SQL Query Interface

Hi,
Is there an interface(API) in coherence where i can specify a SQL query and get the corresponding results.
Regards,
Sudhir Gupta

Hi Sudhir -
There is no SQL support in the current version of Coherence. While future versions may support it, it's still important to understand the difference between a relational database and a data grid; even with SQL support in Coherence, you still would not want to use it in the same way that you use a database.
Oracle also offers a product called TimesTen, which is an in-memory SQL database. In its latest release, it offers several clustering options, and it integrates with the Oracle database to provide caching support in front of (for example) an Oracle RAC system. If this sounds like what you're looking for:

  • Use a manual SQL query in an interface

    Hello,
I would like to know if I can use a manual SQL query in an interface.
    Here is what I need.
    I have two tables.
    T1 with 4 fields :
    idT1, LibC, val, lib_val
An example of a line from T1
    1, field1, 33 , value 33
    2, field2, 44 , value 44
And table T2 with fields such as:
    idT2, ... , field1, field2
There is no key to join T1 and T1, but I should retrieve the value of field lin_val from T2 which corresponds to the value of field1.
In SQL, the query looks like this:
    SELECT t2.lib_val
    FROM t2 , t1
    WHERE T2.LibC = "Column_name"
    AND T2.val = T1.Column_name
    AND t1.idT1 = xyz

You should go for yellow interface. It will solve your problem. Here you go

  • SQL query generating data in SQL management studio but not in CUIC interface

    Hello,
    I'm working on a UCCE 9.0 system
I created SQL query for a  report.
Whenever I run the query inside the SQL management studio, it works and generates data, but when I run it in the CUIC interface it works but generates nothing. As you can see in the below snapshot, it contains 209 records that are not being displayed.
Any help would be greatly apprciated

Is it a custom report ? Can you right click on your Custom Report and click on Edit Views. You need to check whether you have Grid Headers Listed.

  • Desiging an interface using SQL query

    Hi All,
REQ: I have some SQL queries , i need to desing an interface for it .. in ODI 10G
That SQL query contain subquery like
    // SELECT
    ooh.header_id
    ,ooh.sold_to_org_id as customer_account_id
    ,ooh.order_number
    NVL((
    SELECT
    SUM(opa.adjusted_amount)
    FROM
    apps.oe_price_adjustments opa
    WHERE
    opa.Header_id = ooh.header_id))
    SELECT ())//
    so on ...;
I'am not sure how to impliment interfaces for the above query.
I mean query contains so many sub-querys, Do I need to create separate interface for each SELECT statement.
If so how to bind that tables in the interface.
    Thanks
    vam

    Hi
How are linked your subqueries ?
Are the subqueries in the main select statement, or in the from statement, or separated by union clause ?
One issue is to create view in your database that represents some subqueries, and generate a datastore for these view.
Then create one interface that use these different view.
Another solution is to create many interfaces, you can creat "yellow interfaces" and use the option "subqueries".

    Hi
I am facing a problem when I am getting the results of a query from the ORacle 8i database using jdbc connection.
The query is having a date field and I have to sort the query results using ORDER By for the Date field. The query is giving exact results in the SQL PLus interface.
When I am getting this results in the GUI where servlets are being used an Exception is coming as not supported RefreshRow method.
If anyone has faced this problem and have got the solutions please let me know.
    thanks

That doesn't sound at all like an SQL problem.
More like you trying to do updates on the resultset which is not allowed ...

  • Apex 4.2 Report region sql query with "apex_item.text" renders wrongly

In APEX 4.2 page i have created region "Report data".
    Type="SQl Query".
    "User Interface"-->"Template"="Reports Region".
    "Region Source"="select apex_item.text(1, '111') as c1 from dual".
Actually the select query is little bit more complex, but generally simplified it is such, that it uses function "select apex_item.text" to construct HTML textfield.
If i run in Sql Developer query
    select apex_item.text(1, '111') as c1 from dual;Then result is:
    <input type="text" name="f01" size="20" maxlength="2000" value="111"  />But in APEX 4.2 the report is rendered so:
    <td  headers="c1">&lt ;input type=&quot ;text&quot ; name=&quot;f01&quot; size=&quot;20&quot; maxlength=&quot;2000&quot; value=&quot;111&quot;  /&gt ;</td>(for this forum to display correctly i had to put extra spaces between" &gt" and ";" and so on)
And APEX 4.2 shows ugly html inside report cell/slot for me, displaying characters/symbols ">". The reason is that APEX HTML page source does not have symbol ">" but has " &gt ;" .
In APEX 3 i have similar query working well, without such anomaly.
What attribute should i change in APEX 4.2 region to display my query result as needed?
I need that function "apex_item.text", i cannot remove it.

