SQL script in Job

Hi everyone,
i made a PL/SQL block and scheduled as a job of "SQL script" type.
Inside my code i trigger an exception (raise_application_error)
when i run the job i can see this error in the execution details, but the job is marked as Succeded.
Instead I wish to be warn when such a case happen. This check was supposed to raise a critical state and follow the notification flow.
Anyone knows I to do that?
Thanks

Hi,
It sounds like you are using the Grid Control Scheduler not the Oracle Database Scheduler dbms_scheduler.
If your job does not show up in dba_scheduler_jobs then you are using the Grid Control scheduler and you should post this on the Grid Control Forum.
If your job does show up in dba_scheduler jobs then you should post the code being used to create the job (by clicking show sql) and the relevant rows from dba_scheduler_jobs and dba_scheduler_job_run_details.
Hope this helps,
Ravi.

  • Using &variables in a SQL Script scheduled job within OEM

    Hi...I've been searching through the forum looking for any examples of setting up a job within OEM, using the SQL Script job type, where I can basically use a WHERE clause that says 'where column_name = &variable_name' and somehow provide that at run time, as if I were in a SQL*Plus session and using a PROMPT and ACCEPT command. I thought there might be a way to emulate that situation by placing the value I'd like to qualify on within some placeholder in the Parameter section of the job. We have a few users who have limited access to OEM and need to run queries on GRANTS and ROLES for various users etc. I realize there are other ways to do this, however I'm wondering if OEM has a capability like this. Any info is appreciated! Tks!

    Looks like you're missing the schema name and you'll want to use QUOTENAME to add delimiters to the objects
    e.g.
    DECLARE @DATABASE AS VARCHAR(50)
    DECLARE @SchemaName as SYSNAME;
    DECLARE @TABLE AS VARCHAR(50)
    DECLARE @QUERY AS VARCHAR(MAX)
    SELECT @DATABASE = '602'
    SELECT @SchemaName = 'dbo' --change as appropriate
    SELECT @TABLE = 'Items'
    SET @QUERY = 'SELECT TOP 10 * FROM ' + QUOTENAME(@DATABASE)+'.' + QUOTENAME(@SchemaName) + '.'+QUOTENAME(@TABLE)
    print @query
    EXEC( @QUERY)

  • ORA-27369 Exit-Code: 255 when executing sql script as job

    Dear all
    I'd like to find and compile all invalid objects in an instance. This should be done every day as a scheduled job with the use of DBMS_SCHEDULER.
    For this, I set up the following sql-script:
    ---------start script--------------
    set heading off;
    set feedback off;
    set echo off;
    Set lines 999;
    Spool /tmp/run_invalid.sql
    select
    'ALTER ' || OBJECT_TYPE || ' ' ||
    OWNER || '.' || OBJECT_NAME || ' COMPILE;'
    from
    dba_objects
    where
    status = 'INVALID'
    spool off;
    set heading on;
    set feedback on;
    set echo on;
    @/tmp/run_invalid.sql
    exit
    ------ end script ----
    The script ist working well when executed manualy via sqlplus. As you can see, it spools the commands to a second file (run_invalid.sql) which is the beeing executed to compile the invalid objects found.
    I now want to schedule this script via DBMS_SCHEDULER (running the job every day at 7AM). Creation of the job:
    BEGIN
    DBMS_SCHEDULER.CREATE_JOB (
    job_name => 'compile_invalid_objects',
    job_type => 'EXECUTABLE',
    job_action => '/home/oracle/scripts/sql/compile_invalid_objects.sql',
    start_date => trunc(sysdate)+1+7/24,
    repeat_interval => 'trunc(sysdate)+1+7/24',
    enabled => TRUE,
    comments => 'SQL-Script, und invalid objects zu finden und zu kompilieren'
    END;
    Manualy execute and error message:
    BEGIN
    DBMS_SCHEDULER.RUN_JOB (job_name => 'compile_invalid_objects',
    use_current_session => true);
    END;
    FEHLER in Zeile 1:
    ORA-27369: Job vom Typ EXECUTABLE nicht erfolgreich mit Exit-Code: 255
    ORA-06512: in "SYS.DBMS_ISCHED", Zeile 150
    ORA-06512: in "SYS.DBMS_SCHEDULER", Zeile 441
    ORA-06512: in Zeile 2
    --> Sorry for this, I'm using german localized oracle.
    Unfortunately, it seems that only Shell-Scripts can be scheduled when using job_type='EXECUTABLE'. Can you confirm this?
    BTW: The script is chmoded to 777, therefore it can't be a permission problem.
    Is there maybe another solution with one single script using dbms_output functionality and run the script in a loop?
    To complete my post, here are the commands used to create and test the job:
    BEGIN
    DBMS_SCHEDULER.CREATE_JOB (
    job_name => 'compile_invalid_objects',
    job_type => 'EXECUTABLE',
    job_action => '/tmp/compile_invalid_objects.sql',
    start_date => trunc(sysdate)+1+7/24,
    repeat_interval => 'trunc(sysdate)+1+7/24',
    enabled => TRUE,
    comments => 'SQL-Script, und invalid objects zu finden und kompilieren'
    END;
    Thanks for your help
    Casi

