SQL query requested to pull one field out of multiple records

We use Track IT to manage our ticket base. We have parent work orders and child assignments that I am trying to report on. What I want to do is create a view, or even if this can be done in a formula, is pull data from the main work order, which in our scnerio and accorindg to the database diagrapm is WORKORDERTYPEID = 0, It will pull the TASKS.RESPONS field from that WO. Then it will compare the TASKS.PARETNWOID to WOID and if WORKORDERTYPEID = 1 then it needs to return the TASKS/RESPONS field of that record, and there may be three records or so. Then What I may need it to do is organize it maybe into seperate columns so I can add each one to Crystal keeping in mind that it will need to link those records to main WOID of the parent so it will display on one line. Any ideas

Using the last column which is the workordertypeid, I was able to elimate the first row of data, which is the parent work order, but see how it is returning the technician name twice, where the second row returns me as the primary and then the technician on the assignment WO as well, which I want. In Crystal I have it only selecting the rows with the 1 is the last column, since those rows have the data arranged how I want them to be.
Once issue that just arose, is what if we only had one work order that we wanted to report on in the subreport. since the WO will get a 0 in the last column, it will never be selected in the report. Is there a way to either us a statement that selects it if it is the only WO listed compared by the WOID field, or if there is a way in SQL, to get what is showing in row 2 to be the only row returned back so I can then show all work orders regardless if they are an assignment
Here is my current SQL query

    My DEV environment has just been upgraded from 10g version 10.2.0.2.0 to 10.2.0.4.0.
    I created the following process to select some values into some items on my Form page.

    So I copied the SQL into the Process condition, removed the "into" section and set the condition type to be "Exists (SQL query retruns at least one row) ...

    The condition would fire even if there were no rows returning.
    I pasted the condition code into SQL Developer connected to the DEV (10.2.0.4.0) environment and it returned no rows.
    To solve the problem, I removed the MAX.
    You can test this using this code if you have access to the two versions... select  MAX(1)
          , sysdate
          , 'Gus'
    from  dual
    where 1 = 2
    group by sysdate, 2Now I know the MAX isn't required in the condition as I'm just trying to find out if any rows exist, but it was there as I copied the code in... I was just wondering why this happened between 10.2.0.2.0 and 10.2.0.4.0?

    Hi Gus,
    try to execute
    select count(*) from dual where exists (select  MAX(1)
          , sysdate
          , 'Gus'
    from  dual
    where 1 = 2
    group by sysdate, 2)in SQL Developer. The above statement is generated by APEX for an "Exists (SQL query retruns at least one row)". Can't test it, because I don't have a 10.2.0.4.0 at hand.
    Does SQL Developer now show the same behavior?

    Requirement given: ZINVB4P_UOP - Acct Payable Rpt - Blocked for Paymt note:  add the scheduled due date near the invoice date. This report is a little different then in legacy and has way too much data so if you could create an new radio button to make it match legacy for standadizaiton that would be great.

  • SQL- Query that return only one record

    Hello,
    is it possible to execute a pure SQL-Query which returns only one row although multiple rows are found.
    It is no problem in PL/SQL, but I have no idea if the same is also possible in SQL.

    Why not? There are 4 records in this table, but only selected one.

  • SQL Query (updateable report) - Can't figure out how to make one

    Hi folks,
    Can someone tell me how to make a report where the data can be updated? Not an interactive report, a SQL report that selects only one row. The only options in the drop down I see are "SQL Query" and "SQL Query (PL/SQL function body returning SQL query)", but I have a report elsewhere that says it's type is "SQL Query (updateable report)", but I can't remember how to do it :(

  • Pulling one worksheet out of workbook

    I have a workbook that goes back about 6 years to when we were on desktop. It has grown to around 30 worksheets. There are 2 worksheets that I would like to make its own workbook. In desktop, all I had to do was select the worksheet and "pull" it right out to another workbook or to the desktop where it created a new workbook. Since in disco plus I can only have one workbook open at a time, is there an easy way to do make another workbook or do I have to rename this workbook and go delete worksheet 30 times? Also, if I wanted to add another worksheet to this new workbook from a different workbook, is the only way to do this is to recreate the wheel in the new workbook?

    I asked out IT guy and they pulled the plug on desktop so that is not an option. What I did instead of rename and delete, I scheduled the report with just the tabs I wanted and saved that as my new workbook. Plus has some nice functions that desktop didn't have, mainly being able to export the query and then using excel to refresh my data without going back into discoverer.... learned that on my own. But I still say plus is a step back in time. Oh well...