Since this is a synchronous interface, where source is a soap(proxy) call and target is JDBC in the first mapping both of them are request scenarios.
    Source Structure:
    RootNode
        Request             1...unbounded
           No_of_Days   1.1 String
    Target Structure:
    RootNode
       Statement
         TableName
             Action mapped to SQL_QUERY
            Access -  SELECT DISTINCT AL.EC_NO,DP.DATE_TO_FORMAL FROM T_APPLICATION_LIST AL,(SELECT DE.EC_NO AS "EC_NO", DE.PACKAGE_NO AS "PACKAGE_NO",PC.DATE_TO_FORMAL AS "DATE_TO_FORMAL" FROM DAICYO_ECNO DE,PACKAGECTL PC WHERE DE.PACKAGE_NO = PC.PACKAGE_NO AND PC.DATE_TO_FORMAL > (TRUNC(SYSDATE) - to_number('$No_Of_DAYS$'))) DP WHERE AL.EC_NO IN  (SELECT EC_NO FROM DAICYO_ECNO WHERE PACKAGE_NO IN (SELECT PACKAGE_NO FROM PACKAGECTL WHERE DATE_TO_FORMAL > (TRUNC(SYSDATE) - to_number('$No_Of_DAYS$')))) AND (AL.FAMILY = ''  or  '' is null and AL.FAMILY is not null ) and DP.EC_NO = AL.EC_NO ORDER BY DATE_TO_FORMAL
         Key
          No_Of_Days   1..1 String
In Return I am expecting a JDBC response from the Oracle Database as:
    Source Structure:
    RootNode
      STATEMENT_response   1...unbounded
         row                               0...undbounded
           EC_NO                        1..1   String
    Target Structure:
    RootNode
      RESPONSE
        row
         EC_NO                     1..1     String

  • OutOfMemory error while executing sql query

    Hello!
My program gets multiple datas from database in every ten minutes, and stores them in memory for hundreds of users, requesting datas via web-interface simoultaneously.
I dont have access to change database structures, write stored procedures, etc, just read from db.
There is a table in database with lot of million rows, and sometimes when I try to execute a SELECT on this table it takes minutes to get back the result.
To avoid waiting for database server for a long time, I set querytimeout to 30 seconds.
If the server throws back the execution with Query Timed out Exception, I want to 'forget' this data, and 0 value is acceptable because of fast run is more important. So I put the boolean broken variable to check if there is any problem with db server.
The size of the used memory is about 150Mb if things going well, but I set the max heap to 512 MB, just in case anything happens.
I'm logging all threads stacktrace, and free/used/allocated memory size in every 5 seconds.(threadwatching.log) 2.appendix
Sometimes, not in every case (I dont know what is this depends on), when I get the next phase of refreshing cached datas (you can see it below), the process reaches the fiorst checkpoint (signed in code below), starts to execute the sql query, and never reaches the second checkpoint , but used memory growing 50-60 Mb-os in every 5 seconds, as I can see in threadwatching.log until it reaches the max memory and throws OutOfMemory error: java heap space.
I'm using DbConnectionBroker for connection pooling, SQLCommandBean for handling Statements, PreparedStatements, etc, and jTDS jdbc connector.
SQLCommandBean closes statements, resultsets, so these objects doesnt stays open.
I cant figured out what causes the memory leak, if someone have an idea, please help me.

What does your query bring back from this table? This is the query:
SELECT case sum(c.picked) when 0 then 0 else
    ((sum(c.picked)-(sum(c.picked)-(sum(c.vacuum)+sum(c.id
    ent))))*cast((1000000/cast(sum(c.picked) as float))
    as bigint)) end as PPM
    FROM sip_comp c
LEFT JOIN sip_pcb pc ON pc.id=c.pcbid
    LEFT JOIN sip_period p on p.id=pc.periodid
WHERE p.stationid=? AND pc.time BETWEEN ? AND ?Has anybody who knows SQL tried EXPLAIN PLAN to optimize this table? You're joining on a table with a million rows and you're wondering why the performance is poor?
What is the index situation with these tables?
.> When I execute it from query manager, it takes from 1
to 60 secs depend on servers availability. So how will that be any different for JDBC and Java?
..> You're right. Thats why I am here.
What I mean by that is we can't read minds, either. You need to get some hard data to tell you where the bottleneck is. Asking at a forum won't help.
But tell me, if the java process enters to this query
execution, and doesnt quit until OOM thrown, how can
be the problem in caching?I was guessing about caching, because I didn't know what the query was.
    You expect a lot.
    .> No.
Then how do you ever expect to solve this?
I tried YourKit Profiler at home, where I'm
developing software, but this OOM never thrown here,
even if I have the same database size. Then you aren't replicating the problem. You have to run it on the system that has the problem if you're going to solve it.
YourKit isn't an industry leader. How well do you know how to use it?
It just happened at the company where the system
runs, and I cannot run this profiler there because
the PC where my tomcat runs dramatically slowed. You have to run something to figure out what the problem is. What about Log4J, some trace logging statements and a batch job to harvest the log?
Bottom line: you've got to be a scientist and get some real data. We can theorize all we want here, but that won't get you to a solution.