    You could more simply use $ORACLE_HOME/dbms/admin/utlrp.sql

    Hi Folks,
    I used expdp utility to export all Oracle scheduler jobs and chains with below method, after that generate sql script by impdp, later on executing sql script encountered some errors.
    Only chain step and chain rule for executing script. Does anyone bright me some light? Thanks!

    Hi DK2010,
    I took some test that the data dict(dba_rule_sets/dba_evaluation_contexts) no any data returned after I had removed the job.
    So I tried to create evaluation context and re-executed script(only exception setion.) the first error has gone. For the second still have some issue.

  • Error While executing a SSIS package which contains a script task through SQL Server Agent job

    Hi,
    I have a SQL Server 2012 SSIS package with a script task along with other tasks [data flow, execute sql tasks ]. When I manually executed the job through BIDS, its completed successfully.
    Then I have automated the execution of the package through SQL Server Agent Job. But when I executed the package through SQL Agent job, it runs successfully for all the tasks except script task. When it comes to execute the Script Task, it is getting failed
    with the below error message.

    I have installed the SSIS on the 64-bit environment and SSIS service is running. Also I tried to run the job through 32 bit [job option] but I am getting the above error in all cases.
    Any help will be greatly appreaciated !

  • Error while executing SSIS package which contains Script component through SQL Server Agent Job

    Hello All,
    I have written one SSIS 2012 package which is fetching records from CSV and put it into staging DB and from staging DB , using SSIS script component task, I am inserting data into Dynamics CRM. So far it is working fine when
    I manually execute SSIS package.
    but when I run the SSIS package using SQL server agent job, I encounter below error. After seeing below error at step "Insert TLM Headers Script Component " I understand that it is failing at script component which I have used in SSIS package,
    but I am not sure what is the cause behind that? please advise.

    That being said, often SSIS jobs require a proxy to be runnable and this is how you make one up

  • Will dynamic Excel commands in a C# Edit Script run ok as a SSISDB Package and a SQL Server Agent Job?