    I have 3 code fields with their percentages (_pct). I have concatinated them so I can format them nicely on the page.
    I have create a process 'on-submit and before computations and validations' where I was hoping to assign my table columns (eg the code and pct columns) from the APEXITEMs in my select statement.
    I can get the values from these (APEX_ITEM) fields by referencing APEX_APPLICATION.G_F10(i) etc.... so thats cool.
    But my problem is how do I reference the table columns so I can assign them.
    I am using a 'Multi Row Update' process to perform the update to the database.
    P.S. mycomments column is working fine. It gets updated nicely but its just those other APEX_ITEM fields.

    I don't have the apex_application.g_f01(i) referenced in the page source...In the page source you wouldn't find anything by that name
    Identify the tabular form's checkbox column in the page(firebug/chrome developer panel makes this easy)

    Replace that number in the code, for instance if it was f05 , the code would use

Your scalar subquery to get the percentage is not restricted by the current site. Add filter columns to restrict the selected values for the computation

  • SQL Query CASE statement using two fields

    Hi,
    I have two fields. One is called rescategory1, the other is called rescategory2.
    I'm not sure if its a CASE statement I need or some sort of WHERE clause but I want to create a query that does the following or something similar:
    CASE rescategory2
    WHEN rescategory1 = '44' AND rescategory2 = '1' THEN 'Backup'
    WHEN rescategory1 = '44' AND rescategory2 = '2' THEN 'Hardware'
    END AS [Resolution Sub Category]
    Basically, I'm looking to give rescategory2 a value based on that of rescategory1 and rescategory2 combined.
    How do I write this?

    I have a table similar to scott.emp table and i should get first three recently joined employees salaries according to their joined date from each deptno
    output should like this:
    deptno firstempsalary secondemplsal thirdemploysalary

    30 xx xxx xxxx
    40 xx
    50 xx xxxx xxx
    60 xx xx
    70 xx
    it means that 70 dept having only one employee and 20 dept having only two employees and 10 dept having more than three employees but we should get only three recently joined employees salaries from 10 dept.
    Hope this is clear .. please give me a query to get this info ..

    Problem here is what to do when employees have the same join date? This example will arbitrarily choose their order and if, for example, three employees share the same (most recent) join date then they will arbitrarily be classed as "first", "second" and "third". If four employees join at the same time, one of them will be ignored at random!

          Above merge statement will actually merge entire data . But i want the first row will only get inserted to the base table (Mob_Main). If we take name 'n1' first row from table Mob_Desc with ID as '10' only should get inserted. I can go for a cursor to do this as i have huge data volume i prefer merge instead.

    permission to specific set of users, and then the normal approval workflow happens. The whole workflow condition works fine, but if the user is raising multiple requests one after another, the workflow seems to break either in the Break inheritance or granting
    permission. If the user raises only one or two requests then everything works fine.
    Below are the errors which I am getting in the workflow:
    Error 1:
    Error: Save Conflict. Your changes conflict with those made concurrently
    by another user. If you want your changes to be applied, click Back in your Web
    browser, refresh the page, and resubmit your changes.

    I have also implemented the "Reload" thing posted in the above URL. This error only happens when multiple new requests are getting raised by same user. This error does not happen if I terminate the workflow and re-start the workflow.
    How to fix this?

    Hi,
    Based on my understanding, you have a Visual Web Part for adding new item into a list. A workflow will be triggered when item creation in this list. Everything works
    fine except when an user adds multiple items in a short period.
    If this is the case, plus with the error message, a possible cause is that the SharePoint Server and the workflow engine are not functioning effectively enough to
    handle the multiple request in a short time, therefore a scenario is that when there is new item being added into the database, the workflow modifies the “RoleAssignments” property of this item at the same time, this may cause a “Save Conflict” error.
    As you said, “If the user raises only one or two requests then everything works fine”, a workaround is that you can disable the adding item function in Visual Web
    Part forcibly in a specific period after a new item is being added by current user, it can leave some time for handling the item creation and item modification.
    Or if there is a need to submit multiple items concurrently, we can organize the requests into one request, then handle this item with other custom logic in your workflow.

    1. Below query will give you status of all the request.
    SELECT REQ.REQUEST_ID , REQ.REQUEST_STATUS FROM REQUEST REQ
    2. You can have following status
    Obtaining Operation Approval
    Obtaining Template Approval
    Operation Approval Approved
    Operation Approval Rejected
    Post Operation Processing Initiated
    Request Approval Rejected
    Request Closed
    Request Completed
    Request Created
    Request Failed
    Request Withdrawn
    Template Approval Rejected
    3. Now prepare the query from above sapmle, the requset status string should not contains foloowing values.
    Rejected
    Failed
    Closed
    Withdrawn
    Completed
    The builded query will give you the desired result for 11g
    for 10 G
    Get the OST_STATUS from Req table, and do you logic above stated