  • Issue with SQL Query with Presentation Variable as Data Source in BI Publisher

    Hello All
I have an issue with creating BIP report based on OBIEE reports which is done using direct SQL. There is this one report in OBIEE dashboard, which is written using direct SQL. To create the pixel perfect version of this report, I am creating BIP data model using SQL Query as data source. The physical query that is used to create OBIEE report has several presentation variables in its where clause.
    select TILE4,max(APPTS), 'Top Count' from
    SELECT c5 as division,nvl(DECODE (C2,0,0,(c1/c2)*100),0) AS APPTS,NTILE (4) OVER ( ORDER BY nvl(DECODE (C2,0,0,(c1/c2)*100),0))  AS TILE4,
c4 as dept,c6 as month FROM
    select sum(case  when T6736.TYPE = 'ATM' then T7608.COUNT end ) as c1,
sum(case  when T6736.TYPE in ('Call Center', 'LSM') then T7608.CONFIRMED_COUNT end ) as c2,
         T802.NAME_LEVEL_6 as c3,
         T802.NAME_LEVEL_1 as c4,
         T6172.CALENDARMONTHNAMEANDYEAR as c5,
         T6172.CALENDARMONTHNUMBERINYEAR as c6,
         T802.DEPT_CODE as c7
    from
         DW_date_DIM T6736 /* z_dim_date */ ,
         DW_MONTH_DIM T6172 /* z_dim_month */ ,
         DW_GEOS_DIM T802 /* z_dim_dept_geo_hierarchy */ ,
         DW_Count_MONTH_AGG T7608 /* z_fact_Count_month_agg */
    where  ( T802.DEpt_CODE = T7608.DEPT_CODE and T802.NAME_LEVEL_1 =  '@{PV_D}{RSD}'
    and T802.CALENDARMONTHNAMEANDYEAR = 'July 2013'
    and T6172.MONTH_KEY = T7608.MONTH_KEY and T6736.DATE_KEY = T7608.DATE_KEY
    and (T6172.CALENDARMONTHNUMBERINYEAR between substr('@{Month_Start}',0,6)  and substr('@{Month_END}',8,13))
and (T6736.TYPE in ('Call Center', 'LSM')) )
    group by T802.DEPT_CODE, T802.NAME_LEVEL_6, T802.NAME_LEVEL_1, T6172.CALENDARMONTHNAMEANDYEAR, T6172.CALENDARMONTHNUMBERINYEAR
    order by c4, c3, c6, c7, c5
    ))where tile4=3 group by tile4
When I try to view data after creating the data set, I get the following error:
    Failed to load XML
XML Parsing Error: mismatched tag. Expected: . Location: http://172.20.17.142:9704/xmlpserver/servlet/xdo Line Number 2, Column 580:
Now when I remove those Presention variables (@{PV1}, @{PV2}) in the query with some hard coded values, it is working fine.
So I know it is the PV that's causing this error.
How can I work around it?
There is no way to create equivalent report without using the direct sql..
    Thanks in advance

I have found a solution to this problem after some more investigation. PowerQuery does not support to use SQL statement as source for Teradata (possibly same for other sources as well). This is "by design" according to Microsoft. Hence the problem
is not because different PowerQuery versions as mentioned above. When designing the query in PowerQuery in Excel make sure to use the interface/navigation to create the query/select tables and NOT a SQL statement. The SQL statement as source works fine on
a client machine but not when scheduling it in Power BI in the cloud. I would like to see that the functionality within PowerQuery and Excel should be the same as in Power BI in the cloud. And at least when there is a difference it would be nice with documentation
    or more descriptive errors.

  • SQL Query Works in MS SQL Server 2008 but not when using Database Toolkit

    I have this SQL query:
    DECLARE @DataTypeTable TABLE (
    Name varchar(128),
    TypeID INT)
--Add comma delimeted data type names to temp table
    INSERT INTO @DataTypeTable (Name)
    SELECT * FROM WhatWeShouldDoRead.func_Split(@DataTypeTrimmed,',')
    SELECT Name FROM @DataTypeTable
Which takes a comma delimited string and returns the string as a table.  It works correctly in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.  When I run this as a stored procedure  I get back nothing.  There are no errors, SQL or otherwise.  I've verified that I am connected to the correct database and that the stored procedure is loaded by changing the no error string that is reported from this stored procedure (that code is not shown in the above example).  Has anyone seen this problem before, or have any experiance with SQL/Labview interfaces to tell me what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

After doing some more research it appears that the database toolkit cannot interface with any table results from any type of temp table.  It may have to do with the fact that MS SQL 2008 stores temp tables in a seperate database (tempdb) and not the database you are currently connected to.  See this link for a good artical on temp tables:
    http://databases.aspfaq.com/database/should-i-use-a-temp-table-or-a-table-variable.html
If possible,  I'd like a someone to prove me wrong, but for now will have to settle for exporting the contents of a temp table through a string.