    I've seen some conflicting things in terms of dynamic Excel commands running in a SSISDB Package and a scheduled SQL Server Agent Job...things like that it's not supported...that it won't work...etc...
    It's a pretty simple script...to open up a .xlsx file and save it as a .xls file. I am trying to be proactive here and the reason I did it this way is because I could not source the .xlsx file and then I couldn't use OLE DB sourcing because I think the .xlsx
    file wants you to use Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 and that entails installing the 64-bit Microsoft Access Database Engine and I cannot do that because our network version of Microsoft Office 2010 is 32-bit and in order to install the 64-bit Microsoft Access Database
    Engine 2010 it's prompting me to uninstall Microsoft Office 2010 and that is not possible.
    Ugh!
    So I'm hoping that I can promote and deploy this current SSIS Package to Production and create a SQL Server Agent Job that will successfully run this and its dynamic Excel commands.
    Do you know of any hurdles with this? Any anomalies...struggles...
    Thanks for your review and am hopeful for a reply.
    Here's the C# Script...which works perfectly client side...
    string StrFileName = (Dts.Variables["User::FileName"].Value.ToString());
    StrFileName = Path.GetFileNameWithoutExtension(StrFileName);
    string StringSourceFile = (Dts.Variables["User::FilePath"].Value.ToString()) + StrFileName + ".xlsx";
    string StringDestinationFile = (Dts.Variables["User::FilePath"].Value.ToString()) + StrFileName + ".xls";
    // This initiates the Excel Application
    Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application excelApplication = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application();
    // This Opens the Source .xlsx File from Emdeon ePaySmart
    Workbook workbook = excelApplication.Workbooks.Open(StringSourceFile, XlUpdateLinks.xlUpdateLinksNever, true, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing);
    // This will Save the Source .xlsx Emdeon ePaySmart File as a .xls File...note xlFileFormat.xlExcel5
    workbook.SaveAs(StringDestinationFile, XlFileFormat.xlExcel8, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, XlSaveAsAccessMode.xlExclusive, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing);
    // This will Close the Source
    workbook.Close(false, Type.Missing, Type.Missing);
    // This shuts down the Excel Application
    excelApplication.Quit();

    This should work if you use a proxy to run this package in the Agent; see:

    Sure.
    This simple job was created via Database Control Create Job option.
    The 'Job Activity' form shows 'Succeeded' but I did not receive the email. But if sent via SQL Plus i do receive the email.
    This is the SQL Script code: Type: SQL Script
    BEGIN
    UTL_MAIL.send(sender => '[email protected]',
    recipients => '[email protected]',

  • OEM12c Job - Run a SQL Script from a central location against multiple targets

    Hi All:
    I need to execute a SQL script that can be run as OEM Job against multiple targets from a single location so that the output csv files are all in that central location. My problem is that the sql script job documentation says "Make sure that the script file is installed in the appropriate location on all targets". Is anyone aware of a way I can do this so that the SQl script is executed from a location on my OMS console?
    Cheers

    Hi
    Create SQL job to run against on the server. Save those results (csv) file in local target. And crete one OS job, to collect all csv files into your OMS Console.

  • Job Scheduling for SQL Script procedure

    Hi,
    I am trying to activate an xsjob file with below format . But i am getting invalid file content error. Not sure where is the mistake. Unable to activate this xsjob file from my project explorer. Any inputs?
    My SQL Script procedure is in package JobScheduler which is again in package opint. REF_INQTOORD is the name of the procedure.
    "description": "Run OPI Jobs at regular intervals",
    "action": "opint.JobScheduler::REF_INQTOORD",
    "schedules": [
    "description": "Run OPI Jobs at regular intervals",
    "xscron": "* * * * * * 59",
    regards,
    Deepthi lakshmi.A

    Thanks Thomas.
    I was facing the same issue and removing the extra comma fixed it.
    However the extra comma is brought in with the template code that is provided in the Studio. Might be something to check and get removed from the template.

