoint 2013?
ThanksSharePoint 2013 is compatible with SQL 2008 R2 and SQL 2012 so yes.
What you can do is "move" the SharePoint DBs from SQL 2008 R2 to SQL 2012 without restore or backup.

Next year we're upgrading our SQL server since its base OS is Windows Server 2003.
We have software that accesses the SQL server using 1 main login but there are 40 users that run this application simultaneously. There are a few file shares on this server as well for output files run by the application. If I understand it correctly, we
would need:
40 User CALs for Windows Server 2012
40 SQL CALs for the SQL server access
Is this correct? I've heard User CALs only apply for Terminal Services, which isn't true in this case. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Next year we're upgrading our SQL server since its base OS is Windows Server 2003.

Licensing can be tricky to get right, so, rely on a reputable authorised reseller/partner who is trained by MSFT on the deep detail, and, can prepare various options for you to consider, based on your current holdings, immediate plans, and longer-term plans
- this can help you to be compliant, and potentially save you money over time. Sometimes there are special offers, transitional/bridging options, etc.
In general, MSFT products aren't licensed on a "concurrent connections" basis at all, this means that you might need to license more users, or devices, than you might think. It sounds like you're aware of the "multiplexing" clause (where
connections are direct and/or indirect). SQL is also a bit different, in that anybody/anything which electronically consumes the benefit of the SQL data, probably needs a SQL CAL.
(PS: I'm not an MSFT employee, nor am I a partner touting for business :) [but I do know the value an experienced reseller/partner brings, since we have a really good one ourselves, and, we've had not-so-good ones in the past...]