  • Using prompts with SQL query

    Post Author: wleonetti
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
    Hello!
I have acquired a report from our regional headquarters, and have been asked locally to add a prompt to one that already exists in the report.
The report currently uses an SQL query, which in turn uses a single prompt to limit the data reported. However, the name of the parameter in the Field Explorer in Parameter Fields is "Facility", but, when I use the Database Expert and select edit for the query (under Selected Tables, right-click on "Command" under the database and click on "Edit Command"--is Command a default name?), under the Parameter List, the name of the parameter there is "Facility1" (?). The SQL references the parameter "Facility1" (...like '{?Facility1}'), but I cannot find any link/interface between the Parameter List "Facility1" to the Parameter Field "Facility", and I cannot find any other references to "Facility1" anywhere else in the report (sorry, I'm very new at CR, and am not sure how to do a global search of a desired text string in the reports).
I have asked the author for an explanation, but he would only offer, after indicating that he ... was not obligated to help me in any way .., the following bone: "I just simply rename the parameter in Command from Facility1 to Facility which bears the same name as the parameter interface and it just works fine." This only served to confuse me more, since the parameter name currently in Command is  "Facility1" (and the report works the way it is)--when I change the name of the parameter in Parameter List (and the parameter name in the SQL query) to "Facility" (to match the Parameter Field's "Facility"?) ... the parameter in the Parameter Fields ... disappears?
Can someone please instruct me how to, in whatever steps are necessary, add a parameter to the Parameter Fields and edit the SQL code to use that parameter? or point me to some documentation that will help me with this?
Thanks in advance for any help offered.

    Hi Eric,
Try expressing the source as this:
    begin
       return functionname(to_date('30-sep-2010', 'dd-mon-yyyy'));
end; That works fine for me, and if I take out the begin-end and the trailing semicolon from the return statement I get the same behavior as you.
It does mention in the help for the source (only during the wizard though) that this source type has to be expressed that way, but I agree it would be helpful if the tool would validate for this format when 'Function Returning SQL Query' is used or give some sort of indication of the trouble. Anyway, this should get you going again.
    Hope this helps,
    John

  • Tool for visually building an SQL query?

    Hello,
Can anybody recommend a good tool that allows building an Oracle SQL query through a visual interface (similar to MS Access query builder)?
I checked Oracle SQL Developer (from Oracle) but apparently it only allows building SELECT queries visually, I need to be able to create UPDATE and INSERT statements as well...
    Thank you,
    M.R.

I'm not very clear on what you want or what you are trying to 'simulate'.
If you are looking for a way to "build a gui" that allows you to simultaneously modify multiple rows of data in a table:
This sounds like a "tabular form" in Oracle APEX (which is free with all editions of Oracle including the free XE edition. )
URL for the out-of-the-box sample "application" that demonstrates a Tabular Form for modifying the EMP table:
    https://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=71793:4
    name/password:  demo/demo

  • Is there a fix limit how long an SQL query may be?

    Hello,
I am currently writing an application (java/jdbc/thin-driver) which executes a simple but very big query which looks like the following:
SELECT CALKEY, PERSNO, MANDT FROM PERSONS WHERE MANDT='1' AND PERSNO='100471' OR MANDT='1' AND PERSNO='100838' OR MANDT='1' AND PERSNO='101010' (to be continued the next 400kb)
For now I am not able to test it with oracle but a not as professional database aborts simply by throwing an SQLException even with that "small" 400kb query, however this query could easily grow to 2-5mb too.
Will the oracle jdbc-thin driver correctly process that large queries (and how fast?) and are there limits for the size of an SQL query?
Thank you in advance, lg Clemens

Hello and thats a lot for the suggestions and tips you gave me.
where does all those 100471, 100838 came from ? would
not it make sense to have those in the database? The problem lies in the fact that I get this data from our sap->db interface with beeing the "100471" the personal numbers of our users. So it would not make that much sence (from the performance point of view) to create a temporary table since the whole time needed to create+fill+drop the table would take longer than this approach.
Thanks for the tips with the different synthax this really should reduce the lenght of the query.
I also implemented a lenght-limit now, if the query string would become larger than a dynamically set limit a second query is generated and results are both added to a list.
Thanks a lot for all this useful tips and suggestion, lg Clemens