  • Retrieve alert values for use as parameter in corrective action sql script

    I am trying to write a corrective action sql script to kill a session that is blocking other sessions. I have the "blocking session count" metric set and the alert is firing correctly.
    Is there any way to retrieve the sid and serial number from the alert generated and use it in a corrective action sql script?
    Here is the alert generated:
    Target Name=myproddb.world
    Target Type=Database Instance
    Host=myprodserver
    Metric=Blocking Session Count
    Blocking Session ID=SID: 522 Serial#: 5228
    Timestamp=Mar 4, 2008 5:57:12 PM EST
    Severity=Warning
    Message=Session 522 is blocking 1 other sessions
    Notification Rule Name=Testing Corrective actions
    Notification Rule Owner=sysman
    Clearly the sid, and serial # is contained within the alert Message field
    what I want to write for the sql script is :
    alter system kill session '%sid%,%serial_no%' immediate;
    and have GC pass in the sid and serial_no to the script.
    The "Target Properties" listed on the right of the Edit Corrective Action screen lists minimal details pertaining to the alert and certainly not the session sid, serial no.
    Generically, is there any way to retrieve the values from an alert and use them in a corrective action script or job?
    I've looked into getting the values from the mgmt$alert_history table, but I'm hoping that GC can pass the values to the sql script.
    thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi
    You can implementing a procedure like this.
    1. When a block session count alarms occurs, there is a column in the v$lock that you can examine.
    #!/bin/ksh
    #kill_block_session.sh
    #first export your variables
    export ORACLE_HOME=/oracle/product/10.2.0.3
    export ORACLE_SID=SIDNAME
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus "/ as sysdba" << EOF
    execute immediate killed_blocks;
    EOF
    # end
    The killed_blocks is a procedure:
    create procedure
    declare
    v_sid varchar2(15);
    v_serial varchar2(15);
    -- now a sql query that retrieve the sid and serial
    -- you can obtain these values from v$session and v$lock
    select vs.sid,vs.serial into v_sid,v_serial
    from v$session vs,v$lock vl
    where vs.sid=vl.sid
    and vl.block >0
    -- After this, you execute a dbms_put line with these
    -- values
    But you understant that this response action is very dangerous, because its possible that you kill sessions that the blocking are transitient.
    You must examine your enviroment and your application and establish the metric like UDM and not for only session blocking count.
    You must to see:
    - The type of block
    - The ctime time in the v$lock for to understatn the amount of time to determine that the block is need killed.
    - In my opinion you need a special UDM and deactivate the blocking sesion count
    If you want help to create this UDM send me a mail to [email protected]
    Regards
    Robert

  • SSIS Package Fails when Scheduled as a SQL Server Agent Job

    I have an SSIS package that runs without any problems when executed through BIDS.
    However, when I schedule the SSIS as an Agent job, it fails completely or part way through. When it partially runs, the part that it is failing on is a Script Task that moves the source data file to an archive folder (on the same server).
    I have tried using my domain account as the owner of the job, then the job fails straight off and I get an error:
    Unable to determine if the owner (Domain\MyID) of job JobName has server access (reason: Could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user 'Domain\MyID'
    If I change the owner to the 'sa' account , then the job partially runs, but then fails because 'sa' is a SQL account and does not have access to the filesystem.
    I have managed to get it to work by using the SQL2008_Local account and granting modify permissions to the affected folders.
    My question is - what is the advised way of doing this?
    Thanks
    Gary

    Hi Garyv.King,
    When you see a SSIS package fails running in a SQL Agent job, you need to first consider the following conditions:
    1. The user account that is used to run the package under SQL Server Agent differs from the original package author.
    2. The user account does not have the required permissions to make connections or to access resources outside the SSIS package.
    For more detailed information about the issue, please following this KB article:
    An SSIS package does not run when you call the SSIS package from a SQL Server Agent job step
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918760
    You can check SQL Server Agent’s activity logs, Windows Event logs and SSIS logs to get more clues. Also the tool Process Monitor is helpful to track the cause of registry or file access related issues.
    The following 4 issues are common encountered in the SSIS forum.
    1. The package's Protection Level is set to EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey but your SQL Server Agent service account is different from the SSIS package creator.
    2. Data source connection issue.
    3. File or registry access permission issue.
    4. No 64-bit driver issue.
    For more information about it, please see:
    How do I troubleshoot SSIS packages failed execution in a SQL Agent job:
